Gulshan Nanda (1929 - November 16, 1985) was a popular Indian novelist and screenwriter. Many of his novels were adapted into Hindi films in the 1960s and 1970s, including more than a dozen big hits of the period - Kaajal (1965), Kati Patang (1970), Khilona (1970), Sharmeelee (1971) and Daag (1973). His stories encompassed a range of themes, from social issues and romance to action thrillers. He was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Story six times, for Kaajal (1965), Neel Kamal (1968), Khilona (1970), Kati Patang (1970), Naya Zamana (1971) and Mehbooba (1976).

कुछ किताबें बरसों याद रहती हैं, जलती चट्टान भी ऐसी ही एक किताब है जो मैंने शायद 25 साल पहले पढ़ी थी, लेकिन मुझे राजन और शीतल आज तक याद हैं, किसी और के साथ जीवन की शुरुआत करती शीतल भी और चट्टानों के बीच जलता हुआ राजन भी।

Beautiful! A lovely story with unforgettable protagonists. The writing style was simply amazing. This book is going to stay in my heart for a long time. There's something magically innocent about the book that I can't express in words.

कितनी खूबसूरत कहानी थी, मैंने दस साल पहले पढ़ी थी लेकिन आज भी पूरी कहानी वासी की वैसी ही याद है, गुलशन नंदा साहब की एक बात तो थी कि उनकी कहानियां सीधे मन को छू लेती थीं।
