Jungle Scout A Vietnam War Story is a perfect (boy) book for beginning readers. This book falls into the category of historical fiction and is a blend of text with illustrations and graphic novel . (Flash Novel) Follow 16 year old Lam Hung as he joins the Kit Carson Scouts for U.S. Marines to help the US soldiers in the jungle of Vietnam. The back of the book contains a glossary, internet sites and more information about the Vietnam War.

I found this to be a very good take on the life of a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War. Granted, they couldn't show all the blood and violence, since it is a children's book. This chapter book incorporated some comic strips, so that made it different to me.
