Eindeloze zomer

What can I say...this 2-in-1 is Sarah Morgan doing what she does best and with doctors *le sigh*, I barely moved from the sofa all day.

5 - Time to begin. Stars!

Perfect summer reading. Originally released as two separate books; A Bride for Glenmore & Single Father, Wife Needed, Summer Fling takes the reader to the Scottish island of Glenmore.

Kayla and Evanna both nurses on the island get their happily ever afters over a summer. Sexy Doctors and nurses, plenty going on, and a heap of sexual tension keeps both stories moving along, and easy to immerse yourself in.

Sarah Morgan has become one of my go-to authors recently, when looking for some good old-fashioned romance.

A Bride For Glenmore 3 stars
Ethan is a very complicated hero. Its not easy to like him. He is dark, brooding and aloof. His emotions are buried deep inside him. All we know about him is that he had a scarred childhood and that he has a secret reason to come to Glenmore Island. SM keeps the mystery till the end.
In contrast, Kyla is cheerful, open and honest. She is full of life and enthusiasm. Opposites attract and the attraction is instantaneous and hot. The romance is intense but it loses its intensity between the medical scenes and the description of the life in a small community where everyone knows everything about everyone.

Single Father, Wife Needed 3.5 stars
Single Father Wife Needed is the story of Evanna and Logan. It's about unrequited love. And friends to lovers trope. Evanna has loved Logan all her life. But he has absolutely no idea. he has always considered her as a friend and colleague. Logan's wife died in childbirth, leaving him a little girl to raise with the help of his extended family. He has buried himself in work. And when he FINALLY noticed Evanna, he was afraid to lose her long life friendship. My heart went to Evanna and I really wanted to hit Logan on his head to smack some sense in him.

Probably more like 2.5 stars but I didn't enjoy either story enough to round up. I picked up two of Sarah Morgan's books at a fair a few years ago for 2 EUR each and I don't know of I've just been reading the wrong ones, but her writing doesn't work for me. Her writing style is annoying, the plot feels far too contrived and the dialogue is so poor that I find myself continuously rolling my eyes.

Maybe I should try one of her more recently published books, as I know some of her series are quite well-loved, but it won't be any time soon.

Enjoyable summer read. I loved how the entire island cared about each other. Worrying when one of them were sick. Sarah wrote some lovely characters. I also liked how the happy ending for each girl happened just at the right time. Any longer and it could have started to get annoying. I look forward to reading more of Sarah's work.

I was at the RWA and heard Sarah Morgan give the wittiest acceptance speech of the evening. (She was awarded a RITA for "Doukakis's Apprentice") If she can speak as well as that, I thought, then I must read at least one of her books! Summer Fling contains two stories of the "medical" variety, a genre I don't normally read. But I really enjoyed these two stories, and will look out for more by this author.

I found this book at the resort when I was on vacation. I started to read it and got as far as page 90 or so. Then I had to go and I can't find it in my town.

As far as I read, it was good. Nice writing, nice female protagonist. Sometimes a little too perfect though.
Mysterious new guy in town. And an easy flowing storyline. It had potential for a nice and light romantic read.
Such a shame I can't find it to finish it :(

Normally, I love Sarah Morgan’s books, but this one, I’m afraid, was a real disappointment. I’d read the other book in the series, so I purchased this one in paperback (as it wasn’t available on Kindle), but I really wish I hadn’t bothered.

I’m guessing that’s partly because the book was written back in 2007, and it explains why it feels so dated. And also because I’m so used to the authors doing a much better job with both her characters and her plotting.

The story of Evanna (and where does that name come from?) and Logan, who work together, in a general practice on a Scottish island waswas too twee and unbelievable for me. The heroine is supposed to have been in love with the hero since she was five! 26 years of quietly loving him and doing nothing.

And despite the fact he married, and then was widowed, she has stayed on the island, loving him from afar, like a wet dishcloth instead of leaving a building a life for herself. No other men, no sex, nothing except making herself always available to help him out.she might just as well have laid herself on the ground and invited him to walk over her.

The scene at the barbecue when Logan ignored her new dress, told her she should wear in the ponytail and that flat shoes would be better than the high heels was excruciating. And she just accepted everything he said. Then asked her to look after his daughter on a Wednesday and she just said yes. I wanted to slap her and tell her to grow a backbone. I gave up at that point - I simply couldn’t read any more and skimmed. to the last two pages. And Logan? He has never been aware of her as anything but a good friend. Suddenly he sees her naked and then , only then does he realise he’s attracted to her? No, this did not work for me. I became increasingly annoyed with them both - but especially with her.

The heroine was simply absurd and I was simply annoyed at her. Why on earth had she not got a job on the mainland, and dated other men as a way of curing herself of this impossible infatuation?

I couldn’t believe that she’d put up with unrequited love for so many years and just accepted it without trying to move on. I thought she was unutterably pathetic, and I didn’t empathise with her at all.

Even at the end when Logan was declaring his love, she was refusing to believe him and insisting it had only been sex. So not into this trope never mind, Sarah went on to write, so many brilliant books. I’ll forgive her this one, but I simply wish I’d never read it.

You can see in this book that SM is a good writer but this was not for me.

Evanna had to literally be seen accidently naked for what's his name to consider her as a romantic interest!
So the only thing stoping them from being in love was lust on his end?!
Outrageous.
He wants her.
He gets her.
I wanted to see him suffer!
That girl has waited for him for more than twenty years, has seen him fall in love, get married, have a baby.
Has babysitted the said baby.
And now that he realizes he is in lurrrrve.
He stops her from leaving the town and gets her?
I am pety.
I wanted him to suffer for being an oblivious, stupid man.

Kyla loves Ethan cause...?
He's a good Doc.
He's brave.
He has a muscular body.
Anddd?
He is quiet and oh so mysterious.

Kyla doesn't know a lot about him.
But she's in love.
Kyla doesn't know lot about romance either.
Cause having sex on flooring of ruined castle before the sunrise, in a storm?
Sounds inconvinient and uncomfortable.

Despite everything it was fun reading about dedicated docs and nurses.
And Ethan's backstory and secret was pretty cool.

DNF at about 20% of the second story.

It feels like Ms. Morgan couldn’t decide whether she wanted to write a romance novel or the script for a medical TV show. These are two short stories, touted as two romance novellas. Very large sections of each short story are devoted to the accidents and maladies of the islanders and how the main characters deal with these. Very little space is given to the actually development of the featured relationships.

In the first story, Ethan and Kayla go from strangers to married in what seems the blink of an eye, even though Ethan is described as having this huge emotional baggage that needs resolution. Well, that baggage seems to disappear conveniently quickly.

2.5 Stars: Okay. Maybe recommended.

My year is consisting of those easy no brainer books that you pick up whenever you have a spare moment to relax. This book was one of them. I didn't even know it was a jointed story, I picked it up at random because the mention of Scotland caught my eye.

It was cute, hilarious even at some points. The Scotland part was lovely. The close knitted community was adorable. Even the slight "suspense" to the first story was interesting. Yet in so many ways this story left you either wanting more or feeling like it ended very very abruptedly. Nevertheless, for a quick easy "lets just relax and read something simple" day, I'd recommend it.

Easy reading Evanna has always been the reliable friend that picks up the pieces when her friends need her.

The problem is Evanna is love with Logan and always has been, but Evanna is the one Logan turns to after his wife dies and needs help with his new born daughter.

12 months later and Evanna can no longer be the one Logan turns to unable to tell him that she loves his she is willing to leave Glenmore and start a new life.

Will Logan realise in time that Evanna is the one???

Easy read at it best, nice story with a feel good factor read.

OK. You know where you're going, but the journey and the setting are pleasant. There is a bit of a mystery in "A Bride for Glenmore," but it's not nearly so drastic as you're led to believe. "Single Father, Wife Needed" is set in the same Scottish island, but it annoyed me that the 2 main characters had miscommunications that caused problems that would not have existed if they had just talked. But I guess that's a staple of a certain kind of romantic fiction. It's also set in the medical world.

When Ethan Walker takes a job on Glenmore as a doctor he meets Kyla, they are definitely attracted to each other but before they get together they have a lot of obstacles to overcome not least Ethan's secret...
Evanna has been in love with Kyla's brother Logan since she was a child but he has never shown the slightest interest in her.
Can she make him change his mind after all that time and get him to see her as a woman who loves him and not just as a friend?
Two lovely intertwined summer romances with a sweet storyline for the idealist and soft hearted.

A few times a year, I just feel like reading something by Sarah Morgan. She always does a great job with her characters and you know it's going to end well. I enjoyed these stories about a doctor-nurse brother and sister on a remote Scottish island. The second one could definitely have been longer and more made of the twist at the end, or the two stories could have been rejigged and joined together into one book.

A usual Sarah Morgan story easy to read, slightly predictable but still enjoyable. A fantastic rural location with a set on interesting characters. Kyla is attracted to the newcomer on the island while Evanna has been in love with Logan since she was small but her story shows if they can turn from best friends to lovers. 4.5 stars

This is my third Sarah Morgan read and soon after starting, I realised that I had read the follow up before this one. That being said, I really enjoyed the two linked stories, just tried to put to the back of my mind what I already knew. Looking forward to reading some more by this Author ..

As there is no description for the book i thought i would put the description which is on the book up here.So here it is...

Life in the sleepy island of Glenmore is filled with tranquil lazy days. Bliss! But this summer the gossip mill is running overtime - love is most definitely in the air...

Poor Evanna has been infatuated with her boss forever - to him she's just part of the furniture. Rumour has it this summer she's decided to get noticed. No more sensible suits for her... she's bringing out the stilettos!

Kayla can see Evanna is in love with her brother and if she had her way she'd knock their heads together. Oh well... Kayla has other more pressing distractions- the new island doctor is gorgeous! Dr Ethan sticks out in the picture -perfect island like a v. handsome sore thumb.

Ripples are running through the tranquil waters of Glenmore - secrets, scandal and more than a little flirtation! It's going to be a summer to remember!

I really liked the book it had both Kayla and Evannas point of view but also Lukes and Ethand so you could see how each character felt.I wasn't too sure about buying it but im glad i did!
