Book Title: Wild Card
Author: Asfiya Rahman
Narrator: Chetan Soni
Format: Paper Back

Book Title:
The title of the book is ‘Wild Card’  is different and interesting.

Book Cover:
The cover of the book is a digital image of the badminton racket with balls on the turf of the badminton court. The image and the title suggest the story might belong to a sports person.

Plot:
We may have plans for ourselves, but life has its own plan. Not all the situations are in our hands. Sometimes our fate plays a cruel role in our life which turns our world upside-down. The blurred future stands stagnant in front of us. No hope to move forward or no strength to dwell the past. The only light which we have is the ‘present’. If we feel that the present is true and rest all is nothing then that feeling will keep us moving with a hope for tomorrow. The dark clouds of sad moments slowly move away and the bright rays of the future and dreams slowly arise. Such shades of life are beautifully expressed in this story ‘Wild Card’.

Coming to the plot, a reputed badminton player marries the love of his life. He sets his journey to play the tournament and he drops the plan of his play due to some terrible situations he faces. His life suddenly gets dark and he has nowhere else to go or think about his future. Years pass and slowly the shadowy memories fade away. His only hope is his daughter Roshni, who is challenged physically but a gleam of his life. Again the flares of his dreams ignite and he sets his journey to play the tournament.

What made the protagonist to quit his dream and again take up the same? Who inspired him and boosted up the confidence in him again? Will he be able to play the tournament and achieve his dream?

Well, read this heart touching story ‘Wild Card’ by Asfiya Rahman.

What I like:
1. The protagonist’s passion for his dream will remind of our forgotten dreams and goals. He is very passionate about his badminton play.
2. The relationships between the characters are very well done by the author.

What I didn’t like: The narration could be more intriguing so that it can absorb many readers and leave them awestruck. Overall, I found this book interesting with good points.

Narration:
The narration could is though engaging and realistic, at some places it felt dragging.

Language & Grammar:
A clear language with neat and uncomplicated grammar is used in the book

My Final Verdict:
A heart-touching story which is apt for all ages and leaves the readers with a great feeling. The good read which will ignite the sleeping passions in your life.

Wild Card is a story of love and ambition, of dreams and perseverance, of fighting and endurance, of success and passion.

Karan, a shining tennis star, has crawled back to his shell after his wife Riya dies immediately after giving birth to their daughter Roshni. Karan takes the charge of upbringing his daughter and leaves behind his dream of becoming a Wimbledon Champion. After 8 long years, Roshni stumbles upon his laurels and accolades and coaxes him to return to his world of Tennis. After pretty much of showing reluctance, he agrees to do it only for Roshni. In the process, he realizes the frustration brimming inside of him due to leaving his dream in the lurch all those years ago. He realizes that if one is equipped with the right toolset containing grit, determination, zeal, and confidence, nothing can stop you from winning.

On the first look, one might be of an opinion that Wild Card is exclusively a sports book. Also, one may be puzzled to relate the title of the book to the anticipated storyline. To clear the air, read the book! The book has a lucid writing style and a heartwarming plotline at its core. With a smooth flow of the story, one would easily finish reading it soon. The language and expressions are nice. Moreover, the interspersing of sports with life and relationships made it all the more interesting. Karan’s journey from a fallen and forgotten tennis star to a winner is heavily inspiring. One would be impacted after reading his story. Not to forget, the book underlines the value of friendship in the form of Vikram who stands beside Karan through all his ordeals.

With a crisp narrative and no beating around the bush, the book does have the potential to engage its readers. Do check this out if you are into sports and even if you are not, go for it for some light motivational read!

DNFed it after the second chapter. I wonder how I reached the second chapter when the first 4 pages got me really annoyed.
Too giggly and over the rainbow, unicorn kinda superficial dialogues and sugar-coated lines killed the vibes and hope to continue reading this one.
The change of events in the next chapter didn't do anything.
The characters are really fictional-fake to the point of no return.
The cover and the title are misleading. That's what got me bored about this book.
The tennis part won't come up even in the third chapter. It's all about sprinkling the lines with sugar syrup....
Please don't bother.

Wild Card is a simple story beautifully told. The struggles of the protagonist, his passion for tennis are dealt with perfectly. The minute details of tennis in this book speaks about the author's knowledge/research of the same. The story flow is good but it kind of slows down a bit at one point and picks up pace again.
When the theme of the book is gripping, the characterisation perfect, you can choose to overlook the typos/spelling mistakes.

Review of wildcard by Asfiya Rahman

Some books are written for a bestseller purpose and some to establish the emotions ,but only a few comes up to change the paths of people .In the era of romantic novels a piece of inspiration is highly applaudable .The vast Knowledge about tennis can be seen in each and every words used by the writer .The minute details are so strong and insightful .The character of Karan is projected on the struggles faced by every one of us in our daily routine .He is a hard worker and a passionate person who gives his hundred person to his loved ones and has an open minded view which leads him to a beautiful relationship with riya ,their first meet is so candid and real .The passion he had for riya is a matter of goosebumps. She may have only travelled a few scenes but she occupied a huge part in this story .Every man deserves a girl like Riya .When riya departs the story takes a deep slow pace and I lost the total interest in the read but soon after the cute antics of his doll Roshini and Vikram brought back the flavour which was missing in few pages .They were stubborn ,sacrificial and was coated with full of love .And my favourite character was Vikram I felt I got so attached to the character as I got attached to the friend of Rahul in Aashiqui 2 .He holded himself so well when dealing with the conversations with Karan it was witty and empathetic .The cover was so green and colourful and it clearly gave the face of the story ,the obsessive desire of tennis which was hidden down the cells of Karan for few years made the process of reawakening by his own cell Roshini ,she was an angel and her determination which she showed up for her age was astounding .I won't be suprised if there will be a part two story on Roshini by Asfiya mam .Best wishes mam for more works of credits and glory .You have taken a huge step by writing out of the box genre and I take a bow for that .

My Take :

I just took pause from current read and tried on this book . Finally my time and guess for the book didn't let me down.

Karan Mehrotra and Riya were living fuller life but yet bitter things unfold in amidst. Who are we could possibly predict the natural cause. Karan was so well determined player of Tennis Sport where as Riya her love life, partner of submission throughout the journey, Good luck Mascot were no longer headed. Unfortunate accident of Riya turned him solitude, working as a typical life like ordinary untill Roshni {Sunshine} took chance in Karen's life. Roshni who is half paralysed since birth made Karan to take her first priority.

Despite being wheelchair, Handicapped caption showed the feelings from people she never ever took this thing serious nor she cried for being mentioned from people. That's the beauty carried till the end of the story portrayed by author. For Roshni her father was whole world to her.
.
.
.
As Karan shut his sports life blaming everything on him for unfortunate happening their stood Vikram his best friend for all bad and good. Roshni who always cheered up and make him to push to win his dream job {Wimbledon Championship}and Nonetheless Tahira who also a sports athlete got to meet his Idol and.supporter of his Winning Wimbledon Championship.{Dream}
.
.

Final Conclusion:
This story is the bundle of joy, all of sudden twist and turn , friendship bond, athlete spirit, tragic incidents, creating the lost identity, family vibes, loss, pain and gain.

I also want to mention the elation holding Roshni in his arms were the heart wrenching part for me.😭😭 While From Riya till the Roshni part carried me crying.

It is an inspiring story of a tennis legend who has won almost every cup except Wimbledon, which has been his childhood dream. A car accident kills his wife and turns him into a single parent of a girl with special needs. His daughter becomes his world and he shuts all the doors to tennis till she turns eight and discovers the truth of her father’s life.
The book is not for tennis players or sports persons only but for everyone who wants to read a good book and get motivated. The power of thoughts and visualization has been rightly depicted by the author, which is used by sports persons even in Olympics. Tennis terms have been well explained in between.
Truly a caterpillar to butterfly story, the way Karan Mehrotra, the Tennis legend tries to make a comeback and how he wins through a wild card entry. There are three interesting aspects of the story: One, how he brings up his disabled daughter. She is so efficient and swift in her movements on wheelchair that she doesn’t consider herself a handicap and in fact inspires her father to make a comeback. Two- I loved the way, the protagonist retrains his brain to win every single match of Wimbledon, after his entry through Wild Card. Three – it is indeed interesting to read how his team is build and how they help him in achieving his dream.
Asfiya has given a vivid and interesting description of every match and I especially enjoyed reading the racing brain of the protagonist during the match.
A must read for all those who have dreams, doubt themselves and want to make a comeback in whatsoever field they want to.

This, my friends is no mere attempt at writing but a brilliant work of art! The story revolves around two protagonists, Karan and his daughter Roshini. Karan is an internationally recognised tennis star but has to forgo the chance of becoming the best to take care of his disabled daughter. When his daughter encourages him to pick up tennis, he fights to overcome numdrous hurdles to become the best! The amount of research taken to get the facts right in this book is astounding! I lived the various "touch" points the book has to offer! It's a really good attempt! I definitely recommend it!

Wild Card is a story of an upcoming tennis star, Karan Mehrotra, who is at the peak of his career when he is forced to leave. However, life throws him another chance to fulfil his dream after eight years, and thus unfolds a story of perseverance, determination and hard work, as the once well-known champion rebuilds his career from scrap.
This is a story of equal shades of love and grief, grief makes Karan give up tennis, and love makes him take it up again. It’s an inspiring story of strength – strength in an eight year old girl in a wheelchair, who never once considers herself handicapped; strength in a sportsman to work hard against all odds, and strength of the mind, pre-requisite in any sport.
It’s a story that beautifully portrays the world of sport, how sport is not just hard work and determination, but also patience, and being in the right state of mind. Certain elements at the background of Karan’s journey include the strength and inspiration the main characters derive from each other – the little girl who looks up to her father, and at the same time is his rock. Tahira, a young tennis aspirant who is inspired by Karan and also encourages him to play his best game, or Riya, serving as a motivation for Karan even after her death. Very subtly, the story narrates all the struggles of a sportsman, be it the competition with others, or the competition within oneself. Even someone not enthusiastic about sports would be gripped by this tale, as the tiniest nuances of tennis are explained in the easiest of manners so the reader knows how significant each match is, for the character and for the story.
The narrative shifts from character to character, hence bringing out the backgrounds and backstories of all those who help Karan in his journey. The behavior of these characters are very relatable, whether it is of Karan’s friend struggling to take interest in tennis for his sake, or of his daughter, who wants Karan to win just so that she could brag to her friends. It brings out a humanness to the story, which wraps up beautifully after an intense match, described so wonderfully that one feels one is actually watching the tennis being played.
It’s a gripping story that will have you hooked, and will teach you a little about loss and success, love and grief, a feel-good story that will make you think that all dreams can be fulfilled, if you’re willing to give it your everything.

Karan the star tennis player from India, is aiming for the next Wimbledon match, the only grand slam he did not win so far. Life turns as unpredictable as it can, when he loses his pregnant wife Riya in a tragic accident few days before the match, and his baby Roshini is born a paraplegic. The twin tragedies leave Karan shocked as well as blaming himself for this sudden loss, and distances himself from tennis, making Roshini his whole world and caring for her his only purpose in life. But is this the end of career of Karan as a tennis star? Does destiny has other plans for him forms the rest of the story.

The first few pages of the book give a quick glimpse into the past life of Karan and his unfortunate exit from tennis when at the peak of fame and success. The author thus has a challenging task at hand to engage the reader in the remaining book when the initial pages give away the plot. The story however succeeds in weaving a beautiful plot around tennis, friendship, and majorly father and daughter relationship between Karan and Roshini. As in most sports based stories, the story does get predictable at times but the writer keeps the reader hooked till the end with a strong narration and even more stronger characters. Keeping the number of characters to minimum with only those required for the story also keeps the story clean and interesting.

A lot of sequences involving the sport towards the climax give the reader a feel of watching it live. The book is especially unputdownable in the second half, with almost nail biting sequences. Since there is a sequel on cards, the ending is kind of left open to be explored more in the next part. This one is a must read for all sport enthusiasts, especially for tennis lovers for the sheer love of the sport and for the beautiful portrayal of human spirit and emotions.

My Take:

Set against the backdrop of tennis, this one is a gem. I loved the way this story moves. A clash of past and present. Fighting your own demons and coming out victorious. The determination, and the attitude with which Karan comes back just proves the saying " It's never too late" saying true.

Karan Mehrotra retreats into his shell after the death of his wife Riya. A tennis player who has almost played all the tournaments and won accolades leaves everything and focuses on his only daughter Roshni who is wheel chair bound. Only his and Riya's dream of winning the Wimbledon is left.

Roshni  chances upon his trophies and coaxes him to play and win the famous Wimbledon for her and pushes him towards the game once again. The very game that was his life. The one which has taken his precious Riya away from him.(He holds himself for not being able to reach her as he was playing). Rusted and not so sure, he slowly rebuilds himself. Does he win the Wimbledon and fulfill his and Riya's unfulfilled dream? Read the story to find out.

Tahira, a young girl who idolizes Karan, supports him and practices with him and gives him the much needed boost. A tennis player herself, she is happy to learn and play alongside and dreams of becoming a famous tennis player someday. Supported by her family, she also works hard to make her dream come true.

Vikram, Karan's best friend who stand by him thick and thin motivates and encourages him to play and win. We all love and wish to have such unconditional friends who just support and trust us.

Loved the way all the characters hold themselves. The research on tennis is evident with the detailed narration of the sport and the description of the scenes where matches are played.

I would rate this 4.5/5. Well played author. Waiting for the sequel.

About the story:
Karan Mehrotra and his passion for tennis is the center of attraction in this plot. Karan is at the zenith of success when destiny changes the game for him altogether. Because of his responsibility towards his little girl, he says bye to his dreams forever. And then, that little girl pushes him to pursue his goals. To sum it up, the story is about passion, determination, responsibility, failures, and success.
Writing & Narration:
The way writer has presented every single emotion, is appreciable. The story is competence enough to form a connection with readers. The narration part is equally well, too. However, there are few spelling and printing mistakes.
Title & Cover:
The title is entirely appropriate and matches with the content of the book. However, the cover is not much pleasing.
Pros:
• Inspiring
• Connects well
• Perfect characterization
Cons:
• Spelling and printing mistakes
My verdict:
All of us encounter such problems in our lives which compel us to give up. Our responsibilities overshadow our dreams. However, the only thing that counts is the way you tackle with difficult circumstances and your will to never give up. So, this book is all about determination and passion. It teaches you never to give up. For me, this book was inspiring. Give it a read, and you will find it same, too.

Wild Card is a perfect drama that brings out the emotions of a single father as to how he struggles to achieve his dreams which he has put aside, when it becomes the dream of his kid.

Karan Mehrotra was a famed Indian Tennis Player who goes on to win all the championships except Wimbledon. When he was on his pinnacle, he loses his wife Riya. That hits him real hard and he retires from the professional tennis circuit to take care of his kid.

He however had a good friend Vikram who stayed in touch with him even after his retirement and when Roshni, daughter of Karan stumbles upon the trophies on his locked-up cupboard, she gets to know about who her father was through Vikram and they both persuade him to take up his dream of becoming a Wimbledon Champion.

As he has retired long back from professional tennis, he was reluctant but takes it up as a challenge and Tahira, a young girl who idolised Karan when she was a little girl becomes his hitting partner.

What happens in the end has been beautifully portrayed by the author and if you ever had goosebumps in any part of the story or the slight tears in your eyes, that indicates the success of this story because I had experienced both of them when I read it.....

The plot is pretty beautiful and well developed. The book is a short and crisp story and can be completed in one go. I completed the story in one single night. The characterization is brilliant, characters are well built and are multidimensional. They change and grow at a good pace. The author has chosen a terse writing style that helps in making the book more engrossing. No loopholes have been left by the author at any place. The story moves at a good pace. The character of Vikram took my heart away. The way he supported Karan throughout his journey after his life was upside down was amazing. Also, he had a good amount of humor that made him the star. Also, the way a daughter controls his father was amazing. Only a daughter holds the power to control his father and fathers without speaking a word they just go as the daughters say. Brilliant. Kudos to Chetan Soni sir for such a beautiful concept and thanks to Asfiya Rahman for weaving a beautful story out of it. Perfect it is.

Negatives– In the end after Karan won the Wimbledon, both VikrKarand Karan had feelings for Tahira. However, I was eager to read whaom did Tahira chose. Karan or vikram? How did the romance followed between them?

Karan Mehrotra loses everything in a cruel twist of fate. The erstwhile tennis player felt responsible for his wife's unfortunate death. He had to take care of his disabled daughter, Roshni singlehandedly. She is the only glimmer of hope in his life. His daughter repeatedly prods him to make a comeback in Tennis. For a person who has stopped playing the sport for eight years, it doesn't seem easy. Karan feels as if things are slipping from his hands when he continuously loses matches against the amateur players in the tennis club. Will he be able to resurrect his former life and sail towards glory? How will he manage to strike a balance between two things that matter him the most in his life? Read the book to find out.

'Wild Card' is a saga of grit and determination of a fallen player, a story of friendship that stood the test of time and of a true fan who stood behind her idol no matter what.

This was not a typical sports drama where facts and figures will make you dizzy. There are a lot of relationship dynamics explored in the book. In addition to the main protagonist, the supporting characters are worthy of a mention. The author makes a valid point that a sport is not only a test of physical strength but also of one's emotional quotient.

Wild Card is a heartwarming story of a dejected father, Karan Mehrotra, once a rising tennis star and his Light-At-The-End-Of-The-Tunnel daughter, Roshni. After losing his wife, Riya in an accident, Karan walks away from the fame and glamour to care for the only thing Riya left behind: Their daughter. When after years of probing, Karan finally tells Roshni about his glamourous past, she ignites a fire in him to restart his life again and achieve his dreams, just like Riya did. From hereon begins a lovable story of relationships, friendship, trust and determination and weaves a beautiful net of emotions as you progress.
Since this is Asfiya Rehman's debut novel, there are a few grammatical glitches here and there but the story more than makes up for it. The restraint in her writing shows great caliber and I'm excited to see more of her writing in the future.
Overall, a warm and fuzzy story apt for a winter read. I was torn between 4 and 4.5 stars but I finally settled for 4 because I'm a grammar nazi..

Karan Mehrotra is a famous tennis player who is madly in love with his wife Riya and Tennis. Life takes a different turn when Riya dies leaving their newly born baby, Roshni who can’t walk on her own. He is a caring father as well as a husband but this tragedy of his life changes him forever.

Roshni is the sweetest daughter one can ever ask for. The way the author has delineated her character is mind blowing. It is really difficult to comprehend the psychology of a child. SHe loves her father and with the zeal she wants to know more about her dad is impeccable. SHe becomes the pillar of her father’s life.

The style of writing is poignant and lucid. The use of flashbacks and the present makes it amazing. The use of stream of consciousness sometimes leave the reader awestruck. This book is about a beautiful relationship between a father and a daughter. The tennis part is inspirational and this book deserves tobe converted into a movie.

The terms of success and failure purely lie in the hands of self-determination. This story starts with a happy note and how the journey of a star player Karan lives gets crushed when he lost Riya, love of his life. This book had me interested in its total journey and the development of course of its events which are totally genuine. The plot is very unique. The authors narrative and writing style are simple and sophisticated as it conveyed the moral of this story in a high tone.

This whole story knits the tale of a forgotten player – goes like how the lives of two destinies changed in the nick of the moment and how it brings down the people who top in positions. The characterization of this story has done its justice well that triggers us the qualities which were overlooked by many of us. The cover is very intriguing that allures us to know its game.

I received this book as a gift. And by the end of chapter 2, I was all engrossed to read till the end in one go. There can be a bit misconception to the readers by the looks of the cover and by being a bit judgemental that this book is exclusively on sports. It's much more than that. I liked how things are portrayed in simple yet engaging manner. I even liked some of the words used which were quirky and new to me. There's not a single dull moment rather the conversation parts are interesting and shows the writers wit and sense of humor. Overall it's a 150 page nice, fetching and entertaining book. Kudos to the writer!

Wild Card is the first fictional book in the Wild Card Trilogy written by Asfiya Rahman. It's a story of a former tennis star, Karan Mehrotra who is forced by circumstances to give up his career in tennis and also his dreams to win the Wimbledon Championship in order to take care of his paraplegic daughter, Roshni. However, things take a U-turn when Roshni urges him to go back to playing tennis and win the Wimbledon Cup for her after a gap of eight years.

The book is a short light-hearted read of 170 pages. The writing is crisp as the author doesn't beat round the bush. It's a story to inspire and motivate one to take charge of one's life. There are many positive messages which the author conveys successfully. In life sometimes we win and there are times when we lose but it's upon us whether to accept defeat or treat every failure as a stepping stone to success.

The other characters in this book are Karan's daughter, Roshni, his friend, Vikram and Tahira, a tennis player who plays a crucial role in the book. The father and daughter relationship is beautiful. A single dad, we see Karan Mehrotra devoted to his daughter and making sure she never feels inferior on account of her disability.

The story's focus is more on the technicalities of Karan Mehrotra's comeback and therefore, in my opinion we rarely see beyond a superficial layer of the emotions all the characters are going through.

I did have a few reservations regarding some aspects. To list a few, being younger Roshni is advised not to call Tahira by her name. This is indeed a lesson in good manners. However, when it is suggested that she call Tahira 'didi' she dismisses the suggestion saying, "Eew, she is not in charge of the toilets at school." Roshni is an eight year old and giving her the benefit of doubt I can imagine that she spoke what came to her mind. She probably didn't want to equate Tahira with her school's housekeeping staff. On the other hand, Karan Mehrotra definitely knows better. I feel he missed an opportunity to teach his daughter a lesson in respecting hardworking people and their jobs. He should have told his daughter that no job is big or small, and that she should not look look down upon her 'didi'.

There were other facts which I found very hard to digest. When Karan Mehrotra is told by the doctor that his daughter is born paraplegic his response is 'Para, what?'. The doctor then goes on to explain what paraplegic means. I find it difficult to believe that a person of his stature who has won grand slams and reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon Championship doesn't know the meaning of the word. Most definitely he would have at least heard of Para-olympics. In all likelihood, the author probably wanted to convey the meaning to her readers, but I feel she should have chosen a different way for doing the same.

This book was the first fiction book based on the game of tennis that I was reading. It was not very technical and whenever the author used words or terms specific to the game she did explain it in detail so that the reader is not lost. The language was simple and can be read by anyone in a single sitting.

A story of grit and determination weaved in a fabric that seems fragile ‘Wild Card 3’ sees family relationships subjected to the test of time, doubt cloud faith, and the rebellious nature generally associated with adolescence find a voice. Protected since birth, Roshni Mehrotra, daughter of tennis champion Karan Mehrotra enters the portals of higher education believing that life there too would be a roller coaster ride like at school only to be disillusioned before long. However, the gritty one that she is, she is far from calling it quits. Instead, once the initial phase of exasperation wears off Roshni takes hold of herself, her emotions, and her life. There are only two things that stand between Roshni and her dreams – her wheelchair and an over-protective guardian, her dad Karan Mehrotra. Will Roshni be able to live her dreams, or will she wilt under the pressure of her disability?...Wild Card 3 is a battle between emotions and aspirations. Ultimately who wins is the big question.

Narrated in fluid language, Wild Card 3 is a short and sweet read. It is a fine sketch of a bundle of conflicting emotions that every teenager experiences at some point or the other in those years when both their physical and mental state undergo a sea change, a change which for many is akin to a challenge. The author must be complimented for her wonderful portrayal of the protagonist Roshni and her mental state.

VERDICT
A read that is bound to take one down memory lane and re-live the adolescent period, Wild Card 3 is a book for both the young and old alike. Not a drop of tear is shed nor a smile masked right from the beginning till the end.

A story of sports which teaches us about things that go beyond the court.

Ratings 4/5
If you're a sports lover, here's a story you'll love and appreciate. Read this one to understand Tennis and what goes into the making of a good sportsperson.

What I liked about the book:
-->The relationship dynamic between the lead father-daughter duo aka Karan and Roshni
--> The multiple POVs which add intrigue to the overall plot and story.
--> The easy camaraderie and fun banter encounters between Karan and Vikram.
--> I'm not much of a Tennis buff so this was somewhat of a GK read too!
--> Effectively drives home the point that sports isn't just about physical strength but also needs strong emotional grit.

What I did not like about the book:
--> The story talks about Roshni, one of the two lead characters of this story, after almost halfway through the book.

Quotable quotes:
--> He needed to play his strengths, but more importantly, he needed to pick on his opponent's weaknesses.
--> The morning was dull and gloomy. The sky was overcast but there was no sign of rain. Roshni hated such weather. "Either it should rain or the clouds should go away. This kind of weather makes me feel sad."
--> I have to stop thinking about what's best for me and start thinking about what's best for all of us.
--> You had a dream, you worked hard towards it. But if you had to walk away from it, it's not your fault.
-->Blood, sweat and tears that went into being here.
-->So close and yet so far.

Wild Card 3 is the third book in Wild Card series by Asfiya Rahman .The language is simple and lucid. I had not read the first two parts but still could relate and understand as the author has given a summary of the same at the start. The book talks about the father daughter relation as they grow together and how life changes. Roshni is a paraplegic and has been on a wheelchair since the day she was born. The teenager in her now wishes for more freedom and independence.
As Roshni starts her new college, so does her struggles to fit in a new environment with her wheelchair, followed by the teenage troubles. The story conveys the determination Roshni carries and her journey towards fulfilling her dream. All the characters surrounding Roshni are tennis players. I liked the fact Roshni understands her dad’s unfulfilled dream and encourages him to achieve it. In the meanwhile Roshni too develops an interest towards the sport. It beautifully shows the importance of a family’s support that one needs.
Its an easy read written creatively.

I found the book to be quite inspirational and reflective of the fact that life is full of opportunities only if one chooses to recognize them. Its heartwarming plotline and lucid writing style combined with its simple language and expressions make for an interesting read. The integration of sports, life, and relationships further enhances the interest of the readers in the book.
