Save My Heart

Rate this book
I’ve spent my entire life protecting something.

The net
My teammates
My sister

I’ve played hockey my entire life. Had many girlfriends. Slept with more women than I care to mention. Been in love twice.

While one woman tried to control me by changing me into someone I no longer recognized, the other loved me not for who I could be, but for who I already was. She was my high school sweetheart but, like a fool, I walked away and let someone else take my place.

Now she’s back and even more beautiful than I remembered. But one glance tells me she’s guarded. At seventeen, I asked for something she wasn’t ready to give away. Today… I’d settle for holding her hand.

At one time she trusted me with her heart and I broke it. Now, I’ll do whatever it takes to convince her to let down her guard and give me a chance to prove I’m worthy of being trusted with it again.

I was the first boy she ever kissed. And after all these years, I want to be the man she kisses for the rest of her life.

I realise I am in the minority here, this is just my opinion, but this book was just 'ok' for me. The synopsis was interesting and I am always up for a second chance love story which this is. Scott and Skylar were together at school having known each other since early childhood . but never really hanging out in the same groups. He was the popular hockey star in the making. He could have any girl he wanted and for a brief while he wanted Skylar. Sky had a horrid childhood and for 6 months or so, Scott was her bright spot in a grey and sad homelife. I have to say, the circumstances in which they broke up and the words he said to her were horrible. The guy was blunt, nasty and a true douchebag. Sky moves away and makes something of her life but after 4 years their paths cross again and old feelings are revived.

I wanted Sky to play harder to get. I wanted Scott to be more single minded in his pursuit to get her back and by that I mean he was a bit too wishy washy. Both of them drove me a bit mad with the back and forth. The ending was lovely and I really liked the supporting characters - in fact, even though this book didn't live up to my expectations, I am going to read the other two in the series. These are standalones in a series but maybe I should have read them first.

Ultimately, I just didn't warm up to Skylar and Scott as much as I thought I would. I still felt at the end that she was better suited to her roommate / best friend Asher and I liked him way more than Scott.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

Slick's review:

I have really mixed emotions about this second chance at love book; on one hand I loved that these two found their way to one another again, but on the other hand the reason they broke up to begin with made me really angry at the hero and then there is the whole they were 18 at the time they originally broke up and people that age say and do really stupid stuff. The thing is for those people who believe in soul mates, this is a couple that makes you see that it is possible. Fresh out of college and at the beginning of what promises to be big careers, high school sweethearts are thrust together and forced to deal with the past and figure out if a future is possible between them. Poignant but hopeful and sweet yet sexy Save My Heart was a delightful read.

High school pressures break the seemingly perfect relationship between Hockey star and outgoing Scott Rivers and the quiet, bookworm Skylar Dennison. Add that to Skylar’s horrible home life, she flees Chicago and moves to live with her grandparents in Atlanta. Now a photographer and journalist for an online sports magazine she is being sent to Detroit to follow to high profile recent college hockey players as they begin their pro hockey careers.

It was so hard to look at this book objectively because honestly Scott pulled an a$$hole move with Skylar and while he realized it, he never did anything to truly make amends for it. Sky had ever right to hate Scott, but in her heart she never got over him and was never successful in another relationship. I did feel like Scott was a safe place for Skylar given her home life which made their breakup that much worse for her and for that reason and because I do believe Scott was remorseful I accepted that these two were meant for one another, it took me some time to get there but I eventually did.

Overall, I enjoyed this story but it had quite a bit more angst than the first two in this series and I felt like something was missing. While they made amends for the past, I think I needed more time with them in the here and now and learning each other as the people they’d become to really feel that new bond between them. I did enjoy seeing the couples from the first two books and getting glimpse into what is going on in their lives as well.

A break-up, make-up story with quite a grand gesture and a happily ever after most anyone would enjoy, Save My Heart was a sweet addition to the Fire and Ice series.

A gorgeously sweet and sassy love story that’ll have you believing in second chances…

What is happening to me? I’m sat here listening to Backstreet Boys’ Incomplete on repeat and writing a review on another Sports Romance… feeling like a puddle of mush. And, yes the box of tissues is empty because Rhonda James had me crying my heart out. Is it possible to even run out of tears? If so, mine have got to be almost there. Here’s the thing, I’m normally more into rough, volatile and fiery romances, however, as of late I’ve been reading more and more the sports, rom com kind that are all cheery and giggles and candy. Although Save My Heart definitely falls into this category, it also has a real heart-wrenching, soul-ripping and teeth clenching quality. At this very minute my chest feels so tight it hurts – even though I’ve hit the end. Which, by the way, Ms James… whaaaat? I know it’s not a cliffhanger, well it kind of is, but I am now waiting on my knees for that novella!

Anywho, considering this is a Sports Romance there’s actually only one proper game the whole way through, even if there are mentions to others. For me this was good, even if I am a massive hockey fan – ice or field – because it didn’t disrupt the story. Save My Heart centres around Skylar and Scott, high school sweethearts. The storyline could’ve gone a very predictable route, you know blah blah blah, but it was actually sweetly refreshing. The story wasn’t so far-fetched and out this world that it was difficult to keep up with it and the characters were compelling and endearing. Even Scott, who starts of as a bit of dick, is utterly lovable. I know that dirty talk is the norm, but let me tell you that Scott Rivers made me blush. This guy had me swooning one minute, drooling the other and then picking my tongue off the floor the next. His words are enough to make you orgasm. And, yes, I’m giggling and blushing as I’m writing this. Maybe salivating… a little… a lot… because that’s not the only good thing he does with his mouth!

One of the things I loved the most about Save My Heart is that there isn’t a big sob story, the type that has you feeling sorry for one of the characters because life has been a bitch. Okay, so Skylar’s had it rough… but that is never a big issue that needs to be addressed in a grand climax. Refreshing really seeing as a lot of stories in this genre use that as a way to get the reader to empathise with a certain character. In all honesty, James’ characters didn’t need this in one bit – it could’ve possibly detracted from the love story. I still can’t believe how emotional this book got me. I’m still all gutted and trying to pull myself together because I became so attached to the characters.

I’m just so happy that I got my hands on this gorgeous story. It had the right amount of heat, sensuality, sass and drama. The humour and banter were on point and really lifted the story to keep it light and bright. I’m already itching to get my mitts on the novella due in May. I really want to see what happens not just with Skylar and Scott but with Cage and Cassie, and Derek and Laney. This series is just exceptionally brilliant. I can’t get enough of it and I now want to re-read Jersey Girl… and that is exactly what i’m going to do. Start it all over again!

An emotional second chance romance, Save My Heart is the third book of a series, but can be read as a standalone. I have not yet read the previous books, but am excited to check them out. This book gave me all the feels.

Skylar and Scott have a chance meeting, four years after a devastating break up. Skylar is cautious and self protecting. Scott is an evolving jerk. I had trouble with Scott in the beginning, but the way his character grows throughout the story, you can't help but develop a soft spot for him.

I really enjoyed Save My Heart. The friendships, the chemistry, the humor, the relationships; it all made for a very well-rounded, fun story. The angst and light moments are perfectly weaved together and while I felt that the dialogue was a bit immature at times, Skylar and Scott finding their way back to each other makes it so you can't help but want more.

Rhonda James is one of the most gifted story tellers of our time. The stories she weaves are always emotional, relevant, sexy and in some way or another thought provoking.

Save my Heart is no exception, with many elements to it, it's much more than a Sports Romance, much more than a Romance .. it's just more.

For every action there is always a reaction. Sometimes we are lucky with the choices we make in life as they lead down a path of prosperity, love, wealthy etc. Sometimes we are unlucky in where the choices we made as youths end of leaving emotional scars that for some may take a lifetime to overcome.

Scott is a rising start in the Hockey world, he has wealth, fame, family and friends. The only thing he doesn't have is a love like most of his team mates have found, he doesn't have that because of one moment in time where a knee jerk reaction caused him to lose the one person who he ever loved. He has always taken care of others, been the strong one for his family, the time has now come for one person to find it in them to absolve his mistakes .. and in turn save him from his inner turmoil.

Skylar was a character I loved from the moment we were introduced to her, her loyalty, loving spirit, kindness and determination was an inspiration. Her childhood and even young adulthood was not easy, it left deep emotional scars, the biggest being self doubt. Only one person was her anchor, her safe haven .. until they weren't. Until they became her deepest heartbreak.

This story is about evolution and second chances. About how one decision affected the life of not one person but two. Devastation comes in all forms .. however so does redemption. Scott and Skylar both evolved throughout the pages of this spellbinding emotional read, however Scott .. he taught us ALL lessons. Ones that I will carry with me for a long time.

The pages are peppered with hilarity, passion and somber moments. None too over powering, none too weak .. Each turn of the page brought forth a different emotion in me and each turn of the page sucked me in more and more. The struggle these two characters had when faced with each other after years apart lead them down a path in which they either needed to forgive or to forget. One decision will leave them devastated on decision will grant them the elusive HEA, which path will they take? You need to read to find out.

Save my Heart might be Book 3 in the Sticks and Hearts Series but this one was all Scott and all HEART.

“And for the record, you can try blending in all you want, I’ll still know you’re there.”

5+ Save My Heart Stars!!! Just when I thought Scotty didn’t have any redeeming qualities, he comes in and sweeps me off my feet!!

If you read Jersey Girl then you know Scotty and what a complete jerk he was in that book. I will be the first one to stand up and say I hated that man… HATED. So when I started reading this one… I knew I’d never accept him as a book boyfriend… no way.. He’s a jerk, right? OMG NO!!! This book will show you why Scotty is the jerk he is and he just may steal your heart… I know he stole mine. And don’t get me started on Skylar… seriously… if I could chose a book girlfriend of book best friend Skylar would be at the top of my list! She’s seriously so perfect… she’s quirky, sassy, and so much fun! I can see why Scott falls for her.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of all things Rhonda James and while I do have certain favorites of hers… I will say with complete certainty that this book is at the top of my list! I love a good second chance romance book and a man who can completely redeem himself! I’ve never been a huge Captain America fan, but after reading this I think I am! If you love super sweet, redeeming second chance romance books, then I will say you need to go one click this book now! Rhonda James you’ve outdone yourself yet again!!

Title: Save My Heart
Author: Rhonda James

5 amazing stars

I've often wondered if there's ever a way to forget your first love or your high school sweetheart. That one person that you fell in love so deeply but ended things on a sour note, but when you get to see them again, are the emotions still as strong as they once were? I've always wondered and never got an actual answer. Sometimes I ask myself if i really want to know. Then i read a book by Rhonda James and i'm floored by the unexpected emotions that his me - Scott and Skylar's story sounded so familiar that i was completely and whole heartedly invested in it. Finally getting Scott's side of his actions made so much sense that I couldn't bring myself to hate him, but neither could i not dismiss how Skylar felt every time she was hurt.

4 breath taking dreams

This was a beautiful story that had my heart fluttering. Is it so wrong to admit that i didn't want it to end? Because i absolutely fell in love with this tight nit GLU family all over again and know that i'll be revisiting them again from the very beginning. Rhonda James truly knows where she wants to send her readers when they dive in her stories and i'm not one to complain about the fuzzy feelings that took me over as i followed this great journey.

Whew I have to say out of all the books I have read in this series, this one is by far the most emotional for me. BUT it’s also my favorite and holds a lot of sentimental value for me because I married my high school sweetheart so I was emotionally connected more to the characters.

I am so glad we finally get to see the true side to Scott because I knew he had a story to tell and boy was it a good one. Scott and Skylar’s story is very emotional, heartbreaking, and soul shattering, but it’s also beautiful and redeeming. Scott and Skylar were high school sweethearts, but their relationship ended on bad terms. Scott made a choice that affected them both for the next several years. Now after 4 years, they are going to be face to face. Can Skylar forgive Scott for the mistakes of the past? Can Scott prove to Skylar that he was young and naïve and made the wrong choices?

Let me tell you… at first I had a love/ hate relationship with Scott. I was so pissed off at him for what he did, but as the story progressed I understand why. Yes, he was dumb for making those choices, but I believed he learned from his mistakes. Scott and Skylar really are soul mates and destined to be together. If you love second chance romances, this is definitely the book for you. I loved it and can’t wait to see what Ms. James brings next!

I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. Its the third book in the Sticks & Hearts Series. Rhonda James is one of my favorite authors and I loved Jersey Girl. This book is about Scott, Cassie's brother from Jersey Girl. Its written in alternating pov's. My only complaint is that it ends at 92% to give a preview of Jersey Girl which should have been read prior to this book.

Scott dates Skylar for 5 months in high school. She never feels like she is worthy of him. She is a nerd and he is the hockey jock and they run in different circles. On the night she finally decides she will give her virginity to him she changes her mind. This frustrates him and he says some things he shouldn't have due to all his built up frustrations and ragging from his buddies. They break up and after hearing her worst nightmare may have come true she leaves town to live with her Grandparents in Atlanta.

4 years later they have both graduated from college. He has been drafted into the NHL and she is a writer/photographer for a magazine owned by the same company Derek's (from book 2) works for in Detroit. Her boss sends her to Detroit to interview and follow around Scott and Brantley (book 1) for the magazine. Derek picks her up at the airport and the next night invites her to dinner with him, Scott, Brantley, Josh and their girls. This will be the first time they see each other in 4 years. This is their second chance to get things right and its not without a little drama but they do get their HEA. There will also be a novella with Brantley and Cassie's wedding and the birth of Derek and Laney's baby in May of 2017.

Save My Heart by Rhonda James is an emotional second chance love story between two souls who've never gotten over a broken past. In Rhonda's third installment of her Sticks & Hearts series, we have Scotty & Skylar's story told through flashbacks and present day. Scotty has graduated GLU and is about to start his first season in the NHL, but something is missing. Even though he's achieved his ultimate goal of playing in the NHL he's still missing what most of his friends already have - someone to LOVE. Skylar loves her job working for PLAY magazine but when given a new assignment to cover Detroit's newest rookies she has a hard time putting her emotions in check. After 4 years, Skylar will have to face Scotty who broke her heart and sent her running off to a different state. Will these two be able to close the distance between them after so much time has passed or is this high school love story meant to stay in the past?

Wow, Rhonda has done it again! Hat trick scored. Save My Heart did everything I wanted Scotty's story to do. Scotty finds some redemption and we the readers understand why he's been jaded by women and not just his awful ex Ashley. Skylar is a nieve young woman in high school who even though she loved Scotty when outside forces start to interfere with her relationship she chooses to run rather than deal with the truth. You can see Skylar even 4 years later still has a deep-rooted fear of giving her heart to someone. I loved the interaction and blending of previous characters into the storyline - yes all our favorites are back! Even though everyone has moved on from GLU they are still close and rely on each other which warms your heart to see. Oh, and a couple of amazing surprises too! Each of our leads has been given superhero nicknames and I adore the one Scotty has - not just because it's my favorite marvel superhero - but because it fits his character perfectly. Save My Heart had me running the range of emotions and you can help falling for Scotty & Skylar along the way. 5 Water Tower kisses for Save My Heart by Rhonda James

I won this book as a arc and while I was thinking no one could possibly top Brantley I was pleasantly surprised. Scotty completely blew me away in this book and I'm thinking maybe took my place for my boy Brantley. Rhonda tells a wonderful story of redeeming someone who you really didn't think was going to turn out to be such a wonderful person. I would highly recommend reading this book and falling in love with Scotty and Skylar.

This is the third book in the Sticks and Hearts series by Rhonda James and I was blown away! I was pulled in from the prologue but was left broken hearted and could only hope she would put the pieces back together. Scott and Skylar had chemistry and a connection from the begining. I loved being able to "hang out" with the characters from the two previous books. This was a wonderful second chance romance book. I do not usually like books with flashbacks, but in this story they were placed perfectly and made you have a better understanding of the couple. Beautifully written. Scott had me swooning! This book took me on an emotional journey but I loved every minute of it and couldn't put it down. I received an ARC of this book!

Review:
This is the third book in the Sticks & Hearts series. I have really enjoyed reading about the men in this series who play hard and love harder. I must admit that I was not a fan of Scott in the first book, Jersey Girl. To be quite honest, I didn’t like him at all and I liked his controlling girlfriend even less. Now we get to see a new Scott, or maybe I should say the old Scott. The Scott back in high school who fell in love with a simple girl who loved him for just being Scott. Plot. Now that Scott realized what we all new, he has moved on from Ashley, but Ashley doesn’t want to let him go. When Skylar, Scott’s ex from high school reenters his life he is given a second chance at true love. He only has to convince Skylar to give him another chance. He also has to get Ashley to get out of his life once and for all. The chemistry between Scott and Skylar is sweet and pure. As much as I disliked Ashley, that is how much I liked Skylar. Skylar is the best friend that we all want. The sad part is that Skylar doesn’t realize just how loving and special she is. This book reads quickly. Although it is a stand alone in a series, there are many characters from the first two books. No, you don’t need to read the other books in this series to enjoy Save My Heart, but why would you not want to read about these exciting young hockey players and the women that capture their hearts? This story has the perfect happy ever after with the perfect struggle to get you there. Wonderful character development as well as continued development of the other characters in this series that I love reading about.

Did anyone else want to kick teenage Scott in the nuts or was that just me? God it had me back in high school and my heart hurt for Sky!

This book had two things I really enjoy in books and life.....Hockey and second chance love stories.

You may remember Scott from the previous installments in this series as Cassie's brother. I will admit....not the biggest fan of his attitude from book 1-but let's see if he can be redeemed shall we?
Scott and Sky date for what could be considered a hot minute (5 months) in high school. But Scott....being SCOTT, flips the douche switch because boo hoo his friends are making fun and wondering why he has not "sealed the deal" Sky is all for having sex, but she wants her first time to be special and mean something and Scott's whole attitude and demeanor that night put her off. And of course, true to typical high school guy form, he's an ass to her, breaks up with her and breaks her heart.

She takes off to pursue her own life and career while Scott goes to college to pursue his hockey. 4 years later he, along with Brantley, have been drafted and Sky's job sends her to shadow these guys for her magazine.

And so, these two rekindle their relationship in what can honestly be described as sugary sweet. Scott turned out to not make me hate him so much now even though I think Sky was way to easy on the guy. All in all, a cute mixed with some heat, quick little read and worthy installment in the series!

But.....my heart still belongs to Derek Davis!

I loved this book from the absolute first chapter! What an absolute roller coaster ride of emotions- I laughed, wanted to cry, and smiled so hard my face hurt! Scott and Skylar have a chemistry like no other! The author has done an absolutely amazing job of creating two characters that complement each other in such a beautiful way.
Skylar and Scott begin as high school sweet hearts- but when Skylar isn't ready to lose her virginity to Scott who is under pressure from friends at school- their relationship takes a turn for the worse. Skylar flees her hometown, away from her one true love, and her emotionally abusive alcoholic mother. Skylar has made a name for herself working at a newly launched sports magazine, and gets sent on assignment to follow two up and coming hockey rookies. One of these hockey rookies ends up being the one and only Scott Rivers. The two become reacquainted, and its evident they both are still in love with each other. After countless swoon worthy moments, insecurity issues, and a crazy ex-girlfriend, these two definitely put you on one of the best second chance- roller coaster ride romances.

This book may be book three in the Sticks & Hearts series, but it is a standalone in this series. This is the first book I have read by this author and in this series. Oh, I definitely want to go back and read the other two cause we see these characters in this book and they look like they are going to be good stories just like this one was.
We see a story about getting a second chance at romance and trying to put the past behind you to move forward. This is an emotional read and tells the story of the past and present so that we can get the insight of what the relationship was like before and the events that left them broken. At one point it was almost like the past re-creating itself and had me worried for a bit there. Then there was a moment with the "ASH" and my heart was going to drop, until we found out which one it was. Whew! Heart was saved though! haha.
Scott and Sklyar were high school sweethearts until one bad decision on Scott's part left Sklyar broken and leaving town. They have not spoken since and that is going to change now as Skylar's job has her traveling to interview Scott and his hockey team. Oh boy, the tension and misunderstanding that occur will leave you not wanting to be interrupted to see where this leads. The chemistry and sassy reserved Skylar should know that Scott can see right through her and knows she is trying to play it safe. These two are stubborn and others can see that they both still have feelings for each other. Can Scott get her to say, "Yes, again" or will they realize that the past is the past and now that they have spoken after four years and got the answers they needed, closure is settled? This is what you will be wondering while reading this. She was the first boy she kissed, can he be the last man she kisses?
The ending was heart-swooning in multiple ways and I cannot wait to read the novella on the whole crew.

I generously received this ARC from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review...

This was the third book in the Sticks & Hearts series, but it can easily be read as a standalone, which was great because this happened to be the first book that I have read from Rhonda James. I can now honestly say that I cannot wait to go back and read the previous two novels in this extraordinary series. The author has an amazing talent with words, instantly capturing the attention of her readers.

In this beautifully written second chance romance we meet Scott and Skylar. The author shows us glimpses into their past and how their love for one another came to an abrupt end in high school. Fast-forwarding a few years the author takes us on a journey of a lifetime, bringing these two loves back together in one of the most interesting way. Since I don't want to ruin anything for potential readers (which I hope you all are), I will leave you with this - if you are a hopeless romantic, then this is the book for you. Rhonda James truly knows how to transform a story and capture the reader whole body and soul. If you decided to pick up Save My Heart, you will not be disappointed!

3.5 Sweet and Sassy Stars
This is my first Rhonda James
book, and it is part of a series,
book 3. I was able to pick it
up easy and it felt like a stand
alone, I did meet the others
from the previous books, but it
did not hinder me in reading this.

This is a second chance hockey
romance. Scott and Skylar knew
each other from childhood. Parts
of this were really sweet and I
overall enjoyed the book. The reason
for the 3.5 is I wanted Skylar to
want more from Scott, and I
wanted him to push more for
Skylar. I thought she deserved
him to fight for her a little more
than he did.
I will go back and read the previous

Book 3 in the Sticks and Hearts Series is yet another fantastic book by Rhonda.
The prologue in this book was utterly gut wrenching and sets up the rest of the book just beautifully.
Scott absolutely redeems himself in this book after his less than desirable behaviour in book 1.
Skylar is just a beautiful person. She has her own insecurities, but is strong enough to walk away from the people who are supposed to love her the most when they refuse to show her that love.
Hopefully Jordan will get his own story soon!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I wasn't sure how Rhonda was going to redeem the a hole. However, she does it with flying colors! She does it flawlessly! Scott was made more human and lovable throughout the book.

He is determined to live for himself and to do and have the things he wanted without the outside interference that he has allowed to rule his life for so long and made him lose the one thing he wants back now more than anything.

Is it too late for Scott to reach for the Sky?
we shall see!

Wow what an amazing book that Rhonda James has written. Such emotion she pulls through this book through her characters. I am now a huge fan of hers!

This is a story about a 2nd chance love between Scott and Skylar he is such a jerk and she knows it a terrible mistake has made Skylar go away and now he is back to reclaim it. These two characters have such a wonderful chemistry between them both and you truly hope for the best between them.

This ARC was given in exchange for an honest review.

Book 3 in the series...

Another great read. I first read Jersey Girl some time ago and was hooked by Rhonda James' writing, storytelling skills. I have since then have pretty much read everything of hers.

This book has lived up to my expectations.

Enter Scotty, whome we were introduced to in the very first book of the series. He is Cassie's big brother, and Brantley's best friend.
Enter Skylar. Scotty and Skylar had history. which ended badly. She was the one he let get away. There is still love between them. You can see it. You can feel it. But there are obstacles--insecurity, drama.. Can they find happiness?

I really, REALLY enjoyed this book. It was a geat additon to the series.
There are some topics that stand out to e. The rubber boots(!!!), the superhero references (as a superhero geek, this was totaly up my alley!), and as usualy with Rhonda James' style, the playlists.

Definitely must read.

I have never read Rhonda James before reading this series. I had to read it because I love the sport of hockey. Then reading a love story, sexy and they play hockey. That’s a hat trick in my book.

The writing flow and pace were perfect. The story line was great and I enjoyed the premise.

I loved this second chance at romance book. When I read about Scott before, I did not like him. I never thought I would. Then I go and read this book and I fell in love with him. When the book opens I wanted to junk punch him. I know whiplash, right? Hate him then love him. Why do teenage/young adult boys always do stupid things?

Scott and Skylar never got over each other. They dated back in high school. They broke up and moved on. Or so they thought. So when they see each other again because Skylar has a job to do in following him around to write an article and photo shoot.

I loved and adored Skylar from the moment she entered. Just from her personality, she would be someone I would like to be friends with. She did not have the best upbringing in her mother, but she rolled with it and didn’t let it drag her down. She was so strong and smart. She is so many young women. We all have self-doubt, well then the one person she could count on blew it up even more. I could identify with her.

This book gave me the warm and fuzzies. I loved it from start to finish. I was only disappointed when it ended. I wanted so much more these two. They have great friends and confidants. Awesome teammates and one horrid ex-girlfriend. Save My Heart is told in both Scott and Skylar points of view. This is my favorite in the series thus far. Now I want Jordan’s book. I would love to read about him.

Save My Heart is a second chance romance novel. I really like Skylar and how she matures and finds herself. At times I had to keep reminding myself that the characters haven't really lived and are still a little young. Scott is a great match for Skylar. I feel like we get to know the characters to a point but some stuff was rushed. Save My Heart kept me interested from beginning to end and I'm looking forward to going back a reading the first books in the series.

3 words: Rubber Ducky Boots!

Rhonda James brings it with these series!!! I was excited to read Scott's story. I knew reading the last book that there was something brewing. And I was right! But just because I had a feeling this was going to be a great story, nothing prepared me for what I was getting into. I love our GLU hockey team. They come back together and you hear from all of our favorite players. Hockey is still the heart of this series. I made sure I had the time to be able to read this book.

I am in total awe with Skylar! That babe had always gone through the "awkward stage" her whole life. The only time she felt that she was actually worth it, was when she was with Scott....until he became a prick and broke her heart. Don't worry, he admitted that what he did was an a*hole move. Is he ready to be a man and be the best that he can be for himself and Sky?

Save My Heart is an amazing story! You get heart ache, jealousy, crying, and even laughs. I am telling you, I will never look at a rubber ducky the same way again. My book friends, you need to make sure you one-click this book and continue this journey with the GLU men. The freaking sexy scenes will make you melt and give you all the feels. Rhonda knows what we need and we definitely get it!!

Rhonda James has done it again!!!

This series just keeps getting better and better!!!! Scott and Skylar's story is young love that is broken, then years later all the behavior of our beloved hockey player is more understood!! Second and sometimes third chances do come around and you should grab them! Another 5 star read!!! Can't wait for the next book!!!!!

Wow just wow

Author Rhonda James just scored a hat trick with the third book of this series. She has truly poured her heart and soul into this book. We all have regrets especially the ones that irrevocably changed the path of our life. Scott as a typical teenager let peer pressure cost him the love of his life. He has loved others but has not truly been in love. As fate would have it, Scott is given a second chance as the love of his life, Skylar, is sent on an assignment to interview and document his career as an up and coming hockey player. Hurt, fear, and love are just a few of the emotions in this book. At times I giggled but I also cried. This story is well written and balanced. Scott and Skylar's story is one of courage to face the past while learning to trust their love for each other!!! This is an amazing series and I am looking forward to more books!!

What a read!! I absolutely loved Scott and Skylar's second chance romance.
This book was beautifully written and covered lots of emotions.
Scott and Skylar's first rodeo is when they are 18 and still in high school. Skylar has had a tough time with her Mom and has never felt good enough for budding Hockey star Scott. Skylar leaves town never looking back but never forgetting her feelings for her first love.
Fast forward 4 years and fate causes their paths to collide and this pair of soul mates realize quickly that their story isn't over!!!

"Skylar is that center, she is my calm" -Scott Rivers

Loved it!!

"This is what I needed to see. My God, you're glowing. I love this. Love us like this."

We all have our favorite book series and we have our reasons that make them our favorites. The Sticks and Hearts series by Rhonda James is one of my all-time favorites. I love her ability to draw you into the story, so much so that you feel like you've stepped into the pages, and her talent at making the characters more than that. When I read a book in this series I feel like I'm catching up with old friends and family.

With that being said, I wasn't sure about Scott's story. He definitely redeemed himself at the end of Jersey Girl, but was he permanently changed by his ex, Ashley? Or was the sweet guy that we caught glimpses of in JG still there?

Let me just say, I am #TeamScott now. Save My Heart is, without a doubt, Scott's redemption. You can't help but fall in love with him in this book. He has a heart of gold and it just shines through. I loved watching him and Skylar find their way back to each other and grow in their love and relationship.

And have I mentioned how much I adore Skylar? Because I do. And maybe it's because I see some of myself in her, but I admire that she didn't let her rough upbringing stand in the way of following her dreams.

If you love second chance romances, I highly recommend Save My Heart. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll fall in love with this amazing cast of characters.
