Four to six years ago, I would have been reading this cookbook cover to cover and trying nearly everyone in it. However, recently I stopped following diets. Recent research has indicated that diets don’t work and they actually cause a person to gain more weight in the end. Also, just because a person weighs more than what is deemed “normal” does not mean that the person is not healthy. Even though “diet” is not in the title of this book, “weight loss” is, which tells me this is a book about eating certain foods to lose weight.
Then again, every book that contains recipes can be interesting. All recipes can be modified to each cook’s desire. So, I look at these recipes as templates for other recipes.
My favorites in this book were: Baked Denver Omelet; Carrot with Avocado Dip; and Strawberry Pops.
I think all three of these recipes would be enjoyed by all members of my household. Sometimes it’s best not to tell people where a recipe comes from.
I have tried so many different diets over the years. Some have been good. Others have been not so good. Some were effective, while others were less so. And the one thing I have learned from all of it is the importance of eating right, not dieting. Having a plan for what you eat, when, how much, and the right TYPES of food are more important than any diet in the world.
Sam Kuma has provided me with other great collections of recipes and ideas for eating, so I was very interested in seeing what he had to share in this cookbook. I was very excited to see a collection of recipes that were picked specifically for this book based on the needs of dieters and healthy eaters of the world. Having the right ingredients, nutrients, and foods does so much more for your overall health than just helping you manage your weight. With the right food choices, with CLEAN eating, you will see improvements in everything from skin, to hair, to nails, to energy levels, to sleep... The benefits are immense!
My chief complaint about this book? It is only a 15 day plan. I need help for more than 2 weeks. I need more ideas to last longer. Two weeks is a great way to start and to see how it works, as well as what it can do for you. But I want to have more ideas of new recipes and clean eating options to add to the ones included in the two week plan. Having a plan for 2 weeks is helpful and sets you up to learn how to eat clean, what to look for, and to start building good habits. But more would be better for it to be sustained and not get old from using the same types of things over and over.
Definitely a great read for those looking for new ideas on managing their weight and improving their overall health with clean eating.
Clean eating a 15 day meal plan by Sam Kuma This book starts in with each day consisting of breakfast, lunch, a snack and dinner with linkable recipes. There are a total of 15 days with different meals for each one. Recipes are then show where it lists the title, prep time, total time and servings, list of ingredients and I'm pretty sure you can substitute for healthier options for your own dietary needs. Directions are given on how to make the dish. There are no pictures, there is no nutritional information provided.
