Romantic thriller with a cliffhanger in the end…. You’ve been warned….
Her…
This wasn’t supposed to happen. I wasn’t supposed to fall in love. Oh, who am I kidding? I had been in love with this man since the first day I laid eyes on him. This man was tall, muscular with chiseled features, a low beard, and these unbelievable blue eyes. He was a badass, and I wanted him. I had dreamt about what it would be like to touch him, to kiss him, and to feel him inside me. And when my dreams suddenly came true, oh, how I wanted more. I not only wanted him; I deserved him. But I knew better. I wasn’t the woman he deserved. I wasn’t the woman that could give him everything and, believe me, he deserved everything. I should have let him go. Despite how I was feeling, I should have just let him go. It would have been the right thing to do. And, yet, I couldn’t bring myself to let go. He was my obsession. I couldn’t breathe without him. My heart would beat out of control. I would start to hyperventilate and I would only be thinking about leaving him.
Someone help me.
Someone please show me how to let go when you know you should but can’t seem to bring yourself to do it. Someone show me how not to love him.
Him…
I want her!
Plain and simple. I want Grace Michelle King. Or shall I say that I want Misty. I’ve wanted this woman for quite some time now, but the timing in both of our lives wasn’t right. Now, it was, and I was taking full advantage of this moment, but Misty was making it hard. For some reason, her stubborn ass was holding back from me. I wouldn’t allow that to hold for long, however. I planned to break her defenses, and it would be easy. Her brown complexion seemed to glow every time I was near her. She was affected by me just as much as I was affected by her. Good! Now all I needed to do was show her that loving me was the only option she had to choose. I wasn’t letting her go. No matter what, she would be MINE!
Obsession Too centers around Shane Cooper, brother of Josh and Malcolm Cooper. We read Josh and Kenya's Story in Obsession. In some respects, Obsession Too is a continuation of the loose ends from the first book.
Shane and his brothers and other individuals are members of an elite, clandestine organization that operates in the shadows with more autonomy than other Intelligence Agencies. There are a lot of moving parts and characters in this story. Kudos to the author for never losing me because of the many layers she's woven -- every detail has a purpose.
This is a romantic suspense story with a cliffhanger, the author states that right up front at the beginning of the synopsis. The romance in this story is between Shane Cooper and Grace Michelle King affectionately known as Misty. She is ex-military and very capable of holding her own among her peers. Misty has had a thing for Shane from Day One. Shane is attracted to her, too --however, neither of them acts upon their attraction. They just keep wasting time with other people instead of giving into the inevitable.
One night, after a heinous criminal has been meted Misty's Special Brand of Justice there is a turning point in her relationship with Shane. After they nearly burn the house down -- metaphorically speaking -- Misty becomes skittish and Shane is certain that she's the one and only future Mrs. Shane Cooper. Now to convince her, he needs to bring his A Game --nope, make that Plan B, which is FWB, you know -- Friends with Benefits. Something Misty can relate to, because it's the standard MO she uses to avoid relationships.
This is a romantic suspense story, which means you get more suspense than romance. The sex is hot, but doesn't happen every five pages and rightly so, since they're trying to save peoples lives and Governments from being overturned and I'm okay with that.
Let me start off with saying that S.K. is one of my favorite authors. I think the author went out of her comfort zone with this book by having a different type of heroine and diving into more mystery/suspense. Full disclaimer for anybody wanting to read this book you may need to go back and skim through the first book to understand this one. I read the other book so long ago that I couldn't even remember the heroine or the brother Shane in this book, especially all the side characters. I was on my kindle searching names to refresh my memory which may be frustrating for some people. The two issues I had with the book was the women miscommunicating/ keeping secrets plus the lack of growth in Kenya who gets caught up in the same traps of the previous book which was frustrating. I was hoping Kenya's character would have grown by this second book. Hopefully, the author doesn't wait a full year for the next book to come out.
This is book 2 in the Obsession Series. This is Shane and Misty/Grace's story. I love this couple I think they are fun and very forthright with each other except about the fact that they are in love with each other.
It was nice to meet up with Josh and Kiara again and the other characters. I would have preferred for the book to be all about Shane and Grace but its not. There are about 3 strands of the story taking place at the same time which obviously will impact on the Cooper brothers.
The story is well written and very engaging. For those of us who hate cliffhangers well this one has a real humdinger of a cliffhanger. The author does try warn the reader about this by letting you know ahead of time that the story ends in a cliffhanger so we are grateful to her for that.
Another great read. I would recommend it even with the cliffhanger!
Not as good as the first book, just ok. Pages and pages of sex scenes with Shane and Misty, too much for my liking. Hope the author focuses more on getting the bad guys in book 3. Oh and why is Sweets going to visit her ex without backup?!.......TSTL
I am also a huge fan of SK Lessly's books, but this book fell waaay short for me. I skipped through a lot of the boring parts. And to be honest, I am not a huge fan of Misty's, so reading about her budding romance with Shane, Josh's older brother, was a meh for me. I liked Shane, but Misty was just annoying AF. What is her problem anyway?lol Actually, I still think she secretly wants Josh. I wasn't completely sold that all along, she's been pining away for Shane. I think that's why she's not giving their relationship a chance, but that's just me. Love scenes are super hot as usual, but there's a lot going on in this book and we also are weaved into the continuing saga of Kenya (Sweets) and Josh. Not so much with their relationship, but things having to do with their job which I still don't know what these people are doing lol It's not CIA, it's not FBI, it's some B13 type of thing. I have no idea, but the cliffhanger really put me in a salty mood because I see it's been nearly 2 years and nothing more from the author. No HEA here, folks.
I have been waiting for a new release by this author all year. I was truly excited to start reading this sequel to Obsession, but I was somewhat disappointed. The blurb talks about Shane and Misty's feelings for each other, but once their miscommunicated feelings for each other is established, the book flips to an all out action/suspense book. It's hard to believe that Sweets/Kenya is that naive and wouldn't share her knowledge with Josh. I'm hoping part 3 is the conclusion to the Josh/Emily Parson story as well as Cupid. I don't think we've heard the last of Casey either and of course Malcolm needs his own story also. There were some grammatical and editing errors. With my somewhat negative comments, I am eagerly awaiting part 3 and this author remains one of my favorites. Hope the wait isn't long!!
Totally hit bottom in this book .ok we all love a good amount of sex but when you can't keep up with the story line cause all you're doing is knocking boots on all pages but one and on a half page you get a bit of the story it's like your stretching out this book cause you're trying to get a third one out and ran other of things to write so you filled it up with pages of sex. This would have been a very good books if more of story beefed up.
This was my first book by the author (read them out of order)... The first chapter where we were in the head of the Misty, didn't really make her a character that I could connect with, but whatever... However, I loved the Shane. Note to the author... why does every woman have to wear contacts to hide her eyes. It was okay with Kenya, but overkill with Misty.
This story just takes your breath away from start to finish. I wanted to talk about Shane and Misty and the world wind that they are involved in but let’s just skip to the last chapter. Sweets need to start listening to that little voice in her head. It is their for a reason. Boy Boy some heads are about to roll when Josh and his brothers find out what is happen and that Sweets is in the middle of it. Okay let me slow down and rewind. I love Shane and Misty together I hope they figure it out and somehow end up making it work. About to start on the last part of the series book 2.5 can’t wait.
I know we were warned but still...Cliffhanger, after waiting so long for this book. inconsistency with how the first ends & timelines being inconsistent. It was written more as an action suspense novel which is fine but the writing was forced & trying too hard to be action without substance or using literary devices that could have achieved the action, suspense, & romance. Also Kenya is officially an idiot & I am over her non-sense. Just because she learned some karate doesn't make her able to take on anything ( especially pregnant), let alone without any real experience or training, FML. There were many other ways to move the plot along with out involving her, she & josh already had their HEA & book. With that said I do love this author & waited over a YEAR for another book. Ruined & Desire remain my favorites. I do look forward to Malcom & ((hopefully)) Isabella's story. I hope SK writes & publishes a lot more in 2017.
First off let me say that I am a huge S.K. Lessly fan but this book didn't do it for me. I don't know if it was the time gap in between books or what. I loved the first book but the second installment was just okay for me. I loved Shane, I didn't care for Misty (Grace) to much. She was a huge turn off for me. I just didn't feel that connection with her. Another thing is that there were too much dialogue about what they do, who they work for, and blah blah blah. I didn't need to hear the same thing over and over again from every character in the book. For one I hope the third installment is better and I hope I don't have to wait a year for it to be released.
Warning or not, I hate Cliff Hangers!!! It has already been a year and the next book is not even a whisper. WT Hey!!! The story was really good the action and suspense especially the ending was really intense. Why are there always dumb women that are suppose to be portrayed as smart, intuitive & strong, making some of the dumbest moves? That is so frustrating, why not just wright that "Dodo does it again; she takes it upon herself to do something that is going to get a lot of people killed." And leave it @ that. I hope this author come through soon b/c I would like to know the outcome of this story. Otherwise, I'll be left without closure for yet another incomplete series!
So many questions... I read the first book so many times. Some things don't match in my head. Emily's hatred for Sweets. While understand jealousy but it's like she met her before and I don't remember reading that at all. Is it really Diane? Sweets? What was she thinking? Do you forget who you are married too? Josh is crazy. If anything happens to her. Ugh Very dumb move. I'm just stunned by her behavior. Pregnant no less. Couldn't even finish reading that part. Not sure how I feel about Misty yet but Hellloooo Shane. Why is she fighting this? I enjoyed the book and I love the characters. Looking forward to book three! Bring it on fast!
Hoorah...everyone is in the game...playas take a look behind door number 3...it's about to go down...Shane and Misty can finally bump uglies...leading to possible happy endings..Josh and Summer/Kenya have their happily ever after but old enemies keep coming back...making sure they both meet horrible endings..there's evil lurking...dominoes falling into place..a crime syndicate involving human trafficking, mysterious cutthroats all over the globe....#3 promises a Sh!t Storm...so lets wait and see!
The lovers are obsessed with each other, but are too afraid to go further. I love the chemistry between the new lovers, so it was exciting to see which brother it was. It was good to catch up with people from book one. I can't believe the mess that Sweets has gotten into now. Wished things were resolved in this book, but I will be sitting on ready for book three. I recommend this book.
This book was filled with useless information, repeat emotional descriptions and no substance. I never understood Misty or Shane and didn't understand why their relationship was even introduced in this book. This book should have concluded Kenya and Josh's story. I hate the cliffhanger! In her book "Desire" it took her two years before "Desire Too" was released.
Let me start off by saying how much I hate cliffhangers. Overall this book wasn't bad the characters were intriguing and the plot was interesting. However what kind of annoyed was the fact that there seemed to be too many stories going on at once. There were these long drawn out things from the past then it would switch to a random character. I hope the next book is easier to follow
First, I loved the beginning and the action of the first few chapters. But there were so many POV changes, it was hard to really be invested in the progression of Shane and Misty's relationship. There were so many things going on, focusing on them as the main hero and heroine was not easy. I would have enjoyed it more if there was a focal point for the telling of this story.
I have mixed feelings about this book, even though I love the explosive relationships between Shane and Misty; I was equally disappointed overall. I thought the story with all those acronyms was overdone. I tend to get lost when the precedence is not on the romance but it's more about a complex plot.
This author spent too much time on describing the various government agencies, and the sex scenes between Shane & Misty, but not enough time developing the relationship or developing the plot to kill Josh. I hope the last book gets through the story because i hate cliffhangers
I feel so cheated!!! I cannot believe she just cut the story off! A cliffhanger?! I wish I had been warned I would have just waited. She didn't even finish the love story between misty and Shane! Just wow
I felt at times I was studying for a literature test. There were a lot of characters to remember and relate to. It was good but it did require some concentration.
I was highly disappointed. There was too many things left unresolved for me.
I did enjoy the developing relationship between Shane and Grace. However I never found out why Grace had the first nightmare and if it was true or not ......
The first book was better, however I still enjoyed reading this book. Loved catching up with Josh and Kenya, from the first book... Shane and Misty was hott. Warning there is an cliffhanger at the end. I'm looking forward to reading the 3rd installment. When I get the chance to.
“When I get married, my wife and my family will belong to me. It’s that simple. I will take care of them because that’ll be my job and my responsibility and no one else’s. I will supply their every need. I will protect them, struggle for them, and I will live for them. That’s what I mean about being in control. I will be the head of my household. That’s not up for a debate or discussion. It’s how I was raised.” "
People often say they're attractive to the person looks or their sense of humor. And I normally wouldn't disagree with it at times.
But this right here. This right here is down right sexy. A man that is willing and demanding he own and take over his responsities. Without being push into a corner to do so. They dont make much men like him anymore.
I know a lot of people complain that it ended on a cliffy and I can understand the complaints. But since I started with the next book before reading this series in order I don't have any complaints.
I am happy that I know have some of my questions answer concerning who Isabella was. Also is Diana got what she deserves. And amount other questions.
The only one that wasn't answer was what was that cold look that Sweets kept mentioning seeing in Jake's eyes.
But on another note I'm happy that I got to read more of Misty and Shane. I absolutely love these two together. I love that Shane is very much into this relationship with Misty. And even though she did not want a relationship she has one anyway.
My favorite part is when Shane follows her ino the Elevator and makes it clear to her that she should be happy. That she took off when she did because nothing was stopping him from claiming her lips.
Misty family are hilariously cute as well. They're so funny I love the love between them. I thought her father would be more protective over her with Shane. But I guess he see's himself in the Cooper boys. That over protective, deep, loyal love that makes your heart flutter.
So far out of the Cooper boys Shane is my favorite..... No wait I like how crazy Josh gets over his wife sweet..... But then Shane the same way..... Dang I just want both of them. Lol I cannot wait to see what Malcolm has in store for us.
One word ridiculous. Am not sure if Kenya is suppose to be smart or stupid, but from every look of it she’s the dumbest and least thoughtful of all these characters. Am sorry none of this makes any sense what so ever. You discover that a very dangerous international assassin and your husband’s dangerous ex are after him then thought instead of telling a team of trained killers this you a very pregnant woman with zero training and high risk pregnancy be one to do what exactly? The entire team was digging to find our info then person decides she rather hoard the vital information and go on a suicide mission because she does not want to appear like she can’t take care of her self, never mind that she CANNOT TAKE CARE OF HER SELF! And then there was Misty, and the geek squad, you heard of the alarm and know what that meant yet no let’s not get the entire team involved, let’s all work on this very santos mission on our own without getting the whole team involved. These people do not sound like trained anything, more like a bunch of self absorbed idiots that do not understand what National security is all about. Nothing about these are realistic. I honestly gave this 3 stars because the author have been killing this series until this book. This was the worst of the series. I actually wished Kenya don’t make it out of this one just because I just don’t understand the level of stupidity and self indulgence that will make anyone do what she did. She’s a risk to the team and the entire family.
First off before I completely go off, I just would like to say I really like this author. Now, with that out of the way, let's get to it. I hated the character of Grace Michelle aka Misty. I get this is supposed to be a strong female badass, but come on! There was just too much of her stubbornness and supposed "good looks", that was a complete turn off for me. This chick needed a good therapist. The book was ok, but I am hating that author's who write about strong black women give us all a bad rep with thinking that stubborn and bratty is somehow equivalent to strong. It is NOT. It's an insult! This girl imo is backwards thinking and silly, so juvenile and immature. Black women are strong, not because of stubbornness or immaturity masked as " grown ass woman" but because we tap into our emotional, spiritual and logical depth. The book was long-winded and I found my self skipping over the unnecessary mind- numbing back and forth with each and every character. Disappointing, but I will not give you up on this author. This book was not it for me.
