Plot:
The book Junie B.,First Grader Toothless Wonder, is about a 1st grade girl who is the first kid in her class to loose her top tooth. Junie gets very excited about this because it makes a girl she doesn't like in her class jealous because she's getting all the attention. At recess one day, one of her friends, Herbie, tells her about his uncle who only has one tooth and how scary he looks so she gets nervous that she is going to end up looking like him. After school that day Junie walked to her grandpa's house to ask him what she should do about her tooth now since she didn't want to lose it anymore. When her and her grandpa where trying to come up with something she could do, Junies grandpa stuck his finger in her mouth to wiggle it but she bit his finger which ended up making her tooth fall out which made her furious. On Monday when she went back to school everyone was amazed that her tooth actually fell out. When her friends asked her how much money she got from the tooth fairy she couldn't answer that question because she didn't believe in it and never stuck it under her pillow. She didn't believe in it because it didn't make sense to her what the tooth fairy would do with the teeth. Instead, she believed that it was a tooth witch that came and took their teeth but instead of keeping them she ate them like apples. The night Junie finally put her tooth under her pillow, she woke up to money under her pillow and her little brother had a tooth start growing in on the same day which made her believe her tooth was recycled to him.
Characterization:
The main character in this book is Junie B. Jones who is kind of a snotty little girl who always belives shes right and has a bad temper. During the book she mainly only has two obvious emotions. They are when she is happy when she finds out shes the first kid to loose her top tooth, and when shes nervous when she realizes that she could look like a freak.
Audience:
I would recommend this book to mostly elementary students or middle school students. I would say that is a good age group is because it is a easier text to read and it is about a first grade girl. I would also recommend this book to someone who is looking for a comedic book.
Personal response:
I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars. I liked this book because it was funny and it reminded me of the first time I lost my first tooth and how bad my parents were at hiding that the tooth fairy wasnt real. I also liked how it talked about in the beginning that Junie had a speaker who talked to her class about recycling and in the end Junie believes that her tooth was recycled to her little brother.

During class, Junie B. realized that her upper front tooth was loose. She was really excited and made sure the whole class knew about it. She was proud to be the first student in her class to have her top tooth about to fall out, where new big girl teeth will grow in. But when she went home to see her grandpa, she got worried that she would look weird (like her Uncle Lou, who is missing his top teeth). She decided that if she stopped wiggling it, then it will get tight again and won’t fall out. Her grandpa told her that wasn’t going to happen and asked her if he could feel it. While he moved the tooth a bit Junie B. shut her mouth hard and fast, making her tooth fall out. She was afraid that she looked weird and was also afraid of the tooth fairy (who she heard from friend that it’s a tooth witch). Junie B. was nervous when she got into class, but soon realized that they were all cheering for how cute she looked. Proud and confident, Junie B. went home to put her tooth under her pillow. The next morning she woke up to a lot of money under her pillow! She excitedly told her family, when she noticed the Ollie’s (her little brother) tooth started to grow. Junie B. then got an idea that the tooth fairy doesn’t only collect the teeth, but she saves them for when children are first growing teeth. We think that this would be a good book to read to the class during a health lesson. Students can learn about the importance of cleaning their teeth and the process of growing new teeth. This book can show them to not be nervous of the way they will look or about the tooth fairy.

Junie B., First Grader Toothless Wonder is written by Barbara Park illustrated by Denise Brunkus. I have chosen this book for my realistic fiction book.
Junie B. Jones becomes the first person in Room 1 to lose her top front tooth, she is very excited until one of her friends says she may look like a weirdo. After losing the tooth and being home for the weekend she is scared the kids in Room One are going to laugh but when she gets there they tell her it looks great!

I think this book would be a great read for third grade readers to read this as they transaction into chapter books and for even fourth graders looking for an easy chapter book to read.

I think this book has sole great points on social skills. Junie B. is scared about how her friends are going to look at her and she builds he confidence to go school and she comes to find out losing her tooth is pretty cool.

There is little to no content concern one at the beginning of the book she says the phrase "dumb bunny" that is the only thing parents may take offense to.

(Series) The Junie B. Jones Collection is a great series! It follows a elementary student named Junie as she goes through school and major life events. In this one, Junie loses a tooth!

My favorite parts in this one are when Junie shows her Grandpa her loose tooth and Junie's reaction to her tooth falling out.

I would use this in a K-2 classroom as a read-aloud book and I might have it in my library for 3-5 students as a light reading option. I think students of all ages love this series because it is so relatable and funny. They can even go to the interactive website for this series and learn more about the books and play games.

I like no I mean I enjoy this book because: first of all I think this is a very funny book.I first though that this was boring but when I first started I like it.Second I think this is a very good book for most of us the kids and the teachers.Something that I know that this really good book especially for little kids that do not believe in the tooth fairy.Third I think this book is not hard at all.Something funny is that Junie B thinks that the fairy gave his brother her tooth. This is my main reasons I like this book.

Four more entertaining stories in the Junie B. Jones series. I particularly liked these four stories because of what Junie learns about friendship. Her best friend, Herbert, stood by her no matter what happened and Junie seemed to understand and appreciate that. I enjoyed seeing the growth in her. Must be the first grade teacher popping up in me. Yes, I've taught a few Junie's in my career and I enjoyed every minute of them (okay most of the minutes).

These are pretty funny books, especially if you have children or work with them. There were a few laugh out loud moments as I listened to this book with my kids. Junie B. sometimes takes statements literally, which often gets her into trouble, or responds in a humorous way when she is frustrated. Of all the books in this collection, I think my favorite was Toothless Wonder because of the tooth fairy discussion. I look forward to reading/listening to other books in this series.

I read this book a long time ago probably when I was like 5. Anyways I loved this series! It was amazing from what I remember... I rated it so low because I didn't want good reads to think that I currently like this boom because that would mess up all of my recommendations! So that's why I rated this book so low!

It’s interesting to read these now back-to-back and see Junie mature a bit. The last story about the tooth fairy was very clever and sweet.
