Thich Nhat Hanh is a global spiritual leader, peace activist, poet and the author of over 100 books. He is what Martin Luther King called, an apostle of peace and non-violence. He is the pioneer who brought Buddhism to the West. His key teachings are through mindfulness and how to live happily in the present. This eBook will introduce you to the Zen master who has inspired many to live in the present without regretting the past or worrying about the future. He is the epitome of peace. This eBook will guide and inspire through the life changing lessons from Thich Nhat Hanh
This was more a long list than a short book. The sayings are insightful and a good collection, but a list provides only limited insight. A longer structure would have more impact.
I forgot to log this and i’d been flipping through it intermittently since the start of the year — would be a nice lil bedside book for anyone who enjoys Thich Nhat Hanh and has read his books. In this, there is a blurb per page so it’s more of a collection of themes/thought starters than a full book but i enjoyed it nonetheless.
This book is an introduction to mindfulness and happiness that will leas us to live in the present; pushing away the regret of the past, and worrying about the future in exchange fro being grateful for what we had and being hopeful.
Chief among the life lessons is to focus on happiness. Truly it is a choice, and perspective we have to gain but it takes work. Instead of asking ourselves what is wrong, we should ask ourselves what is right in our lives? What do we have to be grateful for? Focus on the good in your life, what is making you happy, and what you have to look forward too. Duetting go of the hate, the pain, the sorrow and regret will release you from the past, and letting go of the worrying and anxiety of the future will release you to living in the present. By doing this can we be mindful, present and aware of our happiness.
It’s a highly quick read, and I would have given the book 5 stars if it haves us a little more, but sometimes less is more.
This tiny book contains 37 small advices. I have read many other books from Thich Nhat Hanh and could easily understand what he means by each advice. Without that knowledge I assume the advices are difficult to fully understand.
For me this little book acted more like a reminder and nice little summary what I have read in other very good books. On its own I think it is too compact to fully understand the meanings.
The author summarizes in a first person narrative. As a reader, it's difficult to determine if she's giving her experience with Bank's teachings or directly quoting.
My other !minor issue as a reader is that it would be nice to know which books she took each lesson from.
I read the book because I was looking for an idea of Thich Nhat Hanh, but instead found a collection of topics and understanding. without much relevance or reference or details. This isn't really a book, it's someone's notes while reading the book.
This book was a difficult read. There were several typographical errors and, in my opinion the author tried too hard to provide a simple explanation making it more difficult to read as well as being hard to understand.
Nuggets of wisdom to contemplate and transform your life! Each lesson is applicable, relevant; simple yet deep. I highly recommend adding this title to your book collection.
This is a quick overview of the great teacher's writing and philosophy. It is not meant to be a main course but an appetizer to get you to read on in other books of this great and life changing philosophy. I encourage you to read this.
I really enjoyed this book on the quotes of Thich Nhat Hahn. He was a very wise man and a lot can be learned from his writings. I would have given 5 stars, but there were a few minor typos that distracted me.
This is the very first book by Thich Nhat Hanh which I read. I found the person to be simple and down to earth. Simple lessons of everyday life presented in an uncomplicated way.
Helpful stuff I have to go over from time to time. Mostly it's about living in the moment, in the present. Other words of wisdom seem self-evident or could be heard from other sources.
It's a very fast read and full of helpful information. Each of the steps has a brief description that makes it understandable and then a small section about the author's personal experiences or how the lesson changes your life. It's a great little book that keeps it straight and to the point. A lot of motivational books are overwhelming with too much info or lingo. This is one I will pull out repeatedly and read again. These steps are hard and can truly change your life. It's a wonderful way to focus on them again and redirect, without a heavy book to slug through.
This book will help you motivate yourself to stand still and face tomorrow without fear bug full! Of hopes and promises. The author really did a commendable job of citing great examples which the readers could totally relate and understand. This book helps me believe in myself that I can do better after failures.
Wise words and insightful. It's a very quick read. While it's a great tool to help you lead a more positive and productive life, the book itself is just straight to the point. I didn't put the book down and think... wow that was a great read. I finished the book and thought, okay. Great advice.
