4 FERAL STARS
"I was a hunter, a feral man living out in the fucking middle of nowhere because I preferred being on my own to being around others. I tracked, hunted, and killed for my meals."
This is our hero Dillion in a nutshell.
He kills the meat that he eats and lives in a small cabin in the woods. He only comes to town periodically to buy the few supplies he needs in order to survive.
And it's on these visits that he takes notice of the heroine Lexi.
Now Lexi is a sweet little orphan and she sees in Dillion, a kindred spirit.
He may very well be the man of her dreams. She thinks "He was all raw muscle, powerful, dangerous. I felt every feminine cell in my body come alive. He called to my basic urges..."
Long story short, she was really into him!
One day, Lexi decides she's had enough of waiting for something to happen in their relationship. She dresses warmly and hikes up the mountain to the hero's cabin. Meanwhile, the hero also decides he is going to claim her when next they meet.
WELL, isn't that just so Convenient!
The story takes off from there, with some hot sex scenes and some light drama as they both adjust to each other.
It was very enjoyable and engaging.
AND HOT, did I mention that?
Now, you may well be wondering; "Chantal, with all these great things going on in this book, why only 4 stars?"
Well, ladies, I am going to be brutally honest here. The hero, while good looking and masculine, is not my dream mate.
Please, don't hate me all at once now, as I admit to liking my creature comforts.
Although this may sound romantic for a while:
"The cabin itself was void of electricity, and although through the years I could have easily rigged it so I could use the generator for more than the freezer, I preferred this simple way of living. The shower was fed from a cistern and heated by a manual fire I didn’t light more times than not."
This woman needs her electricity and her hot water.
I need food that I didn't see walking around the day before.
I NEED LATTES AND The INTERNET!

It's supposed to be an extremely hot fantasy and maybe for some it is, but not for me.
Honestly, worth a read and maybe even a reread.
I have enjoyed this book way more than some of others in Jenika Snow's A Real Man series.
I would recommend it to those who enjoy some hot FERAL loving! lol

I skimmed this and basically just flipped the pages till I got to the end. Super boring. All blah blah blah, I'm a dirty man who lives in a hut with no electricity because I'm antisocial. The girl is all blah, I have no family and you're hot, do me, blah. Then the guy does the virgin girl with the same amount of force one would when using a sledgehammer. Not sexy. This was the worst one yet. Most boring too. How is this romance or smut?

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.
Just the titleof this book should say it all! And the cover, yummy. I knew I'd like this story just because this series is great and the blurb made me want to read the story immediately. The story itself is super hot and at the same time sweet. It's a quick read, a gulty pleasure, that I can only recommend to lovers of smut and fun reads.
Both main characters knew each other for years but never really made the first step and by that I mean they never even spoken to each other. There were many stolen looks that one day lead to them actually be way more aware of what they wanted their 'relationship' to look like. Dillon has isolated himself completely after a family tragedy and now everybody in town fears him because of some rumors and his looks. Well, almost everybody. Lexi always saw something in him that no one bothered to see. And so their story starts. Two lost souls and one romantic story. What's not to love.
As characters they couldn't be more different. Dillon is your typical OTT alpha that takes what he wants. And luckily for him Lexi likes his domineering personality. They simply fit together, in more ways than imagined. I felt like some things were resolved or moved too quickly for me, but since this is a super short story that can be forgiven and it's more or less even expected. I wonder how their story would've look like has this been a full lengh story. I think the plot has some great drama potential that could make the book into a story with more depth. But we can all just speculate about what ifs. What matters is that the story as a whole is quite enjoyable and fun to read. The are some super sexy scenes that I found were super great and the chemistry between the characters is spot on.

This book reminds me “Lumberjack” by the same author. Maybe this is the reason I picked it.
Again there is a lonely caveman who lives in an isolated cabin and he has not done sex for years. And he likes talking dirty and having dirty sex. And he has a pure, golden heart. Only this time he is a hunter and an ex-soldier, not a lumberjack.
The woman this time is less experienced, but she catches up really fast. No problem there.
So if you liked “Lumberjack”, this book is for you.
Or if you haven’t read “Lumberjack” and you just enjoy caveman style smuttiness, this book is also for you.
On the other hand if you prefer central heating, electricity, wi-fi and not eating Bambi the little deer, this book is NOT for you.

Send help. I can't stop reading these horrid stories.
The main thing that bothers me the most in these books is the lack of oral sex. There is no foreplay. It's "I'M A BIG STRONG MAN AND I'M GONNA GIVE IT TO YOU HARD EVEN IF YOU'RE A VIRGIN OH YEAH THAT FEELS GOOD DOESN'T IT BABY?"
Also the propensity for the heroes to need to "watch as cum slipped from her pussy" is kind of unnerving.
I am happy that there was a longer Raahoshing scene in this, but on the whole, the sex in this, as with the other 6 installments, was disappointing and not sexxay.
I've come this far, I guess I have to finish the series?

Another great book of this series. I enjoyed it a lot.
The story is about Dillon and Lexi.
Dillon is a loner. He lives in a cabin in the middle of the woods and only comes down once a month to get his supplies and to see Lexi who's working as a cashier at a grocery store.
Everyone's afraid of him except her. There's a lot of rumors about him and Lexi can't take it anymore and defended him.
He stayed away from her for years because he thought she deserves someone better. But she can't wait anymore and looked for him. Only he was the one who found her when she hurt herself looking for his place. He took him to his cabin and took care of her.
There are two epilogues.

Well this was a hot, dirty and well...feral little novella. I loved it! It definitely would have been a 5-star read for me if it had been a full length novel. It had the potential to be great. I think it's my favorite in the series. There was just something about Dillon that I loved. He was that dirty-talking alpha with that "MINE" mentality that I really, really dig.

This was a short, hot and steamy read. Jenika Snow's books that I have read in "the Real Man" series remind me a lot of Alexa Riley's work. The stories are quite short, but they are very blazing hot with the sex!! If you are not into an insta-love kind of read, then this would not be the book for you. For in all of this series, the hero and heroine meet, fall in quick lust, and then get it on!!! LOL After that, they fall in love...the hero is majorly alpha, as well as possessive to the extreme..When I'm in the mood, I love this kind of read!! The trick for me though....I have to be in the mood for it!!
In this installment, the hero is a recluse who lives in a cabin in the woods. He only comes to town once a month for groceries...this is where he lays on a woman whom he wants to make "his". Our heroine has noticed the "reclusive man" and is hot for his bod too! She decides to travel up the mountain to find his cabin and let him know how she feels about him. Unfortunately she finds trouble along the way...Will her saviour find her in time??
My only complaint with this book was that I wished it were longer. I love this kind of storyline, and I think this one would have been perfect to make into a full length story. For a short read though, it was very enjoyable! I got exactly what I wanted from this gem, and can't wait to check out some more of this author's work!!

This was a quick read I forgot to review.
I liked this one a little better that Experienced and mostly because it seemed to have a little extra something to the story.
Dillon is the hero who is a recluse that many in town think is a monster except for the heroine Lexi. There are many rumors about him and Lexi stands up for him because she feels a connection and understanding of him. So she goes to meet him not knowing he is planning on going after her too.
The hero is the silent dark kind of hero. He prefers to live off the grid and doesn't care what anyone else thinks. The heroine wants the hero because she feels he can understand what she has gone thru too.
It was a really sweet short that felt complete.

I don't know why but JS' work is sometimes a big hit for me and other times the opposite. Although I have not religiously followed this series, I have now read a couple of books from it that I have managed to convince myself to get. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me as I had expected.
Although I admire the trust that Lexi had on Dillon, it still bothered me how she decided to easily approach him. It would've been really alarming in real life. So I guess it's a good thing that this was a work of fiction, and that made it easier to accept. She was lucky Dillon was not a freakin' rapist or murderer!
With that crazy thought out of my head, I guess Lexi and Dillon's story was an okay one. Steamy and full of (good) tension, it managed to be an improved read than from when I started it. Great epilogues, too!

Oh man, Dillon is my favorite type of character. Broody and a loner, everyone is wary of him and avoids him, and he hates everyone except for that one girl. And that one girl is Lexi.
Lexi works at a grocery store and Dillon only comes down from his remote cabin on the mountain once a month - and every single time he does it’s when she’s working. He never talks to anyone, never smiles, always super serious looking and he always picks her register. Mmm... that’s on purpose because he wants her. And Lexi is also drawn to him.
One day she finally decides to hike up the mountain to find him but ends up falling and hitting her head, and guess who rescues her and brings her to his cabin? Ohhhh yes.
From there on out it’s sexual tension and lust galore. Dillon wanted to own her, possess her.. and she wanted it just as much.
Lexi is a virgin and Dillon hasn’t been with a woman in years. The first time they’re together is super hot.
The epilogue is also everything that I love in stories like these.

Just not for me at all. Too fast although the set up could have worked with a more complete story. The smutty bits just made me wince. Not because they were smutty but because they werepoorly written awkward smut. The whole thing was too improbable. And you knew next to nothing about the characters. Plus the use of English wasn't polished. I wish authors would understand that who belongs with a person and that belongs with a thing. That was only one indication of the need for more thought put into the actual writing process.

OTT possessive alpha with a tortured soul who likes to live in the mountains off the grid and a woman who feels alone after losing her only family. I like how they were attracted to each other from seeing each other from the beginning, but finally Lexi decides that she wants to get to know him better and hikes up the mountain to find him. In the meantime, Dillon has decided he was going to head down the mountain and start courting Lexi (he only makes a monthly trip down the mountain to get supplies). Lexi hurts herself while looking for Dillon and he brings her back to his cabin to recuperate and off we go with the sweaty sex. And did I mention she's a virgin and he hasn't had sex in years since he's come back from the being deployed with the military? Sexy times, sexy times...

This is one of the sweeter ones in this series. Dillion lost his brother to drugs after he got back from fighting in the war, and Lexi recently lost her mother. They’re both alone in the world and Lexi finds herself attracted to the town recluse.
She goes hiking and falls and hits her head and he finds her and nurses her back. Spicy and very sweet, these two deserve each other in the best way!

I guess it is public knowledge by now that giving me a short story to read is usually a 70/30 % chance of receiving a review of 3 or even less stars.
Which is why I was surprised by Feral (A Real Man #7) by Jenika Snow. This book is totally missing depth and character development – but still somehow Jenika Snow manage to write a story around that issue that I read from beginning to end and I can not find to many issues with it if I do not stick to my principals to much.
And somehow the plot really invites me to forget about those principals as it will draw you in. It is almost as raw and untamed as its leading character.

Lexi has been fascinated by Dillon since she can remember. The hard edged man who only comes into town once a month to get necessities, Lexi sees through his exterior and believes they both have something in common. When Lexi decides to act on that feeling, she lands at Dillon's feet.
Dillon has always wanted Lexi, now that he has her he needs to convince her that he is not letting her go.
This was a bit quick, I wish the characters were developed a little bit more. I liked that they had a simple life and were so wrapped up in each other, but had some questions that I think a longer story could have answered. Always enjoy Jenika Snow's books.

The Real Man series has another winner in Feral.
I loved every word of this story. Dillon is definitely an alpha man. Lexi is sweet and takes a chance to find her soul mate and the man she has loved from afar.
Dillon Sparrow is ex-military and when he came home it was to find his younger brother dead, the last of his family.
Lexi works in a grocery store where Dillon comes once a month to purchase supplies. She has a life of loneliness, without family or friends.
Two lonely, solitary people that are in some way or another broken, but meant for each other.
I loved every word of this story. Dillon is definitely an alpha man. Lexi is sweet and takes a chance to find her soul mate and the man she has loved from afar.

Normally I love the strong, silent insta-lusty love alpha type, but not today.
In all fairness, to the Feral cohorts and Jenika Snow, I was reading most of it during a middle school dodgeball tournament as I subbed. I NEVER read when I substitute, but..dodgeball...tournament....HELL.
Back in the day, we used to call it bombardment.

3.5 RATING- I've been in a terrible book funk lately. Just nothing working for me and no real interest in whatever I pick up, so decided to try a short one. This worked just fine! Silly and ridiculous with OTT characters but enjoyable all the same.

Loved these two. Dillon, is a loner that pretty much lives off the land and keeps to himself, since his family is all gone.. Lexi is also alone since her mom has passed, just working in town and "existing". Dillon comes to town once a month for supplies and to basically see Lexi, since she works at the store he goes to. They are two lonely hearts that complete each other, soul mates. Lexi finally decides to do something about it and goes up the mountain to find Dillon and tell him how she feels. She gets spooked and falls. Dillon finds her and nurses her back to health.
Dillon is the definitely a "caveman"....but that is exactly what I liked about him, and I am not alone in that, because that is exactly what Lexi likes about him too. He is so passionate and fiercely protective...*swoon*....calling dibs on this one. "I felt like a fucking animal with her right now, and all I wanted to do was devour every part of her."....he is just crazy about her, what girl doesn't want that. But he is also so good to her and with her..."She is mine. My woman. The woman I love more than life itself. My wife."...seriously he is total book boyfriend material right here...added him to my BBC (book boyfriend collection). Absolutely freaking loved these two.

Lexi has been in love with Dillon for years. He's quiet and stays to himself since all of his family has passed away. Having lost her family too, Lexi believes they are similar and would be perfect together.
Dillon has wanted Lexi since the moment he saw her. Sadly, he thinks she's too good for him so he keeps his distance. He believes he has too much darkness inside and would hurt her.
Lexi finally gets brave enough to approach Dillon and tell him her feelings. On the way to his cabin, she's injured. Dillon finds her and realizes it's time he make Lexi his.
This was an okay read. However, I found there to be a lot of repetitive inner dialogue by both Lexi and Dillon. There were a number of questions left unanswered and missed opportunities to provide the reader background information that would have helped the story. Instead of repeating the same thoughts, we could have learned more about these charatcers. Why did Dillon assualt those guys or did he even do it? What about information about his time in the military? What happened to his parents? It says Lexi's mom died, where's her dad?
But like I said, it's an okay read with a sexy protective mountain man and the woman he wants, who has wanted him just as long.

We are onto the next real man!! I don't get the title when Dillon wasnt really Feral. :/ this one was short and little steam.
Lexi has heard the rumors and see the stares and gossip about Dillon, saying he killed men with his bear hands to avenge his brothers death. Lots of gory things were said about the mountian man. Which Lexi had some words for the towns people. Informing Dillon not to listen to anyone.
As for Dillon he has crushed/fantasized about Lexi for awhile now but he knows he older and has to many demons to be with her, so he shall enjoy her from far away.
Hiking boots on and determed to talk some more and see what can happen with her mountian man. Lexi heads up but some accident has her head pounding and stuck with Dillon like she sorta wanted and well just alot of sexy times.. still dont get the feral?
