It Just Might Take a Christmas Miracle…

All She Wants for Christmas
(The Kent Brothers Book One)

Country singer Riley Jensen would never have returned to her small Missouri hometown if her publicist hadn’t come up with the scheme to tape a Christmas special there. So she never would have known that the man who broke her heart at eighteen was now a widower with a seven-year-old daughter. Riley has ten years of angst-filled hit songs and Grammy Awards to prove she doesn’t need Ethan Kent. But suddenly, she can’t help thinking of all she gave up by running away…

A Rare Gift (The Kent Brothers Book Two)

With a disastrous marriage behind him, Wyatt Kent has no interest in getting involved with any woman, let alone his ex-wife’s younger sister. But when Calliope Andrews hires him to build an addition onto her day care center, Wyatt can’t help but notice her. But it’s going to take a Christmas miracle for Wyatt to put his trust in love a second time.

The Best Thing (The Kent Brothers Book Three)

A year ago, Tori let her guard down and Brody Kent slipped right in, planting one hot, unforgettable kiss on her in a dark corner at the company Christmas party. Though the kiss surpassed her wildest dreams, she can’t let it happen again—Brody’s got a reputation for loving and leaving. And he’ll have to get creative if he wants to convince Tori that he’s a changed man.

DNF at 38%

I rated All She Wants For Christmas a 2.5 rounded stars - that was generous. See my review for All She Wants for Christmas. Thinking that the author needed to warm up a little in the first book of an anthology, I started book 2 about Wyatt. I was intrigued by Wyatt in Book 1. However, the no-depth for angsty tropes by this author is too slow and torturous, so I DNF'd A Rare Gift. I won't continue and finish this Trilogy bundle.

All She Wants for Christmas:
(I read this in a previous year, so just copy and pasting my review plus one minor edit)
3.5 stars -- Cute little read. Reminded me of a Harlequin book, maybe a Superromance? I know they're unrealistic, but I enjoy the famous person loves normal person books, and the unfinished business from teenage past love stories. So this one fit that bill. Was there anything particularly remarkable and unique to this one? Probably not. But I'm not too fussy. I liked Ethan's family (except Wyatt), and Zoe wasn't too annoying as a kid. Ringing endorsement eh? Maybe I should have rounded down, but now I'm too lazy, and I like Christmas books so whatever...

ON REREAD: rounded down. It just didn't capture me as much as the first time....

A Rare Gift:
3 stars -- Classic Harlequin-esque romance -- I actually enjoyed how forthright and confident Calliope was. I had her pegged in a certain character stereotype, and she surprised me at every turn. Wyatt had his good moments, though I'm not a huge fan of the taciturn and grumpy guy in general. My major issue with the book was the ending -- it felt HUGELY rushed and just read very fast for me (particularly the Cassandra/Wyatt resolution). And then it was just bam bam bam, ending. So it lost me there. Ah well.

The Best Thing:
2.5 stars -- definitely my least favourite of the 3 novellas of the Kent Brothers. It felt like it jumped into the story real quick, and I was left feeling a bit of disbelief at the characters -- they really went 10 months with a mean Tori?? It took them that long to say "enough is enough"?? So it started me off on the wrong foot. Then I wasn't really impressed with Tori herself, and her reasoning for behaving the way she was with everyone else. Brody I get, but what did everyone else do to deserve her apparent wrath?

And then they got together and some of the lines felt cheesy to me...and yes, I know, it's a Christmas novella. But I just found myself going "really?" a few more times than I would like.

And then it wrapped up quickly too. I don't know what to say, I just wasn't feeling this one...

So all in all the trilogy was just ok for me. Had some heartwarming moments, but the novellas got less and less interesting as we went down the line. :(

Setting: Deer Lake, MO Contemporary
Genre: Romance

All She Wants for Christmas
Country star Riley Jensen returns to the small town from which she had fled 10 years earlier after being betrayed by her boyfriend and best friend. She's there at the Christmas holiday to tape a biography piece. "She thought the whole thing was ridiculous. She was still single, had no kids, hadn't been on drugs, didn't hang out at the clubs and party, and spent most of the year on the road." She's hoping to not run into said ex boyfriend or ex best friend in town. But.... she is immediately fan-girled by a seven year old who turns out to be the daughter of Ethan Kent and Amanda Richfield, who had obviously married. She's still attracted to Ethan, who was in the crowd with his daughter. Turns out Amanda died 4 years previous. There's a lot of emotional crap Riley and Ethan have to go through to get to their HEA.

A Rare Gift
The three Kent brothers, Ethan, Wyatt, and Brody run a construction firm. In this novella, which starts the winter after the end of Ethan and Riley's story, Wyatt has to manage the construction of an addition to a daycare center. A daycare center owned by the younger sister of his ex wife, Cassandra. The divorce left him bitter and disillusioned, and distrustful of women in general. Despite the fact that Calliope is the polar opposite, he has specific trust issues with her. Even though they are attracted, he is just waiting for her to betray him. And she just might have to, then see if he can get past it.

The Best Thing
Brody, the youngest of the Kent brothers, is a manwhore. He has a reputation of being a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy. Tori was the mouthy, ascerbic office manager at Kent Brothers Construction, but at the end of A Rare Gift, Brody was spotted giving her a hot and heavy kiss at the company Christmas party, and since then she has been cold and downright mean to all 3 of the Kents. Ethan and Wyatt tell Brody he has to "fix" her, since it's his fault Tori has "turned into a fire-breathing she-dragon." But that whole kiss incident the previous year was a two-way street and Brody doesn't understand why Tori won't give in to their mutual attraction. But Tori knows Brody's reputation, and she doesn't want to be one of the women he jumps in and immediately out of bed with. Besides, she loves her job and can't see staying on after giving in to her urges vis á vis Brody. But give in she does, just waiting to get dumped. Brody, for his part, doesn't know what Tori is doing to him.

These 3 novellas were previously published in holiday anthologies in consecutive years. I appreciate the sense of time passing. So often, romantic trilogies are set in the same time frame, so the action seems compressed. That these were all set around Christmas and published in different years. I also appreciate that, at least in the case of Wyatt and Brody, the I-love-yous happened after the development of a relationship over the course of a couple of months. I dislike insta-love, and even Ethan and Riley's relationship was a rekindling, rather than instant attraction acted on instantly. All 3 of the stories are well-written, and all 6 0f the protagonists are characters with depth. The men, especially, are multi-faceted because they play supporting roles in each other's stories.

This is a good collection to accompany your holiday season, or just any time you want to read a feel-good story with snow.

An entertaining and easy read. Writing style and characters reminded me of Jill Shalvis.

In this set I liked 2 out of 3 books 📚. ALL SHE WANTS FOR CHRISTMAS 🎅🎄🎁: I loved ❤how Riley & Ethan were able to come to terms with the past. I love ❤ how Riley got the family 👪 she wanted & Ethan got the woman he loved. I really enjoyed this nice Christmas 🎅🎄🎁 romance 💏 well done Mrs Burton. A RARE GIFT 🎁: I love ❤ Jaci Burton books 📚 but this one was my least favorite. I thought Calliope was kind of desperate & pushing Wyatt to be with her. I also thought Calliope didn't care or respect what Wyatt & her sister had. It didn't feel like a Christmas 🎅🎄🎁 story 📖 to me either. All She Wants For Christmas 🎅🎄🎁 is much better than this one THE BEST THING: The book took me 3 hours to read. Tori & Brody made a cute couple. At times in the story Tori's attitude got on my nerves. I love ❤ Ms. Burton's books📚, but this story 📖 was just okay. All She Wants For Christmas 🎅🎄🎁 was my favorite book to read in this series.

Need A Little Christmas?

KentBros

This collection of stories were first presented in Carina Press anthologies, so its super nice to have them all together here.

The setting is a small town in Missouri near the Ozarks, and the series takes us from the famous to the infamous, as the three brothers careen into their HEAs.

They are short, but complete. Enjoy.

Let me start by saying I LOVE Jaci Burton's books. The Kent Brothers Trilogy was awesome. Each novella in the book focuses on one of the Kent brothers. Three close brothers who have their own construction company.

In All She Wants for Christmas is Ethan Kent whose love for country singer Riley Jensen is not quite as dead as he thought it was.

In A Rare Gift we find Wyatt Kent who has confirmed himself to be single and loveless for the rest of his life. Then when he is hired by his ex-wife's sister to build an addition his confirmed bachelor hood is in question.

In The Best Thing there is Brody Kent whose reputation as a manwhore precedes him. Tori is the office manager for the brothers construction company. The two of them really dance around each other. Brody wants more but Tori can't get past his reputation of love'em and leave'em.

These are really great, hot, funny love stories but there are also moments when you need the tissues beside you. Never hesitate to read one of Jaci Burton's books.

I’ve always been a fan of Jaci Burton and I was looking forward to reading this trilogy. Even though it is a reprint, it is new to me and reading these holiday novellas a week before Christmas was perfect.
All three of these stories included rugged, hunky alpha men – Jaci Burton does know how to write a good hero! What surprised me was how different the heroines were from each other. She couldn’t have written three more opposite women if she’d tried. I liked it. While there was nothing extraordinary about any of these novellas, I enjoyed the Kent brothers’ stories.

Another good trilogy - love how the stories are intermingled. The brothers run a family business and support each other in work and play. They don't pull any punches and keep each other humble and honest. Their parents are down to earth-one of my favorite scenes was from book 3 when Stacey has a heart to heart with Brody about his romantic past. Great books and now to find something else of Jaci's to read!

This is my first Jaci read was I really enjoyed it. I love Christmas and sweet stories. These books covered both. The characters are great and the stories are well written. They were not so sappy you wanted to throw up. They were normally flawed people. Four stars!

Jaci Burton writes fabulous stories and here are three of them. I think they've been previously released but this is all of them in one place. Loved all three. Hot, sexy men. Real women who have brains and careers. Great combo.

Cute.

This trilogy of stories is adorable. The Kent brothers are all construction workers that wind up falling in love. I gave this series 4 stars only because I wish these books were longer.

The Kent Brothers Triology is a fabulous series by Jaci Burton. All three of these storylines were solid and well thought out. Loved all the characters and their chemistry. Also loved that the author made each of their engagements around Christmas.

Definitely not what I've come to expect from Jaci Burton. Maybe these were written early on in her career? While they weren't horrible, there was nothing that really stood out in any of them.
