Hale Street #5

More Than Words: A Hale Street Novella

Rate this book
Roxanne Giardini’s greatest life achievement is writing a cat food jingle. She yearns to do more with her life, but it isn’t until she tours an old recording studio that she develops a plan for her future. The building is destined to become a pile of rubble and Roxie has only weeks to save it. Fine-tuning her strategy turns out to be easier than ignoring the man working against her - the tall, handsome financial planner who makes her want to write love songs rather than business proposals. Will Darden deals in facts and numbers. He’s used to being the voice of reason in Hale Street’s choir of dreamers, and the hard truth is the old recording studio has to go. His proposal is solid, every detail double-checked. Then a lyricist with a stubborn streak as wide as the blue strip in her hair makes it her mission to save the crumbling wreck and detonates his perfect plan. But her effect on him is what really shakes his foundation. When the dreamer and the realist fight for the future of the old recording studio, will they be able to come up with anything More Than Words?

This is Roxie and Will’s story. They originally met when Will was coming to raise her rent. She’d had a horrible day ending with getting fired. He’d also had a bad day and came across as a jerk. They meet up again by accident and find they were wrong about each other. They come from totally different backgrounds but find out they also have a lot in common. I loved the fact that although they were on opposite sides of an issue, they didn’t let it stop them from getting to know each other on a personal basis. I loved their interactions. When things went wrong, they didn’t spend months avoiding each other staying angry. They listened to their friends and actually decided to communicate and look for solutions to their problems. I think they’ll be good for each other. Will is the logical, pragmatic one who will help Roxie be practical and Roxie is the dreamer, who will bring fun to Will’s life and drag him away from his office. They balance each other. A lovely story and another great addition to the Hale Street series.
I received a free copy of the book and have voluntarily written an honest review.

Light amusing romance… I received a copy of the book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I enjoyed this light, amusing romance very much. Roxie is a dreamer and wants to rehabilitate the old recording studio. Roxie tried the corporate role at Trident Records, but it didn't give her the time to write her lyrics. Will is a financial planner, who feels monetary success, is the way to feel safe. Will wants to raze the old recording studio to provide parking for Hale Street. Even though Roxie and Will are on opposite sides, they are drawn together. This is a very good book and a good series. These books can be enjoyed even if they are read out of order. I recommend this book.

The Dreamer and The Realist - This was a delightful addition to the Hale Street saga. As someone who has written songs and lyrics (nothing to write home about), I identified with Roxie's creative struggles. Between her old job and Lurleen, I don't know how she accomplished anything. I was delighted when the two protagonists came up with a brilliant solution to their bone of contention. (Not Lurleen!) Read it to find out more.

I am very much enjoying these stories of couples from Hale Street, even though they are written by three different writers. Roxie is a woman with moxie. She has dreams and needs someone to believe in her. Will is a numbers guy and sees things in black and white. Can he get on board with a dreamer? We will see.

Hale street

This series continues to impress me. I find it especially interesting that there are three authors contributing different books in the same series but it still flows with all the characters! Great job!

Nice

What can I say. This book is good and predictable. Rosie is moving on from her job Will wants the space she does but for parking while she wants to keep it as is.
