I've been waiting for this book since the series began. Seriously, the Xaros have been on their way for 6 books and now they finally arrived. I thought Fox did a decent job of setting up the various places the action was happening. I don't know why I didn't like this book more. It certainly had a lot of pew pew which I generally enjoy. Maybe it was because I couldn't visualize what Captain Hale and his marines were doing at Pluto. I couldn't picture the new jump gate the Xaros were constructing. I had trouble imagining how the Skippio and a wormhole were used to funnel solar plasma out the backside of the moon. I knew there were ten million drones but I couldn't tell how they were spread out, except in the broadest terms where half went one way and half went the other way. What does a swarm of 5 million drones look like? I can imagine 100, possibly 1,000, not so much 10,000... I need more scale reference points. I was sad when Torny died (again!) and Lafayette gave himself up as well, but there was something hurried about those moments that left me feeling an emotional deficit where I should have been really sad. All in all, this book did what it needed to do. I'm not unhappy I read it. I just wish it had satisfied some of those issues I've mentioned here.

Excellent read
Well once again earth forces must battle the Xaros, as they stage a all out attack on earth. It appears that at last some of the alliance will come to help. But are they really going to help are look at turning into a new enemy.

With friends like them, who needs enemas?
So interstellar war is hell. It's worse when it comes back and wrecks your home. If this book was about natural disasters, it would be like having tornadoes, earthquakes, and hurricanes all coming through your back yard. But it's a lot more fun than that.
In this book we say goodbye to some old and dear comrades. But the Earth forces get to kick some major Xaros butt! We even get some help from friendly aliens who come to Earth to help liberate the planet and everything looks great by the end of the story. NOT! Wait, what? Good thing there are more books in the series...

Dacă n-aș fi curios să vad cum vor rezolva problema inamicilor care vin din altă galaxie, probabil că după acest volum aș fi renunțat. E prea mult ghinion pentru săraca noastră planetă încât să îmi mai pese. Toată bătălia este obositoare pentru că efectiv doar despre asta e vorba în acest volum, iar sfârșitul culminează cu cea mai idioată, deși logică, schimbare de situație din câte am citit până acum.

Another day in the life of Earth. I don't know if I would have liked living in the future.
It is hard to imagine the future as most writers enivision it but one thing seems to carry through. Politicians and lies. It is part of our human nature and seems to carry through to aliens.
But the story would not have the challanges without double crosses, backstabbing and lies. Gives the reader small questions to ponder as they read and keeps the story going.

Epic
And the hits keep coming. I can't do any justice in reviewing this book without spoilers so I'll settle for say this. You will laugh and you may cry since the book is full of action... wholesale mayhem really, tempered with a generous dash of hilarity. If you haven't read the series please hurry up and get book one now.

what do you mean 'we won?'
the General has driven his Xaros drones through their wormhole and are now in Earth's galaxy. all of the planning that has been done for years to stop this invasion now seems worthless. yet the work of an questionable alien and the construct of a former Marine might make the battle a success. what happens after that is nobody's fault, right?

Fun imaginative sci-fi
Lots of fun sci-fi action in this seventh installation of the Ember War Saga. Similar to the previous books...but to me the author seems to be improving on making his stories more entertaining.

Yet another stab in the back for Earth, just as it looked like they might get a break. Losing Torni and Lafayette in the same book was tough, but understandable. This installment ends on a dark note. I hope the next one is more upbeat. Oh, and Hale finally makes captain.

Crackin good fight
Hard to take a breath reading this blood and guts fighting epic. Not for the faint of heart, because of the dieing like flies on both sides .not a stand alone book it needs the full support of the previous books in the series.

Xaros invasion
Some unorthodox strategies here including using the sun for desperate tactics. We are slowly losing here’s and it seems like earth always has to be wary of aliens.

Same Tired Formula Grows Stale By Book 7
"The Siege of Earth: The Ember War Saga Book 7," is an prime example of how an eBook author needlessly extends a series storyline that once had merit, to a point where only family, friends, book agents, drinking buddies, and sycophants can find enjoyment.
The same, tired formula, that was in every eBook, 1 through 6, is played out again in Book 7. Every time the author gets close actually writing a solid characterization, he backs off, leaves it one dimensional, and moves on. The narrative is stale, same dialogue all over again. Action moves quickly, but again, it is the same as every prior book. Just changing the location, substituting a new character or weapon, doesn't make it fresh-it's putting lipstick on a pig.
The "cliffhanger" ending is nothing more than a greedy grab for another eBook. How about writing a well edited, properly proofread, cohesive story in say, 4 eBooks, instead of 8, 9, or 10? An author would not only achieve far more readers per eBook, but establish a reputation that readers would follow: quality over quantity. Like my nana used to say, "...penny wise, pound foolish."
It's a shame, as I did in general, like the storyline of the series and a lot of this eBook and prior ones. As so many readers of this genre write in their reviews, I am just so tired of the lack of effort, lack of personal pride of workmanship, and crass greediness of so many eBook authors. This is a publicly offered commercial product, not a writers' workshop.

Back on Track!
This was fun, enjoyable read. Unfortunately, or not, to get most of the story you need to read the other books in the series. Character interaction , dialogue was great -- my complaint of last book in series. Character , character, character .
The episode of the Iron Hearts helping to get a rail gun online on Mars was priceless. Those are the moments you want, to feel. Quite a few other examples but don't want to go spoiler. I enjoy stories that evoke emotion and this one did, despite being a series and thinking you know where it is all going to end up. Or get some surprises .
Character and action driven, kind of a page turner. Author has tech but doesn't submerge the reader in superfluous, wordy details. Was able to keep track of the action and the characters even though a huge battle took place. So many other authors just spit, dump a lot out -- you might as well just skim forward to find out results, pick up story. Don't have that issue here.
Last note, I enjoyed some of the tactical nuances between our MCs and new guys who needed some education. My only nitpick would be more ground tactical detail -- TO (not sure how big tm, squad, plt, etc) is, formations, the what, where, how and when of deploying and engaging w weapons.

Frustrating
Mr. Fox's writes in a manner that allows the reader to quickly progress through his book. I had debated on reading the seventh installment of the Ember War series but because of the aforementioned skill of the author I went ahead and jumped in. Like the previous six books I become frustrated with the personal troubles of the various heroes interfering with saving earth. There is never any surprising plot twists and I do at times wonder if earth were actually inhabited by people as described in the book, would earth even deserve to survive.

Great Read
Another good book by Richard. I don't like to give up to much of the book but this one will have a major twist at the end . Just when they thought they were in the clear something else happens that will blow your mind . I never saw it coming so now I can't wait until the next book to see what happens. Nicely done Mr Fox .

On the one hand, this series is awesome. But on the other, its ending soonish. This is a series were I roadblock myself reading other things so I dont finish it too quick.

Cliffhanger
Was not expecting cliffhanger ending. Will not be reading book 8. Really enjoyed previous books, however was quite perturbed at sudden ending of book 7. Give me a decent ending to move to the next book.

The series is starting to get a little stale, some plots are clearly recycled and the story is running in circles. The ending makes me think that we're going for another spin...
It's still a mindless fun read but it's time the series came to it's end before it gets dull and boring.
