There are two short stories in Lori Wick’s ‘Christmas Special’ that draw attention to the precious gifts we can offer each other.
‘Christmas For Two’ contemplates the idea that it can be hard to break away from tradition, which for many means spending time with family and gathering around the Christmas tree. Ellen wishes for a different way to spend the Christmas holiday with Stan, her husband of 27 years, now that the children are married and no longer living with them. Stan is of another mind. Will they be able to break away from tradition and enjoy Christmas for two? Love is a language that does not always come easy even for couples who love each other.
In ‘The Christmas Gift’, 10-year-old Brenda is spending Christmas with her temporary foster Christian family. Years of abuse by her biological dad has made her skeptical about the love of God the Father and the reason for Christmas. It is a tender story about how a broken child has a very special Christmas.
Lori Wick is a Christian fiction writer, and these stories are overtly Christ-centered. They may not be everyone’s glass of mulled wine.

These were short, quick, clean reads set at Christmas time. I think both were written in the 90's so it was a bit funny no one having mobile phones.
Christmas for Two is about an older couple whose kids have left home and are facing Christmas alone. The husband has to decide whether or not to give his wife the Christmas holiday she has always wanted. I liked it and rate it 3 stars.
The Christmas gift was a real heart-warmer. A girl in foster care is spending her first Christmas with a loving family. I really liked it and rate it is 4 stars.
I was hoping these were going to be closer to Novella length but they were short stories and didn't take long to read at all.

What beautiful stories! It’s so uplifting to read a story (or two) that’s so well written. The second story, The Christmas Gift, actually brought happy tears to my eyes - a rarity. Thank you, Lori Wick, for your continued excellent writing! I would recommend you to anyone!

The Christmas gift did move me.. Becky made my evening .. it was a short reading in 45 minutes but the warm novella played a couple of strings in my heart .. dinner for two didn't stay with me.. that was my first Lori Wick reading. I still have to explore her longer novels to shape my view about her as an author

Now these two are my kind of Christmas stories! My favorite was the one about The Gift. What Jesus did could not have been explained in a better way. Very well done!!! well done!

Relaxing stories

Interesting and quick to read.
