Charity Hill burns with desire… for discipline and for justice!
Fierce, loyal, and loving, the freckle-faced American redhead has weathered every storm and sore bottom as the lover, plaything, and cherished possession of English billionaire Harry Edgewell. His discipline has molded her from innocent submissive to triumphant avenger!
Along the path of submission, cheerful, fun-loving Charity has made many friends, and a few enemies, too. Now, a beloved mentor is dead under mysterious circumstances and Charity wants justice.
Harry sends his beloved submissive undercover one last time, to seduce friend and foe alike, and to fight her way through days of intrigue and nights of decadent pleasure. Her mission is to discover the final truth… no matter what the cost in passion and heartbreak.
CAROL STORM is a Blushing Books author who specializes in erotic romance, Carol Storm's latest release, ISLAND CAPTIVE COLLECTION, premiered on June 12, 2020 and is on sale now at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Blushing Books!
In her latest book, Carol Storm follows the continuing adventures of the mischievous Charity Hill. This time, after the death of a close friend, Charity, Lady Beddington and Harry Edgewell battle to bring down the corrupt Lady Margaret once and for all.
Like the other instalments in this series, Burning Triumph was fun and energetic. On the whole, it gripped me - I'm not really a romance reader and I find it difficult to be grabbed by 'love' plots so my favourite part of this novella was seeing Charity develop and get involved in exciting schemes! We've already seen how her experiences turn her into a more mature woman in the previous books, Burning Innocence and Burning Captivity, but in this one, Carol Storm really showed us how much she's grown and become more independent. For a lot of the book, she has to negotiate her own way around dangerous and intense situations, all to protect her benefactor and her late friend's memory.
Although they were not together for much of the novella, Charity and Harry made a nice couple and Carol drew off their relationship from the previous instalments. In this one, the focus is more on Charity's interactions with Lady Margaret and her loyal housekeeper, Inga. True to Blushing Books (the publisher)'s credo, Charity is frequently disciplined by these two women, an experience which allows her to explore herself and her own feelings. I felt Carol dealt with this as nicely as she could, without it being too lewd or discomforting (as a casual reader, it isn't something I outwardly seek in books but I realise her dedicated Blushing Books readers will expect it!).
As well as the energetic, cute Charity Hill, the supporting characters were also interesting, and I especially enjoyed the kind and caring Reverend Meeps, as well as Annabelle, who I would have liked to have known more about! There is a lot of dialogue but most of the time, Carol makes it snappy and bubbly - the only part I didn't find as engaging was the long conversation between Charity and Margaret's guests from The Guardian and the New York Times at one of her fancy parties, where I felt the speech seemed a bit more unnatural. Apart from this though, Carol portrays her characters with care and the reader feels very involved with them and their adventures. Without spoiling too much, it is clear that this is the end of Charity's story, and Carol closes it in a charming and spirited way, just like the protagonist herself!
Overall, this novella is another exciting and sweet glimpse into Charity Hill's manic life! I would recommend it to anyone who has previously enjoyed her journeys, or those who want a sexy, fast-paced story with a hint of mystery and sly schemes!
I've read all three of the books in the series, and I am so glad Charity and Harry finally find their happy ending in this amazing final chapter. Charity is the same as ever -- sweet, playful, impulsive, and caring. Harry is more brooding and mysterious than ever, sending her under cover and then coming to the rescue just in time. Finally Lady Margaret gets what she deserves! The ending is so sweet and funny, it really ties up all the loose ends and makes you realize that all the people you loved in this series are going to live happily ever after.
This book was an enjoyable conclusion to a great series; I'm sorry to see it end. The main characters were already well developed in the previous books but this story shows growth in both Charity and Harry as well as another side of Edith. The plot was awesome; completely unpredictable with an ever present sense of suspense and adventure. The erotic and discipline scenes were varied and well written. Like the rest of this series, this book is unique and creative making it a joy to read. Although this book can be read as stand alone, I highly recommend reading the whole series in order.
