The snow is falling, the fires are blazing, and Poppy Milenne is hard at work. While the housemaid preps for a wealthy guest, she’s hardly expecting someone young and handsome. Imagine her surprise when the man who comes to spend the Christmas holiday is the charismatic Sheikh Shadid. The playboy prince arouses Poppy’s thirst for adventure, but giving in to temptation would mean risking her job…and her heart.
Sheikh Samir Shadid can’t stand spending the holidays alone. Christmas reminds him of a time he’d like to forget, and what better way to do so than with a willing woman. His father may have sent him away for safety, but that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy himself while he’s here. When the beautiful American maid catches his eye, Samir is determined to seduce her in time for Christmas.
Samir is looking for a holiday fling, but Poppy soon gets under his skin. And the more time she spends with him, the harder he is to resist. While the weather may be cold outside, inside ‘tis the season for love.
New to Leslie? Readers suggest starting with 'The Bossy One' (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6BP3BBF) —Imagine a sunny Minnesotan Mary Poppins, employed by a grumpy Irish billionaire. The story is a blend of humor, revenge, passion, heartbreak, hope, and witty banter. As one reader put it, ‘This story had me squealing at the romantic moments and silly moments.’

Leslie’s love for romance began when she picked up a worn-out romance book from her local library. She started writing soon after, and as they say, the rest was history. She now resides in a cozy cottage on the British coast, enjoying long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.

First off the cover needs to be changed to match the people in the story line. Poppy is a blonde and Samir has blue eyes. If the characters faces are going to be described through out the book by only the color of their hair and eyes and no facial features it would be smart to have the people on the cover to look similar so you can picture the people at least. I would have given it another star if the people on the cover were similar to the characters.
The cover through me off and trying to visualize the characters was hard because of this contradiction. I liked the story line and the twist at who was the cause of all the threats. I wish the book would not have ended so abruptly. It was really starting to hook me and then it ended. It is a cliffhanger and has me questioning things about what is next and about their families. I will be waiting for the next installment and reading it because I can not leave a story with questions.
I still recommend this book because I think the other books that are to come in this series will shed more light on this one! I have read many of Leslie North's books so I have complete faith that this series will pick up and you will not want to put them down!

I've read a lot of books written by Leslie North; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the first book in the Shadid Sheikhs Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Poppy & Samir; he’s the Sheikh; she’s one of the maids. His father sends him to America for the holidays; when he sees her it’s an instant attraction.

Fantastic book. Poppy works at the Royal family’s safe house and a member is due to arrive later so, she is re-cleaning an already spotless house. When the house manager, whose supposed to be helping, tells her to take out the trash and look for the delivery guy she struggles with the heavy bag. She hears a car from the front of the house and calls for help. She mutters to herself when no one replies. The bin is taller than she is and she ends up flat on her back with the bag on top of her in the snow. Poppy looks up as she hears chuckling. Assuming he is the delivery person she sends him to the house telling him that he’s late. When she returns to the house the manager seems usually pleasant. She calls Poppy in the room and there stands the delivery man. Only he’s NOT! Sheikh Samir is introduced to her. Horrified, she mumbles and runs from the room. The house manager thinks she should stay to handle everything but, Samir finds Poppy interesting and wants to get to know her. He dismisses the woman even as his bodyguard/friend says it would be better if she stayed. He tells her to leave. If he’s forced into hiding by his bodyguard who says there’s been a death threat against Samir then he’s going to enjoy the time. Over the coming days he is more intrigued with Poppy and makes his interest in her very clear. She rebuffs his advances desperately needing to keep her job but, he doesn’t give up on her. One afternoon she goes to make lunch and the bodyguard, Melka, is sitting in the kitchen. He tells her that Samir sleeps with women like her all the time, calling Poppy vulgar names and to stay away from Samir. Shocked, she takes a few minutes to calm down and tells Melka that she has no desire to be with Samir and he needs to let her do her job then kicks him out of the kitchen. Along with Samir’s advances Poppy’s attraction to him intensifies. She eventually gives up the fight one night and they enjoy each other, fully. The next day he proclaims that she has the day off and he takes her walking through the snow. They go farther than Poppy has been and come to a clearing with a cabin in it but it looks deserted. When Samir sees her freezing they return to the house where he leaves her in front of the fire. He finds Melka in the kitchen who makes a comment about his plan to sleep with Poppy before Christmas has succeeded. Before he can reply he realizes that she is in the doorway and heard. She is furious and storms out and to her room slamming the door. Samir goes to the door and asks her to let him explain. She’s hurt and angry at him. She asks why does he need to say anything, this is what he does all the time. Samir says if he didn’t care about her why would he bother with wanting to explain it to her? She opens the door and turns back to the room and waits. Samir explains that he was once engaged and the woman who he loved betrayed him. A week before the wedding he caught in bed with another man. She admitted that she was sleeping with different men the whole time and she was only with Samir for what he could buy her. She had delusions that as third in line that he would one day be Crowned Sheik. Then she thought that he would still marry her to avoid a scandal. Well, she was VERY surprised when Samir DID call off the wedding. As Poppy listened she realizes he then went on to create his own scandals by being a playboy when she voices her thoughts he kisses her and begins moving her towards the bed. OH, NO, she tells him that he’s not about to go to bed with her while he thinks about that other woman. Poppy takes charge and makes Samir forget everything but her. Much, much later they get dressed to go downstairs to get food when they hear an explosion in the distance. Poppy goes to the window and sees smoke above the trees and Samir pulls her away and behind him. Melka busts in the room telling him they have to go NOW and grabs his arm. He reaches out to Poppy but, Melka says she can’t come there’s no room. Samir isn’t leaving her so someone can hurt her to get to him. Tension is high in the one bedroom place. Melka sleeps on the couch while she and Samir share the bedroom. They are like strangers and she thinks they are done. Samir asks Melka why he hasn’t investigated the explosion and he tells him his priority was to get Samir away. So, he tells Melka to go back and find out what happened and he refuses to leave him with Poppy. Furious Samir orders Melka to go, watches the other man leave then goes into the kitchen knowing that she heard everything that was said. She doesn’t want ho around so, she sends him to go lay down and get some rest while she fixes something for everyone to eat. Samir returns as she is finishing and apologizes to her and that she means everything to him. They end up back in the bedroom and later when he hears the front door he quietly goes to check it out. Melka has returned and tells him he found evidence that Poppy is behind it all. He shows him a jamming device he found and says that she had help. Samir doesn’t believe him at first but then he’s furious because he’s been used by another woman. He storms into the bedroom and confronts a confused Poppy. Oh, she’s good he thinks. He asks her if she really thought he would love her and if she was sleeping with someone else, also? Poppy watches out the window as Samir and Melka get into a waiting car. She gets her things and sees that the car keys were left behind. She leaves knowing that she has been exiled from the country and heads back to the safe house for the rest of her stuff. Samir is in the car with Melka when he discovers that they are heading to the airport. Something is not right and he starts asking questions. He notices that Melka keeps mixing up his pronouns between him and Poppy. Melka admits that the two of them were entirely too close and he had to stop it. Samir asks him if there was actually a death threat and Melka says that he had to get him to take his life seriously. Once they arrive at the airport Melka tells Samir to get out but, he refuses to move and asks why he would do any of this? Samir is surprised when Melka says because he loves him and not as a friend or brother. Samir orders him out of the car and he gets out. Samir tells the driver to return to the apartment but, with the snow worsening by the time they get there Poppy is gone. Knowing that she may NEVER forgive him he has to locate her and tell her what happened but, he doesn’t know where she would go. Will he ever find the woman that he loves?.

Poppy graduated from her study-abroad program for college and decided to travel a little before her Master’s program. For money issue, she ends up in a country Al-Harmid working on an easy maid job. The job offers room and board in a house owned by the royalty. It helps her to save the cash she needs for school. As Christmas near, suddenly the property manager informs her a royal family member is coming to stay. As she busy cleaning the house and changing all sheets and towels, she has her first run-in with the sheikh coming to stay. She assumes he is the delivery boy and blames him for not helping. Samir and his bodyguard are sent to this royal safe house, because he has got a threat to his life. His run-in with Poppy is refreshing. She is beautiful and treats him as a normal person, not as a walking bank account or a potential crown prince. He tries to seduce Poppy, but she resists, even though she is tempted. During his stay, they get to know each other’s issues and how they complement each other. They get close and become intimate. When the threat to Samir is escalated, they find themselves in the middle of a scheme and a lie. Samir needs to find out who is the threat and why Poppy is set up to take the blame. I like both main characters. Samir is flirty and yet still a gentleman. Poppy is hard working and smart enough to stay self-reliant. It is a heartwarming story with some suspense.
Meet cute melds into forever after a few bumps in the road The Sheikh's Christmas Maid (Shadid Sheikhs Book 1) by Leslie North is a sweet and steamy romance with the playboy Sheikh falling for the unimpressed Maid. Overall, Samir and Poppy meet in a most unusual way and slowly bond. Having both been hurt related to the Christmas holiday, Samir is determined to give Christmas back to Poppy and she is determined to bring back Christmas to Samir. It's love and an exciting Holiday spirit all around for these two leading them down the road to a HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily sharing my review.
For The Love Of The Playboy - Samir was used to women fawning over him because if his wealth and title, so he was really intrigued when he met Poppy and she didn’t know who he was and actually called him out on his crap, even though there was evident chemistry between them. Poppy was happy being single and trying to earn money, so she could further her education, but she knew she was in trouble the moment she laid eyes on Samir and realised he had his eyes set on her.
Not everyone was happy about their budding romance, which created friction between them and nearly cost them their happiness. However, Samir’s sharp wit and sheer determination discovered the truth, which gave him the strength to fight for his happily ever after. If you are looking for a beautifully written romance story, with a bit of an unexpected twist, then I can assure you that this is the book you should read. It truly deserves every star I have given.

Poppy is an American traveling the world before starting grad school. She has scored a primo job in Al-Harmid as a maid in a quiet secluded seldom-used cottage. Someone wants to kill playboy Sheikh Samir Shadid so his bodyguard has whisked him away to the family's hidden safe house. When Samir sees the beautiful Poppy he is determined to seduce her and make his stay more “comfortable”. Poppy thinks he’s a dream but OFF LIMITS! Well, the Sheikh gets his way and the affair starts. There are lots of things happening that “could be” dangerous to the Sheikh but maybe not. There is a suspicious character whose interference may ruin the match developing between Poppy and Samir. He finds her fascinating but she just finds him a bother. Poppy ends up being the one servant in the house for Samir’s stay with his bodyguard. Samir feels so good about Poppy and doesn’t believe his bodyguard. Many things come up to make Poppy question what is happening and even Samir begins to question what Poppy’s motivations are. Leslie North is one of my favorite Sheikh romance authors. While this holiday fling wasn't my favorite, I definitely enjoyed it.
Poppy and Samir's meet-cute was priceless - her lying in the snow and yelling at the delivery boy (who turns out to be the Sheikh) to help her with the trash. After that, she realizes her mistake and tries to stay hands-off with the Sheikh, who is in hiding following a death threat.
While this didn't have the usual Sheikh romance vibes because they're tucked away in a cabin instead of a palace, it was an enjoyable romance. If you're looking for a snowed-in romance, definitely pick this one up.
What irked me about it: Melka and his involvement. Also, how abrupt the build-up to their declarations of love were.
What I enjoyed: the spicy scenes. As always, Leslie North does not disappoint.
When Sheikh Samir is forced to hide out at his family safe house during the holiday season, he never imagined that he would meet Poppy, a college student working as a maid. He finds it refreshing that she doesn't fawn all over him, and begins to try and woo her, just to show that he can. What starts out as fun however soon turns into real feelings between the pair. Can they find out who is threatening Sheikh Samir, and trying to ruin their newfound relationship, before it is too late? Will they get their Christmas wish this year? I have a week spot for Sheikhs, they are my favourite royal to read about, and I loved this book.

I loved The Sheikh's Christmas Maid: Book 1 of Shadid Sheikhs. Poppy is a maid at one of the Royal properties. She has never met anyone in the Royal family. Samir is brought to the property after a death threat. Meeting Poppy wasn’t something Samir expected but from the moment they met he was drawn to her. He knew she was special and as they get to know each other their connection grows. Until Samir thinks Poppy is behind things going wrong and pushes her away. Will he realize before it’s to late that other forces are conspiring against him? A great storyline and lovable characters. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to more in the series.

This is a short read. Romance between a Sheikh and a maid.
Samir is a renowned playboy, spending Christmas in a luxury cabin to escape from an alleged death threat. Upon seeing Polly, he is instantly intrigued by her. She doesn't treat him like everyone else he knows. She doesn't bow down to him. She proves to be a challenge for him. His bodyguard takes an instant dislike to Polly and his motives are rather suspicious. He does and says everything he can to discourage Polly and Samir from having a relationship. Will his ploy succeed or will he thwarted.
There are some explicit scenes. It has a happy ending
I received an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
A sweet romance between Poppy and Sheikh Samir. Poppy is hired to work at the Sheikh’s home. Little does she know but someone from the royal family is coming to the house as Christmas is getting close but they usually don’t celebrate Christmas in Al-Harmid. Sheikh Samir is the youngest son of Crowned Sheikh Jibreel Shadid. He’s a playboy, and sleeps with anyone and everyone. He receives a threat when one of the women was married. His bodyguard Melka decided to take Samir to a safe house where Poppy lives and works. After they meet she is very attracted to him but refused to be another notch. But, he is relentless with his flirting and in time, their attraction gives out when Poppy touches him he feels a zap. He’s now thinking differently.
This story was a little differwnt. A Sheikh was coming to his safe house after a threatening letter was found saying he slept with a married woman and the husband was after him. The maid for the house was a college student just working there to save money for graduate school. He wanted her as she didn't fawn all over his handsome face. It started out as a game to him, but turned into real feelings. Thats when the story turned. The bodyguard gets involved and the sheikh's feelings get all turned around. It was a surprising twist but fun to read.

I really liked this it was a lovely, sweet, sassy between Poppy the housemaid & her boss Sheikh Shadid their was sexual chemistry between them but she was determined not to act on it but Samirs constant flirting she was struggling to stay away. Samir was in the safe house because of a threat but Melka his bodyguard was wary of Poppy & made sure she knew it. Poppy & Samir we're getting closer but just as it was getting serious a person with a secret tried to destroy their budding happiness but it was would the secret be revealed before Samir lost Poppy for good.

Good beginning to this new series. Poppy is an American working in Al-Harmid in the Middle East at a little used house of the royal family. It had been a simple job until the call came in that one of the family is on his way. Poppy thinks she has encountered a delivery man but it turns out he is actually Sheikh Samir Shadid. Poppy doesn’t want to lose her job so even though she is attracted to the sheikh, she tries to avoid him. His plan is to enjoy her and then toss her aside as usual, but there’s something special about Poppy. *Adult situations and language.

I am never disappointed with the stories by Leslie North and this book is no different. Sheikh Samir Shadid family was very well protected and due to a threat Sheikh Samir Shadid was sent to a safe house. Poppy was a maid at the home and the connection they have is great. Poppy can not afford to lose the job so she fights to avoid intimacy until she finally caves and gets caught. Some unexpected twists and turns make for a very compelling story. I would say more but do not want to give anything away. Can not wait to rad the next book.

I really loved everything about this book, especially the storyline!! What initially turns out to be just a fling ends up becoming serious between Poppy, who is a maid at a safe house owned by the Shadid Royal family, and Skeikh Samir. But....can this intense and budding relationship withstand being manipulated by outside forces? Can they sort through what's the truth and what isn't, and thinking that each one thought that the other had betrayed them!! Will the Christmas season work it's magic to restore both of their faith in it and in each other? A really good read worthy of 5🌟's!!
This is the first book in the Shadid Sheikhs Series. This was a short Sheikh's Christmas Story. Samir and Poppy's story was a sweet, fun and intriguing listen, filled with a little suspense. I loved their happy ending. Melka, the bodyguard, was an interesting character. Joseph Tobey has done a great job with all the voices and accents. Melka's voice totally suits the character! I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Sheikh Samir Shadid is use to getting want he wants. With his status and money, women are falling at his feet but not Poppy. Poppy is the maid who over sees the sheikh's safe house even though no one has ever used it, that is until a threat is made against the sheikh. Samir and Poppy are thrown together in a whirlwind of events as Samir tries to convince Poppy that they belong together. Read to find out if he is as good as he thinks he is!!
Sheikh Samir is in hiding because his bodyguard Melka got a death threat because Samir apparently slept with someone’s wife. The safe house was getting ready. Poppy was the live in maid. The house manager Emine was dishing out order after order to get the house ready. Poppy was putting out the trash and she was asking for help. She mistook the Sheikh for the delivery boy. When she returned to the house Emine was talking to two men and introduced Poppy. Poppy was shocked the man she thought was the delivery boy was actually the Sheikh. She spoke but hightailed out of the room. Poppy was left in the hose to tend to Sheikh’s Samir’s needs. His bodyguard doesn’t like her. Samir can’t take his eyes off her. She is attracted to him but knows he is off limits. He told Melka his bodyguard he will bed her before Christmas. Poppy was just doing her job. She went to put everything in the barn when someone closed the door. She was stuck in the dark barn when Samir came in after her. Claustrophobia kicked in. Samir saved her. Samir carried her to his bathroom and stripped her and put her under the water gradually to warm her up. She was scared and asked him to stay. He stripped and got in with her. This was the start of them being together. The closer he gets to Poppy the more Melka doesn’t like her. He wants to get Poppy away from Samir. He turns Samir against Poppy when Samir is falling in love with her. Samir trusts Melka and believes what he says. He treats Poppy like she is nothing to him. This book is good. It has suspense, betrayal and hot scenes.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The first meeting between Poppy and Samir wasn't great but it did get Samir interest in Poppy going. Poppy made Samir work to win her. Although both thought it was temporary, they fell in love instead. A wedge was driven in between them by an unexpected rival before Samir clued in and raced back to Poppy's side. I like how the spirit of Christmas was brought back to them both and to Samir's family.
This is the first book in the Shadid Sheikhs series and can be read as a standalone story. Samir is sent away over the holidays for his own safety and he meets spunky Poppy, who's working as a maid for the royal family. Samir is immediately taken with Poppy and pretty soon is head over heels for the young beauty. Wonderful Story. Likable characters.
Leslie North gives her readers a fast-paced romance story with a few twists and turns to keep you intrigued. With a great mix of suspense, betrayal, forgiveness, chemistry, steamy scenes, and a dirty-talking sheikh, you will be drooling for more.

This book tells the story of Poppy and Samir. I have read other Sheikh tales by Leslie North, and I greatly enjoyed this one. Poppy’s spunky personality draws you into the story. I look forward to Samir’s brothers stories in this series!.

The story of Poppy and the Sheik Samir and the beginning of love. While Samir could not stop wanting the maid Poppy, his bodyguard highly disapproved. Yet finding time to secretly be together, they began to fall in love. With a definite twist plot, some may not see coming, this book was a fast read and not boring as their story intensified. Good book to start Leslie North’s new series.
Leslie North writes romance that is fun and easy to read. Sheik Samir Shadid is the third son and a playboy. Poppy is working as a maid to pay for education. From the moment they meet the attraction is mutual. They are lovely characters. It is a wonderful story as the couple fight to maintain their relationship and find their happiness.
This is a well written book with strong characters and an entertaining story line. The author does a great job building the story and painting her scenes. What starts as a game for him soon turns into so much more. It's a sweet Christmas romance and I enjoyed reading.
