Guess who’s on the f*cking naughty list?

I live for three things: Hunting, fishing, and fighting. Once a SEAL, always a SEAL. But if there’s one thing I do best, it’s making women scream for more.

Tough luck, because all they ever get is one night.

But when Andrea winds up numb and freezing on my doorstep, I can’t keep my f*cking hands off her. I warm her up, from her full lips down to her long legs, and I don’t stop there.

Then she’s gone in the morning, just the way I usually like it. But I can’t forget those gorgeous, lust-filled green eyes.

When I see her again, some prick’s fingers are wrapped around her throat. Everything goes red.

The next thing I know, I’m in the back of a cop car. Some asshole’s blood is on my hands, and the only way out of jail is a fake marriage to Andrea. But that’s not even the craziest part.

...I want to make her my wife, for real.

This is a standalone, full-length Navy SEAL romance with panty-soaking romance and a smoldering-hot bad boy. Christmasy happily ever after guaranteed.

So I picked this up from Kindle Unlimited because the blurb sounded really good. Then I proceeded to read it in one sitting because, well the whole book is really fucking good! I laughed throughout the whole thing! Coal and Andrea had great chemistry and the way they bantered back and forth had me in stitches. I just loved it. Her family was great too. This is the first book by this author that I've read but it definitely won't be the last!

A surprisingly great story!

I thought is story was going to be a dud. One of those bad boy military books with lots of sex and no storyline, though this book on Amazon said it was over 150 pages. But that was not the case. This was a really good story! I liked that that Coal wasn't the typical bad boy seal who screws women (though he does), but his character was really developed. I also liked Andrea's character along with the secondary characters of her family.

I did wish there was a mention of Andrea's co-worker who kept ditching her or what happened with that hotel her company was trying to buy. I think there was a quick blurb that her co-worker got the deal done, but I wasn't really sure since there was never a me tion about it again. Also there was really no mention about Coal's family. I thought his parents passed away and didn't really realize that he had any siblings until the end. It seemed that he didn't really communicate with them since he lived in the woods isolated. I did love the epilogue and felt like it wrapped up the book quite well.

I'm excited to read more by Melinda Mix!

Oops...the author forgot to write about the time between dislike to love. There was no transition from the MCs fighting and not getting along to developing their relationship. If anything, the focus was on the male lead connecting with the female lead's family.

Storyline was okay, but the writing wasn't very engaging for me.

I really liked this book. Cole is an ex Seal who has cut himself off from civilisation living in a cabin in the wood foraging and bartering for food. Andrea is out hiking and the weather takes a turn for the worse stumbling in the snow she falls literally into Coles arms. Hot hot hot attraction sizzles between them then reality separates them. A few weeks later they meet up and things take a nasty turn leading to a rushed marriage to save Cole and falling truly in love.

Favorite Quotes:
- "Why are we stopping?"

"You don't feel that?" he asks.

"Feel what? I was sleeping."

He gives me a dismissive look. "Even if I was sleeping, a flat tire would wake me right up."

"Oh," I say. "I guess it is a bit jerky. Want me to call AAA?"

"Yeah," Coal says. "Why not just chop my balls off and wrap up my dick with a pink ribbon while you're at it?"

"Is your masculinity really so fragile?"

"Fragile," he says, putting the truck into park. "Of course not, but any man should be able to change a fucking tire. Imagine how you'd feel if I wanted to call someone in to-I don't know-shop for you?"
- "I like to shop, but-"

"And I like to change my own tires. Now you can sit in the truck and sleep, or you can watch and learn."

I yawn. "I have AAA, so I don't need to learn, but-"

"Cancel AAA," Coal says. "You've got me now. I won't let another man change my wife's tire."

"That sounds oddly kinky."

"Actually you need to get out of the truck," he says. "I gotta' jack it."

"Wow, changing a tire must be some kind of fetish for you if it makes you want to do that."

"Jack the truck," Coal says, grinning up at me. "Though I like the direction your mind is going."

And if I've everything to lose, I've got everything to fight for.

I really enjoyed this story. The author does such a fantastic job writing a well developed story. The world building and characters are so well constructed that it is like watching a movie in your head. The blurb for the story does not do the actual story justice. Coal, a former SEAL is living in isolation at a remote cabin and a lost Andrea winds up at his place. After some horizontal mambo-ing, he leads her back to town, but neither can forget about the other. Circumstances bring them together just as some a$$hat tries to strangle her and he saves her life. To keep him out of jail, they marry but need to prove that it is not a fake marriage. Thus the story really begins. It is Christmas time and trying to prove to those closest to you that your marriage is real and getting to know each other makes for a great read. The story was really hard to put down for things such as sleep and work (but I found a way). I look forward to more books by this author. I think that it is great that the author allows Amazon to offer her books on the Kindle Unlimited program (which I thankfully have and have found many great authors through my subscription).

I received an advanced copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.

This is a sensational story, and I highly recommend you read it.

I must admit, I hadn't read the blurb for this book before I read it, so the story didn't unfold like I thought, and that was great. I loved how Coal and Andrea met, their next meeting was a surprise, and you'll see what I mean when you read it ( I don't want to spoil it for you). I just loved Coals character, he's the kind of guy that I think most women want, that true knight in shining armour, he was just so humble, in a very cocky way. I'm probably sounding very contradicting here, but once you've read the story, you'll know what I mean. There are major parts and characters within the story I haven't mentioned all because I don't want to create any spoilers.

Loved it.

A, sweet and steamy, Christmas Story. Cole saves Andrea when she is caught out hiking in a snow storm. They have an unforgettable all night stand. Two months later Andrea is back in town on business, Cole once again comes to her rescue. Now he is in need of rescuing.
A hasty wedding in the police station. The month of December spent with Andrew's family. Cole comes to the rescue of Andrea's sister and is once again in a police station. This time he has Andrea's whole family on his side.
Loved Cole, Andrea annoyed me at times. Loved their engagement and the epilogue wrapped their story up perfectly.

A hotel sales employee finds herself stranded on a California hiking trail in an unexpected snowstorm. She was rescued by a former Navy Seal who cares for her through the night and returned her to town the next day. Afterwards neither of them could forget the other. The former Navy Seal rescued her again in a chance encounter when she returns to town for another hotel sales trip. The rescue put Coal in a tight bind with the law and he marries Andrea quickly in jail in an effort to save himself from a judge ready to throw the book at him.

This is a fun story. There were times when I laughed so hard I had to put the book down. I love the duel POVs. As for being a book boyfriend goes goes, Coal is one of the BEST. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance books.

I didn't really like Coal or Andrea in the beginning of this story - they're kinda mean to each other and it was annoying. Also, I was not a big fan of Andrea's job, and that whole part of the storyline just sorta dropped off w/o any resolution, which also annoyed me.

Other than those couple of things, throughout the story I came to like both characters more and I enjoyed watching their relationship change & grow. Also, they made me laugh a few times, so that's always good! ; ) The family parts were well-done & the overall story I liked. So, mostly a thumbs up overall! : )

This book is HILARIOUS.

I mean the hero's name is COAL, which is just fucking ridiculous, but I'll allow it. The sex scenes were so over the top they made me cringe. And I couldn't even finish the epilogue, it made me so uncomfortable with all the emotions being thrown around.

"A SEAL can hear a lot of things that a civilian can't."

I think it's a kind of 'you had to be there' situation, but that sentence had me HOWLING with laughter.

***Possible spoilers ahead.

Coal has cut himself almost entirely off from the outside world. He lives in an isolated cabin a ways out of a small mountain town, cuts his own firewood, kills his own meat and barters handmade furniture for eggs and bacon etc. from the local producers. Coal rarely goes into town and if he does, he's usually looking for a woman to give him a quick release, but never for more than one night and never at his place.

Andrea is in the area for work and after her friend bails on their scheduled forest hike, she decides to go alone anyways. She finds herself lost and stranded, in the dark, with a snow storm starting. She can faintly see a light in the distance, but loses her footing and falls instead of getting herself to safety.

Coal hears Andrea’s screams for help and grudgingly bundles up to go and rescue the hiker foolish enough to hike alone, at night, during a storm. He warms her up, gets her dry clothes and offers her a place to stay for the night, with the promise of helping her back to town in the morning.

Andrea is stubborn and is uncomfortable with the flirty, dirty-talking, extremely handsome Coal, but she does eventually decide to spend the night. She settles on the couch in front of the fire, but when the fire dies out in the night, she heads to Coal’s bedroom looking for warmth. Well…they kept each other warm. I’m pretty sure the room was probably steamy in fact! But regardless of their incredible night together, Andrea heads back to town in the morning and back to work.

Some time passes and Coal can’t get Andrea out of his head. He hasn’t had another woman since Andrea left his cabin and he heads to town one evening for a distraction. Little does he know, Andrea is also in town for more negotiations. They don’t reacquaint under good circumstances, he hears her scream for help in an alley, but this time his rescue efforts make things much more complicated. He saves her from a likely rape and deadly attack outside of a club. However, he fails to use restraint once he sees harm coming to Andrea, which lands them both at the police station. His clever lawyer friend Curly comes up with a sure-fire plan to get Coal released. Since Andrea is the only witness, if she marries Coal, she cannot be called on to testify.

What follows is a very sexy, funny romance between two stubborn people, who have as much fun fighting as they do making up. Having to ‘pretend’ to be married over the holidays at her parents proves challenging, but Coal hopes he can win them over, temporarily at least.

When Coal ends up in cuffs again, there is little Curly can do to help him this time. Surprisingly though, he finds himself with some unlikely allies and tries to turn events in his favour.

Funny, steamy, sweet romance with some suspenseful moments. Excellent book to keep you warm in the chill of the winter.

Standalone. No cliffhanger. Super sweet HEA. Told from dual POVs.

Smolder is about Andrea and Coal. Andrea is out hiking alone and winds up falling down a steep hill in a snowstorm. Coal is enjoying his life in his cabin, far away from civilized society. He goes out to chop some wood and hears what turns out to be Andrea's call for help. He carries her back into his cabin to get her out of the snow & cold and warm up. They end up having a hot night of sex and then he leads her back to town the next morning where they go their separate ways and on with their lives.

But Coal can't get Andrea out of his head. And Andrea keeps thinking about Coal, too. Andrea ends up going back to the town near Coal for business and goes out with her coworker to a club. Her coworker hooks up with some guy and abandons Andrea. Then some weird guy starts hitting on Andrea. She tries to get away but the creep follows her and it becomes clear that he's on some kind of drug and is intent on hurting her. At the same time, Coal is in town with his Navy buddy when he hears Andrea scream. He comes on the scene of the creep strangling Andrea and...I'll just say Coal saves her.

Because of what happened, Coal and Andrea end up getting "fake" married at the police station so that neither has to say what the other did. To make sure the judge believes their marriage to be real, Coal goes with Andrea to spend Christmas with her family. Neither is prepared for what happens along the way. And you have to get your copy to find out just what happens.

I was hooked on this book from chapter one and didn't want to put it down! I loved that the author writes the story in both character's POV and I found myself smiling, laughing, gasping, and mostly blushing while reading this. Melinda put together a perfect mix of sweet, super hot, funny, angry, and even anxious moments to end up with another great story. I look forward to reading more!

SMOLDER

Ex navy seal, Coal likes the solitude of his mountain home. Hunting, fishing, an occasional fight and visit to town is what he lives for now. Until his peace is shattered by a woman who turns up at his home, lost and freezing during a snowstorm. She's feisty, snappy, and stibborn and he can't resist her. One night together and then she's gone, just the way he likes it. Or is it? When he sees her again, some guy has his fingers wrapped around her neck, and Coal sees red. In that moment his life changes for ever. His ends up in a jail cell and married, to the woman he can't seem to forget. Trouble seems to find him, his not looking for trouble. But for Andrea he would gladly succumb to whatever life throws his way. Can Coal and Andrea find a way to keep him out of jail and trouble, or will there newly formed relationship be shattered as quickly as it formed.

I really enjoyey this book, from beginning to end. It was entertaining, exciting, humorous, and sweet. The storyline was intriguing and I like that this story had dual POV, a story always seems to work better when you have more than one side of the story. The characters were an interesting mix and I liked them. Coal is obnoxious and sarcastic, but he was quiet sweet at times as well. Andrea is strong and feisty, and I liked the fact that she was so stubborn. I do however feel that at times the characters felt a little detached, and there wasn't always enough warmth between them. It felt like Coal always seemed overly sarcastic towards her. I realise that his a cold, hard seal but there is always place for a little warmth. Nevertheless I still really loved this story!

At first the story between Coal and Andrea started out slow, despite the hot steamy scenes. After leaving the cabin is where I started getting more interested. Coal is a jack@$$ often but he's funny. The banter between these two is funny, at times. When Andrea is attacked, Coal reacts and get into legal problems. Getting married, prevents Andrea from testifying against Coal. So the fake marriage is presented to the parents who take a liking to Coal. At times, the book seemed silly, and not in a good way but overall I liked this book.

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.

SMOLDER- Coal is a bit of a recluse. Andrea is in town on business. She goes hiking on her own and gets lost. Coal comes to the rescue. He doesn't want anything to disturb the way he lives his life. So they go there separate ways after a hot night together. But can't get each other off their minds. Something happens and they get thrown back together. The only solution out of their problem is a fake marriage. Can they pull it off? Can they keep their hearts from getting involved? Can they keep their hands off each other? Read and find out. I really enjoyed reading Coal and Andrea's story. I definitely recommend

Coal is an ex Navy Seal living alone in the forest seeking a simple, peaceful life. One night in a snowstorm, he hears a scream and goes searching for the source. He locates Andrea slightly injured and nearly frozen to death. Coal never wanted a serious relationship and Andrea had a painful breakup with her ex boyfriend but each is strongly attracted to the other. They agree to a one night only situation and she leaves next morning. Feelings, however, cannot forget and they both long for each other for weeks. Fate steps in and draws them together again. Only this time, circumstances are more complicated, dangerous and things begin to get really interesting. Excellent plot, moves smoothly, holds attention and presents a budding romance facing challenges with intense, exciting action and sweet, heart warming love. This is a great book by Melinda Minx. It is about Coal who is a ex-SEAL. He lives out in his cabin away from civilization. He hunts his own food and builds furniture with the wood he chops from the trees and trades furniture for eggs and bacon or food he is unable to kill. Then one day Andrea is out in the woods on a trail and it starts to snow. She turns around to go back the way she came only to fall down a hill. Coal hears a scream and goes in search the direction it came from. He locates Andrea and takes her to his cabin. This is a great book you will need to read to find out what happens, I will tell you that Andrea goes to a bar and a guy comes onto her and follows her out when she leaves, he is going to kill her and Coal also runs out after him and just does get the guy off of him and his rage takes over and he kills the guy. Now the cops are wanting to lock Coal up for killing a man even if he was saving someone he did not need to kill the guy. Great book!
