Vivekananda was the student of Shree Ramakrishna, who blessed him and enabled him to carry the essence of the Vedanta worldwide. He uplifted the Sanatana Dharma in the eyes of the west, and worked hard to improve situations in his own country.

He was against casteism and believed in inclusivity, something that is sorely lacking among people in the modern era.

Vivekananda revolutionised India, despite being attired as a sanyasin and facing the worst of odds.

It's an incredible story of a man who took quite some time to unfold his actions to change the world, He waited till his 29th birthday, but once he started to send ripples across the globe of his ideology, he could do profound things in mere 4 years, something which would take others a lifetime. At certain sections, he was portrayed as rude and demeaning and racist, which makes him less godly and more like us.

The book is written in rather simple words. Anybody who wants to know what made Vivekananda such an important figure in world history can sit down and flip its pages. The man himself has plenty of books under his name, out of which 'Kama Yoga; is highly recommended in the book.

Informative rather than inspirational for my 6 yr old, however a welcomed change for someone who reads books mostly from American library.
Hope one day he might read the entire biography of Swami!

"As different streams having their source in different places, all mingle their waters in the sea, so, o Lord, the different paths which men take through different tendencies...all lead to thee"

The body is the subject to the laws of nature, but the mind is ever in the bliss

Born as Narendranath, got guidance under Sri Ramakrishna, went across India to spread his teachings, then to Chicago religious parliament, and then to some other countries, back to India and continued his teachings.

It was an interesting crisp and concise read.
