Melusine is a sorcerer's apprentice, funny and dynamic, who does everything possible to become a powerful witch. Unfortunately, she's not always successful, and very often her tricks turn against her and her circle. Pumpkins, all sorts of monsters, a haunted castle, a charming prince―everything is there for the greatest pleasure of the readers. Girls or boys, nobody will be bored with Melusine ! In this first volume, the charming little witch is working as a nanny in a castle in Transylvania. The lady of the house is a very bad-tempered phantom, her husband is quite a cool vampire, and the footman is a sort of Frankenstein with an exceptionally limited intellect. In short, nothing out of the ordinary...
I have no more Melusines left- BOO hoo hoo hooo! I hold this series so dearly because it's just so funny and even adorably charming.
This tome includes her fairy godmother cousin (cover) in basically the whole book which provides excellent contrast and delicious folly abounds. Then, in this day of non-binaryism, Cancruline and Melusine's Aunt serve as great witness that there is nothing new about it.
The art is great as usual- he even sneaks her in sleeping nude showing some skin when she wakes up. I've quite fallen for the sexy "witchcraft sorority" girl. And her cousin is even hotter!
This book has that old-timey comic strip art style which was nice. The comics have fairly strict adherence to the panels, but the panel structures themselves changed a fair amount. It's quite colorful with large pages.
There are narrative threads about Melusine's cousin coming to visit, Melusine trying to help her friend, and some other things. Other comics in the book are just standalone stories.
This second volume is another series of amusing short comics featuring the titular character, who is a witch, along with her friends and relatives. A large portion of this book involves her cousin, who is a fairy godmother, which adds some lightness and contrast, which I appreciated. If you are interested in a light read and some laughs and cute comic art, this is a good choice.
I see this is a later entry in the series. The gags ran a bit thin in this one, per me. Winston the monster though... I despise him just as much if not more than Herman Munster, for different reasons. Herman at least is simply a smarmy annoying sot... cat-eating monsters like Winston should be dismembered and fed to volcanoes, post-torture.
