Present tense writing. Story was too abrupt without subtleness. Too much telling. Instant relationship was too dry and needed more water. Vice detective's roommate was replacement for ex girlfriend.

Hot, but too short

Ricky and Ty were very hot together, but I wanted to see them develop their relationship more. I feel that they were great characters and I'm definitely going to be reading the rest of the books in this series.

HANDCUFFED, the first book on the Cops 'n' Floggers series, introduce us to the BDSM club Safeword. I'd read a few books from the author, but this series is proving to be my favorite.

For rent boy Maverick Slone, Ricky for most of the book, the day hasn't shown to be so good. When an unsatisfied client puts him in danger, Detective Tyler Speed comes to the rescue, offering not only safety for the day, but the opportunity to get him out of the streets.

One of the parts I liked the most about this book was the character development, especially on Ricky's case. I think this is where I got to know the main characters better. I really liked Ricky and it was so good to understand where his attitude came from. Tyler was ok, I didn't care that much for him. The plot was nice, it had a steady pace. It was a little predictable but, still, a very enjoyable story.

There was a good connection between the characters. The relationship was built a little bit too fast, which is always an issue for me. It feels more driven by lust than by love, but it is a good start. The interactions between Ricky and Tyler were great; I loved Ricky's attitude and doubts about the whole situation. His hesitation made the story more believable. It was rather soft in terms of BDSM scenes, which might be a good things for readers exploring the genre.

In general, an entertaining story that can be easily liked by readers who are into M/M BDSM, but especially for readers who are learning about the genre and aren't willing to go too heavy into the scene yet.
