Hot Scots #1

One Hot Scot

Rate this book
Scotland’s never known a heat like this.

Fin Hayes has ninety-nine problems. Quite literally.

She's lost her husband, her job, recently avoided jail time, and is back living in the place she's always loathed . . . when problem #100 walks in.

Rory Tremaine is ripped, rich, and handsome, and a blast from the past who seems to have no recollection of Fin. But second time around that's okay, because when she's near his firm ass and tattoos, she's using a fake name anyway.

At least she won't be leaving her virginity behind this time. Instead, she might just risk losing her heart.

Okay, I've read a lot, like A LOT, of romance novels. Can't even count the number of intimate scenes I've read. The FIRST intimate scene in this book? Best one I've read...ever. It was sweet. It was hot. I had to read it a second time, just to be sure I was right. Yep. Best first sex scene ever.

I enjoyed the rest of the story, too. I had some suspicions about where some things were going, but this author kept it fresh, and fun.

Rory is definitely One Hot Scot. He's also incredibly endearing when he needs to come clean, and I'm not talking about a shower scene, either! So, besides being Hot, he's also quite sweet. I like that in a guy.

Fin is trying to get back on her feet. She's had a really rough time of it, and she really needs to just let loose. At least that's what her friends are telling her. When Rory walks in, all soaking wet, and HOT, and he doesn't recognize her, well...why not have some fun times while she's getting her life in order? Yeah, sounds good to me!

There are several enjoyable supporting characters that made this a well-rounded read. While this one does stand on it's own, Ivy is getting her own book next. I look forward to that one, too!

I recommend this one to those that love Hot Scots. Isn't that all of us? ;)

4 Hot Scot STARS
Time passes. Time heals. Time sucks. I´m weary of being told all I need is time, when in actual fact what I need is time out.

I was struggling a little bit about how to rate this book, if either 3.8 or 4 stars, and I think I´m gonna give it 4 because the cover (just take some time to appreciate it please), and because I had such a good time reading this one.

description

Finola "Fin" Hayes is a 26 years old, that due an amount of unfortunate events is back at her hometown in Scotland. She´s living with her best friend Ivy, which is a successful hair stylist that has her own reasons to be back at Scotland, and helping her in her new salon in town. While she would love to hide and not have to face the town she grew up and people’s judgement for her mother’s "free-spirited" reputation, she has no other choice to face reality.

Is in this new reality where her life crashes for the second time with one person she never expected to see again. Rory Tremaine, one truly hot and cocky scot plus a successful businessman and someone she has history with, even though Rory doesn’t seem to remember. Now, the sparks fly again for this two, and with nothing to lose Fin will find that even when everything else is grey in her life, her chemistry with Rory is something that makes her feel more alive than she has felt in months.
I´ve been broken and damaged, but I feel none of those things when I´m with him.

The amount of scottish words sometimes had me a little confused at what was happening, but I thought it was gonna be worse, I actually got the hang of it pretty quickly and I enjoyed it through all the book. The writing style was good, there were some editing errors but nothing truly bad. The humor element was important and well done, it made the book experience so much funnier and I enjoyed every banter the characters had, especially Nat´s.
"That means no bringing home any strange men, hmm?"
"But I like them strange"
"I mean it."
"Seriously, June." Natasha huffs. "You spoil all my bloody fun."

The secondary characters, especially Fin´s friends, were great and brought fun to the story. Natasha was hilariously brazen and most times I just shaked my head at the ridiculous stuff she said. Ivy, even though was more serious and down to earth, had some fun in her and I´m really into the next book to find out more of her secrets. Plus June, Nat´s grandmother, what a good characther! I love her for being this sweet lady who didn´t mind giving her own opinion. The banter Ivy and Nat had was always something it made me laugh, and when June joined it was hilarious too.
Rory´s characther was interesting, I liked the cocky guy with the sexy smirk and witty comments, and I also enjoyed of his protective side. His relationship with his twin brother Kit was nice, their banter was fun, and I wish we had seen more of Kit.
"A herd of hipsters?" Ivy screws up her button nose, deep in thought for a second. "Do you think that´s the collective noun? A hashtag of hipsters? A pose, maybe?"
"A trend of hipsters?" I add.

My only complain with this book is that I felt that the last part of the it had the events happen rather fast and I just didn´t feel like they were completely reasonable, at the same time that there´s not much of an explanation for some stuff that happens. On the other hand, I love Fin and Rory´s relationship. Their explosive chemistry was amazing and I enjoyed them together, even though I think their feelings escalated fast at the end.
"Rory, you don´t even know me."
"True," he concedes. "But that seems to have little to do wi´ how I feel. One minute, exactly like you said, I´m trying to avoid you like the plague and the next, I feel like you´ve tattoed your name across my fucking heart."

Overall it was a fun sexy read. It was actually a fast book to read as well and is just a great option if you´re looking for something light but that keeps you interesting at the same time. I´m definitely looking forward the second book and I recommend this one if you´re looking for a sexy, full of fun banter in scottish accent story.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily wrote an honest review.
This book is more like 4.5 star. I have to say this book really held my interest from start to finish. I do have to say that being it was written by an author from another country and written based in another country, it did slow my reading of the book down. But that certainly did not take any of my enjoyment while reading it. There were a few things I had to look up to see what it meant and most of the time just finding out what it meant had me laughing! I had the same thing happen when I read Carnage! But the last half of the book I was used to the "slang" much more so it went a bit faster. But the story line is very well written and it flows very nicely. The characters are very well developed and I felt a real connection to all of them. I definitely look forward to reading more by this author. This is my first book by Ms. Alam but as I said, will not be my last!

I loved these characters. I love those books where you click with not just the main two characters but the others aswell and that's exactly what this book is like. Fin is one of those characters you can picture yourself going to the pub for a glass of wine with. She's smart, funny, sweet and I just loved her. With her crazy and absolutely hilarious (and sometimes vulgar) best friends always having her back, you get a sense of them all having a really strong bond.

Rory is *swoon*. Well he's Scottish, hot, a bit of an ass at times and I just wanted to stick him in a kilt and keep him for myself.

With a story that kept me turning the pages and characters that I already know I'm going to need more from (especially Natasha), I really enjoyed this book.

As the title is One Hot Scot, you might be surprised to know that it is set in Scotland!  This is the first book I've had to read in the Scottish dialect. .. And I REALLY did have to go back over some parts and reread in Scottish accent (although I mostly ended up sounding Irish to myself)
I digress..
The story is sweet and heartbreaking, funny and cute. I have Fin and Rory in my head now, but I could have bashed their heads together at times! Stop running Fin! Listen, talk, feel!

Fin is back in her childhood town in Scotland after her life is suddenly shattered. She is grieving and is living with her best friend Ivy, above Ivy's new hair Salon. Fin had lost her virginity to Rory years ago, but when he sees her again he has no idea who she is.
The two of them have some unbelievable sex and tell themselves that it's just a quick, never-see-each other-again, arrangement.
Fate conspires against that idea.

I had a few moments of shouting at my kindle at these two and I really wanted to know bit more of Fin's husbands story, but I got the gist.
Well worth a read.

Boys and girls, if you haven't read Donna Alam, now is the time to start. One Hot Scot is hilarious, intriguing and sexy.

Fin's life has never been great. High school was awful, kids are so mean. She finally feels like things are good when it all goods to pot. Back in her hometown, last place she wants to be, broke and unemployed. Her friends help pick her up. Fin's interactions with her girlfriends are some of my favorite parts of the book. Ivy, Nat and even ole June are so entertaining. I look forward to the author's stories about these characters. A few of their interactions I screen shot and text to my friends because it sounded like us, and they found it hilarious as well. I enjoy a book so much more when I can relate to the characters.

Rory. The only thing that would have made Rory better if is he wore a kilt and came over to my house and we....had tea. Yeah, where was your mind going. He isn't a kilt wearing Scot, but he is a hot Scot and when he gets excited and that accent gets heavy, I fall in love a little more. Rory, born a Scot but raised in London, has returned to Fin's hometown to work on a project. He is funny and I loved his personality. A bit of dog at times, but hey if I was hot dude with that accent I would probably be dog too.

Overall a great read. All the characters are well developed and interesting and each have a story dying to be told. Watching Fin "get her groove back" was entertaining. The chemistry between Fin and Rory is off the charts and will set your kindle on fire!

Thanks Donna for another great read!! Looking forward to more from these characters.

I received a copy for honest review.

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️big stars for Donna Alam's One Hot Scot - and trust me, this is one smoking hot book. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time, and the hot sexy scenes, grab your boyfriend or your husband and keep him home for the day. The writing is brilliant. The vinacular is Scottish, obviously, so it took a minute and a little dictionary diving at first but so worth it. The characters were real and genuine. The story is compelling and complicated. There are many twists and turns and once you pick it up, you won't want to stop, even for sleep. YOu will cheer for this couple from the first page. There are many smiles and laughs and I couldn't help but smile when they found happiness and it was inspiring as each character went through their own personal growth. You will be caught up in the emotions of this love story. It is a mature story that has some heat in the telling of it. I ABSOLUTELY recommend. I volunteered my review for an ARC copy.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the way the story was told and I loved the characters. The author writes in such a way that's it's easy to read , which I love in a book.

In this book we meet Fin, her friends Ivy and Natasha and of course, June. We also meet the man of the book, Rory.

Fin considers herself broken. Widowed at a young age, living with her friend who feels she needs to start living again and being back in her home town.

Rory, loves woman but seemingly has a lot on his plate. Put these two together and what do you get ? You'll have to read for yourself and find out.

Not a book to be missed. I really enjoyed reading it.

Romance at its best. I didn't know what to expect from the book. But I was happily surprised by it. It is amazing how so many mistakes and misunderstandings can lead a person in the wrong direction. But fate must of wanted it to work out.

She is a young widow and is trying to pull herself together after the scandal that her husband had caused. But going back home and running into the one man she left home because, may of been the best thing to ever happen to her.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

I can't remember a time when it took so long to embrace a book & it's characters, i.e. fifteen chapters & counting. The dialogue was confusing, lacked continuity & was just outright perplexing due to the Scottish dialect & regional slang. Once I got past the fifteen or so chapters, my optimism/interest improved as the two MC's interactions & part of their pasts began to unfold.
Rory & Finola held back far too much of their personal details, one had to wonder how this could move to more than a sexual relationship & for most of the book, it was just that, a sexual relationship.
I did however drool quite a bit over Rory, his more thoughtful, caring characteristics out shone those presented by Finola.
With a few dips in the road & a few twists, I did end up liking the story, even though I had to skim over a few pages from time to time. This was just an ok read for me. Will I proceed to the other books in the series? Hmmm, not sure.

So bad. I struggled to read this to the end. The plot was preposterous, no likeable characters, they're all juvenile and didn't leave me with any warmth even with the hea.
I wanted to love it as on paper it ticked all the right boxes.
Second chance romance
Friends/ humour/ warmth
Hot scot H
Unfortunately it just didn't leave me feeling anything but annoyance. I didn't like FIn and felt no empathy for her situation. I kind of guessed early on what was really going on. HOw stupid was she??? The. The twin thing, so obvious. Silly, silly, girl.
So glad this was on KU, haven't disliked a book this much in ages. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Although I had to re-read passages - due to the Scots dialect and slang - on occasion, this was a sometimes long-winded, but satisfying read. I enjoyed the H, Rory, and to a lesser extent, the h, Fin. (Being in her head was humorous, but also very irritating with her indecisiveness...Ugh)!
The best part of the book was the last 20% or so, when things began to come to a resolution (at last)!

One Hot Scot is the first book in Trouble by Numbers series, and much anticipated new release from Donna Alam. I love all of Ms. Alam’s books- I’m not sure how she does it and it never ceases to amaze me how she is able to up the ante with every story she writes- her books just get better and better, with each new release. The story is extremely well written, the plot is brilliant- it’s sexy, oh so steamy and very witty- with just the right amount of drama, suspense and emotion. I was absolutely captivated from the first sentence, until the very last word.
Finola Hayes (Fin) has had a pretty horrendous time of late. She’s lost her husband, her home, her job and then barely escaped going to jail; she’s shell-shocked- grieving, sad and lost- like she’s in some sort of limbo. Desperately trying to get her life back on track has meant moving back to her home town, a place she detests. But she does have wonderful, supportive friends- who are doing everything they can to help get her back on her feet again.
Manning the front desk of her best friend’s hair salon, on a very wet morning, she never expected to have a very powerful reminder of the past saunter into the salon looking for directions. Even dripping wet he’s still hot and charming, with rippling muscles- a sex god with a panty dropping grin. Fin remembers him in exquisite detail- and the pain he caused. But he doesn’t seem to remember her at all. That’s probably just as well, she surmises.
If there was any justice in this world, he’d be fat. Or bald. Or better still, both!”
Rory Tremaine is a handsome, wealthy property developer and landscape architect; who has an eye for the ladies and a reputation as a bit of a player- he’s not interested in love or commitment, he just wants a good time. He is immediately attracted to Fin, but unaware of their past connection. But he’s pushed for time and ends up leaving the salon without even getting her name.
Her friends want Fin to have a little fun and forget her worries for a little while; finally convince her to join them on a girl’s night out at the local pub. It doesn’t take long to discover that Rory is there as well- the sparks fly and Fin decides that a fling might be just what she needs to help her ‘move on’.
“If I’m going to do this, then all the more reason for it to be him. I know what I’m getting and that’s a one night fling.”
The one night turns into more, as neither of them seems to be able to resist the magnetic pulse that surges between them. But there is a lot more to both of them than meets the eye- things that don’t add up and things that neither of them are saying. Misunderstandings, fear of being hurt and outside forces- seems to be conspiring to keep them apart. Can they learn to trust one another? What happens when their secrets are uncovered? Will Fin be able to leave her past behind, open her heart to Rory and learn to love again? Will they both finally accept how they feel about the other- before it’s too late?
This book is masterfully written, Ms. Alam has a true talent for being able to paint such vivid images with her use of the written word. Her scene setting is quite intricately detailed and wonderfully descriptive. She has a truly witty and somewhat sarcastic sense of humour, which is very apparent throughout this book- making for a very funny and scintillating read.
The characters are so endearing, with fully developed (and in some cases quite zany) personalities. Rory is delicious, such a drop dead gorgeous man- he is so charming a very likeable, even if he’s a bit of a playboy. He’s also very kind and caring. I may have left some drool marks on my kindle, whenever I was reading about him (Note to self: enquire about waterproof cases for Kindle). Fin is beautiful, sweet and smart- but she’s been broken and damaged and she’s feeling very lost. She doesn’t think she deserves to be happy, though- which made me want to both shake her and hug her all at the same time. The secondary characters were wonderful, they bought quite a lot of interest, drama and comic relief to the story- with their antics and banter.
The sex scenes throughout this book were volcanically hot!! I mean- some of THE BEST sex scenes that I’ve ever read. I recommend you have several fresh pairs of panties on hand, or cold showers; you’re going to need them!
The story is told from a duel POV, has a great pace and a smooth flow. I devoured it in a day and have read it another two times since then!
I really, really can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Bravo, Bravissimo- and thank you Ms. Alam!

Do you have any clue how hard it is to get a Scottish romance past me without my Saltire genes baying for uh, no, that's not how we talk or act or how our weather really is blood?
I'm not even a particularly Scottish Scot.
No broad accent - "aye" and "braw" just aren't words I say, I'd rather have my nails pulled off one by one than listen to a fucking bagpipe - our national anthem is a fucking travesty, and haggis is downright bizarre.
Those are fairly stereotyped Scottish things but clichés always stem from the truth.
We do throw a giant log competitively. We do dance around swords to ear-bleed music. We absolutely have no pride in our football team - Jesus Christ, boys, just stop already (I don't even like football and I'm embarrassed!).
All these things are true.
And I couldn't give a fuck about any of them.
But I am Scottish, born and bred (with some Belgian and Irish thrown in). I've lived here all my life (even though I dream of a warmer climate and days of endless sun; hi Australia, you're looking fiiiiiine but could you cool it with the venomous creatures so I can come over and stay awhile? Also, please don't burn me, I have the pallor of a sickly ghost...), I know an authentic Scottish book when I read it.
And goddamn, Donna Alam knows her Scotland.
You have no idea how happy I was reading this. The MC were almost a side-note to the familiarity of the absolutely spot on tiny town culture you're thrown into.
I know that salon. I know that cafe. I know that promiscuous best friend who's got a heart of fucking gold - I went to high school with her, we walked home together, she made me belly laugh more than anyone else, and I miss her.
Everything was so familiar, almost sensory: The torrential downpours, the endless cups of tea, the scent of a fry up after a night of getting stinking drunk (don't do this, it's a lie, you will vomit).
And the boy.
Fuck me, I have known some Rory's in my past (maybe sans muscles - when did everyday men start getting so ripped?)
Cocksure, friendly to everyone, gorgeous fuck me smile, full of swagger but not a total prick.
Yeah, I know that guy but they've never been quite as sweet as Donna Alam's creation.
Christ... he might be a little too confident for my liking but I wouldn't kick him out of bed for making crumbs ← that right there, that's a Scottish-ism.
And then there's Fin.
Lovely, fractured but not broken Fin.
I almost didn't need the backstory with her husband. I liked her well enough, damage and all, without there needing to be unresolved past drama (same goes for Rory's ) but I understand that a little bit of intrigue is always welcome.
But take that away and I just enjoyed the hell out of getting to know these two and watch their relationship take shape.
And the banter.
Is good banter sexier than sex?

You bet your arse it is.
Hopefully that'll continue with the next in the series, Ivy's book.
C'mon Alam, do me proud.

Ps. One thing, however, why the fuck doesn't Natasha have book?
Blasphemy.

It’s been awhile since I've written a review and the reason being, I have been in the worst book funk ever. I have tried to get through various books numerous times over the last few months, but it just wasn’t to be.
Then along came ‘One Hot Scot’ book funk cured. Oh My God I have never laughed so much while reading a book. Timing is everything when telling a joke, right? The punchline needs to be surprising, it’s crucial that your delivery is as good as the end. The Author of this story is not only an exceptionally great writer, but also has the sense of humour comedians could only ever dream off. Her one liners killed me, I have sat and laughed out loud countless times, I have had tears streaming down my face. To say I enjoyed this book is an understatement.

You have to meet the characters in this book. Fin, Rory, Natalie, Ivy, Mac, June, Kit. I loved them all. First let me tell you about sweet, naive, losing the plot Fin. Bless her heart she’s made some bad choices in her life so far. We all make mistakes it’s part of growing up. Fin has a lot to deal with, lucky for her she has some good friends, no scrap that she has some great friends. She’s so pretty, smart, has so much to offer the right man.
When she goes on a girls night out, it’s definitely a night to remember. Natalie ends up taking a very drunken Ivy home, I am actually laughing while writing this review. I swear to God this book is a must read.

Rory aka One Hot Scot is……. Yeah, he’s hot, he’s a little Scottish, he gets my vote. I’m actually sighing while thinking about him. You will know why after you have read this book. He presses all the right buttons, catch my drift? Hung like a horse, Fcuks like a sewing machine on steroids. He can charm the birds from the trees, and any lady out of her knickers. I’m in love.

Natalie nickname Nat is hilarious, she is in a completely different league to any of her friends. League or lives on a different planet, I’m not sure which. I mean she is a little crazy, but I think in a good way. She has certainly made me giggle. I hope she gets her own story.
June is the grandmother of Natalie. She is one of kind and adds a little sparkle to the story.

Mac is the brother of Ivy, these two characters have definitely piked my interested to hear more. Ivy is one hundred percent hiding something from her friends. I’m thinking she got married and hasn’t told anyone. I could be completely wrong, but it does involve a guy that I can guarantee.
Mac is another hottie, has his own business, he’s tall, handsome, has huge biceps and is a very horny guy. Kit is the brother of Rory, we don’t hear too much about him, yet. There is lots to uncover though, so watch this space. You know what they say, “It’s the quiet ones that you have to look out for”.

“Live, Laugh, Love” another quote that pretty much sums up this entire story. I can’t believe I was able to not give any spoilers out. I am bursting at the seams to chat to someone about this book. Go download you won’t be disappointed. Oh! And it’s only 99cents.

Thank you so much Author Donna Alam for writing such an epic story and bringing back the world of countless possibilities.

The elusive blue… 5+ stars!!!!!

I devoured this book. It’s the reason for my book hangover and a story I will not soon forget. I love how Ms. Alam steadily unfolds Fin’s backstory, how she is left hurt, angry and dazed over the loss of her husband. Now a young widow of 25, she finds herself back in a small town in Scotland where she grew up. Remembrance of a tender time come flooding back to her special memories of a young man. A man whom she offered her innocence and would forever change her heart.

This is Fin Hayes and Rory Tremaine’s story. It was more than a one-night stand five long year ago for Fin, it meant giving her body and heart to Rory. And even after the next day when she assumes a betrayal, she never forgot him. But their lives would soon intersect. At a time when her life seems out of control, she feels the spark of interest when they meet again. And Rory sees a familiar face in Fin but doesn’t remember her. Their path to reconnection is strewn with lots of hurdles on both sides, and this story just takes a life of its own. Although, I was not expecting that huge turn towards the end, my heart was hurting for these two lovers. Hang on, the journey is worth it and you’ll find yourself reading late into the night for Fin and Rory’s HEA.

I love these two characters: Rory is dark, handsome, tattooed with rippling muscles, and oozes sex appeal. He’s a gentleman, quick with a smile, and dirty words are a part of his foreplay. Oh yeah, he’s very imaginative! He’s one hot Scot that is every woman’s sexy dream, but with that territory comes a bit of trouble in the form of a stalkerish wanna-be girlfriend, Beth. I think Rory has become my next book boyfriend. *g* Fin is stunning, impulsive, and loyal to a fault. Though she is heartbroken and feeling damaged, her wonderfully funny BFFs, Ivy and Natasha, try to help bolster her ego with their humorous antics. That scene at the pub with the girlfriends where they meet Rory is laugh-out-loud hilarious.

One Hot Scot is a sexy, sweet, second-chance-at-love story filled with humor, flawed characters, and great secondary characters that bring depth to a satisfying read. It has everything I look for in a romance with a solid plot, scintillating dialogue and all the feels. It’s equal parts story and steamy goodness, and a book I highly recommend to all fans of romance. Great job, Ms. Alam.

One Hot Scot is the first book in the Trouble By Number series and I look forward to Ivy’s story next.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

5 hilariously steaming hot stars

This book was on one hand hilarious but on the other hand panties melting. I mean more like really steaming hot.
The story itself was interesting, very well written, spiced with plenty of Scottish burr and the right amount of twists. And have I said hilarious? Yes....I was laughing quite a lot.

Fin has luxurious life until her husband dies and she not only finds out about all the debts he caused but also about his cheating. After her grieve and blaming herself she decides to start living and there he is ...Rory the one and only one night stand she's thought she will never see again. He is sight for sore eyes, if that's possible he's got even more handsome with the years. The attraction is undeniable. Although it's not good idea she's pulled to him like a moth to the flame.

Rory is a ladies man. He doesn't want commitment and after his last encounter, he's careful though mesmerised by Fin's beauty, her intelligence and sass. They land together in his cottage spending the night by steaming, off the charts, sex. But when he wakes up and she's gone, he is slightly disappointed. He could think of more, of all the possibilities to discover with her.

When they meet again, they can't leave hands from one another but both of them telling lies about their lives isn't helping. What would they do when the truth comes to the surface?

Can forgiveness and love help them to move on?

Get this amazing book and find out for yourself.

Fin has had a horrible time trying to get over the sudden death of her husband, Marcus. While she wasn’t sure how she felt about him anymore after years of being treated like an object, the way in which he died still haunts her. All the lies, secrets and betrayal has left her feeling like a shell of a woman so she escaped back home to Scotland to stay with her best friend Ivy while she tries to but her life back together. Ivy just opened a new salon and Fin is helping her with desk work one day when Rory walks in the door to the salon looking for directions. Fin immediately recognizes him from years before when he took her virginity but she hasn’t seen him since then and he doesn’t realize who Fin is. Rory is in town to work on a house on the island that is being converted into a hotel but he keeps his secrets and Fin also keeps hers. After running into him at a pub one night, they can’t keep their hands off one another. Fin decides to just keep it light and makes it only about sex. Yet after a few amazing nights together, Rory has other plans in mind. Can Fin manage to keep her secrets while slowly opening her heart to Rory? Can Rory keep his philandering ways at bay and get Fin to open up? And what will happen when the truth comes out?? I really loved Fin as a character! She is damaged but trying to move on in her own way and trying to do what is best for her. While her friends and people of the town don’t agree with her timing, they also don’t all know the whole story behind her crazy marriage and why it is so easy for her to move on. I won’t give away too many details, but Fin makes one hell of a leading lady! Rory, to start, would not be the kind of man I would want to see a leading lady fall for, but Fin makes Rory a better man and makes him want more for himself than he ever thought he could. They help each other through some heavy stuff and come out better for it. Overall, this really was a great read and I can’t wait to see what Donna Alam comes up with for the next book in the Trouble by Numbers series! Hopefully we get to find out what is really going on with Ivy! I give “One Hot Scot” five well deserved stars!

One Hot Scot is a second chance novel by Donna Alam

Fin’s life sucks, he husbands has just died, well presumed dead after going missing at sea, she has lost her job, her life style she is used to, she has just missed out on jail time due to a scam her dead husband did, and to top it all she has had to move back to the one place she has hated her whole life, Home! Now living with her best friend, she must find her way out of her funk and simply move on with life, something she is to depressed about doing, until a face she thought she would never see again walked into her new work place.

Rory hated his father after the way he treated him and his bother both when he was alive and dead. After having to come back to Scotland to renovate his dead fathers home, he was wanted to be in and out within a day or two, that is until he sees this beautiful vision before him. Starting to get feelings for Fin all he must do is persuade her that she feels the same, that this is more than just sex for them.

Both holding secrets against each other, but ones bigger than the other, will it all come crashing down around them? Will Fin move on? Will life finally look bright for both?

Donna Alam has produced a fine book here that I think I could read many times without getting bored. We get a great picture of both Fin’s and Rory’s life which I love, and you feel the sense of friendship between Fin and friends. Only down side for me was because it was set in Scotland I felt a bit like “what are they saying? What does that Scottish expression mean?” but slowly though out the book you pick up on it and start to read them in your head with a thick Scottish accent. Loved the whole story, and the secrets, it was well written and thought of book. Hope there is more, and she makes a bit of a series out of it as I am not ready to let Fin and Rory go just yet. Definite 5 stars from me!

This was a steamy and hilarious second chance romance. The witty (and often amusingly vulgar) banter between the characters really made the book. As another reviewer mentioned, since the author is from and wrote the story based in another country, some of the slang and dialogue did confuse me a bit. As I kept reading it got easier, but initially, it did slow me down a bit trying to figure out what was being said.

I'm usually not a fan of the manwhore hero, but Rory did win me over in the end. I did find his change of heart a little out of character, but given his history and connection with Fin, it wasn't wholly unbelievable. He had some swoony as well as laugh out loud dialogue and I really loved his POV chapters. I actually wished that there had been more, but I understand this book was more about Fin's journey. I respected Rory's honesty and that when it counted, he came clean and put all his cards on the table. I actually didn't immediately love Fin, but could understand and sympathize with her situation and confusion. What really worked though was the off the charts chemistry between Rory and Fin. Their scenes were blazing hot and I thought really well done (not over the top, but plenty sexy!)

I actually enjoyed the secondary characters in this book, just as much as Fin and Rory. Fin has an amazing girlfriend support system (#squadgoals) and they really help pull her through this difficult time. Nat especially had some awesome dialogue and really didn't pull any punches. She provided some much needed comic relief when things got a little heavy. I'm also very intrigued by Ivy's story and am looking forward to reading more. The ending felt a little rushed, since the "conflict" came pretty late in the book, but the epilogue more than made up for it and left me grinning ear to ear.

This book. I had a lot of fun reading it. There was a bit of a language barrier but after a few chapters I was reading like a pro. It gave the feeling of being on vacation without leaving my couch. I really enjoyed living in Fin's eyes. She was kick@ss. I really enjoyed Mr. Tall dark and f*** me himself Rory. His accent made him twice as attractive. This is an amazing book and I cannot wait to read more from Donna Alam!
This is a must read / one click read for me.
Here are some of my favorite one liners.

"In their family they don't believe in hiding crazy. Nope, they poor it a cuppa and tell it to pull up a chair."
"It's bloody ironic, really. I love women; that's no lie, but I've never been interested in the whole package deal, preferring my women in parts. Sounds slightly serial killer-ish , but isn't at all."
"Relationships begin and end all the time and no one truly knows what goes on behind doors between people, especially looking in."
"My name on her lips is more roar than Rory,.."
I just loved this book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. And this is my honest opinion of One Hot Scot.
@rse bandit :) < laugh out loud funny. Gives you all the feels. More happy than sad though :)

Fin is newly single and trying to figure her life out. I couldn't get into this book, put it down a lot, forgot about and couldn't wait to finish it. There is a lot of Fin interacting with her friends and no development on the relationship between Fin and Rory until like 60%. I didn't feel I knew the character and they behaved like children most of the time. Rory acted strangely stalkerish after sleeping with Fin. He let himself into her house when she wasn't there, smelled her pillow and dug around in her underwear drawer. Creepy. I didn't see the characters growing or developing. Silly past misunderstanding was cleared up with the typical "oh it was my twin" troupe. I was bored he entire time.

I have read a ton of romance, but nothing with quite the grab of this book! The chemistry between Rory and Fin is palpable, the banter between her and her band of crazy galpals hilarious, and the uniqueness of the story refreshing, but it's also the way Donna develops her characters so beautifully and does not let these two reach their HEA without some hard work and genuine angst! Aw! Who am I really kidding, its Rory's Scottish brogue that really won me over! It's only a shame I can't convince this author to release this as an audiobook for a true panty melting experience.
Wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!

This book ended up being really hard for me to read cause I just did not have it in me to keep looking up the Scottish slang that was every other word in the book, this was a major turn off for me. For someone who is not familiar with Scotish words this may be a deal breaker for you, The other thing was the H. He was an arse. Seriously some of the things that came out of his mouth.SMH.. if some guy ever talked to me like that and I had just met him in a bar. I think he would have a drink on his head. But not our h.. She was turned on. Whatever, guess this book was just not meant to be,

One Hot Scot by Donna Alam a hot five-star read. This is the first book in the Trouble by Numbers series, and is a second chance novel. Featuring one very hot scot called Rory Tremaine he is ripped, handsome, rich and a lady killer of epic proportions, he is also one half of a set of twins who couldn’t be more different they may run a business together and look alike but that’s where the similarities end. They have very different tastes, in most everything. They have taken on a project in the town they spent their summers growing up renovating the house that their sperm donor dad left to charity. Rory isn’t looking for anything, other than getting the hotel up and running and getting back to London and his life.
Finola Rosalie Hayes or Fin to most everyone has 99 problems, she is back in the place she didn’t ever want to return to, but when your husband leaves you penniless and alone and running from the country you live in for fear of going to jail, your options are limited and your best friends spare room seems like a great place to hide out and take stock. Just as she is getting somethings organised in walks problem number 100, soaking wet and looking hot to trot. With a butt that could crack walnuts, the guy who took her virginity and started her on the path she is on now. Que some great situations and hilarious stories, and characters that you need in your life. Like June the grandma of one of the characters that has such great one liners as “’My George was a wee bit adventurous.’ June’s sleepy vice floats up from the fireside chair. ‘He was even known to drop anchor in poo bay from time to time’”
Donna Alam writes hot and funny, I have loved everything she has written, and can’t wait for the next book in the series. I can’t wait to see more of these characters and see what will happen next.

Sexy Scots with wicked intentions . . .

Rory had no idea that his day was going to go down the path that it did when he walked in to a salon that had something more than he every expected. Fin. She never expected to see the one man that captured her heart years ago. She never expected to see the man that took her virginity. Feeling wronged she leaves home never wanting to be anything like her mom. Life has come full circe finding Fin back home. The was one hot, sexy ride back home.
