And here I forget to post a review once again... I really enjoyed this intro to the Tanner Hollow series of suspense novellas. All sorts of old family drama plays into this one, from secrets to attempted murder! How can she escape with her life, and who hates her that much? The ghosts in this family's closet aren't for the faint of heart.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to finishing this series.
The self-publishing debut for Lynette Eason should be a huge success. Lethal Homecoming is a charming romantic suspense story that features a complex storyline, family dynamics, and a few surprises. I enjoyed this book over one weekend.
I wasn't sure about the family dynamics at first, but I cannot say why without giving anything away. However, I will say that Lynette wrapped things up beautifully and in a way that felt realistic.
The Tanner Hollow series is one I look forward to following from this novella to the final book, whatever that might be. It's begun with a bang, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
Lethal Homecoming is a novella written by Lynette Eason. This short-story is still as action packed and as full of suspense as the rest of her novels. When you see the name, Eason, attached to a piece of literature- you know that you are in for a rocky ride.
Strap yourself in and ride around the steep mountain rode with Callie Ainsworth as she returns back home for the first time in ten years. Afraid of what she might find, she has butterflies in her stomach as she approaches her childhood home that was ruined by her wicked step-father. Nolan Tanner has made his life in Tanner Hollow as a police officer, constantly missing the love of his life Callie Ainsworth, unaware that the recent death of one of her family members will be bring her back home. Does he have the training and capabilities to keep her safe?
Dive into this short, fast-paced novella and learn that sometimes a shut and closed case can be anything but that. Will the recently deceased open old cases? Can someone that Callie trusts be the one behind the murders?

A suspense novella that kept my attention from start to finish with several twists and turns. This is fast paced from start to finish with just a touch of romance. Callie was a good heroine and I was happy to see her realize that she was loved and valued. I wished it had been longer so there could have been more depth to the characters and could have gotten to know them better particularly Callie and Nathan. Definitely lots of family dynamics in this particular book.
Long time Lynette Eason was my very favorite Christian romantic suspense author and I knew it didn't matter which book I pick, I'll like it. Unfortunatelly it's the second series I started now I wasn't very fond of. I'm not sure if it's because both were rather short and it's not her strength, my taste changed or her style changed.
I liked the main characters despite them being rather flat and showed not much development. The step-family appeared more like an afterthought than real part of the story and the female character's sister clueless and unlikable. The surprised in the plot and the male main character's brother Jason (a great even if mostly background character) were the only parts that saved this book. Since Jason's the main character of the next book in series I'm willing to give it a try but only if I get this book on sale. After this dissapointing start of the series I'm not willing to pay the full prize in case I end up dissapointed again :-(
Callie returns home for her step-father's funeral after fleeing six years earlier because of his abuse. The danger isn't over, however, and before she even reaches her mom's house someone tries to kill her. This is a short book with fast paced twists and turns that kept my attention.
I can't even say how bad this is because of the complete lack of real life sense. Example one: a cop sees his former love who shows up screaming because she's just been run off the road and strangled, and the attacker runs away.
Does he question her? Is there any sort of immediate investigation? Does her family react with concern? No. He tells her a "crucial plot point" and leaves. LEAVES.
I'm willing to overlook things in a book but this one goes beyond reason.
This is the first Lynette Eason's book I've read and I honestly thought it was fascinating. It was filled with high intense suspenful excitement and lots of heart pounding moments for Callie, while someone was trying to murder her. Excellent characters designed with in-depth background history.
I would highly recommend this short novella and I am really interested and looking forward to reading more of Ms. Eason book, in the very near future. 😮😯🤔😟😱
Callie Ainsworth returns home for the funeral of her stepdad only to be attacked by an unidentified assailant a few minutes before arriving. Nolan Tanner rescues Callie from her assailant. He's the local police officer who happens to still be in love with Callie. As Nolan investigates Callie's attacker, he also discovers that there are suspicious circumstances surrounding her stepdad's death.
Are the two incidents linked? Is Callie in danger? Will her assailant return and succeed this time? Can Nolan stop the killer before they get to Callie again? Is there a future for Nolan and Callie?
Nolan is feverish in attempting to solve these questions and what ensues is a fast paced story that ends before you've even warmed up.
Unfortunately, the pace and it's brevity make it difficult to warm to any of the characters. And so I ended the 90 minute read not feeling invested in the story and not all that interested in the outcome. I think if it had been another 50 or so pages, Eason could have established a little more depth to the story and, in particular, given Callie greater exposure which would have enabled me to get more invested in her.
Even though this story didn't really grab me it won't stop me reading other Eason stories in the future.
Lethal Homecoming by Lynette Eason hooked me right into the characters' lives. It grabbed me from the start. The writing is well-done. Readers will find it action-packed, romantic, and deadly. The suspense kept getting better and better with every page! This is one romantic suspense novel that made me laugh and cry along with the protagonists.
Nolan Tanner made for a great hero. He has this confidence that was charming and heavily relied on by the heroine during times of danger. His quick mind was amazing. Nolan also has a big heart of gold. Especially, where Kallie is concerned.
Kallie Ainsworth has a had a lot of ups and downs in her life. Losing her biological father only to have her mother marry a monster of a man. That same monster who tormented her physically and mentally. Her and her family were under a lot of pressure. Then, add in two deaths and a loose killer in their circle and everything was insane. Kallie still has feelings for Nolan.
In this novella, there are big topics of abuse, rape, murder, and God. I loved reading it. Lynette Eason knew how to draw my attention and how to keep it.
I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.
Very fast paced and action packed novella. Callie is driving home for her step-father, Rick’s, funeral. She is almost there when she is hit from behind and almost forced off the road into a ravine. She has been gone for six years and knows she is not in Rick’s will so who would want to hurt her? When she arrives at her childhood home she discovers her old boyfriend, Nolan. He is now a detective and has just told her family that Rick’s death is suspicious. And Rick’s business partner and secretary are missing. what could all this mean? How do these things fit together and is Callie’s Mother harboring yet another secret? Can they unravel this puzzle or are there more mysterious pieces yet to come! You won’t be disappointed in this latest offering by Lynnette Eason, if you enjoyed her other books.
Six years ago Kallie Ainsworth left her home without any explanation. Now she's returning when she receives word that her stepfather has died. But the minute she returns home someone attempts to run her off the run. After that there are more attempts on her life. She has no idea why anyone wants her dead.
Nolan Tanner never got over Kallie Ainsworth's sudden, unexplained departure. But when he comes to her rescue he realizes he still has feelings for her. Nolan will finally get an explanation from Kallie about why she left so suddenly. Kallie will also learn about a well kept secret that may lead to answers as to why anyone would want to kill her. Once the threat is gone can Kallie and Nolan pick up where they left off?
Fazit: kleiner feiner Lese-Quickie.
I have read Lynette Eason's books for a long time, everytime a new comes out, I latch on to it. Although, I prefer full length book, Lethal Homecoming was edge of your seat reading. Nolan saves Callie, his high school sweetheart, from several attempted murders, the ending Never saw that coming. If you want a quick and exciting "who dun it", This is a great book to read. Can't wait for Jason's story!
I read Lethal Homecoming as part of the Targeted for Danger collection. I really enjoyed this suspenseful tale. It was hard to know who exactly wanted Callie dead. I thought I knew, but I didn't have everything quite figured out. Made for an exciting read!
I liked the characters and was happy for Callie and Nolan to perhaps get a chance at a happily ever after the second time around. Great for fans of romantic suspense.
This novella immediately hooks you in and keeps you reading and guessing what will happen next. There were unexpected twists and more of a mystery than I thought when it came to figuring out who our villain was. I enjoyed the action and mystery elements, combined with a touch of romance. I'm thinking I need to read the next one now!
Yikes. This wasn’t a favorite. A little too much going on for a novella for my taste. A lot of family secrets come to light and a plot that wasn’t developed enough for me to invest in. There were several danger filled moments that will surprise the reader so I definitely felt as though it delivered in the suspense factor.
This was a very satisfying read. The characters were well drawn and the storyline had a lot of depth. And, I had no clue who the perpetrator was until the climax. Well done!
Lynette Eason has a great gift in getting you hooked on a story always at the first page. This is a delightful novella with a lot going on in just a brief story, you already ate intrigued by what's happening in Tanner Hollow and ready for more.
This was the first Lynette Eason book I've read that didn't have oodles of sentence fragments. What a refreshing change! There was plenty of suspense in such a short book, and the story was interesting.
This was surprisingly good considering its short length. I’m not usually a fan of short books since it’s harder to have good character and plot development. But Lynette Eason has done a fine job of it.
This story was pretty good, but there were a couple of explanations that didn't make sense to me.. It has to be difficult to to write a mystery novel. I would recommend this to a friend.
I enjoyed this book. The writing keeps the story flowing. It is full of suspense and interesting characters with a bit of romance sprinkled in. I will read more by this author.
Book was short but it quickly got my interest when the book started out with the heroine being in danger. There was romance in the story that developed quickly but was believeable due to the fact that the couple had been involved previously. The heroine's life was threatened and I was surprised at who the person was. There were some twists in the book which also kept the story interesting
Lethal Homecoming by Lynette Eason is a great novella that's full of action, suspense and danger. It's just the right size for a quick read. I can't wait to move on to Lethal Conspiracy (Tanner Hollow Book 2).
