In Gracely, Colorado, it’s all about the climb—into the rugged Rocky Mountains, and over the obstacles that life has thrown in your way. With the right partner, the view from the top is grand . . .

Sam Goodall knows how to hide. And in the years since his sister’s death, he’s done just that, burying himself in his work at the Evans brothers’ Mile High Adventures as a backpacking guide. Clients don’t mind his strong, silent demeanor, and he’s happy to leave the rest of the world behind when he’s hiking, or holed up in the off-grid cabin he calls home. But he owes his life—what there is of it—to the Evans boys, and when they ask for a favor, he can’t refuse.

Hayley Winthrop is looking for something she’s never had—a true sense of family, and a purpose. Finding her half brothers was the first step—discovering where she belongs in the world is the next. Could it be in the fresh air of small-town Gracely? With hunky Sam agreeing to train her as an outdoors guide, she’s torn between exploring her newfound skills and getting closer to him. But chipping away at the walls around Sam could take a lifetime . . .

Sam is stuck in the past, and Hayley is looking toward her future—they’re a mismatched pair from the start. But the connection between them right now is too good to let go . . .

This author has written some really cute romances but ...and it's a big but. I don't like this series. I didn't like book one, but I decided to give this one a try because I enjoy her voice so much - and I didn't like this book either. What I don't like about this book (and series in general) is the overall tone. It's just not a fun read. I like darker books with more serious issues. But - this book isn't dark, it just has characters that don't treat other very nice. They don't speak respectfully to each other. I don't see myself being friends with these people in real life. Instead of being angsty or intense, it's just people I don't like. Which is a total bummer because this author has written really adorable characters in the past that I still love. It's just this darn town, I don't like.

Sam is a reclusive hero, quiet, and angry over drama in his past, and not able to move forward. His two best friends, Will and Brandon, and himself own an adventure company. Will and Brandon stepped into Sam's life when he was very down, and basically made him start working, and start living - they were there for him and he wants to repay the favor. That comes in the form of our heroine, Hayley.

Hayley discovers that Will and Brandonare her half-brothers, and drops that bombshell on them, before fleeing. She is scared to really meet them, and is conflicted about pursuing a relationship with them, because of disappointing her mother and that side of the family. She likes the town of Gracely, but is also desperate for a job. One lands in her lap when the cranky Sam shows up at her doorstep. He offers her a job at the adventure company, and even to train her in hiking and other adventury things, in exchange for when she is ready, she will sit down with Will and Brandon and get to know them. Her half-brothers don't want to pressure her into having a relationship with them, but they want a chance - and having her work for them is that chance. Hayley agrees, and off she goes with Sam to learn the ropes of hiking and the company in general.

I wanted to like Sam - he is damaged. He wears flannel, has a wild beard, would rather live alone that face anyone in the world. And honestly, Hayley is vibrant and cute. But their romance never took off for me. They had some fun, surprise, more intense kisses, but I didn't feel like they fell in love. The declaration of love felt very out of place. There is a lot more emphasis and build-up on Hayley meeting Will and Brandon - and Brandon's relationship with his fiance Lily, than the romance with Sam and Hayley in this one.

And I as mentioned earlier, I don't like how they talk to each other:

"Does that mean I can observe you?" she asked hopefully?

Sam all but ground his teeth together. "If you can shut up, you can follow me around all damn day. The minute you say a word that is not expressly sanctioned by me, you're gone. Got it?"

I know that's not a shocking, disrespectful thing to say by any means - but it continues like that a lot throughout the book. Not necessarily with Sam and Hayley, but with Will and Brandon. I'm not reading the next book because of my history with the first two and I already don't like Will and Tori, his heroine who we meet in this book.

But I am looking forward to future books of by author. And if you haven't tried her, I highly recommend her Farmer's Market series, Too Friendly to Date, and Rebel Cowboy.

Mess With Me by Nicole Helm is the second book in her Mile High Romance series. It's the first book I've ever read by her and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I stumbled across this book in Buzz Books 2017: Romance which includes excerpts from tons of soon to be released books. The sample from this book hooked me and I couldn't wait to get my hands it.

With this being the second book in the series I was a little worried that I would be missing something, but this was a great "standalone" within the series. I could see how people that read the first book would love the scenes starring the first books couple, and there was enough tension between the next books couple that I would definitely be interested in checking that out too.

This wasn't a perfect book, but it was perfect for me right now. I loved the light and fluffy aspects to it, and it was only when it tried to get a bit "deeper" that I wasn't as impressed with it. This was a one day read, and I'll definitely be checking out more books from Nicole Helm.

I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.

I have really enjoyed Nicole Helm's writing in the past. I really feel she does conflict and broken characters really well and Mess with Me succeeds in doing that. This is the second book in a series and I will confess I didn't read the first and that was perfectly fine. The hero Sam, is a reclusive boor at the start of the book and even for the majority of it, it's just that with the heroine we see his layers and the grief and hate hiding underneath.

The heroine Hayley comes to town to rediscover a part of herself which has always troubled her, her biological father who abandoned her even before she was born and discovers her half-brothers. The hero who is their friend acts as a conduit between them. I liked seeing Hayley challenge herself and learn more not just about outdoors and about herself, in the process starting to mend her relationship with her mother.

The book really nicely sets-up the next book too, all in all a very good contemporary romance.

"Received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for a fair review"
Another tortured, wounded hero written by talented author Nicole Helm. Sam is a great character: a bearded and hairy yeti, a “socially inept hermit”, who “grunts more than speaks actual words”, a “hard-edged man with a sad past”.
I would have liked his transformation, basically due to the heroine’s love, to be less straightforward and a bit more complex, even though his time of penance lasted for too long.
The heroine’s behavior was a bit too juvenile sometimes, but she was a good counterpoint to the hero and I liked their relationship. Her wariness of her half-brothers really grated on my nerves.
I loved returning to Gracely and the beautiful Colorado landscape and meeting again Brandon, Lilly, Will and Skeet and I’m eager for the next story with Will/Tory – I’m curious about this quite unfriendly heroine.
I'm grateful to the publisher, Zebra Books/Kensington Publishing, and NetGalley for providing a free copy

I’m a tad conflicted about ‘Mess With Me’, the second book in Nicole Helm’s Mile High Adventures series.

Sam Goodall, the tortured hero was mouthwateringly enticing—the circumstances that made him that way drew me like a moth to flame rather than his yeti-like appearance—which meant that the story started off well. But then it sagged in the middle when the plot seemed to be more of the same from the start: Hayley Winthrop gaining some courage to test out her newfound independence on the unwitting Sam, who in turn, gets drawn out from his cold shell of self-recriminating isolation because of her, all through their training sessions. In essence, there was too much to-and-fro without the sense of anything very significant happening, despite Sam’s intriguing backstory drawing me in from the start.

Hayley was one of those heroines who had me rooting for her at the beginning, only for this sentiment to fizzle out when I just didn't see her in a better place by the end of the book. In fact, it was harder to like her by the end of it; there was this passive-aggressive vibe in her that rubbed me the wrong way, though her uncertainty and hesitance were understandable in the beginning before it got annoying in the middle. I did understand—sort of—her familial conflict and her need to please people, though her assertion of her own independence vacillated between feeling timidly guilty and then lashing out too often that I just got fed up with her.

I only perked up when Helm introduced the conflict for the next book through the character of Tori, who spiced the dynamics up between the Evans brothers a little more and finally took the focus off Hayley’s self-pity, irrational behaviour and her constant musings about her inability to fit in as the ‘outsider’. Which clearly means that I’m cautiously optimistic for Tori’s story and those years of unresolved history with Will that is bound to explode in their faces. I just hope that it’ll be a ride that would be worth it.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.  Thank you!

As this is the second book in the Mile High Romance series, I would recommend to read the first, Need You Now, in order to get the correct context for this story.  While I am sure that it could be argued that it is not required, the character of Hayley is introduced in the first book along with her connection to the rest of the cast of characters.  The same goes for this second installment, the secondary plot is setting the reader up for the third installment.

I am going to start with venting as I did with the first in the series.  Hairy men are NOT sexy...I repeat not!  The visual of Sam was almost laughable.  Shaggy long hair, shaggy long beard.  Definitely not something that would get a second glance from me unless it was because I was running the other direction in fear.

Now that being said....Sam worked out for me.  I did not think that I would get past his hobo looking exterior or his grumpy hide away from reality and grunting personality.  I did not originally see how a romance story could be built around someone like this, even knowing that he would have to come out of his shell.  I have to give Helm kudo's as she did it in a gradual way that convinced me that Sam was worth investing my time on.  When he cleaned up his act both physically (but kept the beard..arghhh) and emotionally he was interesting and had some depth.  While I feel his grief was a little much for the situation, who am I to judge how someone deals with tragedy.

On the other hand, I had the complete opposite reaction to Hayley.  At first I loved how she challenged Sam and forced him to see what was in front of him.  As the story went on, I found her to be perhaps the most insecure and annoying character.  The girl seriously did not have one ounce of self esteem and I quickly lost patience with it.  Her issues were her own, and the fact that she pinned them on her family was not fair.  She felt she never belonged in a family that treated her with love and respect?  The fact that she never voiced any of her needs and wants was all on her, nobody else, and the fact that she couldn't see that made me back out of her corner.

Now, as it seems I have been super picky, when you put Sam and Hayley together they simply worked.  Maybe it was because they were both so messed up that they were destined to be together.  Whatever the reason, the two of them together made up for the personality flaws they had separately.

I look forward to the third installment in this series.  A lot of time was invested in setting the storyline up in this book so I am curious to see how it will play out.

Can you let go off the past for a better future? Sam can't believe that he is helping his partners out, Will & Brandon want a relationship with their half sister, they have missed out so much already. Hayley knows that she needs to do something soon as she needs a job and when Sam offers to show her the ropes at the family resort she jumps at the chance.
She can't understand why Sam is always so angry and he is always telling her to be quiet. She is very interested in Sam as he intrigues her and she needs to learn more about him. Sam doesn't want her to get any ideas he isn't interested in her ever but she has started to wear him down. Sam can't ever forgive himself for his sister's death and the part he believes that he played in it. Can Hayley get through to him and will he ever give them a chance.
Sam knows that if he gives in his relationship with her brothers will be damaged and he is so grateful to them so he knows that he has to make a choice but whatever he chooses seem to be wrong.
Hayley can't believe how Sam has hurt her can she ever forgive him? And is it time for her to meet her brothers and to become part of their lives?
A great story of forgiveness, love and finding happiness when you thought that you didn't deserve it. I was lucky enough to receive a copy via Netgalley & the publishing house in exchange for my honest review.

It seems impossible for this series to give me a decent, grown up heroine. The big theme of these books does seem to be that everyone has issues, but as with the first story (Need You Now) the romance spends most of its time focusing on the hero’s brooding pain, while the heroine ignores her own issues and then runs away and ignores everyone when they attempt to tackle hers. Which I find particularly irritating.

In other words: grow up, Hayley!

Yeah, yeah, I know she has problems with her family and she’s never really fit in and her mother used to pretend she wasn’t her daughter and she’s only just discovered she has two half brothers… but any sympathy I might have had for her was obliterated by her inability to actually face any of these problems, not just head on, but in any meaningful way unless forced into it. She moves to Gracely to find out about her past, lying to her (loving and caring, btw) family the whole time she’s there, she throws her parentage in her new brothers’ faces, then runs away and hides. Her brothers offer her a job, so she goes to work with Sam, who she continues to hide behind until he pretty much forces her to actually talk with her brothers.

Which is so annoying, because I liked her relationship with Sam. They’re pretty cute together and she definitely helps him to open up about his problems and face up to the guilt in his past. But the moment the attention focuses back on her, whelp! Gotta hide again! I know this is how some people deal with problems, but she also whines about how no one understands her and she’s never fit in and is always the outsider, boo hoo, poor me, I’m so alone with my loving family and these brothers that really want to get to know me, oh, and this hot mountain man who wants to talk to me about feelings and stuff, but look how alone I am! Did I mention I'M SO ALONE!

Nope. Grow up and deal.

Thankfully Sam was a lot better. Sure, he’s grumpy and broody and a rugged mountain man, but at least he has the capacity to change and grow, and can eventually see enough outside his misery-bubble to help others. I also liked seeing more of Lily and Brandon as their relationship progressed. It gave a nice sense of closure to the annoying open-endedness of the last book.

We also met Tori. Who I didn’t like one little bit, because once again we have a female character dealing immaturely with her problems. I’m a little curious about how things between her and Will will turn out, but my feelings towards the heroines in this series are so poor that I’m not sure I’ll ever read it.

So in all I found this book more annoying than enjoyable. Sam is great, it was nice to see more of the old characters, but Hayley disappointed me and, again, I was left with a sense of incompleteness when it came to the romance. It will probably be addressed in the final book, but I’m not sure I care enough to want to know.

This is the first book I have read by Ms Helm and I thought that MESS WITH ME was a solid romance. The pace was a little uneven at times in the beginning. Sam was a grumpy bear in the beginning and he shouldn't have let the death of his sister control his life as much as he let it. When he lets his friends talk him into training their half-sister Hayley for their business, he is totally reluctant and lets her know it. Eventually, he comes to appreciate how Hayley trains with no complaint and she likes to get him to talk, which shocks the hell out of him. I didn't quite understand why Hayley is so reluctant to connect with her brothers, but that is what makes her human. I enjoyed the changes in both characters as they reached out for some happiness. And I would read another in this series.

Grumpy mountain man in emotional pain and the sunshiney woman who calls him out? This had my name all over it. Sam has isolated himself for the past 5 years after the death of his sister. He blames himself for bringing her to a party where she took drugs and overdosed. His friends Brandon and Will have largely let him cope the way he wants, only intervening if he gets too grumpy with the guests at their adventure company. When Sam gets strong-armed into training their half-sister Hayley, he’s not gracious about it and Hayley has no compunction about telling him what’s what. She’s also drawn to him despite the gruff, rude, disheveled exterior and can’t help but try to befriend him.

Their relationship really, really worked well for me. Sam needed a reality check and Hayley needs someone who will really see and appreciate her for who she is. It takes them some time to get through the various obstacles (potential power imbalance, Sam believing he’s not good enough, people interfering) but it’s worth the wait. However, I wish this hadn’t gone the sexist overprotective brothers route. For one thing, Brandon and Will are her half-brothers and they only just met. They have no right to dictate anything she does and if they don’t think Sam is worthy of her, then why would they be such good friends? For another, her stepbrother treated her like a kid. I couldn’t stand the way her family treated her in general. Just because they’re used to be being a people pleaser doesn’t mean she can’t start fresh somewhere else. She’s an adult now!

Hayley feels like she’s never belonged anywhere. This aspect wasn’t as well developed as it needed to be. At times, she implied she didn’t feel she belonged because she’s mixed race, which set off alarm bells as I believe the author is white. Other times, it seemed more because her mom treated her like a secret when she was dating and then paid more attention to her stepson than Hayley. Hayley has light brown skin; her dad was white but her mom’s race/ethnicity is never identified. Her mom was estranged from her family and it’s not clear if Hayley is connected to her culture or community beyond her mom. If any characters besides Hayley aren’t white, they’re never identified as such, which was a big omission. (This is a completely cishet world too.) This is a big enough issue that I wavered on whether to rate this lower but the dynamics between Sam and Hayley worked so well for me that I settled on 4 stars.

There’s enough promise with the author’s writing—plus, this made me cry—that I want to try something else from her and see how it compares.

i immediately skipped to page 69 and i must say i absolutely adore the amount of lesbianism in this book !! the representation is immaculate. when sam came out as trans ???? my jaw dropped !!! i mean truly samantha is adorable and her and hayley are so deeply in love it had me running to ao3 in hopes for a beautiful 100k word smut fanfiction. i just want what they have. honestly if youve ever read percy jackson, their love reminds me a lot of percabeth. their loyalty to each other is so heartwarming and beautiful. when sam told hayley to kill herself ?? i nearly fainted !!! good heavens !! i cant wajt to write all about this book for my 90 page end of the year thesis !! its going to be the absolute highlight. however the cover was…. a little misleading. sam came out as trans so why is she like that on the cover 🤨. When they dressed up for the halloween ball together and rode a horse into the sunset afterwards ??? even though next chapter all hayley complained about was how much her ass hurt…….. Now lets talk about the smut !! the smut in this book was worlds times better than the smut in the first book. i mean the details during the meadow scene ? my stomach had swarms of butterflies !! when brandon fell off the horse and jnto the pile of shit ????????? and then sam and hayley immediately started going at it ??? i was so shocked but most positively. this book is the best thing i have ever read by nicole helm and i hope she writes more from this series. ill never forget the nyan cat reference. and when brandon confessed to being a brony ?????????????????? good heavens !!! that man is a keeper x3. i especially loved the first texting scene between brandon and will, sending eachother cute emojis like :3 and ;) and whatnot !! how adorable. oh and the sexting scene between sam and hayley ??????????????????????? when sam started sending the ;)))))) i knew it was over !! anyways this book was wonderful and i hope sam has a wonderful trickriding career and her and hayley get to make that family that they were hinting to. thank you for the great read !! wow i love lesbians

First, I love Sam and I love Hayley. In many ways I love them together and I believe they are meant for each other. Their relationship just made sense, even if everyone else may not have realized that when they threw them together. But somewhere along the way I lost their chemistry. I just wasn’t feeling it the way I wanted to feel it, and even the way I believe I did feel it at the beginning. I can’t explain it and can’t even say if it was because of things going on in my own life that were distracting me or the story or the writing.

The good news is, even without that “feeling” I still really enjoyed this story. Sam had a lot of baggage he needed to unpack and Hayley helped him do that in baby steps. In the beginning, I don’t even think he realized it was happening. Unfortunately, Hayley had a lot of baggage but she was an ace at hiding that fact. Her issues ended up festering and causing problems down the line.

There were things about Lilly in the first book that I wasn’t crazy about. Those problems I had with her crossed over into this story, too. One minute I would think she was going to help the romance along, the next I was getting pissed at her for seeming to keep them apart. And I won’t even get into Will’s actions when it came to the Hayley/Sam pairing. And I like Will! Yet it seemed this couple had to fight against friends and family for no particular reason. (By the way, Hayley’s step-brother is on my list of people I really don’t like!)

All and all this was a good story and a wonderful addition to the series. To be able to see Sam get his HEA and the brothers start a real relationship with their sister is wonderful. Plus, the author did a great job at getting me intrigued about the dynamics between Will and the mysterious Tori. Needless to say, I will be reading the next book in this series.

In Mess With Me, the second book in the Mile High series by Nicole Helm, we are reintroduced to Sam Goodall, part owner of Mile High Adventures, and Hayley Winthrop, formerly unknown half-sister to his two partners, Will and Brandon Evans.

Sam is a reclusive silent partner in the operation and lives as a self-imposed hermit in his little cabin in the woods. When the Evans brothers ambush him to ask for a huge favor, Sam finds himself in a no win situation as he feels he owes his very life to these friends who brought him home after the death of his sister.

Hayley has recently introduced herself to the Evans brothers and then made an immediate escape for fear of not being accepted, that they would be as callous as their father had been. Now the brothers want to reach out to Hayley, even offer her a position with Mile High, but they need Sam to act as the go between. Sam feels he has no people skills and is the last person they should ask, but he is also the only one who they could.

In Sam's weeks of training Hayley things change, he changes, and Hayley changes, too. When the wedding of Brandon and Lilly is held in the most beautiful outdoor setting, things change for Hayley and Sam, things that may lead to eventual healing for them both.

This is a very good story in a beautiful setting. I do recommend this book to those who are followers of this genre.

These three books by Nicole Helm are the first 3/4s of her Mile High Romance series. The fourth was released while I was reading these so haven’t had a chance to review them yet. I really enjoyed the series overall. The setting made me want to hop a plane and spend time at the fictional resort in Colorado. Each story can be read alone, though they work better together in order – and it’s such enjoyable series why not read each one. And even though she wrote each one as a standalone there’s not too much rehashing of previous books as sometimes happens in series, which can get really old.

Mess with Me was probably my favorite, while Need You know was my least. Nicole’s books remind of the dearly departed HQN Superromance line – lots of emotional angst, character development, and engaging story. In the first two books of the series, I felt immersed in the world of Gracely Colorado and the Mile High adventure business. The setting and story unfolded in such a way that I really wanted to visit and get to know these characters (ye, I know they’re fictional). Though I’ll admit the external conflict was outside my realm of experience, it was intriguing. The internal conflicts, however, felt real – the personal challenges the characters faced and the emotional growth they went through was true to life. The books reminded me of Fiona Lowe’s books in that regard.

This is the second book of Ms Helm’s series titled A Mile High Romance. These are stories about a group of friends whose youth was less than ideal to the point that each one of them is still struggling with that childhood and their dysfunctional upbringing.
In this one our main characters are Sam Goodall, who blames himself for the death of a loved one and has basically become a hermit not only physically but also emotionally. The other main character is Hayley Winthrop who has gone to Gracely, Colorado looking for something she feels is missing in her emotionally. And maybe meeting her half-brothers.
It was interesting to see how these two , pushed each other and in doing so , helped each other overcome their obstacles and the walls they had constructed around their hearts and emotions.
A well written story with interesting main and secondary characters.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I loved this story. We met Sam Goodall in the first book and he seemed so conflicted. On one hand he seems to be hiding from the world in his cabin while also pushing his friend to go for the girl and find happiness. So I just had to have his story. The author didn't disappoint. Sam is definitely conflicted. A tragic accident happened when he was younger and he doesn't believe he's worthy of happiness. He's content to stay hidden away until Hayley Winthrop, his partners half sister no one knew about, comes barging into his life and not letting him hide any longer.

These characters grabbed my attention from the very start and I wanted to get to know both of them. Their secrets and desires are revealed and you can tell immediately each is what the other needs to help them heal. The author wrote a great and I highly recommend this to everyone!

In this second book of the series, we learn why Sam Goodall became a hermit, and how Brandon and Will had saved his life. We also find out why the twins' half sister, Hayley came to Gracely. Sam is laden with guilt and Hayley feels lost. Since she is still not ready to talk to them but needs a job, they ask Sam to train her. As they spend more time together, they are able to open up to each other as they weren't able to with anyone else.

I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are endearing and the plot compelling. The narrative is written in a amusing and skillful voice. Although the cover model does not look like described, from the description I pictured Dan Haggerty, the star of the old tv show, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams .

FINISHED this late last night & ive gotta say .. it exceeded my expectations! Knowing how grumpy & closed off Sam was I couldn’t imagine how he’d converse with Hayley & manage to instruct her while being a man of little words & grunts ! Lol! Both Sam & Hayley have unspoken underlying issues at play but they manage to have their story told through this grand picturesque setting of mountains & outdoor excursions that was refreshing to read! The friendship dynamics are by far one of Nicole’s best things she tosses in her HEA MAKING THE reader fall in love with all her characters ! Excellent climactic focal points & a truly touching HEA !buy now!:)💕❤️💕

1.5 stars. DNF @30%. This was going along fine until the hero’s dickishness crossed the line from “grumpy” to “controlling asshole.” Sam was your prototypical aloof “strong and silent” cowboy type, and I was understanding of his grumpy behavior because it’s a familiar trope. But then...he forces the heroine to literally stop talking to him and forces her to eat oatmeal which he makes for her...and tells her she can talk again when she finishes eating.

WTF. Is she a toddler? Controlling what and how a partner eats is creepy behavior, okay? You’re not a strong, silent, alpha: you’re an asshole, Sam.

I’m out.

I received a copy of Don't Mess With Me from Netgalley and the publisher. I really enjoyed this Nicole Helm book. Sam Goodall retreated from the world as much as possible after the death of his sister. Hayley Winthrop is a woman that wants to find her place in the world. These two are exact opposite and want vastly different things, but if they open Their minds and hearts they can be exactly what each other needs. This book is a little emotional, a little hot and steamy and sweet.

Sam Goodall needs to teach his partner’s sister, Hayley Winthrop how to be a guide in their climbing adventure business. Besides the backpacks and equipment, both are carrying a lot of baggage. Author Nicole Helm explores what it will really take them to reach the end of the time in the remote mountain setting.

Goodreads Giveaway randomly chose me to receive this book. Although encouraged, I was under no obligation to write a review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Rocky Like the Mountains

This was a pretty well written story with plenty of highs and lows, not too different than that of the Mountains the story is based around. It rigged at heart strings, had me choked up and hit some points for me that struck home. At some points it was pretty Psychological, others it was simply getting down to being you. I love this book and wouldn’t mind re-reading over and over again.

It was an easy read. The characters were okay but the plot line was very thin and the ending really disappointed me. The author left us hanging when it came to the Tori/Will mystery so that she could put it in another book. I thought with such a thin plot line, the tension and resolution between Will and Tori would at least have added some meat. But I guess it was just meant to be a vegetable stew.

3.5

I read the first one and was hoping for a book for Sam. The author did not let me down. He was already interesting. The author made him fascinating. I presumed she would make a book for Hayley, but I had no idea she would pair the two. Good job author!

This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a super romance taking place in Colorado. Hayley is looking for a place to belong with folks she belongs with. She is here to meet her half brothers that know nothing about her, Sam is a partner with her brothers and a professional hider. They clash head on and the adventure begins. Is a Mile High Romance. Thanks to Goodreads.

I enjoyed book two way more than the first one. Both Sam and Hayley are in a difficult place of their lives. Together they open up, where they are unable to with others. They get to know each other before starting any kind of relationship. Isn't that the way it should be?

Sam and Hayley aren't suppose to work but they do....and seeing them get to the point where they realize they are better with each other than without each other was a fun ride.
A cute, fun read that took place in my home state, Colorado :)
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
