The Phoenix Pack #6

Fierce Obsessions

Rate this book

When raven shifter Riley Porter was given sanctuary by the Phoenix Pack, she let them believe she had left her flock. Reluctant to divulge the secrets of her past, she was still embraced as family. Only Tao Lukas, the protective and passionate Head Enforcer of the pack, was resistant to the enigmatic shifter. Until Riley started to arouse in him something other than suspicion...

Tao doesn’t trust lone shifters, especially ones so guarded - and tempting. But the sexual tension between them is making them both come undone, and vulnerable to more than desire. All Tao wants is for Riley to stay with him and to trust him with the truth of her past...

As Riley’s mysteries come to light, so does a danger that threatens not only her life but the safety of the entire pack. For Tao, keeping Riley safe means keeping her close - forever - as his mate!

Sweet, let's roll.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I adore Suzanne Wright books.
And I adore the books in this series.

Yes, they all have OTT alpha males.
Yes, they have somewhat exchangeable snarky lead females.
Yes, these females always have epic one-liners.
Yes, they always argue with Greta the grouch.

In fact...not gonna lie...

Book in this series pretty much follow the same basic pattern.

And you know what?

description

Because this formula totally works for me and I dig it.

Now, I know some people like complete and total originality.
Or flowers blooming...
And birds singing to groundbreaking soundtracks or something...

But me?

description

Now, I understand that this isn't everyone's bag.

In fact, people who have read and loved other books in this series might feel like this is just more of the same.

Which it kind of is.

In fact, someday, I too might reach the point where where I am over the formula and want something different.

description

And until then I will keep scarfing this shit down like a whale with some krill.

Now, moving on.

Fans of the series will remember that Tao had a 'lil thang for Taryn in book one...I was a little worried about how Wright would vault that little hurdle, but never fear, she manages it.

I loved the glimpses of Riley we got in the books preceding this one and she was definitely awesome. I especially loved her being a raven shifter - and the first non-predator shifter we have had so far, folks - so take that originality.

What I loved the most about this book though is that it jumped right in from the get go.
RIGHT in. *wink* *wink*

I also enjoyed that we got to spend some time with a raven "flock."

The plot line here was a little weak in some aspects, I must say, but again...

description

Other than that, this book brought all the stuff that I love from Wright and, as always, I look forward to the next one.

* May have mild spoilers*

As a huge Suzanne Wright fan I tend to read every book of hers that I come across. So when I seen and grabbed Fierce Obsessions from Netgalley I did a little happy dance. When I seen it was Tao's book I did a happy squeal. Like always Suzanne Wright delivered a great read that made me laugh out loud and kept me happy for hours. I have been wanting Tao's book for a while now. I have loved him, Ryan, and Dom since book 1. Now I just need Dom's book and all will be right in my world. I wouldn't mind Trick's book too. I can't wait to see if Trick ends up mated to a male or female.

"I swear I can still taste you. Still feel you squeezing my cock. If you expect me to walk away and forget what it's like to be in you, tasting you, exploding deep inside you, you're out of your mind."-Tao

 photo Tao and Riley_zps5otncw7o.jpg

"They're just tits, Tao." He hadn't realized he'd been staring at them until then. Tao forced his eyes back to hers. "Your nipples are hard." "So is your cock."-Riley and Tao

Tao was Tao. I already loved him. As a reader of this series I have had many books to get to know Tao and fall in love with him. He was just as great in this book as he was in the others. Strong, outspoken, fiercely protective, loyal, and sexy as hell. Riley was great too. She was funny, laid back, had a sassy mouth, was a kick ass fighter, at times a little closed off, but protective of those she loved. Riley and Tao together had me laughing so hard. They picked on and fought with each other like foreplay. I thought it was hilarious that Riley would steal Tao's things and make up random statistics. They had a great relationship build up and a strong connection. The passion was of course great because Suzanne Wright knows how to write some smokin' hot smexy time.

"Good. Now on to the next thing: where's my watch, Riley? I had it yesterday morning." She raised an imperious brow. "Oh, I see, because ravens like to collect shiny things, you think I took it?" "No, I think you took it because you took it. You always steal my shit." He pointed to the iPad on the dresser, proving his point. "Borrow, I borrow your stuff." "Without my permission, which makes it stealing." "Only if you want to get technical about it."- Tao and Riley

 photo d349bb2859caba401d3da1755ee6d762_zpsjjhdae4j.gif

"You're not listening to me, are you?" Blinking, Riley looked up from her seat at the breakfast bar. "I am," she lied. "Oh yeah?" said Tao, doubt heavy in his voice. "What did I just say?" She pursed her lips. "I'm still processing it." "What exactly are you processing?" "Let's not revisit the past, Tao."-Tao and Riley

I really loved getting to catch up with all the past couples and the kids. Trey and Taryn are of course my all time favorite couple of the series still, but they are just so epic. I enjoyed Riley's uncles. I kinda wanted them to join the Phoenix pack too. I really loved the kids Dex and Savannah. They just have such cute personalities. There was plenty of ass kicking action in this book to keep it from getting boring. I really loved that Riley was kicking ass with the best of them. I especially loved how when some one pissed her off she would just grab em by the throat. The throat grab upped her bad ass points in my book. Overall a great addition to this series. I can't wait for the next book. Here's hoping it's Dom.

"I'm thinking about fucking your mouth, to be exact." "Of course you are," she said drily. "You're a boy. Boys are delusional." He smiled. "You're not going to let me feel what it's like to slide my cock in your mouth? That doesn't seem fair. I go down on you all the time." "Oh, I won't deny you eat pussy like a champ." He laughed. "Like a champ?" "Totally. But you know, over seventy percent of erectile dysfunction cases are caused by having too many blow jobs." "They are not." "They could be,"-Tao and Riley

Who would have thought that a raven and a wolf would make an adorably, compatible couple!

description

When we first meet Riley she's a lone raven shifter at the shelter that has grown attached to two shifter children, Dexter and Savannah. When the Phoenix Pack adopts the children Riley comes with them. Both children are very attached to Riley and she in turn is quite protective of them. But with adults it's a different story, she's aloof, defensive and doesn't open up easily. After she joins the Pack she refuses to give them any explanations as to why she's not living with her flock and that makes Tao distrust her. He already doesn't like changes and strangers.

description

Tao is Kye's bodyguard and an Enforcer in the Pack so it's his job to keep everyone safe. He might have initially been hostile to Riley but he can't fight his attraction to her. And while he's seen the error of his ways and now wants to pursue her, he's in a bit of a pickle as to how to attract her after his assholish behaviour. And it so happens he wont have to try hard as Riley is already attracted to him. After a night of heavy drinking and partying they end up together. While Riley is under the impression this would be a one-night stand, Tao wants more and has his work cut out for him trying to convince her. When Riley has to visit her flock, he goes with her and of course trouble follows.

description

I really enjoyed reading about Riley's flock and the differences between them and the pack. Though some things felt a bit familiar, like that one bitch that's in every book that makes everyone's life hell. And I'm not even talking about Gretchen, sorry not sorry, Greta. You know the one I'm talking about right? It's the token slut that everyone hates with good reason. And before you tell me I'm slut shaming a fictional character, we're talking about someone that made it a mission to sleep with all the males in the flock just so she could torture their future mates mates that she had them first and she was a better lay.

What I really liked though was Riley's and Tao's progression as a couple. Both have their defenses but they were valid and not overdone or overdrawn, for me. Their compatibility, especially since they are so fundamentally different, wasn't evident from the get go but you discovered it right along with them. Their relationship developed naturally and had a good pace with lots of sizzling, hot sex as only Suzanne Wright can write.

It doesn't matter to me if you're the other half of my soul or not. You're in my soul. I don't know how you got there, I really don't but you are.

I loved visiting with the Pack and reading bits about the rest of them, especially Makenna and Ryan. As always the Pack is united against anything that will come their way. The support and love for each other is evident throughout the whole book and as usual makes for a great read.

Audio "re-read" 10/2/19 - Tao and Riley aren't even by favorite couple from this serie sbut I flew through this audio. It was one of the more suspenseful ones and I just couldn't stop listening.

Fierce Obsessions follows Tao, the enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, and Riley, whose new to this group. For Tao it's hard for him to trust the newcomer, yet he can't deny the attraction and pull he feels towards Riley. Eventually the sexual tension becomes too much for either to deny and they decide to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement - but once Riley starts opening up Tao realizes he may never want to let her go.

The Phoenix Pack series is one of my all time favorites so of course I jumped on the chance to read this one. I loved getting more of the insane attraction that was happening between Tao and Riley and it had me rooting for them this entire read. I just loved both of these characters and they are definitely one of my favorite couples of this series. Tao was so growly and tough, but he cared for those in his Pack very much and I really liked seeing that, especially when he took Riley under his care too.

One of the best things about Suzanne Wright's books is that she knows how to give us the perfect amount of side characters. I hate when I read a series that has way too much going on with other characters and it ends up taking my focus away from the MC's. But with SW that never happens. We still get to see past/secondary characters but they never take over the story and I love that.

Bottom line, this is a great addition to the rest of the series and it has me already begging for more. This is probably one of my most re-read series and this book will be no different, I'm already itching to read it again!

"Riley's my business."

The PACK IS BACK! Suzanne Wright is by far the QUEEN of SHIFTER romance, and I am always overcome with glee when I read her work. She has a particular formula that just works EVERY SINGLE TIME! Each book can be read as a stand-alone; however, I highly recommend reading the entire series (and The Mercury Pack Series), to fully appreciate the beauty of the relationships between all of these characters. The Phoenix Pack is growing and changing and the time has come for Tao to find his mate!

description
"You see, deep inside Riley is a little girl who doesn't think she's enough to hold anyone to her."
Riley has been living with the Phoenix pack ever since the shelter she was staying in (after leaving her pack) was put in danger. Finding refuge with the wolves was hard for her. Being a raven shifter, she doesn't quite fit in with the pack and the pack enforcer Tao is especially leery of her presence. But the two young children shifters she has been taking care of keeps her grounded. After a night of pack partying, Tao and Riley cross the line and find one night of passion. Although Tao was originally against Riley making the pack her home, he has now changed his mind about Riley and her place in his world. He wants her with his pack and specifically in his bed as his mate.

description
"Her taste was his very own aphrodisiac, as though her pussy had been made just for him."
Riley isn't so certain about letting anyone in. After experiencing heartbreak and trauma from her previous pack, she is hesitant to trust anyone. When problems from her past catch up with her, Tao and the pack are pulled into the line of fire. Can Tao convince Riley to trust him and fully give herself to him?

description
"This situation is actually very simple. You're mine now. I'm yours. This is exclusive. Permanent. And it's what we both want."
Told in dual POV, Fierce Obessions is another winning read. The passion between Riley and Tao is explosive, and I love me some pack love. Every time I read a book in this series, it makes me want to go back and re-read each book so that I can savor every single moment. The relationships are all unique, and each character is complex with their background story and circumstances. Riley and Tao both have strong personalities and together they are a powerhouse! With explosive action, intrigue, romance, and passion, Fierce Obessions is not to be missed!

description

Overall, I will never get enough of Suzanne Wright's writing. I find this paranormal world magical, and every time I join the pack on an adventure I am completely swept away. I adore this world and I cannot wait for more!

Werewolf stories are one of the standard go-tos for me when I start to think it’s probably time to conduct some science experiments with my husband, if ya know what I’m sayin’. They tend to average about 3 Stars, follow similar storylines and one blends right into the other. But I still request them almost every time I see one available because . . . .

Sadly, Fierce Obsessions ended up being seriously meh for me. Am I going to have to turn in my slut card??????

Hopefully not.

While there were the trademark wolfy story things like ooooooh that smell – can’t you smell that smell???? (this time it was “harvest spice, warm apple and wood smoke” for him and “dark-red fruit, coconut milk and black lace” (WTF does lace smell like?!?!?!?!) for her), a mystery to be solved, the two leads hating each other (which meant they waited until like page 2 to start banging), etc. – the difference this time was that she was a . . . . . .

There was also a difference with him. I read these books for quality assholes who say things like . . . .

But Tao? He was more like . . . . .

Seriously:

“You don’t get to tell me what to do just because we fuck.”

“Fuck?” It was a whisper. “We fuck? That’s it?”

If you guessed the dude said the first line, you’d be wrong. Like I said . . . .

I did get a little chuckle at the nickname “Fenris” . . . . .

But it would have been more impressive if she’d used Maugrim instead . . . .

Shut up, Mitchell.

Anyway, things got worse for me when it came to the sexuals which had things like this happening . . . .

“He used one finger to scoop up some of her cream.”

That sounds like a yeast infection. Sorry husband, no science for you. Not to mention the trademark “claiming of her ass” that has to happen in all wolfporn WITH. NO. LUBE. W-T-Actual-F?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I guess he just used all that extra cheese from her taco to grease the poopshoot.

So this one didn’t work out so great for me or my sploosh factory, but Val liked it okay and she’s a better wolf ho than I am so I’m sure she’s the one who read it right.

I actually like this author's books. (Before I start this review I wanted to get that out of the way.)

I got started on this book and was reading along enjoying myself. It's one of those hate each other but not really type of romances between a wolf guy and a raven woman. Pretty interesting...so I'm still reading.

I totally am liking the female character. She has a bit of sass to her.
"Still, she wasn't a major problem until she grew tits and boys started looking her way; then she turned into a complete nightmare Brash, bitchy, fashion-conscious, and totally obsessed wit the male gender. Seriously, she gave away more pussy than a cat rescue center."

I snorted.

Then I get to one of the sexy times..and so far the sexy times had been pretty hot in the story.
He used one finger to scoop up some of her cream

My mind couldn't function after that. It happens to me. I think I have the OCD.

I keep reading about him doing some munchy time downstairs on her and I kept thinking of the stories he could tell his wolf buds.

Seriously, people..get that stuff checked.

The thing that's even worse? I didn't hate the dang book. I read it all and pretty much enjoyed it except for the almost throwing up part.

I'm going with 2.5 stars for it though, because the creamy stuff mixed in with the supposed alpha male being weaker than his kick ass raven girl friend had me confused.

What else is new?

I knew this was going to be good and it DID NOT disappoint! If I'm in the mood for sexy shifters, hot AF steamy scenes, and fantastic narration----I grab an audiobook by Suzanne Wright. Seriously, folks she can do no wrong in my eyes. I lurve her books!

So here's the breakdown: Wolf meets Raven and immediately hates her, only he doesn't really hate her. What he really hates is that he can't control his libido! So, they do the whole male/female song and dance for a little while. They face a few challenges from outside sources, but ultimately have lots and lots steamy unparalleled sex and fall in love.

Here's what I love about the series: There's a bit of drama, a dash of mystery, and sprinkle of danger included. If you've read Suzanne before you get it. She follows her formula. If you haven't read Suzanne...WHY???
The characters are awesome, the storyline is great, and did I mention the steamy, unparalleled love-making? Yep. It awesome if that's jam.

I love this series and never want it end. If S.W. keeps writing them, I'll keep reading/listening to them and recommending them. The audiobooks are amazing! Great pace, inflection, and overall performance. 2 Thumbs up!

What is it about this author!! I can literally listen to her books over and over again. Even though these books are all similar, I just don't care. Seriously, this author can do no wrong in my mind. Girl just keep writing the same storyline over and over again and I will one click that shit every-time!

The characters are perfect. Snarky women, OTT alpha males. The banter with Greta is hilarious. Of course the side characters will make you smile always.

This book is about Tao and Riley. Love seeing a raven and wolf together and their banter was great. Her random facts were hilarious - I'm definitely going to inform my husband about the blowjobs leading to erectile dysfunction. Seriously, it could happen. I also love the fact that she "borrowed" his stuff all the time.

There is nothing I can say about these books that no body else has. If you haven't started these, pick up Feral Sins and just go! You won't be disappointed - and if you aren't at least a little bit entertained by the hotness of these smutastic books, go ahead and unfriend me now because I just don't think our relationship is going to work. Well except Karen - I'm stuck with her even if she won't read these.

3.5* more than you know STARS!!

Suzanne Wright is a must read for me. This story is about Tao Lukas, Head Enforcer of the Phoenix Pact and a longtime friend of the Alpha, Trey. I was waiting for his story until I forget it. The Pack is growing so fast with so many additional characters. Anyway, as much as I want to love this, but it's really hard for me. The main story feels repetitive also the romance and sex.

Riley Porter worked for shiter shelter from the previous book. She followed her friend, Makenna and join the Phoenix Pact recently. Riley brought two kids with her, Savannah (viper) and Dexter (cheetah). She didn't feel welcome especially by a certain person, Tao. But they couldn't deny the sexual tension after their one night stand. It's only for sex, they said.

description

As a lone raven shifter, Riley is very private and guarded person. I also found Savannah and Dexter are really enjoyable kids. They're not the whinny/bratty type. Riley lost her parents at very young age and she was taken care by both her uncles. After she talked a bit about her past, I could understand Riley.

description

Tao is one of the most complicated person in the outside. But once you know him, he's full of marshmallow. The hate-love relationship between Tao and Riley are really undeniable. Tao was full on caveman mode on Riley. He wants to redeem himself to be with Riley and being with her like almost everywhere. I know it's a bit suffocated but Riley seems okay.

I loved the banter between Riley and Tao, but the chemistry itself not enough to make them in love/imprinting. They're just simply like a lovey dovey couple all the time. Tao turns into cheese on the top of cheese. And Riley who wants to appear bad-ass didn't feel like it. The sex was still great and hot as usual but nothing's new.

The main conflict came from Riley's past also human threat to the Phoenix Pact. I really enjoyed the suspense. The story was nicely written but somehow it feels a bit slow than the usual. Sadly, I couldn't connect with both MCs. Overall, it was a good read but didn't WOW me anymore. Still enjoyable, though.

An enjoyable addition to the series, good chemistry between Riley and Tao, this book delves into both the lead characters well.

There isn't much difference between the male enforcers in each story, they're very similar to one another which is somewhat disappointing as it means we aren't given something new - but this is still a book I've read more than once when I want to unwind for a bit.

Love seeing the kids in this, they're an ace addition to each scene they are in.

4 stars.
Basically speaking I really love this author's work. I have read all the books in this series and have rated them all 4 stars or more and Tao and Riley's story was no exception. By now I pretty much know what to expect from these paranormal shifter romances(they have a distinct formula) but that in no way diminishes any of the enjoyment reading these stories with their over the top alpha males and sassy females.
They are way fun and highly addictive.

FIERCE OBSESSIONS is the sixth book in The Phoenix Pack Series and we have Tao's book here. To be honest I didn't think I was going to like Tao's book all that much, because, let's be honest, some of the time Tao is an ass. And plus we just met Riley is the previous book, and didn't know too much about her, but surprisingly this book was very entertaining.

Tao probably won't ever be one of my favorite shifters, but I still enjoyed the book. I mainly enjoyed learning more about Riley. And I love her as a heroine. We basically have the sam formula every book. Overbearing Alpha male, sexy times, Humor, Bitches mouthing off to the heroine. I love it all! FIERCE OBSESSIONS was way way better than the previous book. Looking forward to the next Suzanne Wright book!

SW had me fascinated with Riley when she was introduced in Savage Urges. A raven and a wolf - who woulda thunk? And it totally worked because Riley is kickass tough with such a soft centre that she keeps well hidden. She takes no prisoners, is protective, loyal, strong, resilient and gives her all for those she loves. Tao is a alpha hardass, with a huge dollop of alpha hotness - just like I like them - ALL alpha. And this is why SW's writing totally works for me.

I did worry that Riley was going to go TSTL on me, thankfully that didn't happen. There was a little bit of pushing away, but Tao being the hardass was just totally oblivious to this and charged full steam ahead to get his girl.

I loved spending time with the Phoenix pack, catching up with old friends and snorting at the banter that SW excels at.

I've been so excited for Riley and Tao's book and it didn't disappoint at all. They've been dancing around each other for awhile now and it was awesome to watch them finally succumbing to their feelings for each other. I've liked Riley right from the start, but Tao's always been pretty reserved so even though I didn't dislike him, I also felt like I didn't know him to well before this book. Tao really comes out of his shell for Riley and I really enjoyed getting to know him better and falling in love with him just like I have with all the other wonderful characters in this series. And we get to spend time with all our favourite characters, including Dexter and Savannah who are just so cute and I hope we can get more scenes with them in the future. I'm loving the introduction of new shifter species, it opens up so many new storylines, like Riley's, and I am so excited about all the possibilities. Looking forward to the next book, I can't decide if I want Dominic's or Trick's more lol

Tao and Riley's Story: 4.5 Stars!

Suzanne Wright sure has a way with making opposites attract work in the best of ways. Tao and Riley both have very strong personalities. You wouldn't think they could work as a couple but they were the perfect compliment to each other.

I'm a big fan of this author because she brings me the dominant males I like to read about in my books but she's also very good at writing strong female role models. One's who not only handle the alpha male with finesse, but gives as good as they get. No doormat heroines with this author.

In previous books, you would not have thought to put this couple together. They seemed to not like each other, yet the transition from hate to lust to love was done smoothly and effortlessly.

I love when a couple can argue sensibly and not react in stupid ways. The way these two worked together made the story a fun read and so many great side characters to add to the overall enjoyment of the story. I can't wait for more! ARC provided by NetGalley.

“You really should learn to control your anger better. Eighty-Eight percent of men with bad tempers end up with high blood pressure and die an early death.” “They do not.” “They could do.”

I originally gave it 4 stars but what the heck I've bumped it up to 5 stars.

Ms. Wright is the dog's bollocks. It’s a compliment believe me. She is my one click. My go to author. My if the world is a being a fickle bugger she will get me out of my funk author. For me she is one of the best paranormal romance authors out there. With Fierce Obsessions, she absolutely got it right.

I worship the ground you walk on. This author thinks out of the box when it comes to shifters. Wolves, wolves are everywhere but other shifters be it Marquay or in this case Ravens? Bloody brilliant I tell you.

As a reader, I dread when an author sticks to the mold that they use. SW has taken on board not what not to do and has developed and expanded on the world that she has created and made a world different from other shifter romances. Fingers crossed for The Movement as a series.

If you hadn’t guessed then I’m a total fan girl. So, sue me!

I want to go into the plot of the story but I won’t what I can say is that it is gripping, in depth and unique naturally I loved every moment of it.

Riley Porter is one of the best heroines that I have read in the series. She is a rock especially for the kids. She is ruthless, fierce, vengeful and so very over protective but has always tried to keep her distance from the pack.

Times run out sweetheart.

Tao Lukas, head enforcer has wanted Riley from the start although he has acted like he didn't. Tao is so fucking sweet and yet a total badass he will protect all of his pack. Tao doesn’t like humans he doesn’t get them and he can be really mean.

Together the chemistry is fierce. It is true opposites do attract. They have a fantastic rapport going on. I could go on and on about it but basically just read it.

The minute I learned Fierce Obsessions was coming out I grinned like a lunatic and yelled “Gimme!”. The books in this series tend to follow a certain formula but what a formula it is. Ms. Wright’s heroes are always OTT alpha’s that can dirty talk like nobody’s business, her heroines are badass and snarky, and the chemistry is off the charts hot. Needless to say, I cannot get enough.

Fierce Obsessions starts with a bang, well, technically it starts with the after effects of a drunk-out-of-your-mind kind of bang. Riley wants to forget it ever happened but Tao has a different idea.

I read that and immediately messaged Sparkles and Lily thrilled that I’d hit the dirty talking alphahole motherlode. I could wax poetic about how freaking awesome Tao is for days but I’ll just say he’s hot, sexy, awesome, sneaky, and absolutely perfect for Riley. He played her like a fiddle, in more ways than one.

I’ve wanted to know more about Riley since Makenna’s story. The fact she’s a raven is cool enough, but the mystery surrounding her and the way she was so protective over Savannah and Dexter intrigued me. Nothing about Riley disappointed and I was thrilled she was such a good match for Tao. Her story was heartbreaking and nothing like I thought it would be. When the action moved over to her old flock, things took on a whodunit type vibe with fingers pointing everywhere. I did enjoy meeting Riley’s uncles, but I gotta say, the rest of her flock were less than impressive.
description
Along with the mystery going on over at Raven’s flock, a mobster wants Taryn to perform an impossible task and gets offended when she doesn’t comply. Although interesting, as a side story it felt unneeded and I kept wanting to wave it away when it came up. When things heated up, I think it took away from the final resolution to the mystery and the ensuing battle.

My other little niggling annoyance was Greta. Her antics are becoming more annoying than anything else and just aren’t funny anymore. Since she regularly targets Savannah and Dexter, I’m finding I have less and less patience with her and also wonder why the men put up with it. Her excuse for targeting a child didn’t hold water for me at all.

Even with my two little issues, I loved this book and absolutely devoured it. Both Tao and Riley were everything I wanted them to be. Fierce Obsessions was fun, suspenseful and hotter than Hades. I’m hoping Dominic is next, but it very well could be Trick. Either way, I’ll be thrilled.

Spice’s Rating: 4.5 Hot, Hot, Hot Stars

Fierce Obsession is Tao & Riley’s story. This is a good addition to the series but the further we go the more repetitive it is starting to seem but I still can’t help myself, I still enjoy the series and will keep coming back.

Dominic blinked at the sight of them. “Now that’s something you don’t see every day.”

As what Dominic said, we rarely see an avian and wolf shifter pairing but Tao and Riley made it work. The two is perfect for each other. I also love the snarky humor, fun characters, the suspense and Hot 🔥 sex. Then there's the kids. Kye is still my favorite but I couldn’t help but adore Savannah and Dexter they worm their way to my heart.

I seriously love the Mercury/Phoenix Pack series... Off to the next one 😊

Due to life getting in the way, I was unable to read this book as quickly as I wanted. Once I started I didn’t want to stop. It was a fast paced smooth moving story with characters that kept me engaged and a plot that I needed to follow every step of the way.

Riley is a raven shifter that is living with a wolf pack. No one knows why she left her previous pack but they are accepting of her nevertheless. Tao is a wolf that doesn’t like anyone from outside of his pack. He’s highly suspicious of strangers and that includes Riley.
I haven’t read the previous books in this series so I’m unsure what led up to a drunken hook up between these two. However, once they’re together, they ignite the pages of this book with a fierce passion and connection.

Tao is an abrasive, tactless, and direct hero that isn’t concerned with keeping his thoughts from those around him. Riley is a tough, independent heroine that is comfortable letting her inner strength show in all that she does. Normally, it would seem this couple could not work together. However, as they move forward to solve a mystery related to Riley’s past, as well as other danger that is aimed at the wolf pack, it becomes obvious that this pair is perfect for each other. I especially loved the fact that Tao’s character didn’t change once he began to give into his feelings for Riley. He was still harsh and confrontational and she was completely capable of dealing with him and turning the tables on him at times.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys shifter stories as well as a couple that know how to deal with their issues in a straight up manner without all the push and pull.

Okay, I'm kinda late for the party but no biggie, I came with the bang (pun intended duh?! Lol)

Anyhow, I own this book in paperback ( i have it signed too, by my Suz from #RAREBerlin2017) so, I took my time 'owning' it

Even though, the equation of the pattern formula doesn't brake its mold, honestly as long as I dig those dominant, possessive alphas, we're good to go!

And here, Tao Lukas the Head enforcer of the Phoenix pack was 'it' for me, add a fierce'raven' shifter with a firm attitude as sass...and sexy sparks fly

Hell to the yes!

Another great re-read in the pocket !! 3/15/19

As many of you know, I don't read a lot of MF books anymore, since I am very picky about them. I will always read a book written by Suzanne Wright though because she has always been one of my favorite MF authors. I have read almost all her books and I will continue to do so in the future. What can I say...I am a huge fan !!!

superhero-movie-gifs-incredibles-animated-disney-gifs.gif (500×208)

I have known Tao, since he was introduced in book 1 of the Phoenix series. I have always wanted to know more about the Head Enforcer of the Phoenix pack.

FOTO BEWERKEN - makkelijk online je foto's bewerken of aanpassen:  latest (500×564)

Riley, a raven shifter, has only recently (previous book) moved to the Phoenix pack. She was taken in by the pack because she came with two young shifter children, who were given sanctuary by the pack.

blue-hair.jpg (450×450):  tumblr_nt6tiwiCjG1qbp4fzo1_500.gif (500×281)

These didn't start off on the right foot. Tao strongly distrusts strangers, especially lone shifters and he didn't want Riley anywhere near his pack. That doesn't mean he didn't think she was hot though.

After Riley has spent some time with the pack, Tao slowly starts to trust her and even like her....he was already very attracted to her, so now...he just needs to make a move...which is exactly what he does.

ba631a34db3caac6f26a23acb57f0a43 (480×232)

Riley loves nothing more than antagonizing Tao. It brings her and her raven much pleasure. She can't deny being very attracted to the man though...So once the ice is broken and Tao suggests they take things a bit further, Riley figures...why the hell not. It's not like it's anything serious.......

I really liked Riley. It is always very hard for me to like a heroine, which is why I am such a big fan of this series and the other ones written by this author. She writes about very strong females, who don't take shit from anyone. Riley was funny and kickass.

"You better hope you are never on fire, Tao, because I'm more likely to relax and pull out some marshmallows than to help you."

Everyone who has read Suzanne Wright's books, knows that they are extremely HOT. This one was no exception. I was, as usual, blushing my way through this one.

"I'll fuck you in every way I can have you. And then I'll do it again and again."

giphy.gif (500×281)

There is a whole background story going on, about Riley's former flock but I don't want to spoiler the whole book. It's best to read it for yourself. These books can be read as stand alone's, though you wouldn't know all the sidecharacters (and there are plenty), so I would advice reading the the whole series. You won't be sorry ;)

I myself hope there will be plenty more books in this series and all the others. No one does shifters, vampires and demons like Suzanne Wright does ;)

Four and a half
I've followed the Phoenix Pack stories since the very beginning and yes I read 'that ' book (Feral Sins)with its now apparently deleted scene . It's always been apparent how closely entwined this Pack is and I loved that they accepted new members who are not fellow Wolves which leads me nicely to Riley. Riley is a Raven shifter who we first met protecting orphaned shifter children in the shelter. When they needed somewhere to live the Phoenix Alphas didn't hesitate and now Riley along with Dexter and Savannah have somewhere to call home. Well it should be perfect except Enforcer Tao has been anything but welcoming ! So imagine my surprise when this book started with well what I'm tempted to describe as a 'bang'! Oh yes the author throws this couple straight into a sticky situation which just gets worse when Riley's past catches up to her!
I'm loving that this author is exploring the possibility of different species of Shifters. We've had Margays , vipers, cheetahs and now we are introduced to a flock of Ravens. What's even more amusing is the fact that just like the Phoenix Pack the Ravens too have a resident bitchy character but rest assured no one outdoes the vitriolic Greta! Although the Ravens to my mind just didn't feel quite as involved with each other as the protective Wolves do although as a non predatory species perhaps that's why.
This book is firmly about Tao and Riley opening up and accepting each other . I won't lie Tao admits freely that he's an asshole ( his words not mine ) and he is very dominant and tries so hard to get Riley to drop her defences and let him in. They are so different and seeing them come together felt right. Raven has immense sadness in her past and still struggles to cope with grief so definitely prefers to keep others at arms length. There are a couple of subplots going on throughout this story which brings danger to the Packs front door and keeps the reader guessing right up until the end. However for me it's the characters, their dynamics and of course the cute Cubs that kept me reading. So a hot and spicy romance with lots of snark plus cuteness overload as young predators show their fangs and claws and it leaves this reader very happy indeed. Proof indeed that opposites do attract!
This voluntary review is of an arc I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and opinion are I believe fair and honest.

3.5-4 Stars!

Another great addition to this series! Tao and Riley had great chemistry and both characters had great personalities and it was great seeing all the other pack members in another action packed story.

My only complaint and the reason I gave it 4 stars is because the series is starting to feel repetitive as each book gets released. The plot-line is usually a strong-headed h and H meet and have a beneficial relationship that eventually leads to becoming mates, but they never believed they would be true mates in the end. And one character, usually the h fights the relationship because of the fear that they won't be true mates...

Despite the similarities to the previous books I really loved the steam factor in this story. Tao had a dirty mouth and was deliciously possessive!

"Mine. Isn't that right? I'm the only one who can f*ck this pussy. Only me."

The disappointment ran high on this one; partly because I usually enjoy this author quite a bit, and partly because the story really started well. I liked Tao and Riley, although I felt their relationship was very much based on sex; and found the Raven flock interesting. The mystery was intriguing.

Then things started bothering (and boring) me. The angst and drama level was a little too much for my tastes. The storyline went over-the-top several times, and felt a tad rehashed. Greta is getting tiresome. The biggest offenders were the various plotline threads that started and petered off to be forgotten about for chapters at a time. After rambling on and changing plotline directions numerous times, the story rushed to tie up and end.

I like the series, and the story had some good points; but overall left me somewhat underwhelmed. It was like a bunch of good plotline ideas were thrown together in a blender and the resulting story wasn’t as good as the ingredients promised.

Man, I love me some shifter smut! 4.5 stars!

I love Suzanne Wright, and the Phoenix Pack books are among my favourites of hers. This is book #6 in the series, and if you’ve read any of the others then you will know what to expect – a strong female character, an even stronger alpha male, wisecracks, banter, epic insults and put-downs, strong paranormal themes, a bit of intrigue and excitement, lots of laughs and of course a wickedly sexy romance that is hot, lots of fun and gorgeously romantic. Yes, it’s formulaic, but it’s fun and it works, and I loved this one!

This book is about the Phoenix Pack head enforcer, Tao. In previous books Tao has been the quiet, stoic man in the background. He is strong, serious and completely dedicated to his job protecting his packmates. And that’s why, when the pack took in raven shifter, Riley, he was instantly cagey about the new, unknown, secretive and highly defensive presence in his life. But there’s also an attraction that he cannot deny, and this book begins with a bang – or post bang as it were – with Tao and Riley waking up after a drunken night together. And we’re right into the action as Tao decides that one night isn’t going to be enough.

“If you expect me to walk away and forget what it’s like to be in you, tasting you, exploding deep in you, you’re out of your mind.”

And though she puts up a fight, Riley is more than happy to go along with that… in her own unique way…

“It does help your case that you’ve got as much dick in your jeans as you have in your personality.”

Neither of them are interested in anything permanent, but their connection is undeniable and they’re happy to enjoy each other – and OMG, do they enjoy each other! Like the other couples in the series, there’s a strong sense of antagonism to their romance (it’s the shifter way), and that translates into steamy hot, almost combative sexy time that is passionate, intense, and so, so hot! But along with all of that intensity, comes a sensational sense of fun, and I just loved the dynamic between them. The girls in this series are smart, sassy, and not afraid to give just as much as they get, and I loved the playful, smutty banter that is a huge part of Tao and Riley’s relationship.

“I'm thinking about fucking your mouth, to be exact.”
“Of course you are,” she said drily. “You're a boy. Boys are delusional.”
He smiled. “You're not going to let me feel what it's like to slide my cock in your mouth? That doesn't seem fair. I go down on you all the time.”
“Oh, I won't deny you eat pussy like a champ.”
He laughed. “Like a champ?”
“Totally. But you know, over seventy percent of erectile dysfunction cases are caused by having too many blow jobs.”
“They are not.”
“They could be.”

Riley is a lone shifter who left her flock four years ago, but she receives a call inviting her back for a special occasion and it’s one that she can’t refuse. Being the protective alpha male that he is, Tao goes along for the trip. But returning to her home uncovers tragic secrets from the past, and a new danger emerges, threatening Riley and her family, and brining the Phoenix Pack to her defence as they fight to protect their own and uncover the threat.

It’s exciting and intriguing, and I was fully invested in the mystery/suspense part of the storyline, which is blended wonderfully in with Tao and Riley’s story – because let’s face it, it’s all about the romance, and I thought the development of the love story between Tao and Riley was really nicely done. Every single moment is dripping with chemistry, but the growing emotion is a gradual, natural thing, and I could feel the shift between them as their feelings for each other grew deeper. It’s beautifully explored, and there are some gorgeously swoony moments as they fall for each other easily and without angst and drama, and I loved the way their story played out.

“It doesn't matter to me if you're the other half of my soul or not. You're in my soul. I don't know how you got there, I really don't but you are.”

The rest of the Phoenix Pack are a big part of the story, and I loved seeing all of the other couples. And I enjoyed the introduction of new characters – both the beloved and the evil – in fact, probably more of the evil, because the smart-mouthing is hilarious and had me laughing out loud as always.

“You know, Cynthia, there are no guys standing around with their pants down, so I can’t help but ask myself why the fuck you keep opening your mouth.”

As always, I loved the paranormal parts of the story. The shifter dynamics and politics keep the story engaging, and really drag you into another world. And for the first time, I loved exploring the avian world with Riley as a raven shifter. And I thought the combination of the wolf and the raven together was beautifully done.

I really enjoyed this read. It was everything I was hoping for, and I’m looking forward to more from this fun, sexy and exciting series.

4.5 stars.
