It was only meant to be three nights...
After watching my mother die, becoming a Blood Courtesan is key to my future in medicine. With loans racking up, all I have to do is pretend I want the money for tuition, and I’m hired. No one can know the real reason for wanting this job.
But it isn’t as easy as it first seems. On my first night as a courtesan at a ball in Salem, I meet vampires for the first time—and flee.
Vampires are not easy dissuaded. And one in particular, Renato, offers me a proposal I find difficult to resist. He has a dark, smoldering appeal that lures me in. Plus, I might gain the insight I seek.
I’m supposed to provide a service and will be paid well for it. But my feelings complicate our arrangement—and endanger my life.
It was only meant to be three nights, but can I walk away now?
Welcome to the shadow world of Blood Courtesans…where vampires are real and blood is a commodity.
It's not supposed to be about love...until it is.
PURSUED is part of the Blood Courtesan series, starting with REBORN, Myra's story. See the full list of books here: http://www.bloodcourtesans.com.
USA Today bestselling author Lisa Carlisle loves stories with dark, brooding heroes or quirky outcasts. Her romances have been named Top Picks at Night Owl Reviews and The Romance Reviews.
When she was younger, she worked in a variety of jobs, moving to various countries. She was stationed in Okinawa while in the Marines, backpacked alone through Europe, and worked in Paris before returning to the U.S. She owned a bookstore for a few years as she loves to read. She’s married with two kids, two cats, and too many fish.
Another great entry in the Blood Courtesan series. Desperate for money and on a personal quest, Mia agrees to become a courtesan. Even though she has second thoughts on the decision, she agrees to spend 3 days with Renato. Renato only wants 3 days because he refuses to make an attachment to anyone. However, neither Mia or Renato are satisfied with a short term arrangement. This was the first book I have read by Lisa Carlisle and I thought it was a great paranormal romance.

Title: Pursued (Mia) Series: A Vampire Blood Courtesans Release Date: #January10th Author: Lisa Carlisle and Michelle Fox Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre:#PRN #Vampires #5Stars☆☆☆☆☆ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Wow !!!! I have turned down this Series Blood Courtesans many times now because I really didn't think I would like it. I finally tried Ms. Lisa and wow ! I'm starting to read them now. Marianna Rhodes aka: Mia was a college student, for years so she could be a doctor. The student loans were astronomical. She has to be a doctor her mother died of a rare unknown disease and Mia wanted to give it a name, than save people like her mom. She was told about being a Blood Courtesan and the money was outrageous, she could pay her student loans off. But could she do what they wanted her to do? Renato is an Old Vampire at least he thinks he's old. Really just board with life he goes to Salem, Massachusetts, for the Halloween Ball. He usually would buy a Blood Courtesan for three night only, anything else was a waste. All that changed when he say the light yellow dress and the person in it. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
This book sucked me in right away, no pun intended. I wasn't sure what to expect in this series but was really excited to read the books of various authors in it. This was the first one I've read in the series. The Blood Courtesans are girls who choose to let vampires feed from them for a nice fee, along with other things. Lol. It sounds like hookers, I know, but the way it is explained, is nothing like that. I wasn't sure how they would pull this off but it turned out quite nice. Of course, there are always bad vampires trying to hook up with the courtesans. The heroine in the book had a good head on her shoulders. Being a lab tech and testing blood made this book right up my alley since Mia was in school studying to be a hematologist. This would be a great story to do a medical thriller from. Mia needed money for school and also wanted the chance to study vampire blood on disease. Things don't always go as planned though. Renata was the perfect vampire. He isn't stereotypical. Not too overbearingly Alpha and not too Twilight. He seemed more real. This made the story seem more real and was the perfect escape from everyday life. I loved it!
I absolutely love these Blood Courtesan Romances, they portray such a passionate and human side to vampires, that they are just as capable of showing compasion. They just need someone to bring it out, after all they too were human once.
Mia is set on becoming a hemotoligist after watching the suffering her mother endured before her death for so long with no knowledge of what was wrong with her blood. She has dedicated her waking days to her school work and has received scholarships, but they won’t even come close to paying for her studies. Which is why she decides to become a blood courtesan, not only for the money, but also for the knowledge she could maybe find.
Renato has lived his long immortal life seeking to avenge the wrong done to his mother decades ago. Now he lives the hum drum life that all vampires live, blood and sex. Until he meets Mia that is, she seems to bring the life back to his otherwise dark life. With her he can talk, laugh and feel human again. Emotions he thought long dead in him.
Will Mia and Renato find life in each other, or will Renato’s past finally catch up with him.
Renato and Gideon may be related by blood, but they were not family and were rivals in every sense. Gideon had everything that should have belonged to Renato and Renato vowed that one day he would come to America, find his father’s family, and make them pay for what they did to him and his mother. After a while, Renato comes up with a plan to take what is rightfully his, seizing an opportunity to force the family out of their home. His father’s rejection has clearly torn him apart, so when he tells him who he is, and that he is an immortal, his father looks at him as if he is a monster. Nevertheless, it is still sweet revenge for taking what was denied him. Mia’s mother had a blood disorder, and was dying, and there was nothing the doctors could do to help her; but it is a freak car accident that eventually kills her. Mia wants to become a doctor, a haematologist one day, and learn everything she can about blood, and hopefully help others with the same illness her mother had. But it is turning into an obsession, taking over her life. Part of what brings Mia to the role of a Blood Courtesan is her fascination with blood: it was supposed to get her what she needs, not lead to romance. But that fateful night at the Halloween Ball brings Mia into contact with Renato and Gideon, two vampire brothers with history, both vying for her attention. Gideon’s advances make Mia change her mind about being a Blood Courtesan, but Renato is a different matter and Mia agrees to spend 3-days with him. Renato’s feelings towards Mia are inexplicable, but what will he think when he finds out she has taken a sample of his blood? This was an excellent book and one I thoroughly enjoyed reading, and would not hesitate to recommend it. The plot was good and the story flowed effortlessly. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***
Mia decides that becoming a Blood Courtesan is key to her paying her loans for medical school, not an uncommon reason for young girls for becoming one, but she also has an ulterior motive that the vampires must not find out. Being a studious girl Mia is not ready for the aggressive vampire Gideon, so she leaves her first 'ball' but on the way home she is offered a lift home by the vampire who intervened with Gideon's brash come-on.
Renato, Italian, dark, suave and much more refined than Gideon doesn't frighten Mia as much, in fact she feels an attraction towards him and accepts the lift back.
Renato is intrigued by Mia too, and offers her a contract that she can't refuse. It was only meant to be three nights, a business transaction... But sometimes fate and what the heart wants, override the logic. Mia is falling for Renato, will Renato listen to his heart? Or will his rival Gideon see an opportunity for past slights in the form of the Innocent Mia?
The storyline had a good flow, I enjoyed the authors take on Mia's reasons for her focus on her medical goals. Rival vampires Gideon and Renato gave the storyline some suspense and action when they inevitably fight over Mia. Overall it was another great story from this Blood Courtesan series
Mia's life is lived with determination and perfection. Trying to control the things in a world out of control. Her sights are sight on her education and getting into medical school. With college comes loans and bills. This is one reason Mia turns to becoming a blood courtesan. But nothing she read or learned could prepare her for her reaction when coming face to face with a vampire. Renato's life is one of emptiness, hatred, and revenge. That is until the iron gate around his heart to opened. Such an enjoyable addition to the Blood Courtesans series. Truly remarkable read from start to finish. Highly recommended!!!
As I read another one in this series with the mix of authors it has too, I realize I get to taste different not just in writing but the way each one is laid out. Even though the basis same it just becomes larger into this world thanks to Mia and Renato. Money will also be a big factor to get someone to do at times uncomfortable when sorely needed. Mia needs it and enters in a different venue to obtain it. Renato thinks 3 days will be enough but is it? It will have a bit of a suspense thanks to that plus going along with these two is like getting dessert. This is yet another one in this series I have plowed through and thoroughly enjoyed.
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
While this is in the Blood Courtesans collection it has a few twists you do not see coming.
You get the blood, a party then the story is deepened with a rich world building for these people. From a ball room to a car then onto a movie theater you will not be disappointed in purchasing this highly enjoyable book.
The young lady sticks to her goals even as her heart is demanding love... which part will win? You read the story and find out for yourself!
I absolutely love Renalto! His dark heart and the reasons behind it made me really feel for him. Mia is just a wonderful young woman with a huge heart and a determination to find out what she could to learn about what happened to her own mother. A wonderful story of love and redemption!
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Another great vampire romance in the blood courtesan books. This one is about Mia. A college student specializing in the field of blood. She has her reasons why and hopes becoming a courtesan will help her. She just didn't count on the handsome Renato and the dangerous Gideon.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
Mia is a med student wanting answers about blood. So when she goes to the madam to see about becoming a blood Courtesan she's worried, she's never done this before. So when Renato hired her for three days she has her chance to find answers. What will Renato do when he finds out. Great read.
Mia's story is a bit heart wrenching but worth the pursuit of becoming a doctor. Renato is very set in his ways and knows what he wants until Mia enters his life, then things change. Lisa Carlisle pulled me into her world from the first page.
I really liked this addition to the Blood Courtesans world. It’s not a really long story, but it has lots of conflicting emotions (and not just romantic), a selfish jerk who causes problems, a sweet budding romance, and a twist at the end! An enjoyable read!
Love all of Lisa's books read almost all of the can't get enough. This book was very well written and thought out. Love the characters definitely kept me turning pages. Found a new world with the courtesans will def b reading more from this world
I adore a good vampire romance and this is it! Filled with ups and downs, good and bad, sensuality and romance, Pursued is a delightful and enchanting read.
A very sweet and sensual story of a young woman finding love in the most curious of ways. A story of a young woman who will do Anything to get help and answers.
Mia watched her mother die but s determined to have a future in medicine so decides to become a Blood Courtesan for the money - however she has a hidden agenda too. However he plan starts to go wrong at the first event where she meets vampires and she instead flees from them.
Renato is not easily dissuaded and offers her a proposal she feels she cannot turn down, especially as it provides the money she wanted plus a chance at the information she is seeking. It's only 3 nights so she sees there being no harm in taking him up on his proposal.
However when feelings come into the equation is can complicate things - and bring danger. This is supposed to be a business transaction - love is not part of this (or is it?)
I loved this book. It was well written as all the books in this group of books is, and I could definitely empathise with the characters and their thoughts and emotions. I have to say at the end I thought Renato was very indulgent of Mia but I guess that is love for you.
Book: Pursued: A Vampire Blood Courtesans Romance (Blood Courtesans) Author: Lisa Carlisle Publication Date: 1/10/2017 Reviewed by: Tammy Payne-Book Nook Nuts My Rating: 5 Stars
Review Mia doesn't have many options however she will do whatever it takes to become the one thing she promised her mother and herself she would become. A position as a Blood Courtesan presents itself and it pays more than Mia could make anywhere. What she doesn't plan on however is falling head over heels for the one man she cannot have. Or can she? What was to be only 3 nights turned into more, then? Can she walk away from Renato? Can he walk away from her? And OH the shocker wait for it ... wait for it.... This is yet another amazing book in the world of the Blood Courtesans and yet another hot, sizzling story that keeps you glued to your reader. Loved it. Lisa Carlisle
Mia Rhodes is a medical student with huge bills to pay, so why not be a Blood Courtesan to get the money? There is also another reason she wants to do it, but that will be her secret. Renato is our typically jaded vampire. He has had his revenge for the hurt caused to his family. Now nothing really matters. A sexy addition to the Blood Courtesan series. Our heroine is the most interesting character in the story. Our hero's vengeance is what will cause the danger. A short but very enjoyable read.
Mia was nervously waiting for an interview with Madam Lucia. Going to medical school after college was very costly, and this was a business opportunity that would take care of those expenses. Being hired, she was ready to attend the Halloween Ball in Salem the next evening. She was pampered and polished and dressed in a gorgeous gown. Then she joined the other women in the limo.
At the ball, she selected a mask and mingled nervously. Gideon came up to her, but she felt no attraction. Rather, she felt like his meal, giving her second thoughts! She excused herself and walked away, but he followed and grabbed her. She was panicking when a sexy voice said, “Leave her alone, Gideon.” While Renato and Gideon were distracted, she ran from the room and into the street. Her vampire courtesan debut was over!
Despite the disaster of the ball, Madam Lucia called Mia the next day with an offer to be Renato’s courtesan for 3 days only. The money was more than tempting and she finally agreed. Would Renato be able to change her mind about vampires? Or would Mia confirm that this wasn’t what she wanted after all? What was that other reason that made her travel this path to begin with?
This was such an enjoyable and emotional read! The reader immediately is drawn to the main characters. The more the reader learns about each, the more real they become. The interaction between the two was perfect! The storyline was great and was developed well. This was one of the best books in this genre that I have read in a long time, and I highly recommend it! (I have read the entire Blood Courtesan series up to now and every one of them is extremely good! You absolutely can’t go wrong with this series!)
I'd say this is a 3 & 1/2 star rating. This was a good read. The flow was a bit stop & go, Renato & Mia are likable for H/h & seem well matched. They both kept secrets from each other, but neither of them really had horrible secrets in my opinion, not enough to do damage to a budding relationship I would think. The bad guy, Gideon, was their biggest problem IMO to overcome. The ending felt a bit rushed, but HEA's are always appreciated.
I so enjoy reading the Blood Courtesan stand-alone series; each story takes the reader on journeys they can escape to. This romantic tale’s fast moving plot has suspense, clever dialogue, action, black-hearted jealousy, a life-threatening incident, picturesque and potent scene descriptions, the much adored passionate romance, and a happy ever after that a woman can only dream of.
Mia, a natural intelligent beauty is studying to be a doctor; being a Blood Courtesan will certainly help with the enormous tuition college loans. She, however, has a guarded secret as to why she is really embarking on this venture. When Mia signs up for the Blood Courtesans she is dressed up elegantly and is brought to a Halloween Gala to be picked by a Vampire. Mia attracts two Vamps; one who is vile and turns her off, the other is charismatic and soothing. She flees the ball with fear in her core and realizes she has no way of getting home. Mr. charismatic and soothing gives her a ride home. Renato finds Mia enchanting and her sassy persona makes him want her more. Mia decides that Renato is safe and when he offers three nights to be his Blood Courtesan she accepts.
A dazzling story that is well written and had me wanting Renato as mine. The backstories of both characters is quite emotional and play an important role in this exhilarating romance. Renato and Mia inspire each other and their chemistry is undeniable; loved them together. If you treasure vampire romance this is a fabulous addition to your library. {I relished this read and voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy.} Without reservations, I recommend this book.
Another fantastic book from the blood courtesan series. I loved this book. Renato is s vampire to die for, all mysterious and lonely until he meets Mia at the courtesans ball. This is a must read.
Marianna (Mia) Rhodes has a plan to make some extra money as a blood courtesan to pay off tuition in her goal to become a doctor. But that is not the only reason Mia needs this job and that is a secret she is keeping.
Renato first sees Mia at a Halloween Bask when she is approached by his enemy, Gideon. As Renato attempts to save Mia from Gideon Mia realizes that this might not be what she wants after all.
Yet Renato asks Mia for a chance and soon Mia realizes she may be on over her head for an entirely different reason. Renato has never let a courtesan get close to him before but he has a hard time letting her go. What will happen when he discovers her secret?
I enjoyed this story about Mia and Renato.
I was very intrigued about the story surrounding Mia's mom and what the secret she was keeping was. I was glad that it took so long to discover it although I'd love to know what the health issues really were and if eventually Mia is able to figure something out. Mia was innocent enough to be wanted as a blood courtesan but smart enough to know what evil is.
Renato was intrigued by Mia and I loved that she challenged him in different ways than he was used to. I was totally surprised with the ending between him and Gideon. I loved how Renato treated her and really listened to why she made the decisions that she did. He respected her and wanted her to be happy.
These are great books and I am really enjoying the books I have read!
