Monday morning. A crash, a mystery car and a dodgy looking bag switch. This is what Ben sees when he’s at the bus stop. Now Ben’s a witness.
Carl Stone doesn’t like witnesses. Witnesses cause problems and problems are bad for business.
Ben carries on with life, becoming interested in Jess, a customer in the café where he works, unaware that Tommy Doyle, Stone’s right hand man, has made him a target. Doyle is a man who will do whatever is required to protect Carl and their business.
Like all good Steven Kedie stories this doesn’t go the way you think it will, which is refreshing amongst so much writing that has a predictable plot line. Kedie does a great job quickly building the central character of Ben, who witnesses something he shouldn’t whilst waiting for his bus to work one morning. The tension and plot race along meaning it’s easy to keep turning the pages to see what happens next.
