Baehrly Bitten was far more serious than the previous books happened to be. There was still some light-hearted comedy thrown in for good measure, but it was darker than I expected it to be. I enjoyed the fact that the plot line wasn't obvious like they tend to be with shorter stories. I was actually surprised at the end!

In this addition, Goldie is struggling with her new were status. Something is wrong with her bear, it's either craving honey or acting like a raving lunatic. On top of all that, there's an awkward love triangle going on between Goldie, Kodie and Donovan. Kodie desperately wants Goldie back but she's not buying what he's sellin'. Goldie wants Donovan but he runs too hot an cold while holding back his true self. Poor Goldie's just torn between them.

As much as I enjoyed this story, I did start to get irritated by all the silly typos I kept coming across. Some of the mistakes were pretty obvious like "it" instead of "is", that kinda thing.

Overall, I am gonna continue with this series because it's cute and has a lot of humor to it.

This is the best so far of the Cindy Eller/Goldie Locke books. I like Goldie better than Cindy. My question for the author, though, is "Why does Goldie have to choose between her two beaux?" Certainly, a 21st century witch is open minded enough to know that love knows no bounds, and there is no real reason to HAVE to choose one over the other.

This is a second book in this series and I loved it! I loved the first book, but this one is just as good if not better. This author knows how to get your attention and keep it. I read this book in one sitting stopping long enough to eat while reading. I love Goldie Locke and the other characters especially the animals like the pink elephant, dragon, and zombie chicken. This book has it all romance, suspense and is paranormal with witches and vampires. I can't wait until the next book in this series comes out so I can find out what happens next.

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

This series must be read in order. The first book is Baehrly Beginning (A Goldie Locke and the Were Bears Short Story) which is ALWAYS free on Amazon. The second book is Baehrly Breathing (Goldie Locke and the Were Bears #1). This is the third book.

I loved this book! Reeves makes you care about her characters as much as she does. It is well written and the story moves with a life of it's own :) My only complaint is I wished it was longer because now i have to wait for the next one Baehrly Alive (Goldie Locke and the Were Bears Book #3) to come out to live in Goldie's world again :) Elizabeth A Reeves is definitely an author to watch!

***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy modern fantasy a bit darker than the How (Not) To Series by Reeves with a fractured fairytale vibe and magical mayhem with a dash of romance :)

Elizabeth Reeves has created a fun and entertaining series, updating an old childhood story in a fun and more adult way. I am hooked on this series of books. Her characters are hilarious, her creatures are original, and I really enjoyed how she did not romanticized the vampires in this story - parasitic boneless bloodbags - what a fresh read. I almost cried at the end - I want MORE MORE MORE...
At the end of book 2, Baehrly Breathing, I couldn't decide if I was for Donovan or Kodi, and at the end of this story - I'm really not sure. The fact I'm trying to decide how I want story to continue just tells me how strongly the author has drawn me into the story and characters. If you are looking for a fun, entertaining book that grabs you and takes you away from your everyday - this is one I can recommend.

Baehrly Bitten takes up right where Baehrly Breathing left us. Goldie is still taking care of Fred, her Zombie Chicken (who doesn't like Zombie chickens?)Petunia, the pinky miniature elephant plus her cats. She is still dealing with being a werebear when she agrees to work on a case with Donavan. There is plenty of Kodi as well. Several action scenes, humor,a touch of romance complete with a twist I didn't see coming. The only thing I really didn't like was the ending. This book was shorter than what I normally read so that may be why it feels like the ending was rushed. Its also left with a cliffhanger. So, I am impatiently waiting for the next book! Oh yes you might want to read Book One and the Prelude before reading this one. This really isn't a stand alone book.

This was the second book in this series and it was amazing. This story is fast paced and action packed. Goldie, Donavon and Kodi are off on another action packed adventure and this time all of man kind depends the trio. Will Goldie and her force be enough to stop a horde or crazy vampires set on becoming day walkers?

I loved that this book picked up right where the first left off. Goldie is trying to figure out what she is and why things don't work quite the way they should for her. Kodi is determined to have her as his wife and Donovan hasn't given up on her either. When the choice is between two great guys what will Goldie and will it even be her own choice?

I love this series. Goldie is once again working with Donovan & Kodie. Kodie is her ex and Donovan is the new guy in her life. Kodie doesn't want to let her go and she is torn between the two men in her life. Vampires are the new threat and the trio races to discover the clues and rescue innocent victims. Once again, Goldie's menagerie of magical creatures adds to the story.

I would have given this 5 stars but the epilogue didn't do much for me. I like cliffhangers but this one kind of annoyed me. There was no real ending to the story. It was still worth the read and I will be moving on to the next book in the series.

This is Book 2 in the series.
I do think you need to read Book 1 for it to make the most sense.

This is Kindle Unlimited.
This is important to me because it is the kind of story/series I don't like. I wouldn't call it a cliff hanger necessarily, but there is no HEA (happily ever after) or even a HFN (happy for now).
There is also a love triangle. In this book, the main character, Goldie Locke, even acknowledges that she is in a triangle and she won't even read love triangle books. At which time I gave an "amen, sister," and kept reading. But if I had been buying the books, I wouldn't have continued buying the books. I feel cliffhangers are "cheating." I want my books to stand alone, whether I have read one or 13 of them.

But I digress.
This is a cute series/cliffhanger grouping. It is fluffy. The fluffiest of fluff. The second is a little grittier than the first, but the shifter battles are quick and to the point.

The main characters are nice, if kind of shallow in description. The background characters are nicely fleshed out. Goldie lives with all sorts of exotic beasts and it is fun to visit with those.

My 3 stars is based on the fact that there really isn't much depth, the fact that it is a cliffie, and the fact that it is a triangle. There are editing mistakes. Wrong words. Misspelled words. If I was listening to this, I would never know that. But reading it, they just kind of jump out at you.

Dark and Bloody

First, a confession. Had I realized that this book was about vampires, I would not have purchased this book. Sorry, but they creep me out. However, once I spent the money, I thought I should read the book.

For me, this story was so much darker than the first book which I guess was the author's goal. Job well done! If you like vampire stories, I imagine you'll like this book even if these vampires are evil and have no sense of right or wrong. For me it was just too dark and bloody.

Vampires, were's and witches -who are the good guys

Terrific! Can Goldie hold her own in all the changes sweeping through her life? Can she help in the rescue of the missing heiress? This has everything in one book -were's, witches, vampires etc. What could be better! Great for all cozy mystery lovers who love paranormal elements thrown into the mix. Don't worry about any "age" put onto this as it can be enjoyed by all

Complicated life

Goldie was interesting as art healer, lawyer, environmentalist, add were and no one knew what to expect, now vampire Hunter ? And what's with the Librarian? I'm grateful I can read the next book right away and not have to wait for it to be written.

Fun

Cute paranormal story. Entertaining series to go with the Cindy Eller series. All sorts of magical creatures and a page turning tale to go with that.

Too predictable

I found it hard to get into the story. The love triangle over rode the mystery and the ending was easy to figure out

In my review of Baehrly Breathing, the first in the Goldie Locke series, I said, “Golden Sunshine Locke, or Goldie Locke as she is better known, is my new favorite “Just For Fun” literary character!” And I can still say that Goldie is a favorite that I am happy to have found and embraced. And the fun is still there in the second book, Baehrly Bitten: Goldie Locke and the Were Bears #2. But life is changing for Goldie, and she is growing into her character, and into her life. A life that is getting tougher, and more intense in this second volume.

In the first book, we met Goldie, a sassy, funny, five-foot nothing who, despite absolutely hating it, is “cute.” Blonde, blue-eyed, and just plain adorable, looking like she is nineteen, at most. Instead, she is a smart, savvy woman with two PhD’s and a law degree, specializing in being the “most dreaded Magical environmental lawyers of all time.” What she really is doing is rescuing those rare and endangered creatures that need her help. Which means she has a houseful of creatures, including a baby dragon, a tiny, pink mastodon, and various other magical creatures. Her house is definitely getting to small for everyone – including the two guys who she is working with. And who both want her. Sound suspiciously like a triangle, but it doesn’t feel like that at all, so if you are like me, don’t let it bother you. It all works itself out fairly quickly. But Goldie needs all the help she can get, and vampires are on the loose, murdering and kidnapping. And these aren’t the “sparkly” vampires that are so common in literature today. These are more like what I would consider vampires to really be like – nasty, mindless, bags of bones, parasites of the lowest order, skulking in the dark.

In Breathing, Goldie’s ex, Kodi, one of the three were bear Baehr brothers, was forced to bite Goldie in order to save her life. Now, Goldie is fighting her internal bear as it fights for dominance and fights to mate with Kodi – something that Goldie most definitely does not want. In order to be able sleep as the bear fights her, throwing her magic around and destroying everything around her, Goldie has her mother bind the bear within her mind. And that is only the first of Goldie’s troubles.

This is, as I said, a deeper novel than the last. Goldie is still funny and snarky, but this volume went deeper, a bit darker than the last, allowing Goldie to grow and develop as a character. I started out loving this from the start because it was so light and funny. Now, I like it even more for the character development and the darker nature, while still hanging onto Goldie’s true personality. She is growing, and changing, but she is still immensely likable. Bruised and damaged as she is in this volume, I don’t get the feeling that she is turning dark or losing who she is in her soul.

Overall? I just downloaded the next book, Baehrly Alive. Yes, I am totally hooked. The bad part, of course, is that when I am done it will be “wait for the next one” time . . . (saaaaddddd!)

Ummmm what? Okay so imagine this: Your reading this book, and it's going great! It's everything you imagined it would be and more, when all of a sudden, in the Epilogue.. You don't understand whats going on at all. Sucks right?
Well that's what happened in this book.

Everything was going good ,you know, Goldie is doing her usual kick butt business and you still love Donovan, and Kodi, and everything when all of a sudden BAM, you are confused about what's going on. This doesn't happen until the end though.

It wasn't confusing per se but everything was way too rushed. Nothing was explained. Basically it went a little like this. Epilogue: "I can't believe, ____" or this happened and that happened. THE END! My reaction? "Did I accidentally skip a chapter?" I asked myself. No I don't think so but what if I did...So what did I do? Yes that's right, I reread the last three chapters of the book to realize that's just how it ended.

Then I got a little sad. What a great story and an abrupt ending. Yes, there is another book in the series, but I'm so disappointed with the second book that I don't think I'm going to continue the series.

Other than that I liked it. So I rate this book 3 out of 5 starts. Three stars for keeping me entertained until the last three chapter or so.

I got the first book in this series, "Baehrly Breathing" free. I had never read Elizabeth A Reeves books prior to this one. I read it in one sitting and decided to look for the second book in the series, "Baehrly Bitten". It was free from my Kindle lending library. Today I read this book and now I am completely hooked! After I finish this review, I will be buying the next book in this series, "Baehrly Alive". The characters (paranormal, animal and human) are completely likeable and you totally get involved in their lives; rooting for them, crying with them, hoping everything works out for them. Sooooooo recommend Ms Reeves books for those of you who enjoy fun, excitement, suspense, and plenty of odd ball characters.
