Chester watches as his trail boss, Bill Wade, rides in one day with a young woman of sixteen; Miss Jo McQueen.
She’s to accompany them as they drive the cattle and Chester happy for the extra pair of hands.
She may be quiet but she’s tough and she’ll answer to no man. When the arrogant Pike tries to ‘charm’ her, she nearly scars him with her knife.
But Chester sees a twisted grief in her eyes, and he knows from the way she wakes screaming from sleep, what happened to make her suffer in silence.
Jo McQueen lost everything in one nightmarish night.
Three men came to her family’s homestead, under the want of good hospitality and her kind parents invited them in open-armed.
But as soon as they set foot inside, they killed her father, raped her while her mother watched and then they shoot her mother dead, right in front of Jo.
Left for dead, with only her hate and pain to give her strength, she tracks down her Uncle Lew – once US Marshal for Texas, now Commissioner.
The McQueens are a stubborn lot, so knowing that Jo will stop at nothing to see those men dead, he swears her in as a US Deputy Marshal.
With the law on her side, she’s on the hunt for the three men who ruined her life, all linked by one distinguishing feature – their bright red-hair.
What’s more, their names are burned into her Solo, Fletch and Preacher.
While Solo and Fletch could be called ‘simple’ criminals, even Jo knows that Preacher is a whole another level of evil.
As luck would have it, cattle rustlers hit them one night and even through the sudden rage of a storm, Jo recognizes Fletch.
But she fails to kill him – he dies out of his own bad luck and her only reward is his handsome black stallion.
Taking the stallion as her own, she names him Nemesis.
And when she hears of a sighting of a redheaded man named Solo, she and Nemesis are hot on the trail…
A thrilling and action-packed tale, Nemesis Rides The Trail is a classic Western about one girl’s hunt for revenge.
