Sarah and her husband live in a beautiful corner of SE Pennsylvania with their three tiny benevolent pug dictators.
Fans of Sarah Cradit's House of Crimson and Clover series will adore this anthology.
A Band of Heather by Sarah Cradit is a lagniappe about some beloved characters in her The House of Crimson and Clover series.
This is a short story is about Colleen and Noah, and it is set in beautiful Scotland. It is a great background story of how these two characters got together. I loved the vivid descriptions of Edinburgh and Isle of Skye. There is a lot packed into this short story.
Cradit has used a very creative story structure to tell this incredibly romantic story; letters home to family allow the main characters to tell their POV. The story structure fluidly moves back and forth from letter format to standard narrative.
A must read for fans of the House of Crimson and Clover series, and a sweet holiday story for new readers.
Pandora's Box by Sarah Credit is a short story in the Red Hot Candy anthology. Ms. Credit has created a few characters for this story that will surely find their way into her House of Crimson and Clover series.

The Menagerie by Sarah Cradit was originally part of the Red Hot & Tied Down boxed set. I’m a long-time fan of Sarah Cradit’s series House of Crimson and Clover. While The Menagerie is definitely a lagniappe associated with her series, it can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone short story in the boxed set.
The Menagerie is an underground, Emperian-made “Garden of Eden” where humans are kept as pets for the sexual satisfaction of Duchess Oriana and her select guests. The duchess states, “For what are we without our free will?”, and her newest interest, Cyler (AKA Vakkar) wonders just how much free will there is in the Menagerie. As is to be expected, Sarah Cradit has painted a vivid scene in which her latest story takes place. Character development in a short story is limited, but her main characters, are anything but flat. I enjoyed this hot little read, and I am looking forward to seeing how Ms. Cradit’s newest characters will fit into her series.
Banshee is an excellent lagniappe from Sarah Cradit that adds a new and interesting twist to her House of Crimson & Clover series.
Giselle Deschanel was one of the family members taken in a questionable car accident. However, she didn’t completely die. Her paranormal capabilities allowed her to inhabit other humans and take on their lives. With artful cunning, Giselle body-hops her way to the love of her life only to find the secret to inhabiting a little too late.
In a clever twist, Banshee ends in full circle with Giselle’s current body the same age she was when she was in the infamous Deschanel car crash. This latest installment of the House of Crimson & Clover left me excited for more of Ms. Cradit’s epic saga.
I've previously reviewed Pandora's Box here, The Menagerie here, and A Band of Heather here - but The Ephemeral and Banshee were both new to me.
The Ephemeral: I had fun learning about this limb of the Sullivan family tree that branches up into Portland, OR. It was unexpected, intriguing, and I'm curious to see where the story goes from here.
The Banshee: 'I was eighteen when I died. Then, at eighteen, I was reborn.' With a description like that, how can you not want to read this? It grabbed me immediately and if you're familiar with The House of Crimson and Clover series, you'll be fascinated at what happened to Giselle after she died - a highly creative alternative to what could happen to a soul when it leaves the body.
If you're unfamiliar with this series, all of these can be read as standalones - if you're a fan of this series, you don't want to miss this collection.
I received a digital copy of this book from the author.
I bought this boxed set as it was a glimpse into The House of Crimson and Clover series. I wasn't sure what this series was but since it was a family saga about witches I was intrigued. I did enjoy these short stories and liked many of the characters. It was interesting how many of them had supernatural skills; from being able to manipulate plants to power over fire and ice. I'm still undecided about buying the actual series of books, but my appetite has certainly been whetted and I would recommend anyone to read this collection.
I really enjoy how Sarah Cradit wrote these stories. She wrote just enough to be able to leave you hanging and wanting more. I am convinced that this will allow her to expand this world even more. I am sad that I finished the series. I cannot wait to read the spin off.
I haven’t read the main series these short stories refer to, but I enjoyed this entire read nonetheless. And, indeed, I look forward to reading the actual series now! Well done to the author; good all on its own, but also a brilliant invite to read on …
This box set is a great set if you are entering the world of Crimson and Clover. It includes background on the different branches of the Deschanel's far reaching family tree. In this one we get a couple of unique and interesting views
Pandora's Box is the story of Pandora and Jasper, our eccentric couple who with all the schooling they have decided to open a store dealing with the supernatural, crystals side of life in New Orleans. They prove to be quite interesting with a lot of crazy going on with this family. A great read that covers from when they met up thru marriage and building their family.
The Menagerie is Spicy! Yup while this is one of the few times we get this side of Ms Cradit in this series, but I like it. This is the story of Cyler and his intro to the Duchess and her underground house of ill repute. She is fierce and demanding with her own special way of keeping control over the people who come and go. Cyler meets Hannah and his world flips. Can he win against the Duchess in the name of true love or will he continue to do as is expected.
A Band of Heather - Noah and Colleen have their own unique history. Now we find out exactly how unique it is. Colleen the head of the family and Noah very quietly supporting her in her role but the real story of how they met and the skeletons in the closet are enough to show you who they really are and the love that binds them. Cradit weaves a tale like no other as she pulls you deeper into the Deshanels and Sullivans lives making you wonder where will she take you next.
The Ephemeral - Autumn is away at school and a hazard to everyone when she get behind the wheel. This time thou is opens another door for some new experiences. Gabriel is supposed to observe and recruit but that's not all that happens. Will the secrets, lies and deceptions be a problem down the line.
The Banshee - Gabriel is not who people thinks she is. The powers of the Deschanel's fills her veins and it is that power she puts to use and takes over. She lives the life not meant to be and today we hear her confession. Will anyone know? Anyone realize the hoodoo at work here and stop her before it's too late or will she succeed in becoming and being.
Lagniappes Collection II The Crimson & Clover Short Story Collection is another wonderful set of stories by Sarah M. Cradit.
Pandora's Box is the beautiful love story of Jasper and Pandora Broussard. When it's true love, no obstacle is too great.
The Menagerie is H O T! When Cyler finishes his 100 years of training, he is anxious to head out and explore the world. The only thing he wants more is to meet his idol, Grand Duke Agripin. Before he can succeed in crossing paths with Agripin, he is invited to Oriana's underground sexual paradise. When he meets Hanna in The Menagerie, he begins to question his chosen path. Should he proceed as planned? Or can he convince Hanna to leave her newfound paradise with him?
A Band of Heather is Colleen and Noah's story. They meet and fall in love at school in Scotland. Their whirlwind romance is beautiful but not without it's troubles. Will Noah stand by Colleen when he learns about her abilities?
The Ephemeral introduces us to Autumn Sullivan. Most of her life she has been guarded, guided, comforted by a being only she could see. Until he vanishes without a trace. When she meets Gabriel she believes her protector has returned to her. But has he?
Banshee was perhaps the most shocking story in this collection. Giselle Deschanel died in a car accident when she was 18 years old. She died. She's supposed to be gone. Why, then, can she still see, hear, and feel? And how can she keep from disappearing completely?
