THE MOSAIC ROAD: A Folkling Tale

Rate this book
“Remember what Ferranay taught you; good always beats bad in the end.”

It’s been nearly three years since Jonah Burrows first encountered some very extraordinary folk in the forest near his home. Those three years have been peaceful, and deep friendships have formed, but times are changing in Gordelan and now Jonah, Tarkel and the gang must embark on an ambitious adventure. In a world where rolling pins and silk scarves are instruments of magic, and creaky kings of old await resurrection, they must try to halt a catastrophe that could mean the destruction of everything the folklings have preserved for centuries, even if it requires devastating personal sacrifice. With friends in peril and foes in demand, it’s up to the allies to explore whether good really does conquer bad- or is it just another tall story?

I loved this book. Loved everything about it.

'The Mosaic Road: A Folkling Tale’ is the second book in the ‘Folkling Tales’ trilogy, but it also makes a perfect standalone read. You do not need to have read the first book to thoroughly enjoy this one.

For everyone who has read ‘Peril’ (Bk 1), however, be assured that all your favourite people are back again (for good or ill / love ’em or hate ‘em!), plus a few new ones you’re guaranteed to adore. This is a great sequel.

Lenni Loring’s writing never ceases to captivate me. In Gordelan, she creates a fantasy world so real you can touch it, with characters that are fun, complex and credible – my favourites, this time, have to be Herleykon (a wooden skeleton who delights in telling corny jokes) and Cornelian, the firedrake. I do hope they’ll both reappear in Book 3.

If you are someone who likes magic; comedy; epic battles between good and evil; and books such as: the ‘Narnia’ stories and ‘The Hobbit’, you are sure to enjoy ‘The Mosaic Road: A Folkling Tale.’ I thoroughly recommend it.
