DW writing Stiles/Chris/Peter what's not to like?
Not as much tension as her other stories I think she took it easy on us readers due to Christmas though true to form there were a few nasty cliff-hangers to see the season along.
The plot almost took a back step to the building relationship, I think perhaps because the big story was Isaac and Stiles -though put through plenty- was secondary to that. While there is plot and lots of feels attached, my lasting impression is more of the building relationship.
Interesting to see how the characters came together; Peter arrogant yet softer underneath and Chris far meeker but proving himself the true bad-arse when it's called for. And Stiles, fierce and strong. They compliment each other drawing out different things and needing different things. It works. And the Sheriff is the best.

While Stetopher is not a pairing I usually gravitate to, once again DW just floors with how talented she is, especially in this universe.
I loved how Stiles is so vulnerable in the beginning but learns just how strong he can be by the end. DW perfectly captured how Chris is weak in some ways at first, but eventually finds his strength. And I absolutely loved how Peter is irreverent but lends his strength to both men in the ways they most need it.
It was lovely, just...entertaining and sweet and a little hot too.
The only thing I wish we had gotten more of is closure with Kate.

At the lowest point of Stiles’s life, Chris and Peter were the best thing that could have happened to him. And now, all this time later, they still are.
That’s pretty amazing.
The only thing I wish we had gotten more of is closure with Kate.

(I will try not to spoiler... but sometimes my excitement might get the better of me)
Ch 1 - interesting set up... but
Ch 2 - Do not trust Kate (seriously, i am changing my name for TW fan fic reading!)... really don't like it when "Omega lessons" mean someone slipping to their knees when hearing the word Alpha... grr.. okay, I am trusting Peter to rebel and take Stiles off his meds... and really... where is the Sheriff...
Ch 3 - Got to love persnikity Peter... even when he's fronting up to Talia he's differentiating between when a book was written and when it was set... Really don't think the drugs they have Stiles on are helping at all...
Ch 4 - Ooh a bit of Stiles POV (ish - given he's so medicated) ... oh crap.. as soon as he says "dad" I start sniffling... Dammit stop taking the pills!!
Ch 5 - And the award for fictional character I would like to roast slowly over an open fire the dissolve in acid (and really, I'm not a violent person) goes to Gerard Argent... and I just know he's going to get worse before it all gets better... I wonder if there is another reason for Kate not wanting a photo of Stiles and his alphas in the media?
Ch 6 - Okay, I like Cora... she can give as good as she gets. I wonder where some of the others are (so far no sign of Derek, or Stiles other friends...) ... ah ha! So the Sheriff has been in hospital - presumably why Stiles was taken into the equivalent of care... hang on... don't these people know Stiles from before then?? *puzzled*
erm Blake? Like Prescott College Blake?? Locking himself in the toilets Blake?? what's he doing there? Or is this a totally different Blake I've missed in BH?
Okay, I have issues with Deaton... I am never sure that I can completely trust him.. even now...
Ch 7 - I do not trust Kate as far as I could throw her... which wouldn't be far... *raises eyebrow* okay Deucalion, what are you doing there... Oh ffs, take Stiles off the damn meds people!
Ch 8 - I do like stories were the Hale family is alive and though important in BH still some of them are troublemakers at heart. Camden Lahey... Isaac's brother?? Okay then, so doped to the gills Stiles is relatively recent.. about the same length of time the Sheriff wasn't working cos someone set him up over something... interesting... *ponders*
Ch 9 - Okay, taking him off the meds is good... but potentially could be difficult going cold turkey... Kate is horrible (seriously I am changing my name... )... Obviously Camden was Isaac's brother.. is Isaac the person Cora is helping out with the flyers? And what now with that chapter ending!?
Okay... so, the drugs aren't regular ones... and Deucalion works in "pharma" ... interesting...
Ch 10 - Poor Isaac... (I am so writing that happy fic of him and Chris skipping off to France together living the Argent's own pack of misfit rescued wolves the code wouldn't let them kill) ... all sorts of thoughts on this chapter - do I wish to murder Deucalion or do I feel sorry for him that he can only deal with alpha/alpha attraction through abuse, kidnap and drugging? How much of this does Kate know... and really.. .Stiles was the only Omega at the facility? They are going to rescue the others at the facility, yes?
Ch 11 - Go Chris! Nice to see he is able to step up and not hide behind Peter.. Me thinks that Chris' weapons business might not be 100% completely above board.. Looks like Stiles is coming out of the drug haze.. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out when Stiles is back to his mouthy uncooperative self if Peter's alpha instincts about protecting "his omega" kicks in.. Do not trust the Kate (the Agent one, this one is totally fine to trust.. )
emerging from the closet with all his holsters on, even the ones that he refuses to wear during sex *snortlaugh* .. would it be wrong to ask DW that Chris relents and we get to see that scene...
Ch12 - Obviously now of course as they run for their lives it's a good time for Stiles' meds to wear off... Never mind Kate, she can sort herself out, go and get the Sheriff Chris! Okay then, so Isaac might be the one to help Stiles as he comes off his meds... but... where is this going next *chews fingernails*
Total aside - Given that everyone hates Gerard and the aim is for him to end up dead.. how long before someone writes him as a vampire so that the rest of them can keep killing him again and again...
Ch 13 - Poor Isaac, her needs to have some stories with happy endings for him! Chris really needs to just leave his sister to burn... and yay! Sheriff!
Ch 14 - I don't know, even in fics, it feels all kinds of wrong for Deucalion to be helping Gerard. Okay, someone call the cavalry and get Chris out of there...
Ch 15 - Oh Stiles *sniffs* .. They really did a number on him, the Sheriff and Isaac... I am waiting for a twist though... it seems to easy at the moment... (why yes, DW has warped my mind when it comes to TW fics) ... because what are the chances that Deucalion is going to get before a grand jury...
Ch 16 - a chapter of calm... if a bit emotional while Stiles works through what's happened to him.. but good to see he's going to front up to Chris & Peter... I think those thoughts of sitting with them and being petted are going to happen sooner rather than later!
Right, catching up time, as I have read, but am so behind in my comments..
Ch 17 - Stiles, blunt and to the point as always... though he's met his match with Peter... who ain't going to sugar coat things, even though Chris might want him to. Yup, Deaton still annoys me...
Ch 18 - Loving Peter's observations about Stiles. Cora is fab in this story
Ch 19 - Oh Stiles! Yeah, they might not have had the best of intentions, but they definitely cared about you .. and no, I don't think you can blame your hormones for your feelings. I fear the Sheriff is never going to totally recover... which isn't surprising, but still..
Ch 20 - Interesting... why would Kate do that? I wonder if her change of statement is linked to the fact that the FBI are pulling out ... and Deucalion is no longer a threat? In what universe.. well obviously not this one, duh! Poor Isaac... Isaac needs nice things...
Ch 21 - Yes Stiles, no matter what, you will always be awesome... *sighs* It's no wonder Isaac appears to have major PTSD.. after his dad and the freezer, he then got stuck with Deucalion... and at the age of 16... I am going to start a campaign! Or write my own damn story to give Isaac a HEA (cos most of the Chris/Isaac stories I've read are pants and/or non-con smut)
Ch 22 - Good, I hope Allison can help Chris, she seems a fairly level headed character... just so long as she turns off the water works! Heaven forbid that Peter lives in an ugly house! I think Peter has a thing for belts.. Chris in a gun belt, now Chris in a tool belt...
Ch 23 - Meh, not liking that the Sheriff has to retire, okay I can understand it, I don't have to like it though... Ah ha... I see Stiles has got bored of waiting and decided to make the first move.
Ch 24 - I do wish Chris would show some backbone sometimes, I mean, I know he does in a crisis, but just once, lead don't follow. Honestly not laughing at Peter and his thoughts on morals... okay, I am reading this chapter at work... didn't need the mental picture of these three in a chain of Stiles>Peter>Chris...
Ch 25 - I love it when Stiles texts in fics.. he's always just so totally random... Ah bless, they are going to take him out on a date.. like that's going to go down well with the Sheriff... Could I have Peter's bookshelves please...
Ch 26 - Got to love the Sheriff. So pleased that Isaac has a home there - even if he doesn't believe it. Scott is as dim as ever... but Cora is fab... Oh Isaac, you are so screwed up..
Ch 27 - Do we think Peter is going to get Stiles into a corset at some point? I do really like this Peter - he has a great combination of snark and softness. And good to see that he's reassuring Stiles that any relationship is going to be balanced
Ch 28 - Hug for Isaac please... someone... anyone... It's never a good sign when Matt turns up...
Ch 29 - I love it when Chris springs into action with all that calm efficiency... Of course all the deputies still consider the Sheriff their boss.. So is Deucalion in the ware house... my vote is for no... too easy... I am also believing very firmly that the gunshots are because Stiles got hold of the gun... *nods*
Ch 30 - And the "nearly as evil as Gerard Argent" award goes to.....Deucalion! Seriously, Isaac is going to need years of therapy after this. I wonder if Kali had shoes on.... but Yay for Stiles getting hold of Matt's gun
Ch 31 - I have a feeling that DW really only brings Matt into these fics to kill him off... Phew... all safe... and yeah, the Sheriff isn't going to be happy, but tough... I don't think anyone will keep these three apart for much longer...
Ch 32 - Peter appears to have a fairly one track mind... but take charge Chris is good... I wonder if he'll take charge elsewhere... Love the family dinner with the Sheriff
Ch 33 - I like that Chris still has a friendship with Victoria. Oh so nice that Isaac gets to call the Sheriff "dad" (seriously, I will be campaigning for a story in which Isaac gets to be happy) ... ah... we are starting the "smut" grins*
Ch 34 - Take charge Chris is all sorts of excellent... and with the dirty talk... all the feels at the end of this chapter!
Ch 35 - and they all lived happily ever after (except on Thursdays!)

I'm writing this after having just finished reading chapter 25, but this is true of the entire work, from chapter 1:
This has been the most I've anticipated chapter updates during a WIP. The multiple POV's, the characterizations, the wonderful slow build towards all of the main events requiring resolution.
And, of course, the emotional and physical payoffs are top notch.
Contradictory love. Yup.
Ok between this and the end, chapter 35, holy shiznoly what a freakin amazing, crazy, painful, sweet, hot ride. So well done! The variations on the characterizations is so much fun: a snarky but not evil Peter, a quiet Chris who holds doubts but does whatever it takes for those he loves (finally lol), Stiles is Stiles if not a bit more confident, John is in bad shape but living every day, Deaton is Deaton but he and Peter share an interesting friendship, Cora is kickass, and Isaac gets the short end of the stick but doesn't give and doesn't give in.
Isaac. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I like him in this and wanted more. In this universe, he feels like the glue to hold everyone together, like Stiles is. But he's got baggage from the moon and back to deal with. Luckily, he gets help from the best sources.
The emotions are all over the friggin place in this. To think back on where this story began, wow, what a fantastic journey.
DW's storytelling is as delish as ever. Her writing, her ability to inform on a character or set the emotional scene in just a few words is looovvvvvvvvveelllyyyyyyyyyyy and engaging and I can't get enough.
As ever, sharing this WIP read-a-thon with the usual suspects was a blast. :D

4.5 stars. An engaging fanfic in which alphas Chris and Peter mate with mentally-impaired omega Stiles to legitimise their pairing. But all is not as it seems..

Definitely glad that I waited until this was completed to start reading! It's a rough first half but oh so good.
Re-Read: Still so good, and sooooo long. Almost like 2 separate books in that the first half is so rough and such a tear-jerker and so angsty. But then it's awesome to see them all come into their own and see everyone heal. And some creative threeway smexin!

I am running out of ways to describe my satisfaction with these stories.
Lots of pain before pleasure. But that's ok, because the pleasure is worth waiting for.

Interesting and unique. I loved the gender dynamics.

Good suspense and action, nice characterizations ... what you'd expect from this writer. However, my favorite things were the history behind Chris and Peter ... how their personalities survived their coupledom and checkered past. Tempered but never erased. And how Stiles survived his traumas to become his own cocky true self.

for once I regret that I didn't read this as a WIP - some evil cliffhangers in there.

I don't even know what to write in a review for DiscontentedWinter anymore.
I think just seeing the author name is enough for me to grab it up. I don't even need to read the blurb anymore.
This was awesome, as you would expect. A/B/O gender equality has a strong presence. I like Chris and Peter established relationship, and how Stiles part developed.
I was only pulled out of the story once. Not in a bad way though. SWAT team from Redding. That stopped me. Only because I like 10 miles from Redding. It was a shock to see it. I would have expected Sacramento. But really, I like the idea of Beacon Hill being close to Redding. It's just a better fit. The towns around it are smaller, and fit more with the Beacon Hill's I imagine.
I loved Peter being his snarky self. Even without the evil side, he still rang true. I also like his being a book lover, and teacher. Actually, I liked all the characterizations.
Great story. Not to sad, not to angsty, not to sugary. JUST RIGHT.

This story had some pretty heavy & dark themes with Stiles being forcibly taken away from his dad & then held/drugged against his will. Also with Peter & Chris being lied to about Stiles's condition and being forced to take Stiles into their custody & continuing to medicate him without knowing all the facts.
