Vishnu, they say, is just one of a powerful threesome - the highest lords of the universe. However, though Brahma has created the universe and Shiva can destroy it, it is up to the great god Vishnu to keep all creatures within it well and happy. Always compassionate, he is also the wisest of the trinity. It is he who good-naturedly sorts out the mess the others create. And above all, Vishnu always favours the good and the pure.
Anant Pai popularly known as Uncle Pai, was an Indian educationalist and creator of Indian comics, in particular the Amar Chitra Katha series in 1967, along with the India Book House publishers, and which retold traditional Indian folk tales, mythological stories, and biographies of historical characters. In 1980, he launched Tinkle, a children's anthology, which was started under Rang Rekha Features, India's first comic and cartoon syndicate, that lasted till 1998, with him as the Managing Director.
Today, Amar Chitra Katha sells about three million comic books a year, in English and more than 20 Indian languages, and has sold about 100 million copies since it inception in 1967 by Anant Pai, and in 2007 was taken over by ACK Media.
This series of Indian comic books is incredible! The stories are told so that someone who knows little (like myself) can learn important stories about Hinduism. This book concentrates on Vishnu and the way he interacts with his devotees. A very readable telling of these collected tales that is understandable and interesting.
Vishnu is more a love inspiring than fear inspiring deity. He's the preserver and is the second of the Primeval Hindu triad .Here are some his most selected stories taken from Bhagvata Purana which shows his benevolence and piety .
Lord Vishnu is calm, kind and affectionate towards his devotees. In this series, he saves a devout king who was cursed to live his life as an elephant, humbles the angry sage Agastya, outsmarts the nefarious demon Vrikasura and explains why the good Rantideva is his true devotee.
Amar Chitra Katha infuses these tales of mythology with some hidden life-lessons and whether you read them as a child or a weary adult....they still manage to twaek your senses.

This is better than some other ACKs which did not age well, unfortunately. As a nostalgic read, it's good. But I have to say that if you want to read it for kids, then there are much better books and comics available in the market now. I'm sure ACK has a newer and more suitable collection too.
