Recomendado :)

So... Uhm I really don't know how I feel about all this. I enjoyed the story, it's a somewhat good story with good characters. However, I'm just a bit uncomfortable with a couple of things.

First, and the most important thing: Raichi's mom. She's questionable to say the least. The way she groomed Tetsu into having a relationship with her, and then left him with a baby she wasn't even sure was his... That doesn't sit right with me. That's disgusting, illegal and very wrong. Don't care she was supposedly childish and acted younger than she was. She was not only way older than Tetsu, she was also the assistant teacher. That makes everything even worse. I can't feel sorry for that type of person, so i don't care she was sick, I just feel sorry for Tetsu cuz she honestly ruined his life (not necessarily because of the baby).

I really want to be happy for them but I just can't. I'm not happy about how the author romanticized the relationship between Tetsu and Raichi's mother and no one seemed bothered by it, it's wasn't even brought up. I would've liked to know if Raichi was actually Tetsu's kid, even though I understand that he already is. Because in the end, when they also showed Raichi's mom ex... And he was blond... And you get all these hints that in his family they all look the same... That makes me think that Tetsu, a kid, got all this responsibility dropped on him for no reason.

Second, I feel a bit weirded out by how Tetsu kept saying that Bambi reminded him of Raichi's mother. It makes me question if he actually liked her at all or if it was just because of how she looked. To the very end he kept bringing that out, even explicitly saying that he would make Yukimi happy for Raichi's mom sake as well. Like, that by itself is a bit weird but not that bad, but if you add all this up it simply leaves me feeling like Yukimi's being used and she should honestly leave him. It also takes away from what it should be a happy ending.

I just feel sorry for everyone lol I kinda feel like everyone got fucked in some way. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but I can't ignore these things.

So yeah, to me it wasn't the ending I was expecting. Or maybe the development wasn't it, because I did wanted to see Tetsu with Bambi. But regardless of it I did enjoyed reading this series. It was nice.

Recently I have been re-reading series that I started when I was younger and never finished because they were still in publication and I couldn’t keep up. Reading this one back, now with the eyes of someone who is years older than the characters, gave me an even more heartbreaking look into the story that it did when they seemed like my peers and not just two kids.
As much as I tried not to cry, in the end the bonus chapter made me cry as if I were seeing my old pals that grew up with me become adults just as I have.
Loved it 💕

The themes of being a high school dad and acceptance of being an adopted child are already heavy topics. Such were just two of the themes explored in this 5-volume manga.

Overall, the series was well-written and thought-provoking. There were a number of tearjerker scenes and heartwarming ones. It's a shame that I hadn't heard of this series before, but I'm still glad that I got to read it.
