A Holiday Romantic Comedy

Sports agent Adam Roberts hates Christmas, hates cheer, and just about anything tied with a bow. What he does love is sports, the thrill of a competition and the mysterious identity of the woman he’s been flirting with on the company messanger…

Meg McClane loves everything about Christmas, from her festive Ugly Sweaters, down to her candy-cane striped toenails. But not everyone appreciates her holiday cheer; not her co-workers, not her bosses, and certainly not Adam Roberts—especially the night they get stranded in the elevators on their way to the company Christmas party…

***2.5/5 Stars***

Kinsman Eve had the cutest premise ever! But unfortunately this was another book where I couldn't connect to any of the characters. And some of them felt over the top, like Sheila. She worked right next to Meg.....and I just wanted to shove a candy cane in her mouth so she'd stop talking. #BadJen

I did enjoy that we got to hear both of the main characters thoughts. Meg was adorable and loved everything Christmas. And I didn't care what her co-workers said about her outfits. I thought they were perfectly festive! Meg had been crushing on Adam, a guy that worked in the same office. If only she knew that Adam was interested in her too.

Both Adam and Meg were characters I'd normally adore, so I'm not sure what went wrong. Especially since it was oh so sweet how they ended up getting together. But it took over halfway for me to be somewhat invested in the story. And I finally cracked a smile when I was close to the end. There were a few grammatical errors, but ultimately this book just didn't elicit much emotion from me. Since the characters and story line were something I'd typically fall for, I will be picking up another book by each of these authors. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that I like them a lot more.

Kissmas Eve by M. E. Carter and Sara Ney

I love when these two authors join forces and give us a fun RomCom to read. Kissmas Eve is... wait for it... a Christmas novella set in an office environment. I'm not going to ramble about the story or the characters, but I'll just say this is book had lots of laugh out loud moments, particularly with Meg's sense of fashion (I mean, really. Who has a sweater with a picture of an ugly sweater on it?). It was very sweet and short enough to read while drinking a cup of tea. I know I'll be reading this again before Christmas.

Making it one of my goals for 2021 is to clear my kindle and clean out my old books and scrolling through came to this cutesy read Kissmas Eve by Sara Ney and ME Carter. This book starts with introducing us to Meg who is best friends with Tabitha - remember her from the Three Little Lies series with Colin. Meg is also busy working as a sports agent and has a crush on Adam. It is the month of December and for Meg, this means going all out for Christmas time with Christmas clothes, ugly sweaters, and Christmas cups. So much that the office has started bets on her outfits and Christmas cheer. Meg doesn't believe that Adam knows she exists, but he certainly does and is trying to get the guts to tell her he likes her. Kissmas Eve was one of those elevators meet cute novels as the pair end up on their way to the Christmas party getting stuck in a dark elevator and you know what happens in the elevator stays in the elevator. Kissmas Eve is also a quick read novella that if you are in the mood for some happy Christmas cheer , it just hits the spot.

2.5 Stars. This was a short Christmas-Office-Romance. There were some funny moments, but overall I thought it was kind of cheesy and rushed and I didn't really buy the romance.

Another well written, entertaining, sweet and fun holiday read.

The only problem was that I wanted more of this characters. I was so hook that at the end I wanted to keep passing pages and found out more from Adam and Meg.

This was an opposite attract office romance. Where’s Meg is a beautiful, easy going and quirky in her love for all things Christmas. Adam is the Scrooge. Serious and always put together and also her boss.

I won’t dive into what happens with this two but the collaboration of M.E. and Sara brought a perfect story. Also the Acknowledgment were HILARIOUS.

A quick, cute romance between a Christmas-crazed lady and the man who'd just rather not when it comes to decking the halls. Except, he's not really that bad. It's more like he just isn't at Meg's level of Christmas commitment. But, then, is ANYONE?

I liked Meg. I did NOT like her co-worker. I liked Adam's utter distraction from whatever was going on around him whenever Meg was nearby. I liked their endearingly awkward flirting over the messaging app.

Did I mention I didn't care for the way Meg's co-worker treated her? Yeah. Because I didn't. But that's another story for another day.

This one is all about awkwardness and celebrating what you love even when those around you are giving you the side-eye. It's about anonymous chats and being trapped on an elevator at a VERY opportune moment.

Quick, cute, and fun.

I really enjoyed this little holiday novella. I have read the book several times. I think Adam and Meg are really funny and cute together. It’s such a light fun holiday read.

Some tropes:
You've Got Mail
a little Christmas scrooge(H)/Christmas enthusiast (h)
Stuck in an elevator

I saw that the book recently got a new cover. I like the old cover, but new cover is also cute.

The book is told in Meg and Adam’s povs.

Meg McClane has been working as a sports agent at McGinnis Agency for 3 months. It’s her dream job. She had to move from Illinois to Dallas, Texas for the job. This will be Meg’s first Christmas in her new home. This holiday season Meg is feeling a little bit down because it’s lonely being in a new place. Meg doesn’t let that dampen her holiday spirit. She loves everything Christmas. Come December, Meg goes all out with decorating her cubicle, wearing ugly holiday sweaters/holiday leggings, and spreading Christmas cheer. She becomes the talk of the office.

I think Meg would get along great with Buddy the Elf.

One person that doesn’t share Meg’s love of Christmas is her co-worker sports agent/manager Adam Roberts. He is tired of going to Christmas parties alone. Meg has a major crush on Adam. It doesn’t help that Adam’s clear glass office is right across from Meg’s cubicle. Meg can’t help but stare longingly at Adam through his glass windows whenever he isn’t looking. Sadly, Meg doesn’t think that Adam would ever be into her and doesn’t think that she is “executive management girlfriend” material. Little does Meg know that the feelings are mutual. Adam has trouble concentrating on work because he is too busy staring at Meg.

Unfortunately, Adam thinks that Meg hates him because she avoids him every chance she gets. The few times tries to make small talk, Meg runs off. They are both too nervous to make a move.

The office has this anonymous messenger buddy system to help new workers. Adam ends up being Meg’s messenger buddy. They are supposed only talk about work related stuff on the system, but they start to carry on conversations about other things. They are both curious about the identity of the other, so they decide to meet at the office Christmas Party. The anonymous email exchange reminded me of the movie You've Got Mail.

I really wanted to see Meg and Adam go to the ugly Christmas sweater party.

I loved Adam and Meg’s internal dialogue in the story. I just found them adorable in the book. Adam wasn’t the biggest fan of Christmas, so it was funny to see his reaction to Meg love for the holiday.

Meg’s co-worker Sheila was a piece of work.

I wish the authors would have included and epilogue at the end of the story. The story ended right when the two of them got together. I wanted to see more of them as an actual couple. It would have been nice to see the story skip ahead a few Christmases later and maybe have them married with a kid. Meg could have them all wearing matching Christmas pjs or ugly sweaters. The story was 66 pages. I still would have liked it to be just a little bit longer. At the same time, I liked that the story was a quick read. This is a go to Christmas read for me.

The authors wrote a second book called New Years Steve. Meg and Adam appear as side characters in the second book. New Years Steve takes place a few weeks after Kissmas Eve.

Safety Info:

Some tropes:

You've Got Mail
a little Christmas scrooge(H)/Christmas enthusiast (h)
Stuck in an elevator

I assume no virgins

Just some kissing between the H and h

Hero not a manwhore- Adam can be awkward around women that he likes and is not good at small talk.

Meg says she has trouble flirting too. They are both awkward around each other.

Both only have eyes for each other after meeting.

OW/OM drama-not really. There is one part where Meg sees Adam buying kid toy cars at the mall and she is disappointed bc she thinks he is married with kids. He was buying Christmas gifts for his clients two kids.

Adam sees Meg and a guy hugging at the mall. He gets jealous thinking that she has a boyfriend. In reality, the guy is her gay neighbor friend named Cody. Adam says he has never been the jealous type except when it comes to Meg.

No epilogue- the story ends when they get together. They are side characters in book two, New Years Steve.

Wow, I feel like the Grinch. I haven't enjoyed any of the Christmas novellas or short story collections I've read this year... No doubt tons of people will find this one adorable so don't let my rating discourage you. It is, after all, only 66 pages so not a big deal to check it out yourself, but it didn't work for me. Oh, well.

This book was a cute romance that put me in the holiday spirit! It was full of charm and laughter and “he is right there” moments. I loved how the characters were drawn to each other and just happened to get stuck in an elevator together 😏. I’m excited to read the other books by this author and keep with the feel good feelings that comes with it!

Potencjał naprawdę spory, pomysł mega fajny, ale wykonanie spłycone do granic możliwości, choć to nowelka świąteczna i zbyt wiele od nich nie powinno się wymagać.

Meg and Adam were so cute and adorable! They are both sneaking glances at each across the room from their respective desk and cubicle, both afraid of putting themselves out there first in fear of rejection.

Reading about their crossing paths until the one day they are actually forced in the space with no way out of it without getting to know one another was hilarious and sweet.

This is a fun, light-hearted holiday novella that is as sweet as peppermint hot chocolate <3

And the acknowledgements, gods, these two authors crack me up and had me laughing. Definitely recomended if you want a fun, sweet, short holiday romance.

My only complaint is that this was so short alksdjklasjd but it was such a cute little novella!
two idiots crushing on each other so hard yet they like, avoid each other in person like magnets that turn the wrong way because "no way they like me?? gonna stay clear and not embarrass myself!" alksdjkasd

This is a short and sweet holiday romance.
I especially love the meet-cute between Meg and Adam. I only wished it to be longer than it is! As far as opposite-attract trope goes, I don’t actually feel it that much? There could be more to be explained on Adam’s character, as to how he was described to e a grinch in this story. But I like it still and they are really cute together.
