book 1 this story is very nice, heartwarming - about finding your place. it shows what will happen if you consider whole race / nation thinking only about 3 od them. You will try to make them extinct. thats what Jessie cant allow to happen as it would go against here rules. Jessie and Yahn are so likeable characters, they cooperate with each other and they try to understand their differences. I can't wait go begin book 2!
Book 2 Starts right after book 1. Here we see how people grow to change their position, their thinking about others. For me scens with the croupwd were really hard as it seems so actual to some people. The Bond described in this book was so natural bethween main characters. It was fast and really Nice read! Now time for book 3 ;)
Book 3 The last part of our journey! The level is just the same as previous books. This one is a conclusion of the whole story. Jessie bloome even more than i expected her, she was a character that has not only pros but also coins , that makes read even better. In this book we have a peaceful beginning and than we get in the middle of the action till the end of it ;) This heroine has her way to people Hearts! Sometimes Yahn made me a little iritated, but it's normal as we can realy like the character even with that part of it ;)
An excellent game of cat an mouse alien style. Jessie can't obey orders and take capture the last remaining enemy of her people. When some of her crew mates decide they want to kill Yahn instead, they escape and have many adventures across the galaxy. They discover things aren't so different and fall in love. They save each other, other planets, earth, and liberate a whole PLANET of oppressed people. I always get excited when a new Ashley Hunt book comes out. I am an ARC member.

Did not finish! Wish I hadn't bought this, what a waste of money. The writing is awkward & boring. The flow is choppy, the characters seem unnatural. Nothing made me really care about what happens to them. I Could not stay focused on it & could not force myself to continue reading.
I save 5 stars for things I've read more than once, or can see myself reading again -- and this story has so much in it...
Book 1
I just finished Alien Destiny. I really loved that it centered on two characters who looked beyond prejudices, stereotypes and assumptions, and were willing to take a chance on an individual. Their endurance, hope, and determination as they kept striving to find a place where they could live together and have a home kept me turning the pages, and has me looking forward to the next book.
I'm always the first to admit I don't like cliffhanger endings, but this story felt like it ended on a tease for the next story, a reminder the true happily ever after has not yet been reached, and a beautiful moment of shared hope and love... so I can almost forgive the fact I was frustrated there wasn't more story right there waiting for me. ;)
I appreciated the variety of personalities on the original team of humans, and really enjoyed our couple's encounters with others in their search for a new home.
Can't wait to see what happens next.
Book 2
Almost as soon as I started reading it, the phrase "there 's no place like home" started running through my mind, though the tone, and meaning with which I was thinking it changed as their characters went on a fantastic adventure. This was not a story of two people caught up only in themselves or one another. It is a story about two people in love who are looking for a place they will be accepted, and that will accept them.
Jessie and Yahn care, they are passionate, and perhaps the greatest thing about these two characters is that I'm not simply talking about their relationship with one another. Every where they go. In every thing they do, their passion, and compassionate nature finds a way to shine through, even at the end of this book where they are, through actions, finding ways to reshape how people think.
Book 3
Jessie and Yahn's search for a place to call home, and be at home has been a compelling story throughout, and in this final piece I loved watching them stay true to themselves as they continued to fight for what they believe in, and continued to see individuals instead of prejudices and assumptions.
For me, the writing grew stronger, even as a part of me wanted to yell at my e-reader, "ah, just give them a break already", but finally, in the end something truly amazing happened for Jessie -- as Yahn found a way to show her a truly amazing, and to her unexpected, result of all the ways in which she had championed others.
This is the kind of story where, as I think back on it, I find more in it, and I realize how much I gained from reading it.
I was gifted with a copy, and am voluntarily posting a review. I can honestly say had I not been given a copy -- I would have gotten it through Kindle Unlimited in a heartbeat!
The heroine Jessie seemed really intelligent and likeable at first but the patchy story didn't assist in making her compelling to me. I can't stand bleeding hearts and enablers and although I didn't get very far, I didn't want to waste my time reading a potentially frustrating book. For example, Jessie think that her Captain is acting unreasonably towards her because she's a woman and not because she's basically on her first tour straight out of basic training, she is mouthy and not much of a team player (even if some one of her teammates is a dick).
As for the hero Yahn... he really isn't my kind of hero. He's neither an alpha, beta of gamma type hero. He's a wallflower. The author didn't do him any justice when writing him up and introducing him.
The world building is quite sketchy also. Apparently Yahn's planet Karkast there is no 'sodium, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and other common Earth elements' and the atmosphere consisted of noxious gases but the heroine is breathing in a musty smell within the first chapter of the book. Whatever.
This book might be right up your alley and may improve after the fourth chapter. I am certainly not going to waste any more time on it and am glad it was free on Amazon Prime.
The first book was very poorly written, and I couldn't make myself finish. There were contradictions in the book left and right. Not to mention a juvenile writing style. The story neither flowed nor did it make a lick of sense. In the end I just gave up. I'm sorry for the bad review, but it was painful reading this book. It seemed as if the book tried to focus on romance but even that was just without. Strong story line, but horrible delivery.
The main character, is Jessie, who is a college student but working in the army to help pay for college. The army is not what she expected, her captain is very anti-alien. When she meets Yahn, an alien, she saves him from being killed, and they run away.. The idea and the plot are strong. However there is a lot of change of change of point of view, which is a little distracting especially as I was trying to remember the various types of aliens, and new weapon names that were being mentioned. I did not finish the first book, not because I didn't like it but because I found myself editing and proofreading the book, so I became lost in the grammar rather than focusing on the story. I was reading it on my kindle and the layout is not good, too many gaps between lines, paragraphs.
