Rich Rider makes his roaring return to the Marvel Universe! How will Sam Alexander cope with this unfathomable homecoming? It's the return you've all been waiting for. Or is something...else? Strap in True Believer, you've never seen a NOVA book like this before!
After the events with the Cancerverse (The Thanos Imperative), Richard Rider and Star-Lord were both presumed dead. They went out saving the universe, people!
But what do you mean, Anne? Pete's not dead! He got into a dance off with that blue villain, remember?
Exactly! And for quite a while, the 3 of us who had read GotG stuff before the movie made them famous were kinda confused about why he was trotting around the galaxy all alive and well. At least we were until it was finally addressed in Original Sin. So, you had to figure that since Star-Lord made it out, it was only a matter of time until the original Nova popped back up, as well. Welp, he's back!
But for those of you who are fans of Sam Alexander, I wouldn't worry. The Nova Corps is a group...or they were until they were all killed off...so I think it's an extremely reasonable assumption to make that both Sam and Richard will both continue to carry the Nova mantle.
This is just issue one, so there's not a whole lot of explanation as to what's going on, but I really like Rider and just couldn't wait for the first volume to come out. To me, this was a good start with a decent set-up going on for the two Novas to meet.
This is probably going to be one of those niche titles that not everyone is going to give a shit about, but for those of us who remember Richard, it's a dream come true! I should mention that I also like Sam, so I have no desire to see him go anywhere, either. And who knows? Since the GotG did well in theaters, maybe Marvel will decide to throw a Nova movie at us somewhere down the road!
