Beyond the wall of computers, all the books rested. Perhaps I belonged to every one of them. Fiction: Immortals aren’t real. Romance: I had a lovely wife who I adored. Horror: She died, in my bed, with my best friend. Mythology: I wish all of this was a myth. There she was. Curled up in an overstuffed chair. Like a child, I darted between the rows of books. She would give the occasional smile as she read. We stayed like this for some time—her reading, me watching. This was exciting. A new person. She was beautiful. That was three days ago. I’ve been reduced to watching her from afar, from this secluded spot across the street from her house. I’m Seth. I was named after Adam and Eve's third child. It's been centuries since I've been with a woman. Immortality can be a nuisance like that. The time, where does it go? I must make her mine. Some would say that I stalk. I don’t see it that way at all.
Carol Sabel Blodgett has one release...so far. "Wanderer" is the first in a five book series with Captive, Book 2, out in the coming months. Dozens of Five Star reviews have her excited as well as humbled. She has recently been offered a co-author position for a book series through her publishing agency, Story Merchant Books, and is excited to get the ball rolling there.
This was a really fast paced read. This was my first time to read this writers work and I was overall impressed. Here's my breakdown:
Pros: * Action packed plot * Likeable characters * The characters had some definite chemistry (but unfortunately they never had sex in this book) * Impressive writing style * Well edited - I noticed no type-o's etc * Awesome book cover * Offered as a kindleunlimited
Cons: * Cliffhanger ending - However, since book 2 is already available I'm not going to let that factor in on my overall rating * The insta-love was pretty strong. It was one of those "love at first sight" things for both the hero and heroine. Within a day or two together they are professing their undying love for one another. I just wanted a bit more foundation to their relationship. I think throughout this entire book they only spent a week in one another's company? * I didn’t like to hear about the heroes past sexual excursions. Granted, by the time he met the heroine he had been celibate for a hundred years plus, but I easily could have gone without the knowledge of his "banging prostitutes" days.
I liked this book well enough to continue on to the next book in the series. I just hope book 2 is the conclusion to this story and it doesn’t turn out to be a series that ends with multiple cliffhanger style endings. I did just see that this series will consist of 5 books. If the next book also ends on a cliffhanger I doubt Ill continue the series.
I'm a sucker for stories involving angels and demons and this one is a whopper of a story. Wow! The story line is truly fascinating (and creative) and the author threw in a twist at the end that I did not see coming. I loved it and can't wait to read book #2 when it comes out.
I was a bit skeptical after the first chapter because the way Seth stalks Erica is a little...well, creepy. But it wasn't long before I got on board with their attraction and undeniable connection to each other. If you enjoy stories of fate, then this will be right up your alley.
I'm not a huge fan of first person, present tense, but it worked in this story. For the most part I enjoyed the writing style - especially at the end - but there were times when it felt slow or repetitive. Even with that said, I am definitely going to be reading book #2 when it comes out because I absolutely have to know what happens!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 Stars) This book was insane in the absolute best way possible. From start to finish, it pulled me in and refused to let go. The writing was sharp and intentional—every detail felt necessary, with zero extra fluff weighing the story down, which made the pacing feel just right. The character development? Immaculate. Every character felt fully realized, layered, and believable. What really stood out to me was the relationship development. Even though there’s an instant connection, it never felt rushed or forced. The author took the time to build it up in a way that felt natural and realistic, which made every interaction hit that much harder. I also found the religious backstories and underlying ideals woven throughout the story to be incredibly interesting. They added depth and gave the plot something unique to stand on. And that ending… holy crap. I was not prepared. At 98%, I thought I had things figured out—and then the twist hit, and my jaw was on the floor. This was a wild, gripping read that balanced chaos and intention beautifully. Definitely one that sticks with you after you finish.
This book hooked me from the very first page and kept me captivated until the end. The writing is superb, the pacing intense, and the story feels refreshingly original. The characters are wonderfully crafted and truly unforgettable. By the halfway point, I was so invested that I immediately sought out the author online to follow her work. I’ve already recommended this book to friends, and now I highly recommend it to you as well. I can’t wait for book two!
Such an amazing story! This author has such a wonderful imagination. This book kept me interested from start to finish. Absolutely love that you got the story from all the characters . Seth and Erica pull you in and make you feel like part of their story . Looking forward to more great work from this exceptional writer !
I enjoyed the story very much. She did not repeat herself as do many authors. Great story line keeps you interested and want to continue to the next book.
I truly enjoyed Wanderer. The plot developed well but I felt some things were stated one too many times. Well developed characters and a really compelling romance! I couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading the next one!
Wanderer has an interesting take on the world of the Immortals. It's about good, evil and the obsession of possession.
Seth was a lawyer who fled his home due to an unexplained horrible crime. He now lives alone. He doesn't lack for anything but being an immortal can be lonely. He lost interest in relationships a long time ago.
Erica is a researcher. Her main interest lies in researching the occult. Something that she has inherited from her parents. Having been betrayed by her ex boyfriend, she guards her heart for fear of getting hurt again.
Since Seth laid eyes on Erica, he has been unable to stay away from her. He watches her from afar and is trying to find a way to meet her. He is afraid of having an adverse reaction from her but he follows her one day. As soon as they come face to face with each other, there is an instant reaction. A familiar feeling!
That day happens to mark the anniversary of a traumatic event in Erica's life. Her emotions get the better of her and Seth offers her a shoulder to cry on. This first encounter turns out to be more than anticipated and they arrange to meet again. This meeting takes place sooner than expected in view of a violation in Erica's personal space. Seth is furious and wants to protect her. He hasn't talked about himself to anyone for ages but soon opens up to Erica who in turn tells him a little more about herself.
Some of the events drive them to start an investigation and so it begins! They return to Seth's homeland and what they uncover is baffling. There are some very good news and some not so good ones. Seth discovers his true nature and that Erica's life might be in danger. The similarities in their drastic pasts can't be sheer coincidence as there is a dangerous and dark force at play. Can they escape the threats of this evil entity?
This story builds up gradually. The details are very thorough. Too much so in places where it affects the storytelling but it's worth persevering because once it's fully into its rythm, it becomes compulsive. Seth and Erica are exceptional main characters and the plot exhibits conceptual perfection. Erica is not who she appears to be either. It ends on a cliffhanger and the promise of what is yet to be revealed. I would recommend to lovers of paranormal romance.
I received a complimentary ecopy and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Carol Sabel Blodgett hits it out of the park with Wanderer! Blodgett is definitely an author to follow. I found the story of Seth and Erica captivating and couldn’t put the book down.
Seth is a shy, keep to himself kind of guy. He is strong, sexy and refined. Lord knows he’s had enough time to perfect his style. He really has no interest in anyone until he happens across Erica. He’s blown away by her.
Erica is smart, attractive and kind. She’s a woman’s woman. Someone any woman would be glad to call friend. She’s loyal, honest and caring. Erica has little to no interest in anyone until she spies Seth. He is not just good looking but gorgeous. Both are smitten but both have a hard time approaching the other. Each is conflicted but doesn’t realize the other one has even noticed them. Once they meet the chemistry is definitely there.
Then an unexpected event throws Seth and Erica together and on a journey across the world and into an adventure. They end up trying to solve a century’s old murder and Seth’s true origin. In doing so they find more than they ever hoped for and a supernatural force that refuses to be denied. Erica also starts to realizing something about herself and her past as well. This leads to a mystery all its own.
Wanderer is full of mystery, suspense and romance as well as the supernatural. It’s a page turner. The story is thrilling and new complications pop up you never see coming. I was completely enthralled. The only disappointing moment was when I read the last page. My heart sank. I am literally begging for more. I can’t wait to read the next installment of The Moncrief Legends. Happy reading!
Read this in a day. Could not put it down. The characters are well developed. I love Erica, she is not your average "I am so unsure of myself" heroine - she is bad ass, and Seth (my new book boyfriend) seals the deal. Great plot twists, engaging story line, nice sexual tension, a little violence, and a surprise twist. I can not wait to read the rest of the series. This is a must read if you like New Adult Paranormal books. First book from this author but it is so good, you would think she has been doing this for years. Read this book, get caught up in it, and then make sure to thank me later, leave an awesome review, and beg the author to finish the series!
This book grabbed me from page one and never let go! I am going to go crazy waiting for book two! The writing was fantastic the pace left my head spinning and heart pounding! The story is fresh the characters I love. Halfway through this book I totally started fangirling found the author's page on Facebook and started following her everywhere I could find her! I have recommended her book to all my friends and now I'm recommending it to you!
What can I say? This book just didn't click for me. I felt like I should love the story, but the delivery felt too rushed for me. I never felt like they developed their relationship. Additionally, the "romance" was WAAAAY too graphic. It hurt the story itself. The storyline would be getting interesting and I'd be starting to get into it and then BAM hot and heavy, graphic nastiness. Just didn't work for me.
I loved this book! The two main characters in the book are believable & likable. The point of view switches mainly between them which I absolutely loved! Several twists throughout the book that I wasn't expecting. I can't wait for the next book in this series to come out!!!
The author came up with a totally unique perspective of immortality. The adjective use describes the people and places as if you are they. Well thought out and very well written. I only wish they would give a date for the next book.
