Gibil, alone and anxiously surviving the first steps of his self-imposed exile in the Human Realm learns that humans have far greater depth to them than his kin in the Demon Realm had led him to believe. Learning their language, watching them interact, and finally testing his own disguise by living among them on a farm between Riverton and the Gate, Gibil learns that there may be far more to himself as well.
Katherine Kim is a lifelong lover of fantasy. She started early, being read Tolkien as bedtime stories, which honestly explains a lot. More recently she’s been drawn to more urban fantasy stories through both books and television, and reading continues to be a passion. She lives and writes in Tokyo, with her family, a number of miniature giant robots, and not nearly enough coffee...
Gibil, a.k.a. Michael, is learning to be human. Big John and Elizabeth, brother and sister, take him in to help on their farm. He experiences many feelings which are foreign to him. But, by the end of the story, he seems to be on the verge of fitting in.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.
I received a copy of this book as a gift. This is my honest review.
