Professor George O’Connor (history, Waverly U, Arts/Humanities Bldg.) had tried to call Nicole Costello (history teaching asst., Wes GF).
He did leave a message before his cell went blank.
His car went out of control, & ended up in a clump of trees.
The highway was deserted.
Or so George thought.
Nichole had to meet with Dr. Catherine Flynn (Waverly U) Dean of Arts & Humanities her new PhD advisor.

It was not exactly a marriage made in heaven.
What did Jo Mitchell tell Nicole?
Why was Officer Weston ”Wes” McAllen (Nicole’s BF, PD) taken into custody?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great mystery movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

The Professor: Book 0, Book 1, and Book 2 felt like they should have all been one book, hence I'll write one review for them all.

So I'll mark this as having spoilers as I can't keep track of what happened when. And as I said, they are really one book that the author seemed to randomly split. Even time wise, all three books were about as long as the average book I read.

With that out of the way ...
Nicole Costello is a graduate student at the prestigious Waverly University. She's not quite sure how she got in, to be honest, but feels close to her thesis advisor, Professor O'Connor. One day he mysteriously disappears, but not before leaving a cryptic half-voice mail on her phone. Despite knowing she shouldn't, she dives in to try to figure what is going on and what has happened to her professor.

As she digs, Nicole realizes her university is a hotbed of secrets and cover-ups and a mysterious secret society. And of course, once she figures it out, she is now the target the missing professor was.

This book wants to be the DaVinci code ... if the DaVinci code was one a college campus, about the studend and not the professor, and no worldwide secret organizations are involved. But there are secret messages everywhere, coded clues, and local secret societies. People who will help you or turn on you or both. Nicole must race to get the answers before it costs her her life and that of her husband's.

Just when you think you can't handle another plot twist - SURPRISE! Another plot twist. Somehow, Nicole's family is connected to this whole thing. Now Nicole really wants answers and is willing to stop at nothing to get them.

The book wasn't horrible. It wasn't super great either. It was okay. I read all three books - mostly because all three were available through kindle unlimited.

I am annoyed with Clarke for trying to break the book up into three books. Just put it all in one and be done. Your readers will thank you, I promise.

The second in author Alexandria Clarke's The Professor series. Very good and quick read for me. Kind of an edge of your seat thriller and suspense builgs throughout. Then cap it off with a shocking revelation near the the end that sure blew me away. Now for the next in the series I can find out what's going on. Thanks to the author. She did her job well. Now have to do mine.

The Professor: Book 0, The Professor: Book 1, and The Professor: Book 2, while divided into three books, they are really just one unified plot. A graduate student in history (and her police officer boyfriend) becomes involved in investigating the disappearance of her Masters advisor, who has investigating the campus evil secret society.

Wow-what a story

Well-written, engrossing, believable plot with twists and turns. I enjoyed every minute of this fascinating tale of treachery and love. Read it through in one sitting, not even taking time for a bathroom break! Looking forward to the next book.

Don't let the subtitle fool you -- my recommendation is your time is better spent with another novel.

Where do I begin? This is not about a professor, by the way -- more false advertising. Though I found promise in the driving concept of an incredibly powerful, incredibly evil secret society at an elite university that amasses fortunes through illicit practices used ruthlessly to satisfy the demands of its sadistic female leader (the Dean!), served by her alpha male fraternity boy thugs, in the execution of this novel the attractiveness of that conspiracy theory run amuck in academia floundered: the characters are flat stereotypes, the dialogues unrealistic, and the plot development irrational. Good guys all serve the heroine immediately, to whatever extent she needs; she never questions why the niece of her evil enemy would take her side, give her a car and expensive outfits, or spend her days doing computer research for the heroine who is out winning various battles and encounters. Likewise, after a professor the heroine T.A.-ed for is killed trying to get info to her, she stops by his widow's house and gets the widow to immediately focus only on her, dropping everything and putting herself in danger just for the heroine, with no time out to process or mourn her dead spouse. The bad guys reveal important clues or exposition to the heroine constantly in stupid ways, and all kinds of evidence is openly shared about secret information so much in easily traceable ways that even an idiot new to campus could figure them out and track their system down within a few hours. The heroine has great martial art skills and lots of pluck, and her boyfriend is a hunky cop who is faithful to her, and very good at what he does--except for when he is outnumbered, then she must rescue him. I wanted to like them--too bad they were trapped in an insipid rendering of a plot that seemed to be made up as we went along, with the writer sometimes forgetting what had come earlier or feeling the need to quickly throw in some action, and at other times just treading water with turgid prose, heading nowhere.

I read all the way through, and was angry when the book stopped with absolutely nothing resolved, introducing in the last couple paragraphs suddenly a new pivotal character for us to wonder about that didn't coherently connect to any storyline, then just ending. That is not the way to do a cliffhanger! I won't continue complaining, nor will I continue on to the next book, and although this is brutal, I encourage you to never begin this one.

Incomplete stoty

The story is not a standalone mystery. Just when you think you are coming to the conclusion a new character is introduced and the narrative ends. Then you are told to wait for the next installment. No a mystery isn't meant to end like that. I won't be looking for any unfinished sequels.

Predictable. Boring. And it tried way too hard to be serious. Not worth the read. I have never intentionally left a book unfinished; it just doesn't sit well with my personality. But I gave up on this one. It reminded me of the movie "The Skulls" but didn't even come close. Save your time, rent the movie instead of reading this garbage.

So very pleased to give your book a good rating.

The rating this book was well deserved. I particularly enjoyed the presentation of unexpected characters and groups. Kept me involved and thinking constantly trying to see who was going to get involved next. Truly enjoyed it.
