My daughter enjoys me reading these books to her. I have read on Goodreads that many people don't like her, but I think Junie B. Jones captures the honesty and enthusiasm of childhood. Junie B. doesn't mean to be bad - she just speaks her heart and is often misunderstood. My daughter's eyes get big when Junie B. does something wrong, but in the end Junie B. always learns her lesson. I like her!
Junie B. Jones Is a Party Animal by Barbara Park is a humorous fiction book, emphasis on the humor.
This book is funny on every page, but did you ever wonder maybe there is something wrong with the Junie B. Jones books? Well, wonder no more because these books are in fact banned in libraries. A banned or challenged book go hand in hand. In simple terms as to what a challenged book is, it is somewhat the process that happens before it is banned. Books can be banned for any reason such as punctuation, language, and anything in between. Junie B. Jones was continuously challenged by teachers and parents because Junie B. Jones was disrespectful, said words like "stupid" quite a bit, and much more. Although the author had reasons as to why the book was the way it was people were still not having it, so Junie B. Jones just can't be a party animal in libraries.
Showing students different banned or challenged books is a great way to spark this information. Students can look for themselves and give you examples as to why it may be challenged or banned.
Junie B. Jones is five years old and in kindergarten. Junie has two best friends, Lucille and Grace. In this book, Junie and Grace are very jealous because Lucille has a rich grandma who gives Lucille everything she wants. Lucille invites Junie and Grace over to her grandma's house to sleep over. When Junie and Grace get to Lucille's grandma's house, they cause nothing but trouble for her. Junie breaks her very expensive glasses. Also, she ruins one of her pillows and gets feathers everywhere. Grace, Junie, and Lucille do not listen to Lucille's grandma. They stayed up late when they were not supposed to and are very loud and disrespectful. When it was time for Junie and Grace to leave, Lucille's grandma was very thankful.
Junie, Grace, Lucille, and Lucille's grandma are the main characters in this book. Junie is very loud and obnoxious. She always has to be the center of attention. Lucille is very spoiled and has to have everything her way. Grace is a really nice, sweet girl. At the end of the book, Junie realizes that she would rather have her grandma rather than Lucille's grandma. Junie would realizes that money really does not matter.
I would recommend this book to anyone the age of six to ten. This book is gender neutral, but I think that girls would enjoy it more. It is a very easy and enjoyable to read. I give this book 3 stars out of 5. I give this book a three because I did not really like the story line of it.

This one was a quick read for us. I found this one terrible in a Junie B. Jones way. Because good lord were Lucille and her nana ridiculous. There are people out there like that though. Fun book to read with lots of gasp-able moments and laughable comments.
I rated it 4 stars because the one thing I didn’t like was how Junie B. Jones got in trouble so much. I did like how she learned that you don’t need a richy Nana. I really enjoyed the book, it was really funny!!!! She got in trouble for 3 reasons. First? She broke a bunch of china, second she jumped on a bed, and third she kept talking when the Nana said, “Okay it’s time to sleep, I don’t want another peep out of you.” Then she was saying “peep peep peep” and she wouldn’t stop peeping.

Mi madre me había castigado. Sinceramente ella y sus amigas Lucille y Grace necesitan ser disciplinadas.
W-O-W, wow. Super awesome book. Five stars. I love that she had a little par-tay. I love that she went to her best friend's grandmother's rich house. Well, I think you should read it. BOOM!!!

Junie B Jones is riveting to my children and fun to read aloud. It was painful to experience Junie B's escapdes in this one, but it lead up to a soothing conclusion.
This was a fun read. I like that Junie B. Jones went to her Nana’s house for a sleepover and then she went crazy with her friends. It was funny, free reading about all the fun things, they did to have fun!
This was a fun read. I like that Junie B Jones went to her Nana’s house for a sleepover and then she went crazy with her friends. It was funny free reading about all the fun things they did!
Personal Response: I gave this book a three out of five stars. It was a funny and easy to read book that I enjoyed. I think that this book is relatable, because I have grandparents that have a lot of money like Lucille. My cousins are like Junie in this book, because they are rowdy and break things as well.
Plot: Junie was invited to a sleepover with her friend Grace and they got to go to Lucille's rich grandma’s house. Junie was very excited about going and having all the room to play in at the big house. They went to Lucille's grandmas, but Junie’s mom gave her rules she had to follow. Junie was really upset about the rules but she followed them anyways. Even with the rules her mom gave her, Junie still broke a lamp and made a pillow explode. Lucille and her grandma were very mad at Junie after she broke the lamp. All the girls had to go to bed after she broke something for the second time. When the sleepover was done, Junie realized she did not want to be a rich and mean like Lucille’s grandma.
Characterization: The main character in this book is a first grade girl whose name is Junie B. Jones. Junie is a very energetic kid that always wants it her way. Throughout the book, Junie is very energetic and lively. Towards the end she is scared, because she got yelled at by Lucille and her grandma. Lucille is Junie's friend that is mean and snotty. Lucille is the friend that invited Junie and her friend to the sleep over. Lucille’s grandma is a mean lady that yelled at the girls at the sleepover a lot.
Theme: I think the theme of this book is money cannot buy happiness sometimes. Lucille was snotty whenever she did not get what she wanted, because her rich grandma always got her what she wanted. Lucille’s grandma was very annoyed with the kids. She yelled a lot even though she had wanted to host this sleepover. Junie and her grandma did not have as much money as they did, but they were nicer than Lucille and her grandma.
Setting: This book takes place mostly in Lucille's grandma's house. This book takes place in modern times, because Lucille's grandma has a television and fancy chandeliers. This is important, because it would not have been such a big deal when Junie broke Lucille's grandma’s things if they were not new.
Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone in first through fifth grade. I think that these ages are good, because this book is at the reading level for those grades. Kids that age could possibly be thinking that if they have a lot of money they are cooler than everyone else. I think that boys and girls would both like this book. It shows that even the people who think they are cool can be mean.
Junie B. Jones is a Party Animal is about a six year old kindergartner who has never been to a sleepover. She gets all excited about this sleepover that she is attending at her friend’s house. Her friend lives in her aunt's mansion with her parents. Junie has ever been to a mansion before and is all excited to go to her friends.Right before she gets picked up from her friends aunt,Junie’s parents give her rules and she is all upset because she will not be able to have any fun.
Junie is an excited, crazy, outgoing, and fun to be around six year old. She is young, and lots of girls her age would love to be around that type of environment. She does whatever she wants to do. When her mind thinks of something she tends to do that or say what's on her mind. Junie never gets down on herself and she is always creative.
I would recommend this book to elementary students who are starting to read and middle school students who can not read as well as other students. Girls will typically like this book better because it deals with girls, guys typically like to read books dealing with hunting, sports, etc.
I would rate this book because 4 out of 5 stars because I liked it a lot but yet is was not at my grade level. It was childish. I should have read something a little closer to my grade level or a magazine article.
I think I have written all I want to write about Junie B. Jones books. I find them very difficult to read. I just don't like the main character. She teaches the young reader that it's fun to speak "Walmart". If it weren't for an acquaintance of mine who has a daughter about 10 years old, who loves Junie B. Jones books, I would not really be as critical as I am about the books. But this friend's daughter speaks like Junie B. Jones and she thinks it's cute. She sounds and acts in an obnoxious manner, just like Junie B. acts. In short, the mannerisms rub off.
With that said, I would not recommend any Junie B. Jones books to any parent to give to their kids to read. The main message of all these books is that being obnoxious and disrespectful is cute and permissible. They are just not worth it.
Junie B. and That Grace go to Lucille's rich house for a sleepover. Nanna takes care of them, and Junie B. learns it is not much fun to live in a rich house because she breaks thing. One thing I thought was weird is the book mentions the existence of Lucille's mother, father, and brother, but they never make an appearance. Are we to presume they are in Hawaii on vacation?
This is the only book so far that doesn't really teach a lesson. Unless you count, "It is no fun to have a rich grandma" as a lesson. (I find it hard to believe Lucille's Nanna was dumb enough to give her best crystal glasses to little girls. Even rich people own plastic cups.)
If you are extravagantly wealthy, you may want to skip this book! Luckily, this is a problem I don't have to worry about.
I thought that this book would be a great started chapter book for a child who is wanting to learn more and more. I saw both boys and girls in the third grade class that i was in reading this book so i figured that it must be a good book. There was a lot of humor in the text so i think that this helped to bring the students in. Also there were some illustrations in the book to break up the text.
Language Arts I would have the students try to write a story about a party and see how creative they could be with it.
