4 "Only because of Noah" Stars
*Spoilers*
This book is a hard one for me to review. I had to sit for a few hours after I finished reading it just to try to figure out what to rate it and how it made me feel. One minute I was Happy and liking this book and the next I was not liking this book. Like , dislike, like, dislike round and round it went until the very last page!
So this is the 5th book in the Nightwalker series, Noah and Kestra's love story or Fear story, they both work for this book! The books starts out with Noah who has been having dreams of his imprinted mate for 6 months. In these dreams She fights him until she finally caves and they make dream love and it's to the point of driving him mad. He goes to Corrine (Bella's sister) who has the power to help demons find their druid mates. They find his mate all right but she wants nothing to do with him.
"No, Kikilia," he murmured softly against her brow. "This time, it can be different. Tell me who you are, and I can show you what you are capable of when you are awake. Tell me your name, and I will find you and end this mutual torture once and for all."
"If only I would be more feminine, soft, and compliant, perhaps? I'm no lady? Well, you're right. I don't behave myself, I don't talk softly, and I am not gracious. Six months of this manipulation and you still don't know a damn thing about me. I would think I'd dream up someone smarter for myself."
"Very well," she hissed hoarsely. "Kestra. Kestra Irons. Now come and find me, you son of a bitch. Meet me in the real world and find out how far all this Eurotrash charm of yours will really go. I swear, if I ever set eyes on you in my waking world you will be centuries of sorry!"
So here lies the problem I had with this book. I loved Noah! Love Love Love him have since the first book. I have been waiting for his book and just knew it would be good, because it was Noah! Noah was great just like I figured he would be.
Sexy, strong, Brave, loving, funny, sweet ,and a man of honor. How could anyone not love Noah!!
"Tell me what you want, Kes." She moaned with pleasure, her hips wriggling against his touch. "So many choices for living in the moment, baby love. Do you want my touch?" He stroked deep into her body with a slick finger. "Or can I taste you as you come? Or…" Noah dragged her close to the edge of the desk and removed his touch so she could feel the grind of his arousal against her heated sex.
"In twenty to thirty minutes, the sun will hit the eastern windows," he said, pausing over her body to point them out. "The stained glass will catch the light and it will bathe your body in a kaleidoscope of colors. Since I love colored light, I can do no less than to worship it in entirety with the reverent kiss of my mouth." She swallowed convulsively at the thought, her pulse pounding tellingly in her throat. "Twenty to thirty minutes?" she asked. "What will we do until then?" "Practice, of course."
Kestra, she is what confused me about this book. I don't know if I like her or dislike her!
One minute I could not stand her, She was a huge coward. So fearful of letting anyone close to her or even liking Noah that she would have Panic attacks, and the next she was wanting to rip his clothes off , then she was in panic attack mode while he was mid stroke For God sakes!
But then when you find out about her past you can understand why she is the way she is and it made me want to cut her some slack, and when she would let her guard down you could see things about her that were fun making her more likable . The only problem with that is she is so fearful that she is closed off and pushes Noah away almost the whole book . To the point where I wanted to yell "Oh for God sakes get over it already!!!" She only tells him she loves him at the end after almost losing him.
I love you. You're my soul and my heart. I feel it every time I breathe. I knew. I knew when every day went by and just got better and better. I knew when Samhain passed and you became more and more beautiful. Painfully so, Noah. I met you when you were at your worst, and I love you so much that I actually miss your worst! But I bless your best. You've changed me and my world, and everything is so different now. Just because you were brave enough to face down a royal bitch and give her a good wake-up call.
Other than Kestra's fear, This book was great. There was a ton of drama , a few things happen to add to the building plot of the series, and you get to see all the other couples that you fell in love with and how they are doing. And it ended on a sweet note! Next up is Adam!

Oh, oh, oh. I'm still riding high after finishing "Noah" by Jacquelyn Frank, book five of her 'Nightwalkers' series. This series has everything I want in a paranormal romance/urban fantasy: mega-hot heroes, strong heroines, vampires, demons, and weres (Oh, my).
Kestra is a successful mercenary who uses her intelligence, agility, and highly trained body. She's also a woman who has suffered horrible loss and lives with survivor guilt every day. Until one evening, on a mission gone bad, she's saved by a walking wet dream that screams danger to her highly trained senses. And even though she knows they've never met, he somehow seems familiar...
Noah is the King of the Demons, but he's alone. For the last six months, he has struggled with his demon urges more than ever before because he's been dreaming of his mate but doesn't know her name or her face. When he finally finds her, it's only to watch her die...and he snaps. He risks everything on a daring experiment to warp time to save her. But even saving her may not be enough, because now he has to find a way to win the heart of a woman so scarred...she may not be able to love. With enemies closing in and Samhain only days away, the clock is ticking for Noah.
I adore this series. And Noah's book is everything I'd hoped it would be. His woman isn't perfect, but she's perfect for him. And Noah must admit his weaknesses to win her heart...a King...admit weakness? This series is so detailed, so intricate, so enthralling--I don't think it's possible to read just one! My thoughts on Noah are a little mixed, so I may be a bit scattered. I think that this whole series has been an interesting mix of an interesting plot, wait, no a fantastic plot, but with overly dramatic and repetitive writing. My main complaint through these 5 books have been the writing. It annoys the crap out of me. BUUUUT, the characters and plot more than make up for it. I mean I did read 5 books here! I must like something!
I hated that Ruth (our villainess extraordinaire) was nowhere to be found. In fact she was mentioned only once. now this would not be a big deal, except that this book was it! Done, the series is finito! Only recently has the author finally bowed to the masses to write Jasmine's story. Although to be fair, I thought Jasmine was an absolute bitch. I mean manipulative and rude. But everyone excuses her because "that's just how she is." lame excuse. But my point was that Ruth has had not only an active role in the past 4 books, but a very vicious one at that, with this plan that has been building and building and then we got to book 5 (remember, at the time it was the last in the series!) and then Ruth never showed, was mentioned once in passing and it fizzled.
I know, I know, I still haven't gotten to Noah and Kestra. So Kes is a druid/human hybrid who basically is human til she meets her Imprinted mate, and then boom, her druid half becomes active. She gets powers and a hot demon king..sweet! too bad she is too stubborn to realize it. Although I liked Kes for the most part. Noah I loved. Alot of the reviews bagged on him for not being his usual strong fearless self, but that's the whole point with the mate. She throws him off his game. And he does the same to her. Noah used Corrine to find his mate and he used Jacob and Bella's daughter to take him back in time to save her from an awful death...but he USES their toddler for this. he deliberately kidnaps her and uses her talent...I actually was able to forgive him that, some reviews couldn't get past that, but it didn't bother me as much as the over-thinking of everything...Can we get one conversation where the characters don't withdraw into themselves for a few pages of self-awareness? I'd like one conversation without that please.
I however, did read it cover to cover, and I liked the storyline enough to give it 3.5 stars-but no half ratings right? I think it could have been a 5 star if it weren't the last in the series, or if it had actually answered some questions there, rather than raising more. Like where is Ruth? What are we to assume, the bad guy never gets their come-uppance? What about Seth and Leah...the future of demonkind? And what about Syreena and Damien? Do they ever get pregnant? I just think that it was too open-ended. I had hoped some questions would be answered in the Shadowdwellers series, but from what I can tell, nothing is resolved. Also, JF is planning on writing Jasmine's story, but when Noah was written, this was the end of the series-it was written as the end. That is why the loose ends bothered me the most.
So, I have a love/hate relationship with this series, and book. I probably won't read the next book whenever JF gets around to writing it, since I don't care enough about Jasmine to want to read her story. Maybe after Damien I could have, but she was uber-bitch in this and I just don't care.

^^NOAH LET ME INTO YOUR ARK!^^
I am so in love with Jacquelyn Frank’s world of demons. I could read about them all day, and it would not be enough. I love how detailed everything is, and usually where I would be bored I am just revelling in it all.
Book 5 in the Nightwalkers series is by some extraordinary stuff, most will not agree because we expected the world from Noah. I am glad he was no extraordinary demon because it would have been too much. He was everything I wanted and more, though the book is less action packed than those before, this one lets you know there’s gonna be a war and it will be magnificent.
Noah is the caretaker of his race; he is not just king but someone who cares deeply for his people and his loved ones. Though he is the strength and compassion for many, at then end of they everyone goes home to their imprinted mate and he hopes for a just a little of that love. When vivid dreams including only one-woman start happening, Noah knows that the woman is destined to be his mate, all that is left is to find her and get it done.
The book mainly revolves around how Noah finally meets his mate, and the impact it will have on her life and those around them. Kestra just cannot believe the world she was thrust in (heheheh) and to make matters worst, it’s the dominant he-man from her dreams. She wants him something kind of fierce but she’s a ‘nobody can’t hold her down’ kinda woman. That includes the man saying she belongs to him, because the world has taught her never trust and eventually those you love will die.
I just loved reading this book, Kestra is kick-ass a little bit of a bitch most times but she still kicks ass. Noah is sex on legs, but he is still just Noah through and through. I am so glad I got to see a different side of him, where he got to be just a little bit selfish. Yet he still manages to be the leader his people deserve (like a boss). I cannot say how fecking impressed I am, love these guys love this world.
So much going down in the Nightwalker world, vampires killing other nightwalkers to gain their power. A crazy fire demon still on the loose and is working with those crazy ass necromancers. Jacob, Gideon, Elijah and Damien are still sexy. I am a slut for all of them! This series is defiantly worth the read.
I hope she writes about Stefan (real character), and Steve (made him up) and some other people cus I just wanna keep reading and loving this world.

It was 2008... I remember clearly... I finished Damien (the 4# of the serie) 
. I was so happy! Was a great story and I was exulting for the sequel… and I wait… eat my nails waiting… buy the preorder… wait the arrive from England… take the book from the post men smiling 
… start and read all night… and everything was….
FOR NOTHING!!!
WHY??? WHY??? This book is terrible! Noah was a wuss king, nothing like the great demon of fire that scary all the others!
Whyyyyyy??? Why the book I think would be the best of this serie was the worst? When I finished my desire was bitch slap Jacquelyn Frank…
no, I’m not a violent person, but maybe her editor was too kind. A good slap would wake her up, and this book would be what all the fans were waiting… next time I hope somebody reading the proof have the courage to tell the true… or bitch slap her…

Anyway... Noah war mir immer recht sympathisch, hier fand ich ihn, gelinde gesagt, zum Kotzen. Und was einem hier so als gesunde Beziehung verkauft wird, ist gruselig. Ebenso die Sprache. Teilweise total antiquiert, im nächsten Satz moderner Slang (von der selben Person)... Make up your mind!
Wer Interesse an der Reihe hat, möge sich selbst ein Urteil bilden.

Terrific! Sensual and erotic with mystery and suspense combined!
Noah is coming to the edge of his sanity. As a demon, he feels deeply, and during the moon phase of Sahmain and Beltane, if the needs of a male demon aren’t met, his insanity grips the better part of him, making him do things he doesn’t want to do. Noah struggles with this more and more as the centuries go on, and for the past six months, he’s been dreaming of a wild woman who pushes him right to the brink of his sanity. He wants her, badly, and it has to be soon.
Kestra is a strong woman who endured so much as a teen and grew up refusing to become a victim again. She pushes herself on a physical level, making herself tough in mind as well as body. The dreams she has with Noah are sensual, erotic, pleasing, but then again, are just that… Dreams. Figments of her imagination, or so she believes.

She doesn’t believe in love. She did once, and it cost her her parents lives and nearly her own. But with a lot of work, Noah convinces her, and finally she manages to admit that love really does exist.
The story made me laugh and cry. At first, when Kestra admits that she’d been hurt before, that someone she trusted had hurt her, you figure the usual. Only, it’s not the usual. She’d been through a complete horror, and I can’t imagine a woman being able to survive that, let alone push herself to what and where she is now. An incredibly strong woman, she builds a wall around herself as protection, and comes unglued when Noah shatters it.
Noah learns a few lessons himself - surprising himself with his indecisions, he does the best that he can. He hurts her indirectly, and it takes everything in him to repair it.
It’s awesome to watch Kestra change, to become someone who truly makes herself shine, regardless of her past. To see her push past it was superb.
Erotic love scenes leaves the reader panting, the suspense leaves the reader holding their breath, and the action has you cheering the good guys on. Incredible, and I can’t wait for the next!

I really wish I felt their chemistry. But I struggled. It was not bad, and Noah had loads of potential. I thought Kestra was going to fight him more so I was glad when it was not pushing away the entire book. That being said, it these books just cannot hold up against the first one.

I loved Noah's story, it was really good, an excelent addition to the Nightwalkers series, but it was not my favorite.
I mean I loved it but I just was expecting a bit more. Maybe because I read somewhere that this was supposed to be the last book of the series, but it just can't be, I mean so many things need an ending; for example, what happened to Ruth? She wasn't even mentioned in this book. 4 previous books to develop her story and in the last one she doesn't appeared.
Also the book starts with a profecy about the fire demon king and his mate having a baby that will be as important and powerful as Jacob's baby, but then it ends saying that Kes can't have babies.
I don't know... If I don't get another book explaining this things, I will get very disappointed!

This book was lacking in so many ways, and most of it was the heroine's fault. I know I should cut her some slack, specially after learning her life story, but Noah deserved someone so completely different from what she is. Only her powers were amazing, but the rest of her was pretty upsetting. She runs hot and cold and hot and cold again and again. I hated seeing their interactions and this book was quite long.
Plus, for the length of this book you would expect to see the hero making up for his mistakes with the enforcers' child, but no, we don't see that happening and it was another upsetting part.
Talking about child, Noah was seen with a child in his arms or his vicinity pretty much the whole series, and that's another reason I was very upset that this heroine is his mate. I won't say more because of spoilers, but man, it makes no sense that she should be his better half.

"Noah" is the fifth installment in Jacquelyn Frank's Nighwalker series. To me, it was the best book of the series so far. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has plenty of laughs and a couple of tear-jerker moments. The sexy-time here has got to be the hottest sexy-time of all the books so far!
"Noah" is a little separate from the rest of the series, I think. The Evil Bitch doesn't make any kind of appearance in this book at all. Its unusual because she has been the "Big Bad" probably since the second or third book. However, every time she gets away, I get completely enraged so its nice to have a break from that!!!! A new threat has come up though and all of the Nightwalkers are affected by it. Vampires have found out that by taking the blood of other Nightwalkers (Shadowdwellers, Lycanthropes, Demons), that they (Vampires) gain the power of Nightwalker they take from. A small group of bad Vampires decides to start collecting powers so that they might challenge Damien, Prince of Vampires. People have gone missing and some have turned up dead and mangled. Many of the groups turn to Noah, as he has encouraged peace between the Nightwalkers for as long as anyone can remember.
But this book is (obviously) about Noah, the Demon King. He is a loving, compassionate man and is well loved by everyone, especially those who know him best. Noah decides, after months of dream filled and restless nights, that he must find his mate, the one he dreams of. Demons have a "perfect" mate, what humans would call a soul mate, and once they find and encounter that mate who is destined to be theirs, they become an Imprinted pair. When a Demon Imprints upon someone, they both feel this need, compulsion to be with each other. It is overwhelming and all-encompassing. When a Demon and a human are Imprinted, its actually life or death for them to be together. After a Demon and a human Imprint, the human cannot leave the Demon's side for very long or the human will die. They lose their life energy and slowly die.
As you could guess, Noah's mate is a human. But he must find her first. So he enlists the help of the Matchmaker, Corrine. The Matchmaker is married to a young Demon. She is human but she is a human/Druid hybrid. Druid are humans but with special powers. The Matchmaker's power is the ability to find a Demon's mate, wherever in the world they may be. Corrine and Noah find Kestra, Noah's intended. They find her but she is less than enthusiastic. She is an independent woman and needs no man. She kicks him out of her "dream" (even though its only half dream) but they need more information. Noah decides to give her time to come to terms with all of this but he has stopped dreaming of her, which is strange. About a week later, when Corrine and Noah go into the trance or whatever it is that allows them to find her, they see that she has been murdered!!! THAT'S why he hasn't dreamed of her. SHE'S DEAD!!!! How do they see it? And how does Noah save her, time and circumstance be damned? Well, you'll need to read the book to find out!!
This was a great read. Great pacing. A lot less of that annoying inner monologue that stretches for 20 pages. Noah is a Fire Demon so he's all hot and sultry. Kestra is a bad-ass broad with a tragic past but you love her anyways. Its so much fun to watch this big, sexy dude with a sweet, squishy heart break down these walls that this powerful, beautiful woman has rightfully built for herself. And like in all really great novels, it has my favorite theme: he saves her and she saves him right back! Definitely a must read!!!!!

Another book, another beautiful woman! Do I sound bitter? maybe. I long for a heroine that has some kind of physical flaw, instead of iridescently beautiful sugar white hair and perfect skin, I long for a blemish, some slightly adorable crooked teeth, hell I wouldn't even mind a bad haircut, or a bad hair day! Alas it is not to be, and all of us average looking, need-to-lose-a-few-pounds women are doomed to never be loved by a Nightwalker. Like I said I may me slightly bitter.
Okay, now that little mini-rant is over I can actually ge on with the review! I have mixed feelings on this book, in some respects I liked it more then the previous two, whilst in others I was a little disappointed. What I liked a bit more then the others was the romance, although it still have the over wrought and over long writing style which makes me feel like I am on a steady diet of sickly sweet it also had something a little different. Kestra seemed to resist more then the others and didn't give in almost immediatly to the Imprinting instead of a few days it took a few weeks which in Romanclandia is a really long time! But I liked it, I liked the push and pull between them. Of course she fell, and who can blame her with a sexy demon like Noah after her?
Noah; loyal, comassionate, stong and steady and god damn hot in more ways then one. As the only male Fire Demon and the Demon King he has a lot of responsibility and power; power he uses selflessly for the good of his people. But after seeing so many of his friends and family Imprinted he wants that for himself before it Beltane drives him out of control. I like Noah a lot, he isn't my favourite that great honour goes to Jacob, but he definitely gets second place! I liked the relationship between him and Kestra, the gender roles seemed to switch with Kestra being the aggressive and military minded and Noah being teh compassionate one who would always strife for peace. Don't get me wrong NOah was still alpha and RAWR about his woman, but he tempered that with control and gentleness, it was niceto see a male with such a soft side that ge displayed fairly openly.
What I didn't like about this book so much was the way the Ruth and Nico storyline was pushed aside I want to know more about what they are doing and planning next. Instead we had rougue vampires to contend with, which although exciting I was looking forward to more the driving of the main plot.
As you can probably tell from this review and the others is that this series isn't one of my favourites but I have enjoyed it so far and I am looking forward to the release of Adam.

I FORCED myself to finish this. This whole series was a drag for me. WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY,WAY,WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY TOO many details. Oh did I say that too much? Well that is how this series read to me. ARGH! I just wanted to scream. In fact I think I may have growled a time or two. This side stories and internal dialogue take FOREVER. The incessant details make the stories so long and so slow and put me to sleep.
Example 1: "She lowered her thick white lashes until they all but obscured the blue diamond irises of her eyes. She glanced around the room yet again, as she had been doing since stepping into the unknown territory. This time she caught the slightest movement in the hallway behind Sand's back.
She sighed, long and regretfully, flicking open her icy eyes so she could give him a cold stare."
REALLY? Enough with the damn eyes, move on.
Example 2: "Corrine knew he was familiar with the history, so she kept it brief." 3 pages of small print, highlighting every detail one more time is neither brief nor interesting. HE already knows, WE already know, move on.
Now back to the story itself, Kestra is (in my opinion) annoying. Noah, whom I was interested to know, annoyed me with his "chuckling" all the time. Honestly I would prefer a male who growls his frustrations not "chuckling" about everything as though it was an insignificant joke. Noah did some underhanded things yes but he is a demon, I can except it. Not like it but except it. Jasmin is just friggin annoying and the side stories left me confused as to why I needed to read them. This series just left me grumpy.
In conclusion I can say that I will not be reading Frank's other books, and obviously I can't just assume that a series is good because there are SO many positive reviews. I think I prefer books others seem to greatly dislike. What is wrong with me? In any event, been there, done that, time to move on.

This made up for Damien. I'm so glad that the series went back on track. I really loved Noah's emotional and tender side. I thought Kestra was a good heroine and her reactions throughout the book was realistic. However there was something that was missing. I also wondered what happened to Ruth? Did she disappeared all of a sudden. The last 4 books was building up to something big with her and I was let down.

It’s between three and four stars for this book. Hard to decide. Genuinely liked this book more than I thought it would. The characters talk to each other — ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS — and develop over the course of the story, which I’ve found is not the case with other romance/erotica books I’ve read. Also worldbuilding? Solid. Plot? Solid. I did read the fifth book without any of the previous books and could still understand what was going on. Most likely won’t read the others (I’m worried they’ll become a bit copy-paste), but I liked this one. It also actually had the word penis in it a solid one time. Impressive. Most romance/erotica books I’ve read don’t use the word penis, for whatever reason. The sex writing was also solid.
The main thing that bugged me where when it called Kestra’s feeling her “feminine rage” or “feminine desire” or stuff like that. Like just say her rage or desire or whatever she’s feeling — the “feminine” part is unnecessary and makes it seem like her and Noah have totally different ways of feeling things when I don’t think that’s true. Noah bothered me a bit in the beginning of the book (he was too possessive for my taste) but he grew on me as a character. Still not a fan of his possessiveness, but I like that he is kind and listens and is caring.
I really should have used more paragraph breaks in this review, huh?

Noah was a good addition to the Nightwalkers series, but it was not my favorite out of the five books Jacquelyn Frank has published so far. She usually does a great job at having the two main characters fall in love slowly with reason yet keeps the rest of the story flowing in the background. I have long awaited for Noah to find his partner, but I thought that the way they fell in love was a tad bit sketchy. She does mention a long background between the two for 6 months (you will have to read it to know what I mean :)), but I think that she could have done a little bit of a better job (especially in 500 pages) setting up the atmosphere for them to fall in love.
But now that I have mentioned why I did not like the book, let me mention why I still felt the book was four star quality. I have always liked the way Frank can blend the an ongoing war with the setting of hard-to-find love. "Noah" still does that, and it does a good job of carrying the story on as Noah tries to woo Kestra (the main female character).
If you have read this series so far, I definitely recommend this book!

I loved all of these books and will add this series to one of my favs. It was a nice combination of everything.
I do have a few cons...It did have a tendency to be repetative with regards to Kestra's struggle to love Noah. Also, her background story with regards to her tragedy wasn't carried out well. For something so tragic as it was suppose to be, was not well served with a summary.
Also...the largest complaint is that I've heard that this was suppose to be the last book of the series. If this is so, that the largest problem I have is that the main problem was not taken care of. For the last 3 books we were given an entire plot with regards to a backstabbing Demon with a twisted mind. Yet she was barely mentioned in this story.
I know that a new series, the shadowdwellers will be published in 2009. I'm assuming that the author will make an effort to continue the series through another species of nightwalkers b/c she ran out of bachelors to write about in the Demon species.
Of course this is a stretch. She could also, just be looking for a break to concentrate on another series and will return to this one later on. There are enough open ends for another book or 2. Of which I hope either of these 2 suggestions are the case. I could be compeletly wrong and I'll have to do with a major cliff hanger.
I do have a few cons...It did have a tendency to be repetative with regards to Kestra's struggle to love Noah. Also, her background story with regards to her tragedy wasn't carried out well. For something so tragic as it was suppose to be, was not well served with a summary.
Also...the largest complaint is that I've heard that this was suppose to be the last book of the series. If this is so, that the largest problem I have is that the main problem was not taken care of. For the last 3 books we were given an entire plot with regards to a backstabbing Demon with a twisted mind. Yet she was barely mentioned in this story.
I know that a new series, the shadowdwellers will be published in 2009. I'm assuming that the author will make an effort to continue the series through another species of nightwalkers b/c she ran out of bachelors to write about in the Demon species.
Of course this is a stretch. She could also, just be looking for a break to concentrate on another series and will return to this one later on. There are enough open ends for another book or 2. I, like Kestra, have just fallen in love with Noah. At the start of this series, you were introduced to a beautiful, strong, King called Noah who reigned over the demon world. You had glimpses of his magnificence throughout the book, his failings, his love, his heart but until you read this book you have no idea what else Noah is capable of.
I love an author who can write a book (like Lothaire) that does not disappoint. I have been waiting through this series to read about Noah and finally when I get to it, it is nothing but amazing. He was everything and more that I thought he would be. I loved his relationship with Kestra. The truth of showing somebody the real you, because that is what they are going to fall in love with, not with who you think they should see.
With every page this book got better and better. She was a perfect strong compliment to him. I was very sad to put this book away. I kind of wished the series ended with this book because I am about to pick up Adam and am not sure it could measure up to Noah.
But....here we go.
p.s. forget to mention. This book is sizzling hot.

She lost me the moment the hero used a child--a supposedly beloved niece--as a hostage. Nothing could redeem Noah, the demon king, in my eyes after that, no matter how crazy he was at the time. It is impossible for me to view him as hero material.
So disappointing, since I've enjoyed the rest of the series. Frank has created a novel world out of many common paranormal creatures: shapeshifters, vampires, demons, etc. The other heroes have been appealing, despite some paternalistic excesses. The romances have been engrossing. And I recall a few smoking bedroom scenes that were more memorable than the usual.
I might have tried to slog on past the deal-breaker if other aspects of the book had not been irritating me: overly embellished sentences, unrealistic dialogue, dizzying perspective changes, and frequent chunks of a fairy tale that didn't read like any fairy tale I've ever encountered.
I've enjoyed her other books enough, however, that I'll still try the next one, fingers crossed.

Noah, Noah, Noah....
OMG, how hot was he????? So sexy, dominant, and LOVING. Above all, his ability to just open himself up to this woman. That was just positively yummy.
Kestra grew on me. I liked her better in the end. He power was awesome. I think that they will be a great couple.
I don't know what's going to happen in this war, but I suspect that bad things are on the horizon. Between crazy Ruth and the rogue vampires, I am scared for the Nightwalkers.
And of course, Xe Sands is the goddess of audio. There is no way that I would be able to do anything but listen to these books. She has done such a fantastic job with this series, that I could not possibly read it. I have to listen.
Now, on to Adam! I can not wait!!!

This book was a very slow read and very boring. The story line was very disconnected. The Demon King Noah came off Wimpish and Very Afraid to make decisions. Their was nothing powerful about his character. Kestra his soul mate; I only felt pity for her because as a young teen she had been stalked, terribly beaten, raped and stabbed so badly she was left not able to have children. Why Frank felt this kind of abuse to young teen girl would make her book more interesting is a mystery, because it did not!!! Very badly written!!

Well, it started out with a bang but then I lost interest. It seemed to drag on and on to me. This book has quite a few five stars so maybe I am missing something.

This one is epic bad, especially considering how many pages there were. I was seriously tempted to dnf it halfway through and would have if this isn't part of a series and I was not falsely led by the length of this to mean I would have missed some major story arc and development.
I seriously felt like I am reading a totally different series with the same character names. For half of the book none of the casts act like the previous ones, with the reason being the time, which doesn't make a lick of sense considering some of the other books also took place at those pivotal weeks. This seriously turned me off, as I invest in this series because of the cast and I so am not interested in the people as bearing the same names but not the characterization I liked.
The H is so totally not what we know him to be. It seriously would make it easier if we get a few of these dark issues in earlier books but nope we just see this totally adorable king who has been kind selfless thoughtful and forward thinking turn into a selfish reckless stupid idiot who cannot think and decide clearly from one moment to the next. I still don't get what is taking him half a year to reach for his holy grail, his reasons do not make a lick of sense to me when we are told this is all he ever wanted, and this just again makes him stupid in my book and I do not want to spend time on stupid casts. Very bad turn of the plot seriously, he is such a mess that I wonder how h can even want to be around someone like that. It is simply a telling of one monumentally bad decision after another. It doesn't make any lick of sense that he went to so much length to be with her then just hemmed and hawed for ages, risking her life knowingly and not telling her a darn thing but getting into her pants. Seriously does this show in a good way what this series has been telling me about the devine love of imprinting? I think frank is trying to weave in the effects of the season instead of telling, by showing. But this seriously sabotage he H's character unnecessarily in my book. He totally lost it when it came to his mate and that seriously shows him in a bad light to me as it shows his dependability as a monarch ties strongly with his mate and his feelings, and is such an emotionally unstable person who can fall into pieces when he frets about only whether his feelings are returned, not even if her life is endangered, a fit ruler for a powerful race? This all seemed fine when she returns his feelings, but seriously, I feel like worrying his mental health whenever they have a tiff in future.
The h is just as bad. I would have felt more compassion and understanding for her if there is just a tiny glimpse of what sort of ordeal she has been through via private musings. Instead by the time I found out, I was so put off by her selfish and apathetic coldness that I seriously don't give a flying fig. I also totally detest h that just cannot help but jump into bed first thing with H even though she detested or even knew zilch about him. Her acting like a nymphomaniac just makes it all the more wrong to me. Her continual refusal to deal with her feelings makes her really weak to me, and the H's patience then impatience also just makes him like a headless chicken, really quite an idiot in my book and I don't really want to spend time reading on people that cannot behave like a 20+yr old adult.
Over half of the book is torturous to read. There are a whole bunch of sudden change of perspectives, we are treated to half of a fairy tale that seems to be forgotten by frank halfway through the book. I get the ending is bad, and it is their living together that matters according to H, but dude we don't even know how they got together. I felt like reading one of koontz's horror novels where we were treated to quite a few pages of thoughts of pending victims. Like how is this neccessary to the plot? unless they got out or got some relevant new insight of the villains or something? Same with the villains here, we are told their plans and such in the beginning but in the end we do not even know who is who and who ended up dead (so again if they are just not so important I do not understand why we are even given names and thoughts and motives to begin with). I am also puzzled how they died considering they are not blown apart or burnt to ash (here are bodies!), we are told they don't really die easily, so again I just don't get it.
My dnf moment came with their princess assult, she was said to be the most powerful of her race and once again, she didn't even get a scratch on her assailant and was mortally wounded. I just felt like telling the assailant not to waste time on her as she is pretty useless, and I also wonder how her race survives if she is the best they have.
The side characters which I adore in their own books are just as bad. I cannot imagine bella not having her compassion to forgive, and she just comes across as vindictive and cruel when she punished her mate too, knowing he has nothing to do with the situation and his take is different from hers. Damian seems totally stupid, weak and lecherous and not being the wise ruler he seem to aspire to when he was more inclined to bed his mate instead of doing more about those seriously dangerous criminals. He just seems to be saying whelps because of my actions we have some potential supermen running around, and yup beware and oh i gotta go back to my wife now that I have done my duty by telling you and place a guard with you, laters. In point of fact, it seems all are so blase about this potential threat that I just am amazed they all are still alive. I just am totally disgusted by them and couldn't care less if they all got offed by that point.
The book with essentially so few things going on does not deserve the length. There are tons of fillers that is not necessary and was not even followed through properly. It really is painful reading pages of indecisions after inactions and I don't feel a beautiful connection between these, just desperation on the H's part and cowardice on the h's. You would have thought with such a long book we would get more info re h's power or how H dealt with his. Nope after gideon's heartfelt lecture, again that was forgotten, showing again how ridiculously focused the H is on less important matters and that again just shows his stupidity in my book. If not for the battles and the more to character actions of the second half of the book, I probably would have thrown and destroyed my reader alreaady. I think readers can really skip this one totally as it won't affect the main arc.

I fell in love with Noah from the beginning. He did not disappoint, and I adore Kestra too. Definitely my favorite book of the series.

For the past six months, Noah, the Demon King, has had difficulty keeping his darker and "baser" instincts under control, plagued by tantalizing and incredibly real dreams of the woman clearly destined to be his mate. But if she fights him even in his dreams, he can only suspect the fight she'll put up in real life.
Kestra Irons is living her life on the edge, trying to purge her deep-rooted fears with deadly stunts. Yet one day, the Grim Reaper is waiting and her life is extinguished with a single bullet through her head...That is also the day Noah's dreams stop.
He knows something has gone terribly wrong and when the tiny bundle of his "niece" Leah helps him understand by showing him Kestra's violent death, Noah's life shatters. For the first time in his life, he indulges in a bout of (temporarily insane) selfishness, using every power available to change the past and save his woman, no matter the cost to him and the people he loves and who love him.
The powerful Demon succeeds in his quest, sequestering Kestra right before she's killed, and brings her to his home. Yet, as he suspected, convincing her of the fact they're destined to be together soon proves to be a major problem...A rather minor one compared to a new threat of a group of rogue Vampires intent on feeding off the powers of random Nightwalkers.
From the very beginning of this series, Noah came off as the most "stable" of the Demons, the strong, capable glue keeping his people together, providing an immovable buffer for his friends when they jumped off the proverbial cliff. Taking all that in consideration, coupled with his awesome capability of keeping a tight reign over his volatile temper, gift of his scorching element, watching him fall apart, literally implode, is thrilling and terrifying at the same time. Like a train-wreck, you don't want to watch, yet you're compelled to do just that.
His struggles as he tries to piece together who he (thought he) was, what he's turned into (a monster, at least in his eyes), and what he could be with Kestra at his side are both both painful and beautiful to behold. And his inner turmoil when he realizes the true extent of what he's done to get her, and yet still unable to feel guilty about it, was heartbreaking.
I must applaud Ms. Frank on her "selection" of Noah's heroine. I couldn't imagine a woman more worthy of her hero as Kestra was. In a way, she was so similar to him, it was uncanny, and a real joy to read. They both hid their fears and scars behind an exterior veneer that only came undone when they were finally together.
Kestra was a much a "balm" for Noah as he was for her. In her own way, she taught him not to be afraid of who he was when he was with her, of just being true to himself. And he taught her the real meaning of true and unconditional love. Love uncorrupted, as she reflected on the union of his parents.
Again, kudos for Ms. Frank's amazing storytelling. Because that's what she does, she's just not a writer, she tells stories, and though her style is something one has to get used to (and still there are some parts where the plot could move a little faster), her interpretation of her characters, their relationships, their interaction and their world is always on the mark.
I was saddened by the fact this was the last in the series, but since there was not even a small mention of the main villain from the previous four books, instead concentrating on a new threat, I'd say she isn't done with that plot yet.
Although I'd love to read more about Demons, 'Thropes and Vampires, I'm perfectly content (for the time) to leave it with Noah...That is, until I pick up her Shadowdwellers series in the future.

This is an apt image. Noah, the Demon King, a Fire Demon over 700 years old, has watched those around him fall under the spell of the Imprinting. He's happy for them but also longs for his own mate.
In this book, he finally gets what he's been wishing for.
Of course, it can't all be flowers and chocolates, and Jacquelyn Frank delivers yet another riveting example of her masterful story telling. Noah's mate is much like the other women in this series - strong, powerful and perfectly matched to their destined mate. And yet, Kestra, who is unbeknownst to her a Druid, is also very broken on the inside, hiding her fears and pain behind a mask.
He's been dreaming of her for six months, just as she has been dreaming of him. He longs for her, yearns for her, and by the time he mans up and decides to find her, she's in a situation that she can't escape.
Of course, Noah is now desperate and uses his Enforcers' child (who just happens to be the first Time Demon) to return to the moment right before Kestra's demise. He rescues her and brings her back to his castle. When she wakes, she recognizes him as the man from her dreams. He's a bit reluctant to tell her what's going on and she's all

He doesn't quite know how to approach the situation with Kestra other than immediately consummating the relationship. Passionately. Consumingly. Irrationally.
I suppose a Demon who's waited over 700 years for his mate could possibly be excused for losing his cool upon finally having her in his arms.

Ms. Frank continues to amaze me with the vivid descriptions of lovemaking she employs without ever veering into crude or crass expressions.

Eventually, after some false starts and major misunderstandings, they figure it out, although Kestra remains rigid in her refusal to let herself love him. It was painful to see Noah struggle with his emotions and the typical behavior of a man in love for the first time, but I also smiled happily when he finally got what he wanted all along.
While I understand her reasons, after her history comes to light, and while the time between start and finish of this book is less than two months (and I applaud Ms. Frank for NOT writing a heroine who swoons over her destined mate and thus forgets all principles she's held dear until now), it felt a tiny bit formulaic that Kestra didn't realize or admit to herself that she's in love with Noah until he was dead. Well, mostly dead.
Suddenly, she gets it. Needless to say, Noah lives to tell the tale.
The main plot (see above) is broken up by revisits with characters from previous books as well as a subplot of rogue bloodsuckers who have thanks to Damien and the Nightwalker library figured out how to absorb the powers of other Nightwalkers. This clearly spells trouble and the anticipation builds until the Rogues strike at a most inopportune moment with an attack on Damien's wife and Noah's mate.
Bad move. Big mistake. HUGE!
We don't hear from Ruth and her vampy friend in this book but I'm sure she will raise her ugly head again in the next one.

Okay, this is another instance where I have to leave my original review and write a new one. Not only that, I'm also raising it to 3 stars. I still think the book is longer than it needs to be (a lot more sex scenes in this book and a lot of repeated character introspection), but as for the rest of my old review, that's pretty much it. Ruth and Nico not being here is fine. Focusing more on the romance is fine, especially considering where Kestra's coming from (today, it would have trigger warnings in the book and on reviews). If anything, I thought Frank did a better job at the character stuff here than in Damien. I did like Kestra and I did like how Noah was portrayed in this book. I do think he took a little longer than necessary to start the "I'm a demon" conversation which caused unnecessary tension. More than a little frustrated, though, at how Bella is just expected to forgive Noah so easily for what he did. Also, fuck Gabriel for knocking Bella out while she was yelling (rightfully so) at Noah for his fuckup. Women have a right to be angry, Gabriel.
Original rating: 2 stars. Original review: I was really looking forward to Noah's book, but I was very disappointed. This series seems to be going quickly downhill. What started out as a very cool fantasy/paranormal romance series is quickly turning into your standard, no surprises paranormal romance. Ruth and Nico aren't in this book at all and as the main villains of the series, I don't know why they weren't. The plot of the rogue vampires did fit well considering what happened in the previous book, but it just didn't have enough importance to be the main plot. I know you're probably thinking, "The romance is the main plot" and in this case, you'd be right. See, in the previous books the romance and plot were divided evenly, but starting in Damien the books start to shift focus more heavily to the romance side. It's not a big problem in Damien, but it is in this book. The author sacrifices plot and world building for the romance. Like I said, a standard, no surprises paranormal romance.
Now for the characters. I didn't really like Kestra. She was too yo-yo for me and way too confrontational. Perhaps the most disappointment I experienced with this book was Noah, himself. I really liked him in the previous books, but he seems so different in this one. I did like that the author finally showed the demon madness that's been discussed in every previous book and, not only that, she had Noah be the maddened one. It really helped shape his character better. Unfortunately, Noah's an a*hole throughout most of the book. Most of the characters show up in this book and whereas I liked when it was done in the previous books, in Noah it's just too much. Too many characters show up and contribute nothing to the plot. With this book clocking in at close to 500 pages, many of these random character interruptions could have been taken out.
