Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan: The Aurorient Express is a comic series written by Mike Kennedy and drawn by Lucas Marangon, starring Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The series is composed of 2 issues released in February and June 2002.
The plot is about a luxury cloud cruiser which has slipped out of control and is going to crash over Yorn Skot. The two Jedi must board the runaway ship and regain control in just 84 minutes.
Always nice to see more of these two - they were a delight to watch even in the otherwise pretty poor Episode 1. Shame this story itself was not that interesting or well-written.
Very poorly written. Reads far too much like an episode of Scooby Doo. Far too many American phrases, notions, and verbiage to make this seem like it has in any place in its time and place.
These comics are just pure greatness. These feel very similar to The Clone War Animated TV show, where Anakin and Obi-Wan rampaged across the galaxy from conflict to conflict. Except here, it's Qui-Gon Jin and Obi-Wan.
QGJ has a great wisdom drop/theory crafting session about doing despicable things as necessary for the greater good outcome. This is so very spot on for QGJ and I love. And Grand Master Yoda absolutely does not approve, lol. I also love how QGJ really abuses Jedi Mind Trick and pretty much spams this ability in every dialog check encounter. Again - Love it. QGJ will do what must be done.
The Aurorient Express is a pleasure barge that has some serious issues going down to put things kindly. There's also a very fun "who's who" taking place.
Other key highlights include our favorite Star Wars quotes/one-liners, such as: - "Impossible!" from a Neimodian - "Just like the simulations!" from The Clone Wars - "I've got a bad feeling about this." from nearly every Star Wars movie, lol.
These QGJ and Obi comics are all receiving the best-in-class tag. They are absolutely that good.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. Qui-Gon and a young Obi-Wan investigate a sinking ship in a who-done-it type mystery. The humor works—the Jedi act as the “straight man” who suffer through an ensemble cast of quirky side-characters. I also really enjoyed how, despite the humor, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan were completely in character.
----
The Aurorient Express Y.E.37 is committed and committed by a writer who records several comics Agatha Christie, so it is no coincidence that in a Star Wars we get the paraphrase of the Orient Express. A screw, Agatha Christie, where everyone is suspicious and everyone has butter behind their ears (from insurance fraud to wife murder). However, it mixes very well with the Jedi's sparkling double, funny comics and Jedi wisdom. And in the end the conclusion: tkp. The Jedi did not speak into what was happening, but everything was resolved (which obi has filled with some outrage, but qui-gont filled with wise satisfaction).
