Anna Griggs has never fought in a war, but her father has, and now that he's back he's brought the war home with him. At least that's what it feels like to she and her big brother Andy when they are forced to line up each night after dinner and give report on the day; when he takes off his belt if he doesn't like what he hears. And he seems to like less and less as the year progresses. As Anna, her brother and her mother each try to come to terms with their family's new rules the clock ticks down on how long their secrets will keep.
I think this is a terrific book. The writing style was great very easy to follow and comprehend and very much able to touch so many emotions ... I really dove into this book and let it surround me. I think the characters were right on and I loved how the writer developed them in the book.
