Great book about coincidence and spirituality

A disappointing novel. Alan is in his 40's and recently divorced. He sold his business to take a motorcycle across the country in search of enlightenment. He winds up a few hours away in Ocean City NJ. So far so good. Then he meets Jean who helps him find a place to live. However the book then takes a turn to almost a textbook reading which I really did not care for. I was looking for the story.
