The Save a Life Initiative has just released its newest course: CPR, AED & First Aid. This manual is based on the 2015-2020 CPR, AED, and First Aid guidelines published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation and are designed to train people everywhere to respond to everyday emergencies. The course covers First Aid basics, including first aid kits, tooth injuries, bee stings, insect bites, nose bleeds, and other common problems. Advanced topics include heart attack, stroke, asthma emergencies, head injuries, burns, and more. Each topic is broken down into critical decisions to make and steps to take. This book will give you the confidence you need in situations that range from minor to crisis. The book also covers how to provide adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). This course is written by Dr. Karl F. Disque, a board-certified anesthesiologist, and a registered pharmacist. Dr. Disque has certified thousands of healthcare professionals with his courses in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS), and now he brings that same expertise to his first course designed for people in the community. This is one of the most effective and user-friendly training manuals on the market because it was created by a team dedicated to life support education with the goal of training people to help save lives. This manual is the primary training material for CPR, AED, and First Aid certification courses provided by Save a Life Certifications by NHCPS. While it is originally created for use during certification courses, the handbook is excellent reference material for both anyone to keep their everyday emergency response skills sharp.

A useful and helpful book for first aider and non first aider alike. By following the enumerated procedures you might save a life or lives. But still experience is the best teacher.
This is a great book that I think everyone should take the time to read no matter what stage of life they are in. It will help anyone to potentially be helpful in an emergency situation. I have always wanted to become CPR certified, and while this book cannot take the place of actual experience or practice in a classroom setting, it has made me feel more prepared to handle certain things like my child choking. It is quick and easy to read and understand, it breaks the situations down by category for easy learning. It gives small quizzes after each section to help you remember/absorb what you just read. My only critique is that it could use one more round of editing for a few small typos.
I won a copy of this book in a giveaway in exchange for an honest review.
I should review this since I won it but what do I know about the subject matter? I figured that if I won it would be something I could refer to as needs be. So, judging in that context, it seems like it will be as good as anything else in that capacity so I think 4-stars is fair. If anybody dies then that's on me.
I won a Kindle version in a Goodreads giveaway. It's a good reference book with useful and practical information. But as somebody with not much prior knowledge of CPR and first aid, I felt it was rather brief.
I wish I had this book the first time I waz taking cpr. It heloed me to gain a better understanding of the credentials I have being a basic provider and having cpr as a skill.
I'm a CPR & FIRST AID INSTRUCTOR, I mainly teach in Spanish, and I wanted to improve my Spanish used and found this book very helpful. I did like the information given and will use some of what I learned here.
Everyone should have this book in their household and read it thoroughly. It is a great primer on CPR, AED and First Aid providing, in general. This book can be a lifesaver!
Thoughts This is a really good basic first aid guide, condensing the same information provided in the Save a Life courses but in a great, easy to navigate book
