Mindy is the youngest of six children and grew up in San Diego, California. After graduating from Brigham Young University-Idaho, she discovered her passion for reading and writing. Mindy lives in Summerville, South Carolina with her husband and daughter.
She is the author of the Faylinn novels and the Willowhaven series; as well as the standalones, Stain and The Day That Saved Us. Mindy is also the co-author of the Paper Planes series and the Backroads Duet, which was co-written with Michele G. Miller as Mindy Michele.
I am giving this story five stars because it is well deserved. The characters alone are memorable. Book Three dived right into a whole other story. So much action and drama. Again Ms Hayes made me cry. I wanted to hate certain characters but I could not do it. I am hoping a book four will come soon. I want to continue the storyline. I want a character to have a hea. 😉
I have to say I will forever love this series and these characters. Mindy has done it again! I was skeptical of a few things at first, but dang if she didn't turn my skepticism into love and hope! And can I just say I DID NOT see THAT coming! I mean wow. Love the way she brought it all together and made me love, already loved, characters even more!
I had not even realized how much I missed Faylinn till I picked up this book. I was immediately enveloped in the faery world again. The scenery, the characters, the fae politics... everything was familiar, but not repetitious. While the characters are the same, the focus is shifted, and we get to see the aftermath of the war. I love, love, love Sarai! She is so kind, and impressively courageous. I expected her to be more passive based on what I knew of her personality, but she surprised me in the best way. She stands up for herself and her kingdom, and makes the tough decisions with rationality and grace. I just love her so much! I also swooned over Prince Marcus, laughed at Cameron and Lia being stuck together, and generally just loved catching up with these characters I fell in love with in Kaleidoscope. The writing is just as beautiful and funny as always, and nothing is ever quite what you expect it to be. I was hooked right away, and it reeled me in until the end! (Is that... is that right? I don't fish. I dint know why I chose a fishing metaphor. But you get it: Glimmer=Great
This was a nice read but it was maybe a bit too predictable for my taste. If this book is set to close out the series it did an excellent job (I'm not sure if Ms Hayes will be writing a fifth instalment).
After the war the Royals are picking up the pieces of their broken kingdoms and families. Calliope is working reinstate peace between the kingdoms when a murder in mysterious circumstances creates more questions than it provides answers.
Sarai is blossoming in her role as Queen and her budding relationship with the Prince of Oraelia had me wondering if she would finally get the chance to move beyond the fate of her family and find happiness. Cameron and Lia also make an appearance back in Faylinn and their story was kinda cute.
I would highly recommend this series. I have read all four books written so far in this series in less than two days. I went from a reader who truly hated and refused to read any books on Fae to someone who couldn't put down a book in this series. The characters are really strong and well developed. The author took such care in creating them with strong three dimensional qualities that readers could relate too. I really can't wait to see what the author can come up with in the lives of some of the other characters in future books. You can rest assure I will be stalking more books in this series in the future.
Okay, so the book was okay, but it ended in this really REALLY frustrating way. I understand it's a novella, but I hated the ending SO MUCH that I can only give it two stars. Like for reals, Mindy Hayes. Not to mention it was predictable. Sorry, didn't like it at all.
