Obert Skye read his first book at age two. He wrote his first story at age four. And he was nearly trampled by a herd of water buffalo at age six. For a short time, he lived on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, where he spent time as a candy-taster. Several years ago, Obert Skye says, he discovered the existence of Foo. Publishing his story as a fictional series was not Obert’s first choice. Nevertheless he is content that the “history” is being told.

As always, the writer of this great Leven Thumps series never fails to surprise me! This book was absolutely great. I flew through the pages, finishing it faster than any other book in this sereis.
It had some funny chapter titles; I also liked the cover--an illustration of Ezra by Benjamen R. Sowards. That toothpick was very rude, but I was surprised at the end of the book that I could get so wide-eyed and tense over his seeming demise.
Get ready to fight with your eyes closed, get buried alive, witness Shatterball and the death of Time...Read!

Leven, Foo's new Want, is being kept secret from the rest of the magical realm until all his Want powers are fully developed. The gang hunts down Knoll, a henchman of Azure, and finally suceeds in worming some information out of him.
They rest at the Devil's Spiral, home to the Eggmen, candy-makers of Foo, before journeying to Cusp, so they can observe the Shatterball tournament and hunt down Azure, and further try to stop this war to unite Reality and Foo.
Azure has some devious plans: he has raised the Dearth, an even eviler being than himself, to assist in the war--however, both are plotting each others death.

The secret is released and war is coming to Sycophant Run. There, a mysterious but permanent gateway to the real world exists. The sycophants have a glass map, showing the way to Reality. Should they shatter the map for the greater good, so Azure and his armies won't be able to get into Reality?

Meanwhile, in our world, Tim gets into Foo, and Terry and Addy get into the picture for real.

The TRUE war to unite Foo and Reality has began!
And so has the war to stop it.

One of my biggest complaints in "ya fiction" series is that they spend way too much time rehashing what happened in previous books. Typically, this drives me bananas. This is one of the first books I have noticed that does not do that, and strangely, it made me crazy! That's because it has been nearly a year since I last read #3, and I couldn't immediately pull up who was who or where they were. Odd.

I also have to add that although Kirkus Reviews said the book had "Splendidly unpredictable plot twists...culminating in a literally explosive climax" I found that to be untrue. The end was kind of dumb, kind of weak. It ended more like the end of a chapter, not a book. I wasn't so impressed. Personally, it's getting a little long winded, but probably that's just me.

THIS BOOK COUNTS AS TWO BOOKS

The Wrath of Ezra is about Ezra and Dennis trying to stop people from Foo trying to get to Reality. It is also about Leven becoming the Want. The sychophants are also trying to stop people from Foo Trying to get to Reality.

I gave this book 5 stars because once again I couldnt put it down.

I would recomend this book to anyone who liked the first 3 books in the Leven Thumps series.

With the other three books in this series, it always took me a LONG time to get through it...not because they are hard to read, but I was kind of bored in a lot of sections. With this book, I was hooked within the first chapter. It is really nice now that all the characters are developed and they are finally reaching the climax of the story. I thought it was well done, and I am finally learning to enjoy the writing style. I love that you get to delve farther with Leven's powers as the Want and the relationship between Leven and Winter and Geth and Clover. I love Clover! He is wonderful at comic relief. It is also interesting to know that Leven's dad is still alive. It has an interesting twist to it though. This was a great book for children and adults alike. I really enjoyed it.

Couldn't finish this. Finally put it down into a give away box along with the rest of the series. My nostalgic heart aches a bit but why keep a book that brings you no enjoyment or fulfillment?

"Leven Thumps and Wrath of Ezra"; by Obert Skye is definitely one of my favorite books out of the series. It's a fantasy adventure story filled with action, humor, mystery, and suspense. The author takes it to a whole new level by creating strange creatures, refreshingly new characters, and a land never known before.
The story takes place in Foo, the place where man kinds' dreams and imaginations become possible. Without these two places kept separate, everything would turn to complete chaos, or even worse, cease to exist. That is exactly what the inhabitants of Foo don't know when they gather to merge the two realms with the guidance of Azure and the evil Dearth. Together Leven Thumps and his friends Clover, Winter, and Geth must stop the army and leaders from succeeding before it's too late and all of humanity perishes. Meanwhile in Reality, Ezra, Geth's evil toothpick half, and Dennis Wood, a used-to-be janitor are also causing chaos in an already chaotic world, preparing for the Dearth to come and take over.
My favorite character would have to be Clover, Leven's sycophant. (Sycophants are beings who are assigned to someone who has come into Foo.)
He always keeps the story exciting and surprising. Clover also has a funny sense of humor. Here is a quote:
'"Sorry," Clover said. "Geth started lecturing me and I couldn't take it." "It wasn't a lecture," Geth insisted. "You were throwing rocks at that poor fish." "You saw the way he was looking at me," Clover argued."'
I feel this book was very well written, because of the picturesque description, realistic dialogue, and the exciting plot that unravels throughout the story. The writing style is also humorous a lot of the time, and sometimes the author overdoes it a bit. But, anyone would agree the artistry overpowers the bad points. "Colorful trees and lush growth flourished along the roads and in the yards of every structure. Birds flew through the balloon-filled sky in magnificent patterns, showing off their colors and skills. The intricate stone streets and tall, esthetically pleasing homes competed with the trees and rivers for people's attention."
Will Leven stop the Dearth and Ezra from destroying everyone? Or does Fate have something else in mind? Read "Leven Thumps and the Wrath of Ezra" to find out!

I liked this book better than the third one, but there were still way too many main characters. I was glad Leven wasn't separated from Winter and Geth this time like usual. I also liked the way in which Janet has progressed. Her character has definitely grown the most. I did think Janet and Osk's romance was a little weird, though.

I wish we were given more details. For instance, why has Winter grown five years in just a few short weeks? I understand that Leven is an offing and grows through experience, but Winter isn't an offing, so why is she maturing just as rapidly? I'm also not sure what to think about Sabine's continual reappearance. He died in the first book, why do we keep seeing him? Honestly, communicating through Dennis' skin is just a little creepy, and I really could have done without it.

I've lowered my review for this book as compared to some of the earlier ones. In the end, all the little niggling annoyances that I had with series at first are amplified in this one. Honestly, one can't help but feel that Obert Skye is shooting for these books to be humorous. But the humor simply isn't worth the time spent on it. New annoyances include a complete lack of explanation for why certain events occur and how Ezra mysteriously has gained insight into pop culture. I'm sure it was to try and enhance the humor, but instead, it just falls flat and feels exceedingly disjoint from all the prior tales.

As there is only one more book in the series, I'll definitely see it through. The tale itself is still well-wrought. It's a shame that the writing can't match the level of the plot.

Although this book had a number of great plot points, it just wasn't that good. It kind of feels like the author has just given up and is pushing himself to finish the series. There were a lot of shortcuts that didn't make a whole lot of sense, and the style felt extremely forced. I'll read the next (and final!) book when it comes out, and I'm excited to see how the story ends, but I'm afraid the series overall just isn't as much fun as it was to start with.

I took me forever to get interested in this one. About half-way throught it started to draw me in. If you haven't read the previous books, it will make virtually no sense to you, so it is essential that you read the previous 3 books before this one. Also, I wasn't thrilled with the ending. Overall, it was OK, but I would never read it again. Not worth the time and energy, and too many loose end and chapters that were never tied back into the story.

2*'s. Second to Last book in the series. Maybe I didn't noticed it in the first few books, maybe he totally changed his writing style, I don't know. But the start of - EVERY- chapter began with a long paragraph, sometimes two, about absolutely nothing. It annoyed the heck out of me. This book is a cliffhanger.

Everything is heating up and heading for the confrontation between Foo and Reality. Leven continues to grow and change. Ezra and Dennis also continue to grow (kind of) and work their way towards Foo. We're heading into the final showdown!

I love these books, I’ve been reading them for the longest time and I’ve loved each book even more than the last one. I love being able to see each of the characters evolve into smart, mature, intense, and just the perfect heroes that a story would need. You go from watching Leven as a small kid in the beginning who is shy and bullied to this young man by book four that is commanding armies and is confronting the most dangerous creatures in Foo. Leven goes from being able to hardly keep up with the stressors of school to being able to endure the weight of keeping two worlds from colliding together. This book has many points of views that have a huge impact on the story line and the way that you feel about everything that is going on. You have good people fighting against Leven for good reasons while you have bad people doing the same thing, so you end up feeling very, very conflicted with what is really good and what is really bad. You Have characters that the only way they can get back to their families is if they bridge the portal back to reality, but at the same time you have Leven and his guys keeping this from happening because they believe that it will destroy all reality and life.

This series started out so so good! The first book was 5 stars! The only reason this book and the third book are rated even at 3 and 4 stars is because my son keeps saying he really likes them, but I can tell he doesn't like them as much as the first or second. The first flowed really well when reading it aloud, but this just seemed clunky and hard to get through.

This book has a lot of superfluous uninteresting things going on. There are some chapters that focus solely on some sychophants trying to make sure the key is in the right place or a map is destroyed or something. I don't know why but both my son and I found those incredibly dull. The books are losing their focus I think. We don't see enough of the main characters and instead there is action all over the place, not all of it interesting.

Also, this book BADLY needs editing! I noticed especially towards the end, there are simple misspellings and typos! "Though" when it should be "through;" a character, "Reed," spelled "Read" once; and words without spaces between them.

It wasn't all bad. Clover is still great, and Ezra is becoming a fun character as well. I am not sure if I'm looking forward to reading the last book or if I'm looking forward to being done with the series.

My childhood series

I never read Harry Potter as a kid because my small child brain was obsessed with this series. I never read the last book so I’m looking forward to that.

Obviously the book isnt perfect, sometimes the writing is a little choppy and weirdly worded, but it still holds a special place in my heart.

I also really like the addition of the illustrations throughout the books, theyre really well done for a middle grade novel.

The narrator seemed to be a little more chatty in this novel. Leven, Clover, Winter, Geth, and the rest of the characters continued to be tossed around by fate into interesting situations. We delved deeper into Foo and found out a little more about why fate pulled so hard on certain characters. New characters join the cast promising interesting resolutions in the fifth and final novel in the series. (Can you guess which book I shall read next?)

I really tried to finish this series, so I could say I finished it, and check off another childhood series completed, but my god this book just drags on for no reason whatsoever. Will gladly donate the series, and hopefully it'll be picked up by someone else who can enjoy it more.

- This was the most stressful book in the series by far. I was nearly crying just at the thought of something happening to clover.
- Not at all a fan of Leven’s dad, he gives me major ick vibes.
- I love that Leven has reached his full potential and I can’t wait to see what happens with it.

It was a good book, but it was a bit weird to have the writing style changed a bit from the last three books in the series. I'm curious to see if the author will continue to use the new style in the final book in the series.
