At seventeen, Kiara Monroe made the decision to leave home with her boyfriend and never look back. Two years later, she comes to regret this decision and finds the strength to end the abusive relationship. Pregnant and alone, Kiara is stuck in rural cattle country Nebraska, living out of a trailer at the edge of the Cottonwood Ranch. To complicate matters, she finds herself falling for the older, brooding rancher next door.
After suffering through the death of a child, Rowan Kinsley is unwilling to open his heart to anyone and definitely not to the obnoxious, rude, and immature pregnant teenager who has taken up residence inside a rundown trailer next to his ranch. It doesn’t matter if Kiara is the one person to warm his stone cold heart or make him question the promises made to himself in the midst of grief.
Can love bring two lonely hearts together and convince Rowan that a life with Kiara is the one thing his soul needs?
Delilah Hunt is a serial daydreamer, known to stop in the middle of conversations to ponder something a character in her head has done, or is about to do. No, she isn't ready for the straitjacket yet. At least not until she brings to life all the heroes and villains vying for her attention.
I continue to enjoy this author's books very much and this story is no exception. Rowan has suffered great loss in his life and Kiara and her pregnancy reminds him of what he has lost. So he tries to deny what he feels for her because he does not want to forget about what he has lost. Kiara believes that she and Rowan could make a great family with her child which is not his but she has to demonstrate through her love for him that he can love a family again.
The story was fast moving which I love, the author spent most the book on the couple, again something which I truly appreciate. Definitely worth a read.
This is a wonderful return to form for the author.
"Loving Kiara" is a story of Rowan and Kiara, a May-December pairing that actually works because of their differences. There's something about the interactions that seems organic. Kiara is mouthy but it's a defense tactic (one I definitely can identify with, tbh) against hardships that have come her way from various incidents. Rowan is a man still wrapped in grief from a life altering situation.
If you are a fan of Delilah Hunt's work, I think you'll very much enjoy this novel. If you've not read her books, this is a good book to start. I look forward to her next release.
I enjoyed Kiara and Rowan's story. Kiara did a lot of growing up in this book, she is the only one that could help Rowan to start living life again. Their story really proves the saying age is nothing but a number.
This was really good. I enjoyed reading it and could not put it down. I've been a Delilah Hunt fan for a long time and I'm so happy that she's back writing, delivering the same magic as she used to. I can't wait for more from her.
