Reacquainted

Rate this book
A Persuasion Variation.Returning to stay with his sister in Somerset, Captain Frederick Wentworth is doing his best to forget his last visit to that county eight years previously, which resulted in a broken engagement, and a broken heart. When he and Anne Elliot meet by chance one morning, their ability to get properly reacquainted is curtailed when young Charles Musgrove falls from a tree. Frederick is hailed a hero, welcomed to Uppercross and immediately catches Louisa Musgrove’s attention. This potential new romance ought to soothe his old hurt and allow him to properly move on, but can he forget the one woman he truly loved?Anne had hoped to avoid all possibility of meeting with Frederick on his return, but fate has other plans. Being part of a social circle where he is a key feature does little but stir up the feelings she had thought were all but put aside. She knows he has not forgiven her, but is there a possibility they might be able to salvage at least a friendship from the connection they once shared?Reacquainted is book one in the three part Love Remains novella series, a variation on Jane Austen’s Persuasion.

In this Persuasion variation the story starts with the Crofts already at kellynch Hall soon to be joined by Captain Wentworth. Meanwhile Anne Elliot is staying with her sister Mary Musgrove.
Soon fate lets them meet when young Charles Musgrove falls from a tree. But.....
An enjoyable story, a lovely read.

This first of three volumes of a variation of Austen's Persuasion in which Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth meet up again is nearly as stunning as Austen's original. Ms. Osbourne keeps Austen's characters in character (with Mary being even more annoying and complaining than in the original novel), but she also tweaks the plot just a bit. It's a lovely read, especially for fans of this final completed novel by Miss Jane Austen which was published six months after her death.

I can't help but highly recommend all three volumes of this Persuasion variation; they're just so lovely that I could barely put them down. In fact, I read all three volumes in two days!! These books are truly excellent, and if I could give a 4 1/2, I would!!

This was a short read. It began after Ann had arrived at Uppercross, and the family home had been rented to the Admiral and his wife Sophy. Captain Wentworth arrives at Uppercross just as young Charles falls from the tree and assists Ann in bringing him to the house. Thus, they meet again. Over the next ten chapters, there is a little interaction and it is only in the last chapter that they are alone together, talking and walking on the Cobb in Lyme.

I don't think the cost for the next two books is worth the price as it appears that nothing different from the original novel has happened yet, although we hear the thoughts of the Captain as well as Ann.

Loved to be able to find a Persuasion variation! Osborne’s characters are true to form, with Anne unsure of how she should respond to Frederick Wentworth when he unexpectedly returns and is once again inadvertently a part of her life. Will their former relationship be found out by the Frederick’s family and by Anne’s sister’s family? If only they would both stop being so stubborn! Only time will tell...

Being the first part of 3 installments of Persuasion's retelling, it's a great delight to be able to know what Captain Wentworth was thinking the whole time in the course of the novel compared to the original, where the reader only able to know about it at the very end. Can't wait to start the second part!
