emmy requested my thoughts so here we go! i was really excited for this one knowing that loie fuller was such an influential person in dance and a queer woman as well. this book was kinda of like a bunch of recounts of experiences fuller had in the dance world & relating to her performance career. some of the stories lack context but of course this is mostly just her talking about whatever she wants and her experiences, rather than a fully detailed story. of course, i wish there was a bit more about her long time partner Gab who was not mentioned until the end of the book, and was mentioned as only a good friend “like a sister” (yikes), but it was in fact the end of the 1800s/beg. of the 1900s so understood. overall interesting!!
Copy of this book available for free here at the Internet Archive. I first heard of Loie Fuller thanks to Sylvia Beach's description of her in the book Shakespeare and Company.
